It thrills my soul to see God's
people enjoying one another's company, being able to fellowship
together. Lord, make me to know mine end
and the measure of my days, what it is that I may know how frail
I am. Behold, thou hast made my days
as a hand breath. And mine age is as nothing before
thee. Verily, every man at his very
best state is altogether vanity. Let's stand together. Tom's going
to come lead us in number 228. 228 in the hardbacked hymnal. My faith has found a resting
place, not in device nor creed. I trust the Ever-Living One,
His wounds for me shall bleed. I need no other argument, I need
no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died,
and that he died for me. Enough for me that Jesus saves,
this ends my fear and doubt. A sinful soul, I come to Him,
He'll never cast me out. I need no other argument, I need
no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died,
and that he died for me. My heart is leaning on the Word,
the written Word of God. Salvation by my Savior's name,
salvation through His blood. I need no other argument, I need
no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died,
and that He died for me. My great physician heals the
sick, the lost he came to save. For me his precious blood he
shed, for me his life he gave. I need no other argument, I need
no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died
and that he died for me. Please be seated. Good morning. We're going to
be reading from scripture in Philippians, the book of Philippians
chapter 3. Philippians 3. Finally, my brethren, rejoice
in the Lord. To write the same things to you,
to me indeed is not grievous, but to you it is safe. Beware
of dogs, beware of evil walkers, beware of the concession For
we are the circumcision which worship God in spirit and rejoice
in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh. That's where the
believers always rejoice. We rejoice in Christ, in the
person of Christ and his work. And we have no confidence in
the flesh. Though I may have have also confidence in the flesh.
If any man thinketh that he has wherefore he might trust in the
flesh, I more circumcise the eighth day, the stock of Israel,
of the tribe of Benjamin, A Hebrew of the Hebrews as touching the
law, a Pharisee concerning seal, persecuting the church, touching
the righteousness, which is of the law, in the law, blameless. So Paul was saying, if there's
a human being that should have or can have confidence in flesh,
it will be Paul. Both in his seal, both in the
outward, what people saw, right? But what things were gained to
me, what that means, what he trusted in the past, the religious
trust, those are counted lost for Christ. And I count all things but loss
for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, whom
I have suffered the loss of all things. And I do count them done
that I may win Christ. So there is nothing of value
in our lives or in this world. When we know Christ, he brings
light, he lets us see that. And I be found in him, and this
is what it's all about, isn't it? To be found in Christ. Not
having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that
which is through faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of
God by faith. The righteousness of God is the
Lord Jesus Christ. That I may know him, again, this
is, what our Christian life is about is to know the Lord Jesus
Christ, that I may know him and the power of his resurrection
and the fellowship of his sufferings be made conformable unto his
death. That's what we heard this morning,
didn't we? And if by any means I might attain
unto the resurrection of the dead, not as though I have already
attained, either we are already perfect, but I follow after if
that I may apprehend that which has also I am apprehended of,
Christ Jesus. Burden I cannot myself to have
apprehended it, but this one thing I do. forgetting those
things which are behind and reaching forth into those things which
are before. I press towards the mark for
the price of the high calling of God, in Christ Jesus. That's what we press forward,
Christ Jesus. Therefore, as many as be perfect,
thus minded, And if anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall
reveal even this unto us. May God reveal that to us. Nevertheless,
where though we have already tainted, let us walk by the same
rule, let us mind the same thing. Burden be followers together
of me, and mark them which walk so as we have also as an example. For many walk, of whom I have
told often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies
of the cross of Christ, whose end is their destruction, whose
God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who
mine earthly things. For our conversation is in heaven. From where we also look for the
Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, whom shall change our vile body,
and this is a hope as well, that he change this vile body, that
we may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according
to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things
unto himself. Father God, we come before you
this morning in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, by his work,
by his salvation. Father, we thank you for the
Lord Jesus Christ. We thank you that we have a place
here among the burden to come hear the gospel, to hear about
the Lord Jesus Christ. We now pray that your Holy Spirit
will enable our pastor to preach Christ to preaching clearly. We pray that the Holy Spirit
would allow us to see more of Christ and to be drawn onto him. Father, we pray this also for
all the other churches that preach the gospel father that they may
be drawn to the Lord Jesus Christ. In his name we pray. Amen. Let's stand together once again.
We'll sing the hymn found on the back of your bulletin. On
the back of your bulletin. With broken heart and contrite
side A trembling sinner, Lord, I cry Thy pardoning grace is
rich and free O God, be merciful to me I smite upon my troubled breast
With deep and conscious guilt oppressed Christ and His cross
my only plea O God, be merciful to me No works nor deeds that I have
done can for a single sin atone. To Christ the Lord alone I flee. O God, be merciful to me. And when redeemed from sin and
hell, with all the ransomed throng I dwell, my raptured song shall
ever be, God has been merciful to me. Please be seated. Lauren Culver's
gonna bring some special music now. Be thou my vision, O Lord of
mine heart. Not be all else to me, save that
thou art. Thou my best thought, by day
or by night. Waking or sleeping, thy presence
my light. Be thou my wisdom and thou my
true word. ? I ever with thee and thou with
me, Lord ? ? Thou my great Father, I thy true Son ? ? Thou in me
dwelling and I with thee one ? Riches I heed not, nor man's
empty praise, Thou mine inheritance now and always, Thou and Thou
only, first in my heart. High King of Heaven, my treasure
Thou art, High King of heaven, my victory won, May I reach heaven's
joys, O bright heaven's sun, Heart of mine own heart, whatever
befall. Still be my vision, O ruler of
all. Thank you, Lord. Whatever befall, still be my
vision, my Lord, my all. I'd like for you to open your
Bibles with me to the last page, last paragraph of Revelation
chapter 22. Last couple of weeks we've looked
at Revelation 21 and 22 and been encouraged to see how the Lord
has closed the canon of his word with this description of the
believer's hope. It shows us a glorious picture
of Christ and what he's provided for his church in heaven. We saw the new Jerusalem coming
down from heaven. We saw the picture of Christ
being their God and they being his people. seems to me that we ought to
give some special attention to what the Lord considered to be
important enough to sum up his word. All of the Bible is the
word of God, we know that. It's all inspired, it's all,
none of it's a private interpretation, it's God-breathed, and it's all
here in order to speak of Christ. the Word of God in the volume
of the book it is written of me. It reveals the Lord Jesus
Christ to us. It reveals us for what we are,
sinners in need of a Savior, and it reveals the means by which
God is pleased to save sinners, the life and the death of the
Lord Jesus Christ. But as we come to these final
verses in God's Word, We must be struck with the importance
of what the Lord is stressing here to us. What does he say
to sum up this complete revelation of his glory and of Christ to
us? And the summary is here in verse
17. where the spirit and the bride
say, come, come. We saw that in the passage of
scripture we just looked at in Hebrews chapter four, let us
therefore, what? Come boldly with confidence to
the throne of grace that we might find mercy and help in our time
of need. And now the Lord again, In bringing
to a close the entire revelation of the Gospel, he says, the Spirit
of God, that's the Holy Spirit, He's the one who has to speak
truth to our hearts. He's the one who has to give
us faith. He's the one who has to miraculously regenerate us. He makes us to be sinners. He
gives us sight to see Christ. He gives us ears to hear the
Gospel. We are completely dependent.
upon the work of the Holy Spirit to point us and reveal to us
and enable us to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. And so the
Spirit, what does he say? If he speaks to you, if he speaks
to me, here's what he says. Come. Come. Come to Christ. And the bride,
who's the bride? That's us. That's the church. What do we say? We say the same
thing the Holy Spirit says. We say, come to Christ. And I
say this morning on the authority of God's word, come to Christ. And I hear someone thinking right
now, well, I've already done that. If that's what you're thinking,
then you don't understand what it means to come to Christ. If you're thinking right now,
well, he's talking to lost people about coming to Christ. No, no. No. If you've ever come to Christ,
you know that it is one to whom you are always coming. Always
coming. And if you think that I've handled
that, I've taken care of that, I came to Christ, I've been saved,
now tell me something better. There is nothing better. Help
me to know where the rubber meets the road. This is where the rubber
meets the road. Coming to Christ. Coming to Christ. And it's what the believer is
always doing. And I want you, whether it be
for the first time, or for the 20th time today, I want you and me in our hearts. to do what the Spirit and the
Bride say to do. I want you to come. Now verse 1, verse 16, tells
us to whom we are to come. It's one thing to say, well,
just come to Christ. Well, who is He? Who is he? How do I come
to him? I've got to know something about
him before I can come to him. And yes, you do. And here the
Lord reveals himself first as Jesus. Jesus. Now I know that that name is
thrown around with such ease today, but it's not the Jesus
of scripture that men are talking about. It's a Jesus who loves
everybody, a Jesus who died for everybody, a Jesus who wants
everybody to be saved. You listen to men talk about
Jesus today and they're talking about this little God with a small G who's in the
heavens wringing his hands and wishing that men would let him
have his way. That's not the Jesus of scripture. His name means Jehovah saves. It doesn't mean that he tries
to save, it doesn't mean that he wants to save, it doesn't
mean that he's done his part to save. You shall call his name
Jesus, the angel said, for he shall save his people. The name Jesus is very precious
to us because in that name We have the whole of our salvation.
And let men blaspheme the name of Jesus by defining him in a
way that's inconsistent with who he is. And that'll be what
it is. But when he says Jesus, we know. This is Joshua. This is the one
who brought the children of Israel across the Jordan into the promised
land and gave them rest. This is the one who finished
the work, provided for them his rest, the rest that he had accomplished. in satisfying all the demands
of God's holy law. He's the one who is the end of
the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth. So to
whom do we come? Jesus. I, Jesus, have sent my
angel, my messenger. And how, that's what we're doing
right now. We're just declaring what God
has said. We're just taking the message
from God's word and declaring it to God's people. I sent my angel to speak of me, to declare me,
to testify unto you these things in the churches. These words
are true and these words are faithful. And all we're doing
is testifying to that which God has already revealed. I am. Here's the one to whom we come. When he met with Moses at the
burning bush, Moses said, Lord, who should I send sent me? And what did the Lord say? Tell
him, I am hath sent you. That name sums up who He is. He's the Alpha and the Omega,
the beginning and the end, the first and the last. He's everything. He's not derived. He's not created. He's not dependent or contingent
on anything. He's not like us. When He says,
I am, He's saying, I exist within myself. That can't be said of
anything else. Only God. can call himself, I
am. And when those Roman soldiers
came to arrest him in the Garden of Gethsemane, and he asked,
who you're looking for? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. And he said, what? He said, I
am. I am. Oh, and those Roman soldiers
fell backwards, didn't they? And so will you. So will I. If we hear him say, I am the
first and the last. I am the resurrection from the
dead. I am the way, the truth, and
the life. I am the bread of life. I'm all that you need. I'm everything in salvation. I am the root and the offspring
of David. That means that he's defining
his two natures here. I'm the root of David. I'm the
cause of David. And I'm the offspring of David.
He's talking about his deity and his humanity. He's talking
about himself as the unique God-man. Fully God and fully man. David
called him Lord. Who do you say that the son of
David is? Why did David call him Lord?
Why did David call him Lord? He said, my Lord said unto my
Lord, sit down here at my right hand, at my feet, until I make
thine enemies thy footstool. He's the root and the offspring
of David. He came into this world through
the lineage of King David in order to rule and reign over
the kingdom of God. I'm Jesus. I am the root and
the offspring of David, the bright and morning star. What is the bright and morning
star? It's the sun that comes up every morning. That's the
bright and morning star. I read somewhere recently, a
lot of young people don't realize that the sun is a star, but it
is. And it's the, you know, it's the one that comes up over the
horizon in the east every morning. And no darkness, no darkness
can stand its light. It pushes away all the darkness. I am the bright and morning star.
Oh, that he would be pleased to rise in our hearts and to
push away the darkness of our sin and to enlighten the truth
of who he is in our hearts. I'm the bright and the morning
star. So we have in verse 16, to whom
we are to come. Have you come to him? Have you
come to Jesus? The one who holds all of your
salvation in his hand? Have you come to the eternal,
infinite, self-existent, glorious creator and sustainer of all
of life who calls himself I AM? completely depended upon him,
the one who is the root, the cause of David, and he is the
offspring of David, the God-man, God's perfect man and man's perfect
God, the only one who was able to be touched with the feelings
of our infirmities and satisfy the demands of God's law all
by himself. The only one who is able to touch
God and not be destroyed and touch man and not be defiled. We have a man who is in the heavens. An intercessor. One who stands
between us and God. That's who He is. That's to whom
we come. We're not coming to a doctrine.
We're not coming to some false hope of having a better tomorrow
in this life. We're coming to one who is able
to save the Savior. That's why he came. This is a
faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. Christ Jesus
came into the world to do what? To save sinners. Sinners are
the ones who come to Christ. Who is it that comes? Look what
he says in verse 17, And the Spirit and the bride say, Come,
and let him that heareth come. Let him that heareth come. They
that are of the truth hear my voice, and they follow me. Have
you heard him? Have you heard his voice? I'm
not talking about an audible hearing. I'm talking about something
a whole lot louder than that. The hearing of the Spirit of
God through faith in the heart that can never be denied. The
hearing of knowing that when God opens up your ears, no man
can shut it. When God teaches you the truth
about who Christ is, about who you are, about what it is He's
accomplished for you, you can't unhear it. You've heard. You've heard that God is sovereign
in salvation. And you believed it. You've heard
that God Almighty sovereignly elected a particular people according
to His own will and purpose before the world ever began. You've
heard that those whom He chose were dead in their trespasses
and sins, unable to do anything to save themselves. You've heard
that. And you can't hear him preached high enough. And you
can't hear yourself preached low enough. And you can't hear
grace preached free enough. You've just heard. You've heard
that when the Lord Jesus Christ came into this world, that he
fulfilled all by himself the demands of God's law and established
a righteousness for those whom God chose, that they were all
found in Christ, that his life is their life. You just read
Hugo from Philippians, that we fellowship with his suffering. and we fellowship with his resurrection. In other words, the only hope
that I have to stand before God is to hear the truth that when
Christ lived, I was in Christ. When he died, I was in Christ.
And I can say with the Apostle Paul, I was crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live, yet not
I, but it's Christ that liveth in me, the life that I now live
in the flesh. I live by the faith of the Son
of God who loved me and died for me. I've heard that. Have you heard? You tell people
this, they say, no, I don't believe that. I was talking to somebody
recently, he said, if I believed that, I would lose all my faith. That's what they said. I'd lose
all my faith if I believed that. Everything that I've ever decided
to believe upon has just been blown out of the water if that's
true. I said, yep, you would. You would. The problem with the
faith that you have is it's not based on the truth. And it won't
save your soul. It won't save your soul. Let
him that heareth. Who is it that comes? Who is
it that comes? They that hear are the ones that
come. They that hear that the Lord
Jesus Christ met the demands of God's justice. That he succeeded
in making righteous all of God's people through his life and through
his death on Calvary's cross. That he accomplished their salvation. That he's not waiting on man
to do his part. He's already finished the work.
They hear that. Have you heard that? It's what
God says. If you hear, you're gonna come. People hear and they say, oh
no, I can't keep that. I can't believe that. Have you
heard that he's the only one that can keep you from falling
and present you faultless before his throne with great joy? Have
you heard that he's never lost one? That he's promised to keep
all of his sheep and present them before God? Have you heard
that he's going, that he's successful? Every one of his people, every
single one of them, have you heard? They that heareth the
truth, they come. They come to Jesus, the glorious
I am, the root and the offspring of David. That's who they come
to. Have you heard him say, come unto me? All ye that labor and
are heavy burdened, and I'll give you rest, for my yoke is
easy. Learn of me, my burden is light. Have you heard him say that?
Again, we're not talking about the complicated circumstances
of life, though we come to him for everything. We're talking
here primarily about our sin. There's a whole lot of folks
laboring. laboring to get out from underneath the burden of
sin, but they never find rest in Christ. Why? Because they
haven't heard. They haven't heard. How shall
they believe on Him in whom they have not heard, and how shall
they hear without a preacher? That's why we do what we do.
We preach the gospel. And I know right now that God's
people are coming. They're just coming. Yes, that's
the one I need. That's what I've heard. The Spirit
and the bride says, come. That's my warrant for coming. The well need a physician. I did not come for the righteous.
Sick people come. Those who hear about their sickness
of sin, they come, they come. A lot of folks will hear, and
then they'll respond to what they hear by saying, well, yeah,
but, and they don't come. Who is it that comes? The Spirit
and the bride say, come, let him that heareth come, and let
him who is a thirst come. You know, we come into this world
drinking, from the polluted waters of broken cisterns and satisfied
with that. It's not until the Lord gives
us a hunger and thirst for righteousness that we come to Christ. It's
not until the Lord makes us to be a sinner and causes us to
realize how polluted that well really is. that we're able to
hear what the Lord said of the woman at the well. Drink of this
well and you're going to thirst again. But drink of the water
that I shall give unto you and you will never thirst. You'll
never have to go anywhere else to have your soul comforted,
to have hope in your salvation, to have your sin put away than
the river of life that flows from the throne of God. Are you
thirsty? Thirsty. Because God made you
to be thirsty. The Lord Jesus Christ said in
John chapter 7, the scripture says, on that last day, the great
day of the feast, this was the feast of tabernacles, and the
tabernacle of God was with men, and they didn't know it. And
he's with us today. He said, where two or three are
gathered together, there I am in the midst of them. He said,
if I be lifted up, and that's all we're trying to do right
now is lift up the Lord Jesus Christ. If I be lifted up, I
will draw all men to myself. And on that great day of the
feast, Jesus Christ stood and cried, if any man thirst, let
him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, as the
scripture says, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Who is it that comes? Those who
cannot have the thirst of their soul satisfied by the things
of this world. That's who comes. As long as
you're satisfied with what this world has to offer, as long as
you're satisfied with what man-made free will religion has to offer,
you'll never thirst after the Lord Jesus Christ. Who is it
that comes? They that hear the gospel and
they who are thirsty. Look what else he says about
who is it that comes. And let him that is a thirst
come and whosoever will. Now the free willer will stop
right there and say, well, see there, God needs me to exercise
my will. Read on. Whosoever will take
of the water freely. Has God made you willing to be
saved freely? Most men aren't. They make their
will their contribution to salvation. They make a work out of coming.
Oh, they'll even have invitations and have people walk aisles and
pray prayers. And I had somebody tell me this
past week. I thought two ways. I thought, after I heard this
story, I thought, boy, preachers ought to be liable to the law
just like lawyers and doctors are for malpractice. And then
I thought, no, I'd probably get sued a lot. But a preacher told a dear man
that I was talking to this week that he was saved. He said, you can be sure you're
saved. He's got no right to tell you
that. And there's no evidence that this young man is. but a
preacher trying to get him to nail it down. They just make
a work out of it. The Spirit of God's the only
one that can speak that peace and comfort to your heart. I
can't tell you that. Whosoever will take the water
of life freely. Are you willing to be saved freely? Are you willing to come without
money and without price? Are you willing to come with
nothing but your sin? If you are, God's made you that way. He makes
His people willing in the day of His power. Whosoever hears the gospel, whosoever
thirsts after righteousness, thirsting after Christ, whosoever
is willing to take the water of life freely. You see, this
makes you completely dependent upon Him, doesn't it? makes you
completely dependent upon the one to whom you come, Jesus,
the I am, the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning
star. Why do we come? Why do we come? First reason we come is because
we are commanded to come, commanded to come. When King David sent for Mephibosheth,
he didn't tell his servant to go ask Mephibosheth if he wanted
to come. He said, you go fetch him, get
him, bring him to me. This matter of coming to Christ
is not you responding to an invitation. It's the King of Kings and Lord
of Lords. It's the voice of God giving
you a command that you cannot resist. when the Lord Jesus Christ looked
up in the tree there in Jericho and said to Zacchaeus, Zacchaeus,
come down, for I must go to your house today. Does Zacchaeus have
a choice? Was that, did Zacchaeus, did
the Lord say, hey, Zacchaeus, come down, and you know, you
think it'd be okay if I come to your house today? No. The reason I come is because
I'm commanded to come. King Ahasuerus commanded his
wife Vashti to come into the presence of the king and she
refused. You remember the rest of that
story? She was dethroned and Esther became the queen. Why? because she would not hearken
to the voice of the king. Why do I come? Because I'm commanded
to come. Why do I come? Because I need
to come. I need to come. I need a sin
bearer. I need a substitute. I need one
who's able to satisfy the demands of God's righteousness. I need
one to pay for my sins. I need one in whom I can find
acceptance before God. My sin has made me needy. I'm like that woman with the
issue of blood. I've spent all that I have on
physicians only to be worse off now than I was before. Religion
can't help me. The world can't help me. Coming
to Christ is the only hope that I have. So I come because I'm
commanded. I come because I need to come. I come because I'm like that
publican praying in the temple. Not so much as even looking up,
but smiting himself upon the breast and saying, Lord, have
mercy upon me. I'm the sinner. I'm the sinner. The Pharisee didn't need to come,
he was just pretending. And that's all religion is, that's
not based on the truth. It's just men pretending that
they're coming to God. Plain religion. But really what
they're doing is they're saying, Father, I thank Thee that I'm
not like other men. And they're comparing themselves
to themselves, and they're comparing themselves to one another, and
they've concluded that they don't really have a need. We have a need that money can't
solve and time won't correct. Any problem that you have in
your life that money can solve and time will fix is not really
a problem. Not really a problem. Not compared
to the one problem that you have and that I have that money nor
time can solve. There's only one that can fix
it. It's the only problem that those two things won't solve.
Eventually, time's going to solve every one of your problems. Time's going to run out, and
all your problems are going to be over. Why do I come? Because He's commanded
me, and I've heard the voice of the King. I come because I
need to come. And I come because I'm afraid
not to come. I'm afraid not to come. Now I know that we live in a
culture that doesn't want to hear about hell. They don't want to hear fire
and brimstone preaching. I would say to you just read
the scriptures and see how much God says about it. See how much
God says about it. He calls it a lake of fire. He
calls it the second death. Don't be concerned about the
first death. Everybody's worried about the first death. Your first
death is going to be relatively quick and painless. It is. You may suffer for years in the
flesh, but compared to the second death, your first death is going
to be quick and painless. The second death is the one you
have to be worried about. And I'm afraid if I don't have
an advocate before God, if I don't have a sin bearer, If I don't
have one who's able to present himself as my righteousness before
God, if God charges me with one single infraction against his
law, I will be cast into the lake of fire. I am afraid not
to come to Christ. I am afraid of the thought of
having to stand in the presence of God without a substitute. That's why we come. And finally we come, because
there's no other option. There's no other option. Coming
to Christ, contrary to what you hear in religion, is not a decision. It is not a decision. The only
time you'll come to Christ is if the Spirit of God shuts you
up to where you've got no place else to go. Churches have invitations where
they invite people to come forward. Read about the invitations that
God gives. His invitations are, leave if
you can. It's what he told the disciples. When the 5,000 walked away, the
Lord Jesus Christ looked to the 12 and he said, aren't you going
to go with them? How come you're not leaving with them? What did
Peter say? He said, Lord, we've got no place
to go. Thou alone hast the words of
eternal life, and we know and are sure that Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the living God. We're not here because we chose
you. We're here because you chose
us, and you shut us up to yourself, and we've got no place else to
go. That's why we come. If you have a choice, you will
choose against Christ. I promise you will. If you can
leave, you will leave. And if you can go somewhere else
to find hope for your soul, you will go there. The only way you'll
come to Christ is if he makes you come. He drags you to himself. No man can come to the Father
except he be drawn. And James, when he speaks of
believers being drug into court, uses the same word. The Lord has to drag us to the judge of all judges and
show us who Christ is and what he's done. How do I come? How do I come? Freely. Freely. Don't come with your will. Don't
come with your commitment. Don't come with your faith. Don't
come with your good intentions. Take of the water of life freely,
without money. and without price. Come as a mercy beggar. You've got nothing to bring but
your sin. That's it. The only thing you've got to
bring is what you need him to take away. How do you come? You come freely. justified freely
by his grace. Is the gospel of God's free grace
in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ free enough for
you? Is it free enough? And finally, what is the result
of coming? What is the result of coming? The Lord said, he that cometh
unto me, I will in no wise cast out. No wise will I cast him
out. Oh, the result of coming is grace. Look at verse 21. The grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. and always. The result of coming
is eternal life. The salvation of our souls. That's
what the result of coming is. And that is what you and I need
more than anything else. So I don't know how to come. The disciples were on the Sea
of Galilee in a storm. And the Lord appeared walking
on the water. And Peter saw the Lord. You remember
what Peter said? Peter said, Lord, bid me to come
unto thee. Had someone tell me this week,
well, I don't know how to pray. God's given us prayers in his
word, and there's one right there. There's one right there. Lord,
bid me to come unto thee. Can you pray that prayer? Peter
got out of the boat, didn't he? Walked on the water. How do you come? Just as you are, without one
plea. But that his blood was shed for
thee." Tom's going to come lead us in
that hymn. Would you stand to the number,
Tom? 249 in the hardback temple. Let's
stand together. you Just as I am without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me, And that Thou bidst me come
to Thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am and waiting
not to rid my soul of one dark blot, to Thee whose blood can
cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am, though tossed about,
With many a conflict, many a doubt, Fightings and fears within, Without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am, poor, wretched,
blind, Sight rich is healing of the mind, Yea, all I need
in thee to find, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve. Christ is thy promise,
I believe, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
