Alright brethren, let's turn
our Bibles to Proverbs chapter 3. The title of the message tonight
is the wisest counsel ever given. Now that's a lofty statement. The wisest counsel ever given. So this better be some wise counsel. It is. And I want everybody tonight
to listen very, very carefully because this is indeed the wisest
counsel ever given. Proverbs 3 verse 5, Trust in
the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. in all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes,
fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy
navel and marrow to thy bones. Now this counsel is for everyone
that's here tonight, who you are or where you are. This is
for everybody. It's for those who have not believed
on the Lord, who have not cast their care on Christ. And it's
for those who have. This is the wisest counsel ever
given. And the wisest thing we can do
is to obey. The Lord declares here or commands
here for us to trust in the Lord with all your heart. Trust in
the Lord with all your heart and He says, He shall direct
your paths. First of all, trusting in the
Lord is to do so with all our heart. He says there in verse
5, trust in the Lord with all thine heart. Now if you trust
in somebody, there has to be a reason why you trust that person. And the Lord is worthy of our
trust. He's worthy of us to put all
trust in Him. One, He's our Creator. and he's
the sustainer of our life. So, he's worthy of and deserving
of all our trust. Just because of that fact, he
is our creator and he sustains our life. Even those that don't
believe on him, he's the sustainer of our life. Paul said in Acts
17, 28, in him we live and move and have our being. The man who
goes through this life and never gives God the glory that God
deserves by casting all his care into the hands of the Lord Jesus
Christ, that man that goes through life never seeking the Lord,
never trusting the Lord, never glorifying the Lord, is as bad
as a brute beast out in the field that doesn't know God or know
anything. This is the one who created us. This is the one who gave us life
and who sustains us in life. So the end of man, just for the
fact that God's our creator, the end of man is to glorify
God, to bow to Him and trust Him and obey His words. And two,
He's worthy of our trust because He is truth and He cannot lie. Do you know anybody? Is there anybody you can think
of that you know that does not lie? Anybody you've ever come
into contact with that does not lie? God is the only one. He is truth. He cannot lie. He's holy. He cannot lie. And
He will not lie. In Numbers 23, 19, Balaam declared
this, God is not a man that He should lie. What reason does
God have for lying? He has no reason to lie. God's
not a man that He should lie, neither the Son of Man that He
should repent. In other words, He's not going
to make a promise and then repent from it or take it back. He doesn't
have to do that. Hath he said and shall he not
do it? Nothing is going to stop him.
Or hath he spoken and shall he not make good on it? In Titus
1, 2 it says, those that trust in him, we have hope of eternal
life which God that cannot lie promised before the world began. When God chose His people in
Christ, Scripture says in Ephesians 1 that He blessed us with all
spiritual blessings. Right then, when He chose us
in Christ. Every blessing that God will
give to His people in time, He gave to His people in eternity
when He chose us in Christ. Doesn't that show you how that
God cannot lie? What He's promised, what He's
blessed His people with, He will give it to them. That's how come
it was done in eternity. We were blessed with all spiritual
blessings in eternity because there's no remote possibility
that God will not make good on all that He promised and all
that He blessed us with in eternity. 2 Samuel 22 31 says, As for God,
His way is perfect. The word of the Lord is tried. That means it's been put to the
test. He is a buckler. A buckler is
a shield that covers the whole body. He's a buckler to all them
that trust in Him. Talking about trusting in the
Lord. He's a buckler to all that trust in Him. Listen to this. All those that put their trust
in Thee, rejoice. Let them ever shout for joy because
Thou defendest them. That's what He's promised to
do. He's promised to defend everybody that puts their trust in Him.
And because they do put their trust in Him, He defends them.
He's not going to make us ashamed for believing the word that He's
spoken to us. Psalm 9 10 says, They that know
thy name will put their trust in thee. When you know His name,
you know He's God that cannot lie. You know He's God that will
not repent. You know He's God that has spoken
it and will do it. And so when you know His name,
you're going to put your trust in Him. For thou, Lord, hast
not forsaken them that seek thee. He defends those that put their
trust in Him because He promised to do it. And He will not forsake
those that put their trust in Him because He promised He wouldn't
forsake us. The Lord redeemeth the soul of
His servants, and none of them that trust in Him shall be desolate."
We'll never be left alone. That word desolate means we'll
never be left alone. It means we'll never be barren,
unfruitful. Because God promised He wouldn't
leave us desolate. He promised He'd make us fruitful.
And so those that trust in Him, He's going to make good on His
word. And three, here's another reason to trust Him. He's absolutely
sovereign to bring to pass all His purpose and all His promises. His promises, He's sovereign
to bring them to pass to glorify His own holy name. So when God
makes a promise, His own holy character, His own glory is behind
that promise. And He's sovereign to bring that
promise to pass. He's sovereign to bring it to
pass for the glory of His Son. And He's sovereign to bring it
past for the salvation of His people. This is His glory, His
name, and all that He's promised to do for His people. He will,
He can, He's able, and he will bring to pass everything he's
promised because he's sovereign, he's able, he has omnipotent
power to bring to pass what he's promised. He promised Christ. Remember Paul said he was speaking
to Abraham and to Christ. This was the promise that the
father made to his son and this was the promise the father made
to Abraham in his son. In Genesis 12 verse 3 he said,
I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth
thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. He could
say that to Abraham because Christ was coming through Abraham. And
so he was saying, in Christ who is going to be born of your lineage,
all my elect scattered throughout the earth, all the different
families in the earth are going to be blessed. He promised that. Christ came forth and He brought
it to pass. He said in Genesis 49.10, He
promised the scepter shall not depart from Judah nor a lawgiver
from between his feet until Shiloh come and unto him shall the gathering
of the people be. When Christ was born, He's the
Lion of the tribe of Judah. When He was born, He brought
that promise to pass. and He's been gathering the people
to Him ever since. He made the promise, He brought
it to pass. Daniel 9.24, Seventy weeks are
determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city. You remember
in Acts when He sent wicked hands, took Christ and did what God
determined before to be done. what God had determined before
to be done. Here's what He determined. God
promised 70 weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy
holy city to finish the transgression. To finish it. To put an end to
the transgression. To make an end of sins. So that God when He looks on
His people, He sees no sins ever. They're blotted out, they're
gone. To put an end to sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity,
so that God and His people will be in peace with one another.
To bring in everlasting righteousness, so that all that the law of God
says of His people is, they are perfectly righteous. to seal up the vision and the
prophecy, that is, everything that was spoken of Him in the
Law and the Prophets, to seal it up, to fulfill it all, and
to anoint the Most Holy. God promised that way back in
Daniel's day. And to the very day, Christ cried
out and said, It is finished. And He accomplished it all. God
promised it and He brought it to pass because He is sovereign
to do as He promises. There's not a promise in this
book that he's not brought to pass. Well, what about all the
things that men do in the world and all the opposition there
is that could possibly make it so that God's promises won't
come to pass? Proverbs 19.21 says, There are
many devices in a man's heart. Nevertheless, the counsel of
the Lord shall stand. A man can come up with all the
different devices in his heart and all the different ways that
he thinks he's going to take God over his throne. Nevertheless,
God's counsel shall be brought to pass because God is sovereign
to do what He promised. So that's why we should trust
Him. And here's a fourth reason. He's worthy of all our trust
because He's a just God and a Savior. He's a just God and a Savior.
This is what we've been looking at in Romans 3. Lord willing,
we're going to look at it again Sunday. The righteousness of
God, that holy character of God that required Him to send His
Son to justify His people and uphold His law to declare God
just and the justifier. That holy character of God that
required that His law be honored before God could pour out mercy
on His people. That very holy character, now
that justice has been satisfied, now that His law has been upheld
and His people have been made righteous, that same holy, just
character of God demands that He show mercy to everybody Christ
justified. He cannot lose one of them. He
cannot pour out justice on Christ and turn around and pour out
justice on them again. And He will not. He's a just
God and a Savior. Justice is the friend of His
people because justice is satisfied by Christ. And so God will, according
to His own holy character, He will not lose one for whom Christ
died. That's why we preach particular
redemption. He made an end of the transgression
for somebody in particular. He made an end of sins for somebody
in particular. He brought in everlasting righteousness
for somebody in particular. He made reconciliation for the
iniquity of somebody in particular. Those God gave to him. And so
now justice demands that every one of those be brought to faith
in Christ and preserved and brought to final glory with God because
God is just. Now brethren, there's four reasons.
We could go on. God's our creator and He's our
sustainer. He's truth and He cannot lie. He's sovereign to bring to pass
all His promises and He is a just God and a Savior. There's four
excellent reasons why every one of us ought to trust in the Lord
with all our heart. Four reasons. God's worthy of
all our trust. And that's what trust is. Look
here. Proverbs 3, 5. Trust in the Lord with all thine
heart. In all thy ways acknowledge Him. That's trust. It's to trust Him
all the way. To trust Him with all your heart.
Faith in Christ is willingly surrendering all my heart. Remember in Revelation, he says,
give me thine heart. If you give him your heart, it's
because he's given you a new heart. He don't want that filthy,
stinking, fleshly heart. He's going to give his people
a new heart. And then he says, now give it all to me. And that's
what faith is, giving Him all my heart, all my ways, all my
life, giving it all to the care and the rule and the dominion
of the Son of God as my Lord and my Savior. That includes
trusting Him for eternal salvation, and all the work that's required
to make me accepted of God, as well as trusting Him with the
government of our lives as we pass through this world. Trusting
the Lord is to devote my entire life to Him. To consecrate my
entire life to Him. That means my family, my wife,
my children, my talents, my time, and my money. Because what I'm
doing is I'm acknowledging none of that is of me. Faith and commitment
to Him is acknowledging He gave it all. He bought us lock, stock
and barrel in where He is and everything we have He gave it
to us. He gave us spiritual life. He
gave us faith. He gave us repentance. He gave
us righteousness. He gave us sanctification. He
gave us redemption. He gave us wisdom. He gave us
all the gifts we have, all the temporal possessions we have,
nothing we have. we produced. None of it. He gave
it all. And faith in Christ is committing
it all to Him. Remember David, when he gave
all so abundantly and all the people gave so abundantly, they
said, Lord, all we've done is given what you gave to us. That's
faith in Christ. We don't do it thinking we've
given Him some great gift, because everything we give, He's given
to us. It's committing it all to Him.
Faith acknowledges Him in all our ways. No matter what the
way is, we're acknowledging Him in all our ways. Christ is the
way. He is the way. And we have to
look to Christ. He bought me. I'm His. So in
everything I do, first and foremost, the first thought to a believer
is this. What's going to honor Christ?
What's going to honor Christ? What's going to bring Him the
glory? That's the first thing in a decision that's got to be
made. The greatest to just the most mundane in all thy ways. What's going to honor Christ?
What's going to honor Him? I know our children Young people
don't understand sometimes why mom and dad do what they do or
why they make the decisions they make or why they say we're going
here, we're not going there, what we're doing. The first thought is this, what's
going to honor Christ? That's the number one reason.
Where I live, where I work, where I go to school, everything. It's what's going to honor Him.
Everywhere I go and every day, He's ruling every step of my
way for my good and His glory. So in everything I'm doing and
everything in my day to day, all day, acknowledging Him first. Which way would you have me to
go? Every way concerning every gift He's given is to be used
for Him, for His cause. When I start feeling like, well,
I deserve this, and this is for me, and I'm going to be selfish,
and I'm going to go and just have this myself, it wasn't given
to me for that reason. Whatever it is, it was given
to be used in some way for serving the Lord and His people. The
Lord said this, go to Mark 8, 34. This is what the Lord said. And this sums it up right here,
Mark 8, 34. Look at this. When He had called the people
unto Him with His disciples also, He said unto them, Whosoever
will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross
and follow Me. For whosoever will save his life
shall lose it, but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake
and the gospel's, the same shall save it. That means from then
on, that doesn't mean just one time, that means from then on
our life is devoted to Him. It's all His and we're not trying
to save our life and go and have our own way, we want to have
His way. Have thine own way, Lord. That's acknowledging Him in all our
ways. Now look at this second thing.
Catch this word right here. Trusting in the Lord means we
do not look to ourselves. It's trusting in the Lord with
all our heart. It's acknowledging Him in all
our ways. And look at this, and it's not
leaning to our own understanding. Proverbs 3, 5, he says, Trust
in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. Now, nothing is more fickle,
frail, deceptive, and deceiving as our own fleshly understanding. Scriptures are crystal clear
on this. Our hearts are sinful and deceitful. Listen to Jeremiah
17, 9. The heart is deceitful above
all things, and desperately wicked. Who can know it? That's saying we don't know our
own heart. Our fleshly sinful heart. Now
we live in a world that thinks just the opposite. We live in
a world that doesn't think that. They're telling you constantly,
follow your heart. Follow your heart. And there
is a part in a believer that thinks just the opposite. And
that's the part he's talking about. That's deceitful above
all things. It's that part of me and you
that says, well, I don't know if it's that deceitful. It's
deceitful. Listen to this, he that trusteth
in his own heart is a fool, but whoso walketh wisely he shall
be delivered. So that's one reason we don't
lean to our own understanding is our heart is deceitful above
all things and desperately wicked. We don't know it. We don't know
the depths of the wickedness of our fleshly heart. Number
two, we don't lean to our own understanding because our way
is not of us. Now listen to this, our way is
not of us. Look at Jeremiah 10.23, or let
me, I'll read this to you. Jeremiah 10.23, just listen to
this. Lo, Lord, I know that the way
of man is not in himself. It is not in man that walketh
to direct his steps. Let's go to Psalm 37 and look
at verse 23. Psalm 37, 23. The steps of a good man. He's talking
about one of His people that He's made righteous. The steps
of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delighteth in
His way. They're established, they're
ordered by the Lord. Proverbs 16, 1. Look at this. Proverbs 16, 1. The preparations of the heart
in man, that's the disposings, that's the disposition, the heart,
whatever you're inclined to do. The preparations of the heart
in man and the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. Listen to Proverbs 20 and verse
24. Proverbs 20 and verse 24. Man's goings are of the Lord. How can a man then understand
his own way? You mean to tell me that whatever
we do in this world, it's the Lord bringing it to pass? That's exactly what he's saying.
You and I think we're doing what we're willing to do. And you
do what you do because you're willing to do it. But even if
it's against the Lord, The willingness is either put in you by the Lord
or turned in you by the Lord or Him giving you a sinful, allowing
you to do your sinful will, but it's all been predetermined and
it's all being disposed of by the Lord. Whatever's come in
the past. So, it's really useless for you
and me to say, well, I'm going to do what I want to do. Okay,
do what you want to do. You're going to do what the Lord
would have you to do. Even in that rebellion, if a
man says, I'm just going to have my own way, have at it, you're
going to fulfill exactly what the Lord would have you to do.
And whatever it is that you want to do that was not what the Lord
would have you do, you're not going to do it. That's just the
way it is. So we ought to just stop trying
to say, I'm going to do, and start saying, Lord, what would
you have me to do? It's all of your disposing. I know you're
directing it. I know that nothing is going
to come to pass, but whatever you've already determined to
be done, so Lord, what would you have me to do? You mean it's
that ordered and it's that sure in everything, in everybody in
this world, even in those that know Him and those that don't
know Him? Everybody. Everybody. That's a sovereign
God, isn't it? That's just how, that's how real
it is. The way of a man is not of himself,
it's of the Lord. And here's the third reason we
don't lean to our understanding, because we walk by faith, not
by sight. What we call leaning to our own
understanding, and what he's talking about here is leaning
to our own understanding, is reasoning everything out and
trying to determine what would be best based on what's logically,
reasonably best to us to do it. Faith in Christ is more reasonable
than our fleshly reasoning. Walking by faith, not by sight. Sometimes the Lord, well all
the time, faith is doing something without seeing how it's possibly
going to be able to happen. I mean, think about when Lord
Moses tells them, go forward. And they're standing at the Red
Sea, and they look at the Red Sea, and it's out there, waves are
tossing, and it's a sea! And he told them, Go forward! Go forward! It's a sea! We're going to drown if we go
forward! Go forward! And Moses, you stretch that rod
out over the sea, and it's going to go back, and it's going to
divide. Moses by faith went, dug his rod out and that sea
went back and they went forward. Can you imagine the faith walking
into that and seeing that sea on each side of you and trusting
the wind is holding that back so that you can go across? I
would have loved to have seen that. I don't know how it could
have happened. I don't know how he did it, but
it was a wind, it says, and it forced the sea to be divided
and they went across on dry ground. That's faith. Walking by faith. Trusting the Lord to bring it
to pass. Here's the fact of it. Every time you and I have ever
gone away that's ended up in sin and failure and trouble and
heartache, it was us leaning to our own understanding. Every
time. And every time we've ever done
anything that resulted in and anything prosperous and good,
it was the Lord that made us do that. The other was of the
Lord too, but he was just showing you and me what we do when we
lean to our own understanding. You get what I'm saying? We just,
in all your ways, acknowledge the Lord. Trust the Lord and
cast it all into His hands. Think what we thought about by
leaning to our own understanding. Initially, originally, think
of what we all thought by leaning to our own understanding. Here's
what I thought by my own understanding. Well, we have to choose the Lord. Wrong. Scripture says, we didn't
choose the Lord, He chose us. We didn't love the Lord, He loved
His people. This is what I thought by my
understanding. I thought there's something I have to do to give
myself spiritual life and faith and repentance so I can come
to Christ. Wrong. Christ said we have to
be born again of the Holy Spirit. We have to be irresistibly drawn
by the Father to Christ. That's how we come to Christ.
My all understanding was, I have to go to this book and I have
to read it and find out what I have to do to make myself good
enough for God to receive me and to be brought into God's
presence. Wrong. Christ is the righteousness
and holiness of His people. And even after we're brought
to faith in Christ, if we have this understanding that once
He's given us a new heart, now we're wise enough that we can
direct our own steps and persevere by our strength, wrong is God
which worketh in you both the will and the do of His good pleasure.
You see, all our understanding by nature is just wrong. It's
just wrong. And when we start looking to
ourselves to try to figure out what to do in this world without
acknowledging Him, it's wrong. It's just wrong. Well, preacher,
I think that's taking it too far. Then hear the next word,
Proverbs 3, 7. Look there at Proverbs 3, 7.
Be not wise in thine own eyes, fear the Lord, and depart from
evil. Now let me say something to a young people. Will and Joshua. I want you all to listen to this. Especially, you sit here all
your life under the gospel. You see your friends mocking
this gospel. And so you think, you think it's
safe to go with the numbers. You think there's safety in numbers.
If I have this many friends, that don't believe and this many
people, everybody I come in contact with thinks this is foolishness.
How can that many people be wrong? I thought that. I thought that
when I was in a very small congregation down in South Arkansas and nobody
I knew believed the gospel. Nobody. And I thought, well,
the world doesn't believe this. How could this be true? How could
this be right? Just this little small group
of people that believe this gospel. Listen to Christ. "...Enter ye
in at the straight gate, for wide is the gate, and broad is
the way that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in
thereat. Because straight is the gate,
and narrow is the way which leads to life, and few there be that
find it." You see, in spiritual things, the majority are always
wrong. Always, in every generation,
in every place, all the time, God has only had a very small
remnant. The majority were wrong. The majority were wrong. That's
exactly what Christ is saying. There's a broad way that leads
to destruction and many go that way. So don't be wise in your
own eyes and say, well, I'm not going to believe the way my mom
and dad believed. I'm not even going to seek the Lord. I'm going
to go the way that the majority is going because the majority
has got to be right. No, they're not. You're being
wise in your own eyes and that's wrong. And the worst thing for you and
I who believe is to think that now that we've walked with the
Lord a while, we're wise enough to lean to our own understanding.
You're not wise in your own eyes. Don't look at yourself as being
wise now. It's a bad thing when a believer
gets to a certain point, he thinks he's been in the faith so long
now, he's wise and, you know, overcome a lot and just a wise
old sage now. Oh boy, if we get there, we've
proven we're a big old dummy is what we've proven. The apostles
walked with the Lord, Peter walked with the Lord, And they got to
a point where they thought they were going to be wise in their
own eyes. And the Lord Jesus said, All ye shall be offended
because of me this night, because it is written, it's written,
I will smite the shepherd and the sheep shall be scattered.
But after that I'm risen, I'll go before you into Galilee. But
Peter, he said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will
not I. Peter, it's written in the Scriptures
that you're going to be offended at me. No, I'm not. No, I will not. Listen, Jesus
said unto him, Verily I say unto you, that this day, even this
night, before the cock crows thrice, For the cock crows twice, thou
shalt deny me thrice. But he spake the more vehemently,
If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. And likewise also said they all. That's being wise in your own
eyes. And within an hour, Peter, James,
and John were in the garden of Gethsemane sound to sleep when
the Lord had told them, watch and pray. sound asleep. And a little while later, Peter
denied Him three times, and departed, and so did they all. So did they
all. Leaning to our own understanding,
being wise in our own eyes, is the evil that he's talking about
right here when he says, be not wise in thine own eyes, fear
the Lord, and depart from evil. What evil? The evil of being
wise in your own eyes. the evil that our all fleshly
deceitful heart is. Apart from that, Christ said
we never come to a place where we can do anything without Him. He said, About in me and I in
you as a branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it about it
in the vine, no more can you except you about in me. I'm the
vine, you're the branches, he that abideth in me and I in him,
the same brings forth much fruit, for without me you can do nothing. That's what He means. Now let's
don't ever think we're wise enough that we can do anything without
Him. Now here's the last thing. He gives us sure promise. A sure
promise. Verse 6, In all thy ways acknowledge
Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Verse 7, Fear the Lord,
depart from evil, it shall be health to thy navel and merit
to thy bones. Now, if you haven't cast your
care on Christ, instead of leaning to your own understanding, instead
of being wise in your own eyes and thinking you should be like
worldly friends. Listen to what the Lord says,
ìLet not thine heart envy sinners, but be thou in the fear of the
Lord all the day long, for surely there is an end, and thine expectation
shall not be cut off.î If you trust the Lord and you expect
Him to give you a sure end and bring you into salvation, and
He says, ìTrust Him,î that wonít be cut off, youíre going to have
it. But don't envy sinners, don't say I want to be like them. Instead
of thinking there's some worthiness in you to deserve God's favor,
in all thy ways acknowledge what God says of you. He says there's
none righteous, no not one. And He says He won't receive
you into His presence unless you're holy and righteous as
God Himself. That's only in Christ. So in
all your ways, look not to your own understanding, and don't
be wise in your own eyes, cast all your care into Christ's hands,
fear God and depart from evil, and He'll direct your steps straight
to Christ the mercy seed. You want mercy? He'll direct
your steps straight to Christ. Men that say, I want mercy and
I'm begging for mercy, He just won't give me mercy. You don't
want mercy. Because He says in this book,
everybody that comes to Him begging mercy, He delights to show them
mercy. And He never turned away one.
When we're really broken hearted and really see that we're just
a sinner and worthy of death, worthy of God's fury, worthy
of God's just wrath, That's when we'll come without making any
demands. That's when we'll stop leaning to our understanding
and saying, well I thought it was going to be how I thought
it was going to be. And we'll come to God on His terms and
that's when He'll direct our steps. And He'll make it medicine
to our inner man and marrow to our bones. Christ our life. Christ our life. and then believe
the same goes for us. In all our ways acknowledge Him. Just like we trust Christ alone
for righteousness and holiness and for all things that pertain
to salvation. In every aspect of our life put
it all in His hands. Roll it all on Him and trust
Him and cast all your care on Him and acknowledge Him and He
says He will direct our steps and He promises you it'll be
health to you, it'll be medicine to you, and He'll keep you all
your days. Our Lord said, five sparrows
are sold for a penny. And He said, and not one of them
is forgotten before God. And He says, are you not worth
more than many sparrows? He said, look at the lilies out
in the field. They're not toiling, they're not spinning, they're
not worrying, they're not anxious. And he said Solomon in all his
glory wasn't arrayed like one of them. If God takes care of
them, which today are and tomorrow they're in the oven, they're
burned up, don't we think he's going to take care of his people?
His own children that he gave his son to lay down his life
for? He said the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So
he said, Therefore take no anxious thoughts, saying what shall we
eat and what shall we drink, how shall we be clothed, that's
what the world is seeking. Your father knows what you have
need of, our father knows what we need. As fathers, don't we
give our children what they need? Lord said, and we're evil and
we know how to give good things to our children, it has. Our
heavenly father, holy and righteous, he can give us what we need.
His holy justice demands it and He's going to do it. But He says,
seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and
all these other things will be added to you as you need them. When we were in that firehouse
and I was trying to strengthen your faith and to encourage us
to get in a new building and all, I had my own doubts and
my own unbelief. I was just trying to put up a
good front for you. And now look, on Sunday we were
to the point of needing to put out chairs. Who would have thought
that? Just trust the Lord. He'll provide. He'll provide. This is trust
in the Lord with all thine heart. Lean not to thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes. Fear the Lord and depart from
evil. It shall be health to thy navel
and marrow to thy bones. Amen.
