I am I know I shall see in His beauty the King in whose law
I divide, who lovingly guardeth my footsteps and giveth me songs
in the night. Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed
by the blood of the Lamb, Redeemed, redeemed, his child and forever

497. 497. When I can read my title clear
to mansions in the skies, I'll bid farewell to every fear and
wipe my weeping eyes and wipe my weeping eyes and wipe my weeping
eyes I'll bid farewell To every fear and fight my weeping eyes
Should earth against my soul engage, And fiery darts beat
around, Then I can smile at Satan's rage, And face a frowning world. And face a frowning world And
face a frowning world Then I can smile at Satan's rage And face
a frowning world Let cares like a wild deluge come and storms
of sorrow fall. May I but safely reach my home,
my God, my heaven, my all. My God, my heaven, my all My
God, my heaven, my all May thy blood safely reach my home My
God, my heaven, my all There shall I bathe my weary soul In
seas of heavenly rest And not a wave of trouble roll Across
my peaceful breast, Across my peaceful breast. cross my peaceful breast. And not a wave of trouble roll
across my peaceful breast. Look with me in Exodus 24, I'm
gonna change things up today. Not gonna deal with Mark, we'll
next week go back. But change things up a little
bit this morning, preach something else. Let's read these first 11 verses
of Exodus 24. And he said unto Moses, Come
up unto the Lord thou, and Aaron, and Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy
of the elders of Israel, and worship ye afar off. And Moses
alone shall come near the Lord, but they shall not come nigh,
neither shall the people go up with him. And Moses came and
told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments,
and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the
words which the Lord hath said will we do. And Moses wrote all
the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and
built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars according
to the twelve tribes of Israel. And he sent young men and the
children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings and sacrificed
peace offerings of oxen unto the Lord. And Moses took half
of the blood and put it in the basins, and half of the blood
he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the book of the covenant,
read in the audience of the people, and they said, All that the Lord
hath said we will do, and be obedient. Moses took the blood
and sprinkled it on the people and said, Behold the blood of
the covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all
these words. Then went up Moses, Aaron, Nadab,
and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. And they saw
the God of Israel, and there was under his feet as it were
a paved work of a sapphire stone, as it were the body of heaven
in its clearness. And upon the nobles of the children
of Israel he laid not his hand. Also they saw God and did eat
and drank. Oh Lord, our God, we come into
your presence, into the presence of the judge of all the earth,
who always does right. And oh Lord, we're thankful that
we can come into your presence by a new and living way, by the
sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you opened a way into the
holiest of holies for us by him. that we can converse with you
and talk with you and be accepted of you and be heard of you. And Lord, we know that we have
no merit, we have no worth, we have no work that we can bring
and approve ourselves before you. But our Lord Jesus has all
the merit, all the worth. He did all the work. And Lord,
we bless you for that. As we sang this morning, we can
rest our weary, weary souls in these blessed truths. We can
rest our heart and soul in our Lord Jesus Christ. We can rest
our whole eternity in him and his blessed work. We can rest
our eternal soul on our Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, we're so
thankful that you taught us these things. taught us the salvations
of grace, salvations of the Lord, salvations by the Lord Jesus
Christ. Salvation is free. Salvation
is a full one, a salvation that cannot be lost, cannot be ruined,
that nothing we could do could ever separate us from your love
and your power. Oh, Lord, we're so thankful,
oh, so thankful for these things. And now, Lord Jesus, I pray that
you would meet with us here today. Oh, Lord, we need your presence.
You told us the flesh profits nothing. The flesh profits nothing. And oh Lord, we know this flesh
cannot contribute one thing to this service today. So Lord,
come down in the Holy Ghost of God, come down in the Holy Spirit,
meet with us, meet among us, bless us to hear, bless us to
receive, bless us to understand. Oh God, give us the grace of
God to help us to be moved in our hearts and in our souls.
Help us to exalt and honor our Lord Jesus Christ. And we pray
for those among us who are weak, who are frail, has body afflictions. And Lord, we especially pray
for our dear brother in West Virginia, dear brother Marvin.
We pray for him. Please restore him as it pleases
you and your will and purpose to do. Forgive us of everything
that's unlike you. Bring glory to yourself in this
service today for Christ's sake. Amen. Amen. Let's all stand together as we
sing the hymn of the day in the bulletin. Sovereign grace o'er sin abounding,
Ransomed souls the tidings swell. Tis a deep that knows no sounding,
Who its breadth or length can tell. Bought from Christ, that
soul can sever, Bound by everlasting bans. Once in Him, in Him forever,
None can pluck thee from His hands. Heirs of God, join heirs with
Jesus Long, ere time is race begun To his name eternal praises
O, what wonders Christ hath done On such love my soul shall ponder,
Love so great, so rich, so free! Say, while lost in holy wonder,
Why, O Lord, such Love to me. Be seated. I'd rather have Jesus than silver
or gold. which is untold. I'd rather have Jesus than pass
His own hands. I'd rather be held by His little
star-hand than to be ? Be a king of a vast domain ?
? Or be held in sin's dead sway ? ? I'd rather have Jesus ? ? Than
live in this world ? He's fairer than lilies or ferris
blue. He's sweeter than honey from
out of the comb. He is all that my love brings. Spirit meet, I'd rather have
him, my soul peace. There to be a king of a vast
story, I'd rather have Jesus than anything
this world affords today. I'd rather have Jesus I'd rather be faithful to this
dear cause. I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide
pain. I'd rather be true to this dear
cause. to be a king I'd rather have Jesus than living
in this world of wars today. than to be a king of a vast domain,
or be held in citrus sway. I'd rather have Jesus Yes. I hope you're still in Exodus
24. I'll get my subject out of verse
8. And Moses took the blood and
sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the
covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all
these words. Now you can read this same thing
about Moses took the sprinkle on the altar and on the book
and then the people. Out of Exodus, I mean Hebrews
chapter nine, got the same exact words just about. When Moses
was sprinkling the people with the blood, he said, Behold the
blood of the covenant that God the Lord hath made with you.
And when he says, Behold the blood of the covenant, it reminds
us of when our John the Baptist said, Behold the Lamb of God,
the Lamb of God. And I tell you what, now he said
a covenant here. Now, there's a couple of covenants
in the Bible. There's the covenant God made
with Adam. Well, Adam failed in that covenant,
and we all failed in that covenant. And God's covenant with Adam
was, Don't do this, and if you do it, the consequences are death,
separation from God. That covenant that He made with
Adam. But this covenant here is the covenant of grace, the
covenant of blood, and God We've come unto the Lord Jesus Christ
who through the blood of the everlasting covenant. And a covenant
is a legal agreement between two parties. And the covenant
is a blood covenant. And this covenant is between
the Father and the Son. That's who the covenant always
has been between the Father and the Son. And the Holy Spirit
is the one who takes the covenant and applies it and reveals it
to us. Well, you know, they bought again
through the blood of the everlasting covenant. And all these people
had the blood sprinkled on them by Moses. This is the way, this
is the only way they were included in this covenant. God made the
covenant and it was a blood covenant. And the only way these people
could enter into that covenant was for the blood to be applied.
You know, God made a covenant between Him and His Son. And
the only way we're in that covenant is for Christ's blood to be shed.
That's the only way we're in that covenant. Only way they
was in this covenant is by the blood being applied. The covenant
was God's covenant. And oh my, you know, they get
the benefits, they get the blessings of the covenant. You know, when
God told Moses, and he says, you tell the children of Israel
to take a lamb, and when they take that blood and spread it
on the post of the doors, and over the lintel of it, he says,
this shall be a token. Now, what's a token? A token
is an evidence, a seal of what? When I see the blood, when I
see the blood, I'll pass over you. So this is a covenant, and
on the way we're in it, God provide the blood, God provide the blood.
And let's look at this blood of the covenant. Our Lord Jesus
himself said, when he took the last supper with his disciples,
he handed them that cup and he says, this is the New Testament.
In my blood, in my blood, which is shed for you. He said, you
know what you do with it? Drink all of it, take it all. And oh my, let s go, let s look
at this blood covenant. Let s look first of all when
the blood was shed as with the death of our Lord Jesus Christ,
so with the sacrifice that was here. Look what He said, the
first word is verse 1, look what it says. This is when the blood
was shed. God said unto Moses, Come up
unto Me, you, and they up there, and they down in the bayou, though
was the high priest at that time, and the seventy elders," and
this is the key right here, God was honored, come up unto the
Lord and worship, and worship. Oh my, this is the only way in
the world anybody can worship God. Our Lord was honored and
worshiped, And the Father in all the days of His life, our
Lord Jesus Christ, honored and worshiped God Almighty. When
He said, Moses, you come up, our Lord Jesus Christ was the
one that God provided for us. And I tell you, our Lord in all
the days of His life, He honored God, He honored His Father, He
worshiped His Father, He blessed His Father. You know our Lord
God Himself said, and our Lord was baptized, said, This is my
beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Our Lord Jesus Christ,
you remember when He was tempted of Satan in Luke chapter 4? It
says there the first thing He done was, because our Lord had
been Fasted 40 days and 40 nights, didn't drink anything, didn't
eat anything. And when he got finished, Satan come unto him. And there was a bunch of stones
there. He said, if you're the son of God, command these stones
to be made bread. You know what our Lord answered?
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Second thing he said, he took
him up to a high pinnacle, set him up and showed him all the
kingdoms of the world. And He said, I'll give all these
to you if you'll fall down and worship Me. Our Lord Jesus, you
know what He answered? He said, it is written, thou
shalt worship the Lord God of Israel, Him only shalt thou serve. Third thing He done to him, He
took him up and set him on the temple of Jerusalem. And He says
now, He said, If you're the son of God, cast yourself down. He said the angels have got charge
over you that you don't dash your foot against a stone. Our
Lord never tripped, never stepped a toe. Our Lord was so perfect
that there was nothing. He never took a false step all
the days of his life. You know, people just talk about,
I've seen something the other day that they found a bunch of
stuff like when he was 12 years old as a child, and they said,
oh, this is the way he was as a child. Anything other than
this Bible right here is false. But anyway, it took him up on
that typical, and he says, now, cast yourself down, and you'll
be the son of God. He said, it's written, thou shalt
not tempt the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou worship.
And that's exactly why our Lord Jesus, after the sacrifice was
offered, first after God was worshipped, God was honoured.
There's only been one man in this whole universe that's honoured
God and worshipped God the way he ought to be worshipped, and
that's the Son of God himself, the Lord Jesus Christ. And then
he told Moses there in verse 2, he says in verse 2 here, Moses
alone shall come near unto the Lord. Moses is the only one. There's going to be a whole lot
of other people there, but there's only one allowed in the presence of
God. Oh, the world is worshiped afar
off. Our Lord Jesus Christ. God, He's
the only one that God said, Come near to me. He's the only one
that God said, you can come into my presence by your own worth,
by your own merit. You come near to me. And I tell
you, God, our Lord Jesus Christ, everybody else worshiped afar.
Our master worshiped. And you know what he did? He
went into the holiest of holies. There wasn't but one person allowed
into the holiest of holies. And I tell you, this is the holiest
of holies in heaven itself. And Moses was the only appointed
mediator There's only one mediator between us and God, and that's
the Lord Jesus Christ. You know, this is the thing,
that we're not allowed to come into the presence of God on our
own. There has to be somebody else
stand between us and God, even after we're saved by the grace
of God. And there ain't but one person that allows us into the
presence of God. And he sits at the right hand
of God after he entered into the holiest of holies, and that's
our Lord Jesus Christ himself. Oh my, so I tell you what, after
God was honest, come up unto the Lord and worship, and oh,
don't you wish, don't you, well, I shouldn't say wish. That's
a wrong word. I say, wouldn't it be wonderful
to you, and it is not in your heart to worship God one time
without your flesh ever entering into it. Wouldn't it be a blessing
to come into a service like this and worship God fully, completely,
and our minds never wander? Wouldn't you love to come into
the presence of God and worship Him the way He's worthy to be
worshiped? Wouldn't you like to do that?
Oh, what a blessing it'd be. And then here's the second thing
after the sacrifice was over. Why the sacrifice? When the blood
was shed. It was after the Word of the
Lord was revealed. Look what it said in verse three. And Moses came and told the people
all the words of the Lord. You know, after God's honor,
God's worship, and then after the Word was revealed, Moses
told the people all the words of the Lord. You know how God
s revealed, who actually came and actually revealed God as
He really is? You know, these other people,
they saw God, but they couldn t see Him like Christ did and
like Moses did. And I tell you, our Lord Jesus
Christ HIMSELF was the revelation of God Almighty. Oh my, He was
the revelation of God. You want to see God? See Jesus
Christ. You want to see grace? See Jesus
Christ. You want to see mercy? See Jesus
Christ. You want to worship God? Through
Jesus Christ. You want mercy? It s going to
come through Christ. You want to come in God s presence?
It s going to be through the Lord Jesus Christ. It's only
through Christ. You know, God, He revealed the
will of God. We would have never known the
will of God. These people here, when Moses revealed the Word
of God, I said, we'll do it. We'll do it. But he came to reveal
the will of God. Oh, and what is this will? That
everybody that sees the Son of God, he shall have life. He that
seeth me seeth the Father. And oh my, and not only did he
come to reveal God in his will, but he also came to reveal his
purpose for his people. Oh my, and all the words, and
he told all them, and God has a purpose for his people. I want
you, you keep Exodus, look in John chapter 17 with me. Look
in John 17. I want you to see something about
the word. Do you know about the word? John
17 and eight, a revelation. You know, we have to have a revelation. If God don't give us a revelation,
we won't see anything, we won't know anything. My pages stick together, they're
so thin. Look here in John 17 and eight,
talking about the words, the word of the Lord revealed. Well, our master said here now,
this is verse eight. For I have given unto them the
words, the words which you gave me. I'm just telling them what
you gave me to tell you. I'm not saying nothing but what
come from you. All that you gave me in heaven
to say for when I got here, that's all I'm telling these folks.
All I'm doing is telling them thy word. And all which you gave
me, and listen to this. and they received them. Don't you see the word? Oh, they
received them and because of that, they've known surely, we
know surely that the Lord Jesus came from heaven, came from God. And there's another thing that
when he gave us his word and revealed his word, they believed
that you sent me. Oh my, that's what we believe.
Oh my, look in John 6. Look in John 6. Go over here,
John 6. You won't see something here.
Oh, John 6. Where am I at here? John 6, 63.
Let's look in John 6, 63. Yes. Look what he said here. Oh my, it's the spirit that quickens
us. The flesh profits nothing. This
flesh absolutes nothing to us in our worship of God. Now listen
to this, the words that I speak unto you, what are they? They're
spiritual words. They're life-giving words. And
oh, look what he says down in verse 65. And he said, therefore
I said unto you that no man can come unto me except it were given
unto him of my father. From that time, many of his disciples
went back and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto
the 12, will you also go away? Now listen to what he answers.
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou
hast what the words, words of eternal life, huh? And we believe
in a sure that thou had come from God. So it's words, after
the word of the Lord was revealed. And after the word of the Lord
was revealed. And I tell you, he revealed the word of our Lord
before the cross. And I tell you what, and I tell
you, God wrote, this is what I'm saying. God wrote this book. God wrote this blessed book. And this is the word of the Lord.
And the only way in the world we're gonna know anything about
God is through this room. And you ain't gonna know nothing
about it unless He reveals it to you. I tried it. I tried it once without
the revelation of the Spirit of God. I tried it once as a
legalist, as a fundamentalist. I tried it as a man who tried
to be saved by his own works, and it didn't work. But when
God reveals something to me, when God's revelation comes,
that's when everything in the world makes, that made a whole
horse of another color. And I tell you what, this is
the book, this is the Word, this is the revelation. Oh my. And then, look what else, the
blood was shed. When the blood was shed, Christ
was honored, God was worshiped. The Word of the Lord was revealed.
And look what else it says down here in verse four. And Moses wrote all the words
of the Lord. Ain't you glad God wrote all
the words of the Lord and gave them to us? We don't have to,
you know, we don't have to depend on anybody. We can read this
for ourselves. And oh, Moses wrote all the words
of the Lord and rose up early in the morning and built an altar. The blood was shed after an altar
was built. An altar was built. Oh my. And I tell you, well, you know,
I'm gonna say something right here. I've heard people say that
Christ, the cross was an altar. No, it wasn't. That Christ was
not an altar. Christ didn't offer himself on
an altar, on a cross. And the scriptures makes it very,
very plain in Hebrews 12 that Christ is our altar. And you
know what, when this altar was established here, when He built
this altar, He only built it for what? For sacrifices. And
Christ, you know, our Lord Jesus Christ, that's the place of the
sacrifice. You know, the cross was the place
that God was seen, where God's purpose, and He was determined
to do this before He was ever nailed to the cross. THIS PLACE
WHERE CHRIST WOULD GO AND BE SACRIFICED AND BE OFFERED AND
BE A SACRIFICE FOR HIS PEOPLE WAS PURPOSED AND DETERMINED BEFORE
THE WORLD EVER BEGAN, BEFORE THE CROSS. IT SAYS THERE THEY
TOOK HIM AND CRUCIFIED HIM. NOW, WHEN WE TALK ABOUT AN ALTAR,
LET ME, I GOT TO TRY TO STAY BEHIND THIS QUOTE, IF I CAN.
BUT HERE'S THE THING, HERE'S THE THING. I told Scott Richardson one time,
I read Gil's Body of Divinity, two big volumes of it. I mean
they're two big books, and I read BOTH of them, and all I got out
of it was this. I told Scott Richardson, I read
in there that Christ offered His humanity, His humanity as
a man. He offered His humanity upon
the ALTAR of His divinity. Christ Himself was the sacrifice
and He offered His humanity on the altar of His deity on His
Godhead. That's what gave value and worth
to it. And that's the only place in
the world where Christ, He was the altar and the sacrifice on
it at the same time. Now you figure that now. But
that's right. Oh my, He says, there they crucified
Him. He was delivered by the determinate
counsel and foreknowledge of God. And I'll tell you something
else about this altar. They only made the altars for
Israel. And Christ is the only altar
and the only sacrifice for His elect, for His spiritual Israel.
You know, when they offered that sacrifices, it was for not everybody
in the world. Moses didn't go and say, now
listen, this is for Egypt, this is for Saudi Arabia, this is
for China, this is for everybody. No, he said, this is for Israel
and Israel alone. And I tell you, Christ died for
his spiritual Israel, for his elect and his elect only. I'm
telling you, you know that, you know that. And there s a second
point. Why was this blood shed? He says,
You know, took the blood and took half of the blood when they
offered the blood, took half of the blood, verse 6, Moses
took half of the blood and put it in basins. There s two basins,
he had two basins, took half of the blood and put it in basins,
and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the
book of the covenant, the one he just read to them, and read
it in the eyes of the people, and they said, oh, that the Lord
would do. And then he took that other basin of blood, and he
sprinkled it on the people and said, the blood of the covenant,
the blood which the Lord hath made with you concerning these
words. Why was this blood shed? It says
there, you know, in verse five, He sent young men of the children
of Israel, which offered burnt offerings and sacrifice, peace
offerings and oxen under the blood. And when that blood was
taken, while this blood was shed, the sacrifices were offered.
And this is the sad thing about it. You know, when he read to
people all the words of the book, all the folks jumped up and said,
oh my, We ll do that. You know, that s what He said,
Oh, whatever the Lord says, that s what we ll do. We ll do what
He says, and we ll be OBEDIENT what He says. And you know what
they did? They brought themselves under
a curse. Brought themselves under a curse.
They said, Everything God says, we ll do. Did they do it? They said, yes, we'll work. Yes, we'll obey. Yes, we'll do
whatever he says. But they brought themselves under
a curse. Cursed is everyone that continues not in the book of
the law to continue in them. And oh my, and you know why they
brought themselves under a curse? Because of sin. See it? I want you to look in Ephesians
chapter two with me. Keep Exodus now, look in Ephesians
two. And you know, they brought themselves under
a curse. The sacrifice were offered and they didn't understand You
know, we'll do whatever God says. And oh, they didn't even get
out of Egypt before they started murmuring and complaining. But
oh my, they brought themselves under a curse because of sin.
Look what it said here in Ephesians 2 and verse 12. Oh, why this
blood was shed. That that time you were without
Christ being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel. and strangers
from these covenants of promise, having no hope and without God
in the world." But watch this now. This is why the sacrifice
is so. But now in Christ Jesus, you
who sometimes were far off were made nigh. By what? By blood. We was way out yonder, way out
yonder. What happened? Christ shed his
blood, the blood of that covenant. He said, come on here, come on
here, come close, like Moses, come close. Oh my, and you know
when sin becomes exceeding sinful, it's hard to find somebody to
admit to being a sinner. You know why sin becomes exceeding
sinful? It will in light of the sacrifice
of our Lord Jesus Christ. That's when it becomes, you know,
man is born with sin. He'll live with sin and he'll
die because of sin unless he has a sacrifice, unless blood
is shed. And only those who know, only
those who've had the sacrifice of Christ won't have to stand
before God, won't have sin before God Almighty. because that blood
has been applied. You know, he took that blood.
Oh my, sprinkled the people. And I, you know, I got another
place to show you. Back over in Exodus now. I want
you to see Psalm 38. I want you to see this. I could quote these things to
you. I really could, but I don't want to. I want you to see them
for yourself. You know, I want you to see them
for yourselves. Psalm 32. 38, excuse me, I'm sorry, 38. Look in Psalm 38. Oh my. When was the blood shed? Why
was the blood shed? Why this blood was shed? Why
was this, because the sacrifices were all. Look what he said in
verse four. Psalm 38, four. For mine iniquities
are gone over mine head, And as a heavy burden, they're too
heavy for me. Sin too heavy for you? Sin too
much for you to bear on your own? And that's what he's talking
about. But look what he says down in
verse 22. Oh my, make haste to help me. Oh Lord, my salvation. Where that burns heavy, you know
where you go? You go to Christ, you go to that
sacrifice, you go where that blood's been shed. And all this
sacrifice is that why this blood was shed when they shed the blood
and they took that blood in those basins. It was a substitutionary
death. Now look what it said here in
verse five, over in Exodus 24. The offering sacrifices were
unto the Lord. And he sent young men, the children
of Israel, which offered burnt offerings and sacrifices, peace
offerings, and oxen, listen to this, unto the Lord. You know,
the sacrifice, it was a substitution. The sacrifices were for the Lord. They were unto the Lord. And
it was on behalf of the people. And our Lord Jesus Christ, bless
his holy name, he himself, he himself, bore our sins in his
own body on the tree. You know, he was wounded. Oh
my, they wounded him, his hands. They wounded him in his feet.
They wounded him in his head. They wounded him in his back.
They wounded him all over. They wounded him all over. And
they sliced his belly open with a spear. They wounded our Lord
Jesus Christ. But what was all them wounds
for? He was wounded for our transgressions. And then he was bruised, he was
beaten bloody and mangled and beaten like with fists and spit
on and slapped and made fun of. Who was he bruised for? Bruised
for our iniquity. Huh? Oh my, ain't you, I'm so
thankful. I'm so thankful that if he was
wounded for me, I'll never be wounded. If he is wounded for
my transgressions, I'll never have to answer for him. If he
is bruised for my iniquities, I'll never have to answer for
him. When God made his soul an offering for sin, I'll never
have to have another offering for sin. He was once and for
all that one offering. Oh, what a blessed Savior we
have. If we had 10,000 souls right
here, right now, we could hang every single one of them on the
Lord Jesus Christ. And I tell you what, they'd be
as secure as they could ever possibly be by Him. Oh my, I
tell you what, a sacrifice was the Lord's by right. Oh, when
God, this tells us that God was satisfied. He took the blood. He accepted the blood. That tells us that the sacrifice,
God was satisfied. And when God was satisfied, that's
when it was applied to the people. Only when God was satisfied.
Substitution satisfaction. Oh my, that's when it was applied
to the people. No wonder Paul said in Ephesians
5, he said, a sweet smelling savor. Christ offered himself
a sweet smelling savor, a sacrifice for us, for us, for us. And oh my, why was this bloodshed? For the salvation of His people.
These folks were saved by this substitutionary sacrifice. And
we'll see that in a minute. Everybody, everybody knows about
it. I guess you do. I shouldn't say everybody knows
it. But you remember when Abraham, God told Abraham, said, you know,
take your son, your only son, take him to the mount that I'll
show you and you offer him. You offer him to me. And so Abraham,
when he went out, he took blood, I mean, he took a knife, he took
fire, he took everything he needed. And when he got his son up on
that mountain, before he ever left, there's a three days journey,
three days. And before he ever left, he said,
I and the lad, we're going up yonder to worship. And then we'll
come back. He knows he's gonna bring that
son off that, even after God offered him, you know why? Because
he was received up as the resurrection of Christ. But anyway, he got
up there and I heard Paul Mahan say one time, somebody's ram
got out and got up on top of that mountain and got caught
in a thicket. He looked around, he had the
knife ready to kill Isaac and looked around, there's that ram.
Isaac, he unwrapped them cords. Get up, son, we got something
else. And he put him in his stead. Oh, that's what Christ did. God put Christ in our stead.
In our stead. Oh, my. No wonder Paul said,
you know, I'm crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live. How'd I live? By the Son of God. who loved me gave himself for
me. Oh my. Ah, that covenant and
the blood shedding and the offering and sacrifice. Listen to me now. That covenant, this blood covenant
and the blood shedding here, it was put in them basis, the
offering and sacrifice guaranteed to be applied for all whom is
offered. Guaranteed to be applied. Huh? It's only shed for certain people.
It's guaranteed to be applied. Oh, as many as were ordained
to eternal life, what happened to them? They believed, they
believed. And oh, when was the blood of
sprinkled? Look, when was the blood sprinkled?
Look now in verse six. Moses took half of the blood
and put it in basins. And half of the blood he sprinkled
on the altar. The first place he sprinkled
it was, was on the altar. The altars where the claims of
God's holiness and justice were met and upheld. So sin has to
die, there has to be a blood shedding, there has to be a death.
if somebody's gonna be saved. And that altar represents God's
holiness, God's justice, and God's righteousness. And when
that blood was put on that altar, that means his righteousness
was honored. Now, now, he can bless the people. Oh my. You know, it said in Hebrews
9, 12, I wanna have you look there. But not by the blood of
goats and calves, HE ENTERED ONCE INTO THE HOLY PLACE WITH
HIS OWN BLOOD, AND WHEN HE ENTERED THERE INTO
THAT HOLY PLACE AND THAT HOLIEST OF HOLIES WITH HIS OWN BLOOD,
HE ENTERED INTO IT ONCE, AND HE COME OUT, AND YOU KNOW WHAT
HE HAD? ETERNAL REDEMPTION. YOU KNOW
WHAT ETERNAL MEANS? THAT MEANS IT HAD NO BEGINNING,
NO END. Oh my. And now he can bless the
people. Why? Because the blood's put
on the altar first. God had it first. God accepted
the blood first. God said, I'm honored. My law,
my justice is honored. My righteousness has been upheld.
And now I turn around and I bless the people. The blood's sprinkled
on the altar and now look what happens. That tells us he satisfied
God and obtained eternal redemption. Oh, no wonder the apostle said,
my soul shall make its boast in the Lord. And oh, look what
it said here in verse eight now. And Moses took the blood and
sprinkled it on the people and said, behold the blood of the
covenant which the Lord hath made with you. Oh my, the blood of the covenant.
Sprinkle the blood of the covenant. Oh, which the Lord has made with
you. This meant that redemption had been accomplished. You know,
these people came into personal contact, but when that blood
was shed and applied to them, they came in personal contact
with the life that was shed, with the blood that was shed.
You know, with that blood, how would you like somebody walk
up and sprinkle blood all over you? It's according to whose
blood it is. If Christ does it, yes, yes,
yes, yes. And that's what he did. He took
that blood and went among him people. Just sprinkle, sprinkle,
sprinkle, sprinkle. And that means that they come
in contact with that life that substitutionary death, that satisfaction
to God, they come in contact with the life that was offered,
that blood that was shed. You know, the life of the flesh
is in the blood. All the value and all the worth
of that sacrifice that was in God's sight was now applied to
them. Applied to them, huh? Oh, man,
I'm gonna show you something. Now you keep Exodus and look
with me in 1 Peter 1. 1 Peter 1. 1 Peter's right after the book
of Hebrews and James. Hebrews, James, and then 1 Peter. And I want you to see this. Oh,
there's been several things that talks about where the blood is
applies and what the blood did. But look what it said right here.
Oh, they sprinkle the blood on the people. And listen to what
he said. 1 Peter 2, chapter 1, verse 2,
elect according to foreknowledge of God the Father. Here's the
first thing happened. He set us apart by the Spirit.
And he set us apart, now listen to this, unto the obedience.
Not ours, unto the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of
Jesus Christ. Christ was the obedient one.
Christ was the one who sprinkled the blood, unto the obedience
and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. God ELECTED us, sanctified us
for one reason. to take the blood of Christ and
His obedience and sprinkle us with it. Why do you think, you
know, when Paul told us, look back in Hebrews with me. Now
just go right back over here to Hebrews. I'm gonna show you
some things over here. Look at Hebrews 12, 24, talking about blood being sprinkled. verse 24, To Jesus, the mediator
of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than
the blood of Abel. Now look over in chapter 10 and
verse 22, let us draw near with a true
heart and full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from
an evil conscience." That's the blood sprinkled. Oh, my goodness. Oh, look in Hebrews 9, 14. How much more shall the blood
of Christ who through the eternal spirit offered himself without
spot to God, purged your conscience from dead works to serve the
living God. Wherever that blood, sprinkled
our conscience, sprinkled our hearts, sprinkled our conscience. Now that covers everything it
could possibly be. Now we've come to the obedience,
goddammit, to the obedience and the sprinkling of blood. You
can't see the blood on me, but it's there. You know why? Because I've got a clear conscience.
You know why? I've had my heart sprinkled. You know why? The blood's been
applied. Oh my. God brought me to that, brought
me to that. Oh my, and then not only did
it speak about redemption after this sprinkled on the people,
but it was reconciliation too. Look what it said in verse five
about the offerings and sacrifice, peace offerings, peace offerings
unto the Lord, peace offerings. It was the blood of the covenant.
And I tell you, you know how in the world, what peace happens
here? Peace had to be made between God and the human race, and how
in the world was that made? He made peace through the blood
of his cross. Peace through the blood of his
cross. Oh my. I tell you, our Lord made peace
with God. Christ himself is our peace.
Where the blood is sprinkled to our hearts, you know what
happens? It slays the enmity that we have against God. Kills
it, graveyard dead. Oh my, we're not angry at God
and God's not angry with us. Oh, so I tell you the blood of
Christ, He made peace through the blood, He reconciled, we're
reconciled. Reconciliation is between two
people that were at odds with one another. Well, God was at
odds with us. sprinkled his blood, we sprinkled
with his blood, he made peace with God. Now we, Christ said,
you know what he said? You're no longer my servants,
but you're my friends. You're my friends. Oh, and it
produced obedience. Look in verse seven. And all that the Lord has said
we will do and be obedience. You know what the blood does?
It produces obedience. WE DON'T BE OBEDIENT TO BE SAVED
OR DON'T DO OBEDIENCE TO GET ANYTHING FROM GOD. WE'RE OBEDIENT
BECAUSE THE BLOOD'S BEEN SHED. IT'S ALL OF GRACE. IT'S ALL OF
GRACE. IT CANNOT POSSIBLY FAIL. THE
LORD'S MADE THIS COVENANT. AND I TELL YOU WE GOT A STRONG
CONSOLATION. STRONG CONSOLATION. WE FLED TO
JESUS FOR REFUGE. NOW I WANT TO SHOW YOU TWO MORE
THINGS HERE AND I'LL QUIT. Look in verse 10. Now this is
the 70 and Nadab in a bayou. And they saw the God of Israel.
They saw Him. And there was under His feet,
as it were, a paved work, a sapphire stone, and as it were, the body
of heaven in its clearness. First they saw God. They saw
God. And look what it says in verse
12. excuse me, verse 11, and they
saw God, and they also saw God, and that's part of verse 11,
and did eat and drink. When you see God, you can have
communion with him. We eat his blood, we drink his
blood, and eat his flesh. I said, only after the blood,
they saw him. Now we can eat, now we can drink.
Now we can have fellowship with him, we can commune with him.
And look what else it said down here. In verse 11, and upon the
nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand. Oh my,
you know what that means? God ain't gonna lay his hand
on us in wrath, in judgment, nothing. You know why? Huh? As therefore now no condemnation
to them that are in Christ Jesus. Well, well. I'm glad I've decided,
you know, I'm glad the Lord led me to do this. I hope there's
a blessing to you. I really do. I really, really
do. Our Father, thank you for your
abundant mercy given us in Christ our Lord. Thank you for your
precious, precious gospel. Precious to our souls. Precious
to our hearts. precious to our understanding.
Christ himself is precious to us. His blood is precious to
us. His person is precious to us.
And oh Lord, bless you for this wonderful,
wonderful blood that's been applied. We can stand with some confidence
and assurance before you because the blood's been applied. You
see the blood. You see the blood. Thank you
Lord, blessed be your holy name. Amen and amen. Let's sing power
in the blood. Where's it at? Wonder work and
power in the blood. Power in the blood, where's it
at here? 198, okay. Let's stand together
and we'll sing this and you'll be at liberty to go. 198. Would you be free from the burden
of sin? There's power in the blood, power
in the blood. Would you or evil a victory win? There's wonderful power in the
blood. There is power, power, wonder-working
power in the blood. of the Lamb. There is power, power, wonder-working
power in the precious blood of the Lord. Would you be free from your passion
and pride? There's power in the blood, power
in the blood. Come for a cleansing to Calvary's
tide. There's wonderful power in the
blood. wonder-working power. There is power, power, wonder-working
power in the precious blood of the Lamb. Would you be whiter than snow? And if so, there's power in the
blood. Power in the blood. When stains are lost in this
life-living flood, there's wonderful power in the blood. Power, power, wonder-working
power, In the bread of the Lamb. There is power, power, wonder-working
power, In the precious bread of the Lamb. ? Would you do service for Jesus
your King ? There's power in the blood, power in the blood
? You live daily His presence to see ? There's wonderful power
in the blood ? There is power, power, wonder-working power ?
In the blood of the Lamb ? There is power, power, wonder-working
power ? There is power in the blood of the Lamb And it is. We're all evidence of it. See
you tonight, six o'clock, God willing.
