In "Storm Warning #35," the main theological topic discussed is the sovereign grace of God in the salvation of sinners through Jesus Christ. The speakers emphasize the nature of salvation, highlighting that it is a free and unmerited gift from God, rather than a result of human effort or merit. They reference a range of Scripture, including Romans 5:8, Galatians 3:13, and John 3:14, to illustrate the multifaceted benefits of Christ's atoning work, such as redemption, justification, and reconciliation. The sermon underscores the significance of understanding faith as a gift from God rather than a mere emotional experience, urging listeners to cling to the truth of the gospel and flee to Christ for salvation, especially in light of imminent judgment. The message calls believers to recognize their total dependence on God's grace and encourages the humble to find comfort and assurance in Christ's completed work.

Warm greetings, friends, near
and far! The Lord Jesus Christ be magnified
for ever and ever! His lovingkindnesses, tender
mercies, and compassions are new every morning. Great is His
faithfulness! His mercy endureth for ever! This is Sinner Saved coming at
you with the following short evangelistic gospel message,
which is sponsored by preacher Wayne Boyd and the Brethren in
Christ at First Baptist Church, located in Almonte, Michigan,
USA. And God willing, this broadcast
will reach you, Lima Charlie, loud and clear. It is my hope
and prayer unto God most high, the only holy father, that his
only begotten son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our righteousness, be
greatly exalted, that his everlasting gospel be clearly proclaimed,
that the pride of mere flesh and blood men be humbled, and
that his elect saints be greatly encouraged and comforted in these
evil and perilous days. Please consider having paper
and pencil handy to jot down the scriptural references for
your own follow-up study. And so we begin with the weekend
gospel message to follow for all hands. Heads up! Please find enclosed encouragement
in so great salvation by the perfect and finished work of
our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy, and wretched sinners
by his sovereign free grace. That is to say, Almighty God
and His unmerited favor to save me and you from our sins and
from hell. Blessed are the humble souls
that see their emptiness and poverty. Treasures of grace to
them are given, and crowns of joy laid up in heaven. Blessed
are the men of broken heart who mourn for sin with inward smart. The blood of Christ divinely
flows, a healing balm for all their woes. Blessed are the meek
who stand afar from rage and passion, noise and war. God will
secure their happy state and plead their cause against the
great. Blessed are the souls that thirst
for grace, hunger and thirst for righteousness. They shall
be well supplied and fed with living streams and living bread. Blessed are the men whose hearts
do move and melt with sympathy and love. From Christ the Lord
shall they obtain like sympathy and love again. Blessed are the
pure whose hearts are clean from the defiling powers of sin. With endless pleasure they shall
see a God of spotless purity. Blessed are the men of peaceful
life who quench the coals of growing strife. They shall be
called the heirs of bliss, the sons of God, the God of peace.
Blessed are the sufferers who partake of pain and shame for
Jesus' sake. Their souls shall triumph in
the Lord. Glory and joy are their reward. That was from old time preacher
Isaac Watts. Benefits through Christ's death. Paul the Apostle tells saints,
Christ died for us, Romans 5.8. This phrase has two meanings.
First, Christ died as our substitute, vicariously in our place instead,
suffering the penalty of death we deserve, as in Isaiah chapter
53. Second, Christ died for our benefit. The death of Christ, including
the giving of his life and the shedding of his blood, resulted
in many blessings to God's people. including these 14. First, saved
from sins, John 19.30 and Matthew 1.21. For when he shouted, it
is finished, he fulfilled the prophecy. He will save his people
from their sins. Second, redeemed from the law,
Galatians 3.13. Christ has redeemed us from the
curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written,
cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree. Deuteronomy 21, 23. Third, ransomed from captors. Matthew 20, 28. The son of man
did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life
a ransom for many. Fourth, justified from guilt. Romans 5, 9. We have been justified
by his blood. Fifth, sanctified from the world
and unto God. Hebrews 10.10, we have been sanctified
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Sixth, cleansed from defilement. Revelation 1.5, Jesus Christ
washed us from our sins in his own blood. Seventh, healed from
infirmities. Isaiah 53.5, by his stripes we
are healed. Eighth, delivered from God's
wrath. 1 Thessalonians 1.10, Jesus delivers
us from the wrath to come. Ninth, brought to God. Ephesians
2.13, you who were once were far off have been brought near
by the blood of Christ. 10th, reconciled unto God, Romans
5, 10. When we were enemies, we were
reconciled to God through the death of his son. 11th, forgiven
of debts to God, Matthew 26, 28. For this is my blood of the
new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins,
said the Lord Jesus. 12th, purified in the conscience,
Hebrews 9, 14. The blood of Christ, who through
the eternal spirit offered himself without blemish to God, will
purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. 13th, assured of eternal life,
John 3.14. And as Moses lifted up the serpent
in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal
life. and 14th, perfected forever. Hebrews 10, 14, for by one offering
he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. And
that was from preacher Daniel Parks, located somewhere in the
U.S. Virgin Islands. I am not ashamed, 2 Timothy 1,
12. For the which cause I also suffer
these things, nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom
I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that
which I have committed unto him against that day. Borrowing some
of the words of an old writer, I say this deliberately and emphatically. I am fully aware that the message
of God's sovereign and free grace is not popular and acceptable
in this day. It is despised by many, but none
of these things move me. I am not ashamed of what I believe,
nor of Him who is my hope. After 40 years of Bible reading
and preaching, I find myself clinging more tightly than ever
to the gospel of free grace. And more than ever, I am satisfied
with it. It wears well. It stands the
fire. It glorifies God. It comforts
the heart. It is true to the word of Almighty
God. In the faith of our sovereign
Redeemer, I have lived for over a third of a century. And in
that faith, I hope to die. That's from preacher Henry Mahan. He preached that in the year
of our Lord, 1989, and he's currently with the master in paradise.
Faith, not a feeling. Salvation is not a question of
feeling as so many would make it. It is entirely a matter of
faith in a person. In an accomplished fact, faith
wrought in the soul of a sinner by the power of the Holy Ghost.
This faith is something quite different from a mere feeling
of the person or an assent of the intellect. Mere feeling and
sentimentality, or emotion, can never rise above the source from
whence they come, and that source is self. But faith has to do
with God and His eternal word, and is a living link. and connecting
the heart that possesses it with God who gives it. Feelings and
sentiments can never connect with the soul of God. No doubt
faith will produce feelings and sentiments, that is, spiritual
feelings and truthful sentiments, but the fruits of faith must
never be confounded with faith itself. He can only be known
by his own revelation and by the faith which he himself imparts. Ephesians 2.8, for by grace are
ye saved through faith. And that, meaning faith, not
of yourselves. It is the gift of God. And that
short message was from preacher Scott Richardson. Do you confess
that Christ is Lord? We all know that none are saved
except those who confess that Christ is Lord. But what does
it mean to confess Christ as Lord? All religious people make
such a confession with their lips, but that certainly cannot
be salvation. Even Satan acknowledges the Lordship
of Christ in that way. To confess that Christ is Lord
is to acknowledge Him as Lord by a heart surrender and commitment
to Him as such. True saving faith involves a
submission of the heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. This submission
of the heart to Christ is the ruling principle of every believer's
life. Without this voluntary submission
of the heart, there is no salvation. The Master said in John 3, 6,
that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born
of the Spirit is Spirit. There is no promise made that
we shall be set free in this life from the in-being and the
in-working of sin. Many think that they are to become
progressively holier and holier, that sin after sin is to be removed
gradually out of the heart until at last they are almost made
perfect in the flesh. This is but an idle dream, and
one which sooner or later, in the case of God's people, will
be rudely and roughly broken to pieces. Nature will ever remain
the same, and we shall ever find that the flesh will lust against
the spirit. Our Adamic nature is corrupt
to the very core. It cannot be mended. It cannot
be sanctified. It is at the last what it was
at the first, inherently evil, and as such will never cease
to be corrupt till we put off mortality, and with it the body
of sin and death. All we can hope for, long after,
expect and pray for is that this evil nature may be subdued, kept
down, mortified, crucified, and held in subjection under the
power of grace, But as to any such change passing upon it or
taking place in it as to make it holy, it is but a Pharisaic
delusion, which, promising a holiness in the flesh, leaves us still
under the power of sin, whilst it opposes with deadly enmity
that true sanctification of the new man of grace. which is wrought
by a divine power, and is utterly distinct from any fancied holiness
in the flesh, or any vain dream of its progressive sanctification."
That was old-timer preacher J.C. Philpott, around the year of
our Lord, 1850. It is written in Isaiah 45, 22,
where our Lord Jesus Christ commands, Look unto me and be ye saved,
all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else. And our beloved master says in
Matthew 11, 28 through 30, come unto me, all ye that labor and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you
and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart. And ye shall
find rest unto your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden
is light. Friends, it is imperative that
you flee to Christ Jesus today, not tomorrow, for none of us
are promised another day on this planet. Today is the day of salvation. Call upon the name of the Lord
while he may be found, and seek him while he is near. Only by
being in Christ, the ark of our salvation, may we be delivered
from the fierce wrath of Almighty God, which is coming soon upon
the wicked. This about wraps up this evening's
broadcast. I trust Almighty God will awaken
His sleeping elect and draw multitudes of men, women, and children around
the world. to his only begotten son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our
righteousness, Yehovah Sidkenu. Bless the name. Baruch Hashem. If you're a letter to the Lord
