Nobody else like our Lord Jesus. Nobody like Him at all. It says
here in verse 6. For unto us a child is born. Unto us a son is given. God is
born. And the government shall be upon
His shoulder. Oh my, the government is on the
king's shoulder. The government has all the authority and power.
And His name shall be called Wonderful, notice every one of
these things are capitalized these are titles of our Lord
Jesus Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father
and the Prince of Peace and of the increase of His government
and peace there shall be no end His government is going to increase
He is always adding people to His kingdom And there shall be
no end upon the throne of David. That's Christ who has the throne
of David. And upon his kingdom to order
and establish it with judgment and justice from henceforth even
forever. How long is God's kingdom going
to last? Forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts
will perform this. It's going to happen. No doubt
about it. And oh my, God told David that
he would raise up a king to sit on his throne forever and ever.
And now Lord Jesus Christ, after the flesh, was the son of David. He had the right to the heir,
right to the throne. And David only sat on his throne
because of Christ. And I tell you, I want you to
look at this too, over here in 1 Samuel 2. In verse 10, look
what Hannah says when she prays. Of course, she says about the
King. You know what gets me, and I
heard this years and years and years ago,
before I ever started pastoring a church anywhere, is that they
said the Lord Jesus, all these fundamentalists and pre-millennials,
every one of them said that Jesus Christ is a coming King. He's just a coming King. And
he won't receive his kingship and his crown until he comes
back and sets up his throne in Jerusalem. But he can't be king. And I preached one time out of
Acts chapter 17 that there's another king. Paul preached this,
there's another king, and they said this is what makes us so
mad Paul. There's another king, even the
Lord Jesus Christ. And they said, oh no, no, no,
no, that guy won't be right. And they excluded me from that
congregation for saying Christ reigns right now. He reigned
before God ever created this world. He reigned before He ever
come into this world. He reigned while He was on this
earth. And He reigns now and He'll always reign. And He must
reign until the last century is destroyed. And that is death
and He'll put it under His feet. And look what Hannah said here
in 1 Samuel 2.10. The adversaries of the Lord shall
be broken to pieces. Out of heaven shall He thunder
upon them. The Lord shall judge the ends
of the earth, and He shall give strength unto His King, and exalt
the horn of His anointed." Oh God highly exalted He sat. And
you know what it said about our Lord Jesus Christ? When He came,
when He was born into this world, when He came into this world
through the womb of a virgin, It says, Herod says this, where
is he that is born King of the Jews? He said, I hear that there's
a King born. I hear there's a child born. And they say he's the King of
the Jews and he's the King. Where is he so I can go worship
him? He wasn't going to go worship him. He wanted him dead. He wanted
him killed. And our kingdom, our Lord's kingdom
is forever and ever and ever. Daniel said it like this. His
kingdom shall reign forever and all other kingdoms will he destroy. And his dominion, his dominion
is from everlasting to everlasting. That means he's everywhere. Ruling
everywhere. Tell you something else about
our Lord Jesus Christ. The kingdom of our Lord is a
righteous kingdom. A righteous kingdom. Saul's kingdom
was weak, faulty, and eventually failed. But the kingdom of our
Lord Jesus is a righteous kingdom and it's established upon righteous.
And that's what the difference is about the gospel. That's what
makes the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to be so glorious. He established his kingdom on
righteousness. You can't get into this kingdom
unless you're made righteous. You can't be in this kingdom
without being righteous. You can't be in this kingdom
unless He makes you righteous and takes you to come into this
kingdom. Now how did He establish it upon righteousness? He said
He made an end of sins and brought in everlasting righteousness.
How did He establish it upon righteousness? All other kings
came just to rule and to reign and keep people under subjection.
That's what they said about Saul. They said, when Saul's made king,
he's going to take your sons, your strongest sons, he's going
to take your daughters to cook, he's going to take your land,
he's going to take your vineyards, he's going to take everything,
he's going to take the best of everything you've got. But our
Lord Jesus Christ is the one that's got everything, and he
gives us the best he's got. And so he established his kingdom
upon righteousness. He established a king, a kingdom,
that he, if you get into his kingdom, you got to come under
his rule, you got to come under his reign. And you can't come
under his rule and under his reign until he makes you righteous
to get into that kingdom. How does he make you righteous?
Well, He Himself bore our sins in His own body on that tree.
He was the King when He done that. That's what they put over
His cross. They put it in three different
languages. Latin for the Romans, Hebrew for the Jews, and Greek
for the Greeks. Three different types. King,
King, King, King, King. Everybody else, you know, if
they're a king, they won't take from you. But our Lord Jesus
Christ gives to us. He puts us a robe on us. The
king had a wedding. Matthew 20. The king had a wedding,
Matthew 20. And everybody come in had to have
a wedding garment on. You didn't get into this kingdom
without a wedding garment at all. And that wedding garment
was provided by Christ. And then all of a sudden there
was a fellow there who said, have this guy get in here. He
said, he ain't got on no wedding garment. You can't stay in this
kingdom. You ain't invited to the wedding.
You don't have no wedding garment. And they said, well take him
by and get him out of here. Oh, listen, Christ put the garment
on all of his people and he did it righteously. And oh, how do
you get into this kingdom? By repentance and faith. Well,
where do you get repentance and where do you get faith? You're
not born with it. It's not natural to us. I was
reading, Steve gave me this thing here. It tells you all you've
got to do Let me show you this here. This is how simple, how
foolish people are. First thing is, they say here
to get into God's kingdom, realize that God loves you. And God loves
you and He has a plan for your life. And it says all sins have separated
us from God. And the wages of sin is death.
You've got to say that. Well the good news is that Christ
paid for our sins. And now listen. And we must personally
pray and receive Jesus Christ as our Savior. Now how in the
world do you do that? How do you receive Christ Jesus
as your Savior? How do you get in the Kingdom
of God? Is it that simple? Realizing God loves you? This
world don't know anything at all about the love of God. If
the love of God is for everybody, then it means nothing to anybody. But how do we get into this kingdom?
Our Lord said repent and believe. Where are we going to get repentance?
Where are we going to get this change of mind? About ourselves,
about God, about sin, about righteousness. And that's what repentance means,
a change of mind. Where are we going to get this
repentance? And then where are we going to get the faith to
believe? You know what Peter said in Acts 5.31? Him, have God exalted
to his right hand as a prince and a savior to give repentance
and faith to who? Israel. I wasn't born with faith. I can't
even muster faith now. Have you ever been in such a
situation where you really wanted to believe and you said, Lord,
I believe you're in a situation. You say, Lord, I believe and
I trust you. But please, please help mine believe while I deal
with this thing. Oh, my. And oh, my. That's why our Lord says, seek
ye first the kingdom of God. King of God and His righteousness.
And let me tell you another way you get into this kingdom. You
get in by the king's power. If the king don't let you in,
you ain't getting in. Is that not right? The king's
the one sitting on the throne. And how do you get into this
kingdom? Well, you get in by the king's power, by the king's
authority. And one thing about our king
is he don't ask anybody to do anything. He always tells people
what to do. That's the difference between
Armenians God and our God. They say God wants to and we
say God does. How are we going to get in the
king by his power? Well he's got the power. You
know he's got such power. that He has enough power to send
forth His power and break His people willing in the day of
His power. And then not only that, beloved,
but He has the power to give you the new birth and to regenerate
you and change your will and change your nature and change
your heart to bring you into His kingdom. Because that's the
only kind of people who can be in His kingdom. Oh, aren't you grateful that
He does this for you? Oh my! I'd like to see some earthly
king. You know, you can get into His
kingdom. You may even become one of His counselors of a king
in this world. Over in Saudi Arabia, they got
kings, kings, and princes, and princes. They got them everywhere. But they ain't got the power
to give you a new heart. They ain't got the power to give
you a new will. They ain't got the power to give
you a new mind. They ain't got the power to change your will.
They don't have that power, but our King has that power. And
when our Lord Jesus Christ, whenever He went and done something for
somebody, just, just, just, you know, when that impotent man
was laying there, He looked at him and said, will you be made
whole? Rise up! stretch forth your hand and with
the command comes the ability because he gives you the ability
to do what he tells you he said come unto me and if you're his
you're coming oh seek ye my face Lord thy face
I'm gonna seek And let me show you John 18. Look at this here about our Lord
Jesus Christ. John 18. I'm going to preach
from this again Sunday. Out of John 18. I've been preaching
out the last two weeks and will preach out of it again. God willing. But look here at John 18.34. Verse 33 then piled into the
judgment hall again and called Jesus said unto him art thou
the king of the Jews Our Lord answered him saying Sayest thou
this thing of thyself or did others tell it to me? Do you
say I'm king or does somebody tell you I'm king? Do you know
it for yourself or somebody else tell you? That's a good question
Do you see Christ as your king or just somebody tell you? But
now what what happened now? Pilate answered, Am I a Jew?
Thine own nation and the chief priest have delivered thee unto
me. What hast thou done? Listen to now, listen to what
our master answered. Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. You know, we are true strangers
and pilgrims in this world. Christ's kingdom is not of this
world. And oh, he said, If my kingdom were of this world, Then
would my servants fight that I should not be delivered by
the Jews. But now is my kingdom not from
here. Pilate therefore said unto him,
Art thou a king then? Our Lord answered, Thou says
that I'm a king. To this end, this is the reason
I was born. And for this cause came I into
the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. I love
it. Everyone that is of the truth,
what does he do? He hears my voice. He hears my voice. And okay,
back over here in 1 Samuel 10. Saul was anointed with the Spirit. Anointed with the Spirit. He
says down there in verse 6, And the Spirit of the Lord will come
upon you. He said down in verse 10, And when they came to the
hill of Behold, a company of prophets met him, and the Spirit
of God came upon him. Now it just came upon him. And
later you'll find out that the Holy Spirit was taken from Saul.
God would do his spirit and send an evil spirit to him. But the
Holy Spirit came upon our Lord Jesus Christ like it, without
measure. He said, our Lord said this,
the Spirit of the Lord hath anointed me, anointed me to preach the
gospel. First of all, to the poor, people
like us, poor of heart, poor of spirit. And the Holy Spirit
was taken from Saul, but the Holy Spirit came upon our Lord
Jesus Christ. And it says in John 3, it says
that God gave him the Spirit without measure. That means without
limit. God gave him the Holy Spirit
without any measure whatsoever. And the Holy Spirit, you know,
God told John, said, whoever you see the Spirit of God come
upon as a dove, said, you'll know that's my son. You'll know
that's the Messiah. You'll know that's the Christ.
Well, they, John, took him out and baptized him. And he baptized
him. And while they stand there, when
our Lord rose up out of the water, a dove came down. The Holy Spirit
come down in the form of a dove and lighted upon him. and then
a voice came from heaven says this is my beloved son in whom
I am well pleased oh the spirit come upon him it was the Holy
Spirit that led him into the wilderness to be tempted of the
devil and they said about our Lord Jesus Christ thy King comes
to you meek and lowly riding upon a colt the foal of an ass
And you know how he was able to suffer the way he suffered?
And drink that cup that he drank that I mentioned the other day. The Holy Spirit enabled him to
do that. Held him up. The Holy Spirit
enabled him to suffer. The Holy Spirit enabled him to
die. And the Spirit of God raised him from the dead. And our Lord
Jesus Christ, God said about him, He said, It pleased the
Father that in him should all fullness dwell. And then he was
despised and rejected. back over here in this chapter
10 look what it says Saul was despised and rejected because
of his weakness but look what it said here in verse 11 and
it came to pass when all that knew him before saw that behold
he prophesied among the prophets then the people said one to another
what is this that has come unto Saul the son of Kish is Saul
also among the prophets? Sarcastic and more of the same
place answered and said but who is their father? Therefore it
became a proverb. It's all also among the prophets
So my and then look down verse 27 But the children of Belial said
how shall this man save us and they despised him and brought
him no presents But he held his peace Now he was despised and
rejected, but he was rejected because of his weaknesses and
his inability. Our Lord Jesus was rejected and
despised because of his perfection and his glory. That's why he
was despised. Saul was despised because of
his weakness. Christ was despised. They said
that he was without form and comeliness and there's no beauty
about him that we should desire him. He's as a root out of dry
ground. And our Lord was rejected and
despised because of his glory, because of his perfections. That's
why they couldn't stand him. That's why they despised him.
And our Lord, when he came into this world, his light, his glory,
Reveal the awful awful darkness of this world and the darkness
in the minds and hearts of those around He said this is the judgment
That light come into the world And men walked over here and
saw that light and walked right back into the darkness because
they loved it more than they did that light oh my And I'll
tell you what happened here too, and I'll hurry up I know it's
hot in here, but look what it says here now in verse 22 of
1 Samuel 10. Therefore they inquired
of the Lord Father, if the man should yet come here, talking
about Saul now. And the Lord answered, behold,
he hath hid himself among the stuff. Saul hid himself. He didn't want to fulfill his
anointing. He hid. And he was probably out
of fear. But our Lord Jesus Christ did
just the opposite. When they came to get him, you
know what it says? Christ went forth. He went forth. To even to his
enemies. And He had His face set like
a flint to Jerusalem. He came to do a work. He came
to glorify His Father. He came to do His Father's will.
And He did it. He never shrunk from anything
He was called upon to do. Being found in fashion as a man,
He humbled Himself and became obedient even unto death, the
death of the cross. Our Lord says, My mean is to
do the will of Him that sent Me. He came to save his people. Did he save them? And then he
also said this, that all that he was given to him, he would
not lose a one of them. Not a one of them. And not only
that, but he had raised every one of them up at the last day. And then he says this, Father,
I finished the work You gave me
to do. Now, now glorify me with your
own self. With the glory that I had with
you before the world was. That's a long time ago. That's
a long time ago. Our Father, in the precious name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, I thank you for the truth as it is in
Him. And Lord, when we hear the truth, we know we're hearing
your voice. When we hear the truth about
ourselves, we hear your voice. When we hear the truth about
your person, we hear your voice. When we hear the truth about
your sovereignty, we hear your voice. When we hear the truth
about you saving your people from their sin, we hear your
voice. Thank you for speaking to us.
Thank you for teaching us the truth. And God, continue to teach
us truth. Continue to work in our hearts
to believe it, to bow to it, submit to it, and bring glory
to yourself through us. We ask these things in Christ's
holy name. Amen. Let's turn to Solomon. Let's turn to number one in the
hymn book. Let's stand together and sing
this in your new blue belt. and his love, our shield and
defender, the Ancient of Days. Thou bountiful care, what tongue
can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines
in the light. It streams from the hills, it
listens to the flood. children of God.
