In the sermon titled "Christ's Constant Presence," Clay Curtis emphasizes the theological doctrine of God's omnipresence, particularly how it provides comfort to believers. He outlines that God's presence is inescapable, as illustrated in Psalm 139:7-12, where the psalmist acknowledges that there is no place one can flee from God's spirit. Key Scripture references discussed include Exodus 33:15, which highlights the necessity of God's presence for His people to be considered distinct, and 1 Corinthians 15:53, emphasizing Christ’s victory over death. Curtis underscores the significance of Christ’s ongoing presence for believers, providing assurance in times of trouble and darkness, demonstrating that God’s presence sanctifies, guides, and sustains His people both in life and in death.

Key Quotes

“Our Savior has conquered death for us. He conquered death for us.”

“There's no hiding from God. We're gonna all have to deal with God one day, either now in grace, by his mercy, in his saving power, or we're going to meet him in the day of judgment.”

“He said, I'm with you always, even to the end of the earth.”

What does the Bible say about God's omnipresence?

The Bible states that God is omnipresent, meaning He is always present everywhere at once, as seen in Psalm 139:7-12.

God's omnipresence refers to His ability to be present everywhere at the same time. Psalm 139 eloquently expresses this, asking, 'Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?' This demonstrates that regardless of where we may go—whether in heaven, hell, or any corner of the earth—God is there. His omnipresence provides comfort to believers, assuring them that they are never alone and that His hand leads and supports them even in the darkest moments of life.

Psalm 139:7-12, Exodus 33:15

Why is God's omnipresence important for Christians?

God's omnipresence assures Christians of His constant support and guidance throughout their lives.

The doctrine of God's omnipresence is vital for Christians as it reinforces the belief that God is actively involved in their lives at all times. Understanding that God is present everywhere helps believers find solace in trials and assurance in His guidance. The psalmist reflects this truth, noting that even in places that seem far removed from God's care, His right hand leads and holds His people. This truth counteracts fear and provides the assurance of God's unwavering support, reminding believers that they are never outside of His protective presence.

Psalm 139:8-10, Isaiah 43:1-3

How do we know that God is always with us?

The Bible assures us that God is always with us through His omnipresence and promises made to His people.

The certainty of God's constant presence is rooted in His attributes and promises. Throughout Scripture, particularly in Psalm 139, it is communicated that there is no place a person can go that is beyond the reach of God's presence. Moreover, God’s promise in Hebrews 13:5 reinforces this truth, where He declares, 'I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.' This assurance is not just a comforting sentiment but a profound truth rooted in the character and faithfulness of God, who cannot lie and remains unchanging across all circumstances in the lives of His people.

O Lord, thou hast searched me
and known me. Thou knowest my down-sitting
and my up-rising. Thou understandest my thought
afar off. Thou compassest my path and my
lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is
not a word in my tongue, but lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast set me behind and before,
and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful
for me. It is high, I cannot attain unto
it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit?
Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up
into heaven, thou art there. If I make my bed in hell, behold,
thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning,
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall
thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say
surely the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be light
about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not
from thee, but the night shineth as the day. The darkness and
the light are both alike to thee. For thou hast possessed my reins,
thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee, for
I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are thy works,
and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid
from thee, when I was made in secret and curiously wrought
in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance
yet being unperfect, and in thy book all my members were written,
which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of
them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How
great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they
are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I'm still with
thee. Surely, thou wilt slay the wicked, O God. Depart from
me, therefore, you bloody men. For they speak against thee wickedly,
and thine enemies take thy name in vain. Do not I hate them,
O Lord, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those
that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred.
I count them mine enemies. Search me, O God, and know my
heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. and see if there be any wicked
way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. Our great God and our Father,
how thankful we are for your word. How thankful we are that
you've given us an understanding that we might know you, that
we might know your son. We thank you for faith to trust
him Lord, we ask you to send forth your spirit now, quicken
us and renew us, make us to hear like it's the first time, make
us to be comforted by your presence, by your promises here in this
scripture. We pray this, Lord, for your
people everywhere, that Christ might be exalted in the hearts
of your people. that your gospel go forth in
power, in spirit, and that you would be the salvation of your
people wherever they are, both right now, today, tomorrow, until
you bring us safely home to glory. May Christ receive all the glory.
Forgive us, Lord, of our unbelief, our fearing things below. We
thank you, Lord, that you have pity on us and are merciful to
us for Christ's sake. It's in his name we ask you.
Amen. All right, brethren. Last time we looked here in the
first six verses and we saw that the Lord knows all about us. We looked at his omniscience,
his all-knowing. Now that should strike fear and
unbelievers, because the Lord knows, He knows our sin more
than we know it. He knows more about us than we
know about our own selves. But for God's people, that's
comfort. He knows what we need, and He knows how to provide what
we need. This time we're going to look at how God is always
with His saints. The psalmist, now as we read
this, he's not saying he desires to flee from the Lord. He's just
showing us that no matter where he goes, where he is, no matter
where we are, the Lord is present with us. So this is a great comfort
to God's people too. Let's read verse seven through
12 again. Psalm 139, seven. Whither shall I go from thy spirit,
or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up
into heaven, thou art there. If I make my bed in hell, behold,
thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning,
dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea. Even there shall
thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say,
surely the darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be light
about me. Yea, the darkness hath not from
thee, but the night shineth as the day. The darkness and the
light are both alike to thee." We're looking at an attribute
of our God, Him being present always, and I find it difficult
to preach on the attributes of God because they're incomprehensible
to us. Canst thou by searching find
out God? Canst thou find out the Almighty
unto perfection? Absolutely not. But God has given
us scriptures to teach us some things about Him. And we want
to know what He's given to us. He's given these things so we
can know something about the Lord. And we want to know about
Him. We want to be able to serve Him and worship Him. We want
to glorify Him and all that we do. So we do seek to know Him
the best we can. So our subject here is Christ's
constant presence. And God is always present with
all men. He's everywhere. He's always
present with all men. Scripture says, for in Him we
live and move and have our being. But our Savior is savingly present
with His people. He's with His people, as the
psalmist says here, to lead us and to hold us with His right
hand. Now theologians call this omnipresence. God is spirit,
so He's everywhere at once. That's what it means. He was
before space and place and time, so He's not limited by space
and place and time. It says in verse 7, Whither shall
I go from thy spirit, and whither shall I flee from thy presence? Now, look with me over at Exodus
33. Now again, He's not saying He's
trying to flee from the Lord. He's just stating that there's
nowhere that our Lord's not. Look here in Exodus 33, the Lord's
saints want the Lord to be present with us. It's something we want
above everything else because it's how we were sanctified and
kept separated from this world. It's by his presence. Exodus
33, 15, Moses said to the Lord, if thy
presence Go not with me, carry us not up hence, for wherein
shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in
thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest
with us? So shall we be separated, I and
thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the
earth." See that? It's His presence within us that
sanctified us, that is the life and the righteousness and so
that we're separated by his presence. And the Lord said to Moses, I
will do this thing also that thou has spoken for thou has
found grace in my sight and I know thee by name. The Psalmist is
declaring God's presence is everywhere at once. And we're gonna just
use the places that he gives here for our divisions. And that'll
make up our divisions tonight. First of all, He says in heaven. Verse eight, Psalm 139, eight,
he says, if I send up into heaven, thou art there. Now, God's presence
is manifest in different ways. And what I mean by that is in
heaven, angels and the saints that are already with him, they
behold him in all his majesty. He's present with them face to
face. They see everything about our Lord. And right now, you
and me that are in this earth, we see by faith. But one day,
one day, we're gonna see the Lord face to face. This one that
we've been hearing about, and singing about, and praying to,
and believing on, we're gonna behold Him face to face one day. He said this, our Lord said,
blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. For now we see through a glass
darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then
shall I know even as also I am known. John said, Reverend, now
are we the sons of God. And it does not yet appear what
we shall be. But we know that when he shall
appear, we shall be like him. For we shall see him as he is. Christ is the heaven. He's heaven
of heaven. That's all His saints want. We want Him. We want to be with
Him. We want to see Him. We want to
know Him like He knows us. And one day we shall. Now secondly,
in Psalm 139, He speaks of the grave or hell. It could mean
either one. We'll look at both. He said,
verse 8, if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
Now sometimes the grave is referred to as hell in the scripture when
it's speaking about the grave. So let's consider this as death,
as the grave. Now, by the grace of God, he's
chosen people, Christ redeemed us, regenerated us, and for each
one of us that God's given a new spirit and given faith to believe,
our Savior has conquered death for us. He conquered death for
us. The sting of death is sin. That
means that which causes death is sin. And the Lord Jesus Christ
came into this world to die in place of God's elect. And that's
what He did. And when He laid down His life
for us, He thoroughly put away all the sin of all His people
by Himself. He purged our sin. The strength of sin is the law.
The law is what makes us know our sin and what magnifies to
us how great our sin is. Well, Christ perfectly fulfilled
the law. By his obedience unto the death
of the cross, he represented all his people and he made his
people the righteousness of God in him. Now you think of that.
The righteousness of God. How righteous is God? You can't
get more righteous. and he's made his people the
righteousness of God in him. So he has put away our sin, he
has fulfilled the law for us, and by that he conquered death
for us. He manifests that he conquered
death because when they came to that tomb, that tomb was empty. Our Lord arose from the grave
and he sat down at God's right hand and all his people sat down
in him. When the scripture declares to
us that there's no condemnation, for us who are born of God. That
means God in his law will never again condemn us for our sin. Never, never condemn us. We do sin and God will correct
us, but it won't be in fury because he poured out the fury of his
fierce justice upon our substitute. But he will not condemn us because
Christ has made us righteous before the law. Now, our Savior,
has so thoroughly conquered death for us that when you die and
our bodies go back to the dust, our bodies are going to just
become dust, but he's going to be with our body so that he's
going to raise us incorruptible like his glorious body. Go with
me to 1 Corinthians 15. 1 Corinthians 15 and verse 53 says,
For this corruptible must put on incorruption. Our bodies are
corruptible right now. They're going to go back to the
dust, but one day, by Christ, they're going to put on incorruption.
and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall
have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on
immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written,
death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting?
O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin, and
the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth
us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved
brethren, be you steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work
of the Lord, for as much as you know, your labor is not in vain
in the Lord. Now, since this verse, the verse
before this spoke of heaven, and then now this verse speaks
of hell, Let's look at hell. Not only the grave, but then
hell. And this is something that we need to remember because death
is not the end. There's people that believe that
with death, it's just annihilation. That's it. It's over. Death's
not the end. We all have an immortal soul
that's going to live somewhere. We're either going to be with
Christ in heaven or we're going to be in hell. We're going to
spend eternity somewhere. Now, in heaven, It is the presence
of the Lord that makes heaven heaven. If he wasn't there, it
wouldn't be heaven. It's heaven because he's there.
He's what makes it heaven. But Christ is preeminent in everything.
You know what, the justice of God that's gonna make hell hell
is Christ and knowing Christ. That's what's gonna make hell
hell. In hell, men and women will know God, they will know
Christ, the same as those in heaven know him. In the day of
judgment, he's going to be revealed to everybody, and everybody's
going to know him in truth. Every knee's going to bow, and
every tongue's going to confess that he's Lord of lords, King
of kings, to the praise and glory of God. Everybody's going to
know him. And so, anybody that's cast out of his
presence, that did not trust Christ, They're going to be made
to know that everything God bore witness to in creation, that
bore witness of Him, and everything that was declared in His gospel
is absolutely true. And then they'll be cast out. And the hell of hell will be
knowing the truth of God, and knowing that you could have believed
on Christ and could have trusted Him to say, and it would have
been yours. He would have been yours. It's
going to be knowing Him in truth in that day. And that will be
the torment of hell. Go with me to Luke 16. He's there. Christ is present
in hell. I mean, He's known in hell. That's
what the Scripture is saying. Luke 16, 22. This is what our
Lord spoke about the rich man and the beggar Lazarus. Let's
just pick up in verse 22. It came to pass that the beggar
died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. The rich
man also died. That's important to get. All
are gonna die. And then after that, the judgment.
The rich man also died and was buried. And in hell, he lift
up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off and
Lazarus in his bosom. He could see in heaven. He could
see what was there. And he cried and he said, Father
Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip
the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue for I'm tormented
in this flame. But Abraham said, son, remember
that thou in thy lifetime receivest thy good things and likewise
Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted and thou
art tormented. And besides all this, between
us and you, there is a great gulf fixed. so that they which
would pass from hence to you cannot, neither can they pass
to us that would come from thence. And then he said, I pray thee
therefore, father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's
house, for I have five brethren, that he may testify unto them,
lest they also come into this place of torment. And Abraham
saith unto him, now listen to this, they have Moses and the
prophets, let them hear them. And he said, no, Father Abraham,
but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And
he said unto him, if they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither
will they be persuaded the one rose from the dead. Here's what
we get from that. God has given us these scriptures,
and these scriptures are true. You take every opportunity God
gives to come hear this gospel preached. We'll be held accountable,
not only for what we did here, but for what we could have heard.
Come hear this gospel, and then go search these scriptures, see
if these things are true. This is the day of grace. Now's
the time to seek the Lord while he may be found. Give yourself
to know the Lord, to trust the Lord. You'll only do it by his
grace, but give yourself to know him. Moses represents the law,
and the law tells us we're guilty sinners. We cannot make ourselves
righteous or holy. The prophets declared Christ
is salvation. This whole book is declaring
we are the center, Christ is the savior. We have fallen and
captive. Christ alone is the redeemer
who sets his people free. He's the only way, the truth,
and the life. There's no coming to God but
by him. So you seek him now while he may be found and believe on
him and trust him. All right, back in Psalm 139. in the sea. He says, verse 9,
and if I take the wings of the morning, that's, the wings of
the morning is talking about the light. You know, the son
of righteousness shall arise with healing in his wings. It's
the rays of the sun. And it's saying here that Christ
is faster than the speed of light. He's, wherever light shines,
before light shines, He's already there. He is the light. He makes the light. If I take
the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts
of the sea, even there shall thy hand lead me and thy right
hand shall hold me. Wherever we go, Christ is there. Wherever we go, He's there. Even
in the uttermost parts of the sea. And this is why this, in
all of this, here's what He's saying. Even there, wherever,
whether we're talking about or whether we're talking about ascending
to heaven or being in the grave or being in the uttermost parts
of the sea, even there shall thy hand lead me and thy right
hand shall hold me. That's what he'll do for his
people. When the Lord Jesus walked this earth as a man, he was in
the earth. Bodily, he was in the earth.
But as God, he was in heaven. We're talking about him being
omnipresent. He was in the earth bodily, but he was in heaven.
With the Father, listen to this, no man had seen God at any time.
This is what Christ said. He was telling Nicodemus, no
man has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, which
is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared it. While he
was on this earth, he was in the bosom of the Father. He said,
no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven,
even the Son of man which is in heaven. And now, the reason
I point that out to you is now, he's bodily in heaven. But in
spirit, he's still with us. He's still here with us. He's
leading us by his hand, and he's holding us, protecting us with
his right hand. He said, wherever he has gathered
two or three in his name, he gathers them. Where he's gathered
two or three in his name, he said, there I am. There I am,
present. Though he's in heaven, he's walking
in the midst of the candlesticks. You go to Revelation and read
his word to the seven churches, he was there, he knew all about
them, he was present amongst them, and so he is wherever he's
assembled his church. He promises this, he promised
his disciples this as we go forth preaching the word, and this
is his promise to every believer as we set forth the word. This
is what we're here for. We're not here to build our state.
We're not here to see how big a bank account and how high up
the world's ladder we can climb. That's not what we're here for.
God's people are here for one reason, to preach the gospel
of Christ. We're on a mission, and he's
gonna call out his sheep, and when the last one's called out,
he's folding it all up. But he said this, when he told
them that, he said, I am with you always, even to the end of
the earth. Amen, to the end of the world,
I'm with you. He's been with His saints in all His churches,
in all ages, upon this treacherous sea of life, and He will be with
His people until He brings us into the harbor of heaven. He's
with His people. We're separated by miles. God's
saints are separated by miles, but we're not separated from
Him. He's with His people at all times. And just like those
saints right now in heaven, they see Him face to face. Well, we
behold Him by faith right now. but we see his providential care
of us in the things that he does in this world. We see, he manifests
his presence to us in our hearts and in things he works for us
in providence. He was with us when we didn't know him. God
chose his people and gave them to Christ, and Christ has known
us from eternity. We're gonna see more of that
in the next passage in this psalm when we come to it, but he'd
known us before we even had a bodily form. He knew us, and even when
we were born and we were lost and we were in darkness, He was
with us, protecting us. There's a reason you didn't die
before the Lord called you. You couldn't, because the Father
chose His people in Christ, and Christ laid down His life for
us, and we had to be born of the water of the Word and of
the Holy Spirit, because Christ promised He'd bring us to the
Father. So He protected you. even when you didn't know him.
He was with you even when you didn't know he was with you.
And he was with us to bring us under the gospel by his presence.
Do you think that you just accidentally came out of the sound of the
gospel? Nothing is an accident. Nothing is just luck and chance. The Lord brought his people under
this gospel. He did that. He's with us when
he regenerates his people and takes up his dwelling in us.
He said, I dwell in you. and you dwell in me. He's made
us one with him. That's how present he is with
us. That's what Moses was talking about when he said, how shall
we be sanctified from this world, separated from this world? Is
it not in thy presence going with us? He made us holy and
sanctified us by his presence. And he keeps renewing us. He
keeps renewing us. He'll speak a word in season.
And you just have your heart just filled with his grace and
comfort at his presence, and you know he's present. He protects
us on all sides by his presence. There's no untimely deaths, but
time is appointed, and until then, the Lord's gonna protect
us, because he's with his people, and he won't let one thing happen
to us. He said, if I go to heaven, if I go to the grave, if I go
to the utmost parts of the sea, even there shall thy hand lead
me and thy right hand shall hold me. Let's look at Isaiah 43. We all know this well, but I
just love it. Isaiah 43, look at verse one. Now thus saith the Lord that
created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear
not. You want to do an interesting
study sometime, you go through the scripture and see how many
times God tells us not to fear. Fear not. Obviously, that's a
serious problem we have, fearing things. And it's unbelief is
what it is. But he's constantly telling us,
fear not. And here's why. Look, fear not,
for I have redeemed thee. I've redeemed you. I've called
thee by thy name, thou art mine. When thou passest through the
waters, I will be with thee. And through the rivers, they
shall not overflow thee. When thou walkest through the
fire, thou shalt not be burned. Neither shall the flame kindle
upon thee. For I am the Lord thy God, the
Holy One of Israel, thy Savior. I gave Egypt for thy ransom,
Ethiopia, and Seba for thee. We rightfully belong to the Lord
Jesus. This is the comfort. We belong to Christ. We belong
to Him according to God's purpose. We belong to Him by Christ's
purchase. He bought us. He said, I redeemed
you, you're mine. And we belong to Him by His sovereign
power. He came and irresistibly called
us to Himself, and He's gonna keep us called unto Him. He calls
us His beloved. Can you believe that? Sinners
like us, wretches like us, who had nothing in us to merit any
favor from God, and now that he's done everything to make
us righteous and holy and accept of God, he says, you're my beloved. The peculiar objects of his great
love. That's what election is. Election
is God's electing love. Christ laying down His life at
Calvary was His redeeming love. His calling us was His regenerating
love. His preserving us is His preserving
love. He's going to call us out of
the grave one day, call us to Himself, glorifying love, resurrecting
love. And that love is unchangeable,
immutable as God, never changes. Saving love, and he shall not
lose one. Not one. He's present with us. He has delivered us from so great
a death, Paul said, and he doth deliver, and we believe he shall
yet deliver. He said, I am with you. You're
gonna pass through the water. You're gonna pass through fire.
You're gonna go through trouble. But he said, I'm with you. I'm
with you. Now let's look at this last thing
in darkness. Verse 11, if I say, surely the
darkness shall cover me, even the night shall be light about
me. Yea, the darkness hath not from thee, but the night shineth
as the day. The darkness and the light are
both alike to thee. Go with me to Amos 9. Amos 9. Now this needs to be a warning
to anybody that does not believe. Anybody under the sound of my
voice that doesn't believe, that has this vain notion they can
hide from God. Listen to this now, Amos 9 verse
2. He said, Though they dig into
hell, thence shall mine hand take them. Though they climb
up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. And though they hide
themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out
thence. And though they be hid from my
sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent,
and he shall bite them. And though they go into captivity
before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and
it shall slay them. And I will set mine eyes upon
them for evil and not for good. There's no hiding from God. We're
gonna all have to deal with God one day, either now in grace,
by his mercy, in his saving power, or we're going to meet him in
the day of judgment. But there's no hiding from God. But I want
to speak comfort to you that know him. We have our dark seasons. God's saints have our dark seasons.
And in those dark days, you feel like you're alone. You feel alone,
but we're never alone. Christ is always with his people. He is always present. He's the
light. He knows all because He's the
light and He's present with His saints at all times. He's the
light that makes the night day. Day and night are the same with
Him because He's the light. Now in the dark season, you feel
alone. Brother Adam, we were talking
about this not long ago. In a dark season, you feel alone.
Sometimes you feel cold. Sometimes You don't feel anything. God's saints will be honest and
say, we've experienced that, because you do. A few years ago,
there was one particular passage, just a few words that was such
a great comfort to me in a very dark season. Go with me to John
16. This was when our Lord was going
to the cross that night before, and He was speaking to His disciples.
They were so troubled. Listen to what He said here,
John 16, 32. He said, Behold, the hour cometh,
yea, is now come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his
own, and shall leave me alone. And yet I am not alone, because
the Father is with me. That word right there where he
said, you're going to leave me alone. Yet I'm not alone because
the Father's with me. That came into my heart. When
he said he makes darkness light, he made my darkness light with
that word right there. And I'll show you why. Go with
me to Isaiah 50. Isaiah 50. When you're suffering some trouble
and you're in darkness and you feel alone, Maybe brethren have
left you alone, maybe you are literally physically alone. Understand
what our Lord's teaching right here. Now listen, Isaiah 50 verse
6. He said, I gave my back to the
smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off there. I hid
not my face from shame and spitting. What made him do that? What made
him so willing to go into all that for his people? He said,
for the Lord God will help me. Therefore shall I not be confounded,
therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that
I shall not be ashamed. He is near that justifieth me. Who will contend with me? Let
us stand together. Who is my adversary? Let him
come near to me. Behold, the Lord God will help
me. Who is he that shall condemn
me? Lo, they all shall wax old as a garment. The moth shall
eat them up. Now here's what he's teaching.
Here's why he said all of that. He showed us what he did. His
perfect faith in going to the cross. He knew the Father was
with him. He knew the Father was with him
and he was not alone. And the Father would justify
him. Now here's what he says to you and me. Verse 10, you
that believe him, obey his voice and believe him. He says this,
who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice
of his servant, that walketh in darkness and hath no light? You ever have the question, what
do I do when I'm in that state? Our Lord is telling us, here's
what he said, let him trust in the name of the Lord and stay
upon his God. Trust in the name of the Lord.
I don't feel like I believe. It ain't about our feelings,
brethren. It's about this right here. We got his word. We got his word. And he's at
God's right hand, and he said, and I'm with you always. He said,
you trust in the name of the Lord and stay upon your God. Now listen, everybody that hears
this, here's what I want you to get. Go with me to Isaiah
55. For you that do not believe on
Christ, here's what I want you to get from this. There's no
hiding from Him. He knows you, He knows everything
about you, and He's present. Right now you live and move and
have your being only because of Him. Everything you have,
food, clothing, shelter, everything, He gave it. But here's what I'm trying to
tell you. Isaiah 55, 6. Seek ye the Lord while he may
be found. Call ye upon him while he is
near. Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts, and let him return unto the Lord,
and he will have mercy upon him. And to our God, for he will abundantly
pardon. If you can come to the Lord,
it's going to be by his grace. And he does not call somebody
to seek him and believe on him. only to disappoint him. When
he calls you to trust him, he has mercy on you and he'll receive
you and he'll abundantly pardon you. He already has if he gives
you a heart to call on him, he's already sought you. Now here's
for you that do believe him. Go with me to Hebrews 13. Hebrews
13. Hebrews 13 five. Let your conversation, that means
your whole conduct, everything you do, let your conversation
be without covetousness. Don't fret about what you don't
have. And don't go after what you don't
have. If you need it, he'll give it.
Let your conversation be without covetousness and be content with
such things as you have. For he has said, I will never
leave thee nor forsake thee, so that we may boldly say, the
Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto
me. All right, brethren, we're going
to be dismissed in prayer. Our God and our Father, Lord,
what a merciful, gracious, all-knowing, ever-present God you are. Thank
you for this word. Lord, make it effectual in our
heart. We pray for your lost sheep that
you would be pleased to call them and give them faith to know
you're present, that you are the salvation of your people.
And Lord, we pray that for us who do believe you by your grace,
that you would continue showing us mercy and favor and make us
believe you. Help us not to be fearful. So
many things we get fearful of here below. We have no reason
to be, but we are. Lord, make us to see you and
know you and know you're present. Make us believe your word, even
when we don't feel it. And stay upon you. We thank you. Thank you for your son. Thank
you for your free salvation. In Christ's name. Amen. All right,
brethren.
