Turn with me, if you would, to
1 Corinthians chapter 6. 1 Corinthians 6, and let's read verses 9 to 11. It says, know ye not that the
unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived, neither fornicators,
nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of
themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards,
nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of
God. And such were some of you, but you are washed but you are
sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus
and by the Spirit of our God. This portion of scripture is
where our message is gonna come from because I received an email. Quite often I will get someone
who reaches out with questions or true concerns and I received
an email from a man and it was a very good email with a very
good question regarding two of these verses that I just read
to you. And I have been reached out to
before quite a few times actually on these particular verses. Many times I have had different
ones reach out to me and have had real questions about these
two verses because of what they say. They're so clear and so
stark in what they say. And I know that men and women
read this and they wonder about it and they worry about it and
rightfully should. We rightfully should. A wise man or woman will worry
about the first two verses that we just read right there. This
is a truth that will stand in the judgment of God. Verse nine says, Know ye not
that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? That's
so. He said, They're not coming in.
There are many who will not go in. Who are the unrighteous? Who
are the ones who are not worthy to go in? Who fall into that
category? Well, verse 9, he said, be not
deceived, neither fornicators, anyone who has committed fornication
outside of marriage, nor idolaters, anyone who's ever
worshipped a false god. That's what an idolater is, someone
who's ever Worshipped a false God other than the true and living
God of scripture. Anyone who has ever been in and
believed false religion. Or put anything above in value
or desire, the true and living God, like money or whatever it
may be. Verse 9 says, nor adulterers,
anyone who has ever cheated in a marriage, cheated on a spouse.
People hear that and they think, well, what constitutes as cheating?
God said desiring it in the heart constitutes as cheating. If it
starts right there, that's cheating. Verse 9 says, nor effeminate. He goes on to say, nor abusers
of themselves with mankind, that's homosexuality, but to take it
a step further, he said, if a man is effeminate, he's not coming
in. Verse 10 says, nor thieves, if
a person has ever stolen anything, and that doesn't just mean robbed
anybody, that means willingly taken anything without pay for
it. And the thing about it is, I
want us to really enter into this, is God is holy. God is
holy. Whatever God says, He means.
If He says this is how it is, this is how it is. Verse 10 says, Nor covetous if
a person has ever wanted or desired or been jealous of anything that
he or she doesn't have that somebody else does have. Desiring what
somebody else wants. It says nor drunkards, we know
what that is. Nor revilers, that means abusive,
anyone who is abusive. Nor extortioners, if anyone has
ever manipulated a situation to get what he or she wants,
they're not going in. The end of the verse says, shall
not, nor is how the verse started, inherit the kingdom of God. Now here's the question that
was asked to me. Is it possible for God's people to be any of
those things? Is it possible for God's people
to be any of those things? And what that means is if a person
is any of those things, can that person still be a child of God? What a great question. That's
a great question. More men and women ought to ask
that question. If I fit any category right there,
is it still possible for me to be a child of God? As I responded to this email,
I was so personally blessed by the glory of the gospel, the
absolute glory of the gospel. I just overwhelmingly felt led
to bring this for our message and to, along with this, observe
the Lord's table. First, let me say that not only
are God's people at least most of these things, physically,
They are all of these things spiritually. All of these things. God's people
come from the same wicked, sinful lump that every other soul on
this earth comes from. Really. All have sinned and come short
of the glory of God. All have. And these two verses right here
only prove to us that we are absolutely vile creatures before
God. As we read down through these
verses, I guarantee you, you had the same response I had with
the very first one I stated, that's me. Oh, that's me. That's what God's people have
to say regarding every condemnation of the scripture. That's me. This morning, this message is
very similar to the one I brought this morning. This morning, I
had you turn to Romans three this evening. I'd like for you
to turn to Romans three. Romans 3 verse 19. Now we know that what things
soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law,
that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may become
guilty before God. You know, men and women, Generally
speaking, they do not know what this word says, and it's because
we, by nature, do not want to know what this word says. This
word is very, very condemning. It's very convicting. And what
we just read right there is what our text does for us. 1 Corinthians
6, 9, and 10. It stops every mouth. All of a sudden, you hear something
like that, and everybody just stops. It stops every mouth, it exposes
every soul on earth as being guilty before God. Guilty in the flesh, guilty in
the mind, guilty in the heart. Our Lord said whatever is done
in the heart and in the mind is as good as being done in the
flesh before Him. That's what He said. Because
this is where everything originates. This is where everything starts.
And as soon as it starts, it's done. That's how it is with God. If it is His desire, will, and
purpose, it's done. It's done. And that's how it is with us.
If that desire enters the heart, it's done. Every soul in this
flesh is guilty before God. Every soul in this room is guilty
before God. This is where the law leaves
us. Guilty before God, guilty. And I have people call and write
and ask about these verses and what's the deal with them? What
do you make of them? Here, here's what the deal is.
There's no excuse for anybody. What's the deal with those two
verses? Here it is. They leave everybody without
excuse. No excuse. That covers everybody. Man at his best state is altogether
vanity. That means empty. That means
nothing. That means worthless. That means
ruined. People go to false religion to
feel good about themselves. People come to the truth to get
honesty. Honesty. Everything that we think is a
righteousness before God, God said, is actually a filthy rag
in His eyes. And 1 Corinthians 6 tells us
that the only hope that any sinner has is the blood of Jesus Christ. Go with me back to 1 Corinthians
6. Verse 9 says, Know ye not that
the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived, neither fornicators,
nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of
themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards,
nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of
God. And such were some of you." I could put the word Gabe right
there. Can a child of God fall into
any of these categories? Is it possible for a child of
God to fall into any of these categories? Oh, absolutely. Such were some of you. Verse 11 says, but you are washed. But you are washed. All were
sinners, but some were washed. When he says such were some of
you, all were sinners, but some of you were washed. God has a
people. God has a chosen people. God has an elect people that
he chose to wash in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. All
are in the same condition. It's not that some people are
better than other people. All people are ruined. All people
are ruined. And the only hope that any soul
has is to be washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Revelation
1 5 says all the saints in glory are going to cry unto Him that
loved us. and washed us from our sins in
His own blood." Not a soul there is going to cry, thank God I
didn't do anything to get me kicked out of this place. Not
a soul there. Every soul is going to cry unto
Him that loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.
What can wash away my sins? You read the law, you read the
scripture, and you find out, oh, no, I'm a sinner against
God. Sinners are not coming in. Sinners are not coming in. They're
not coming in. The unrighteous will not enter
glory. Well, then what's the hope for
me? The blood of Jesus Christ. the blood of the Lamb. What can
wash away my sins? I need my sins to be washed away. They need to be taken away, away. What can wash away my sin? Nothing
but the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now this is what I want
to get across concerning all of these sins that we know we
have committed. I know I have committed them
and you know you have committed them. This is what I want to get across
concerning all of these sins that we know that we have committed.
In the death of the Lord Jesus Christ, our sins were not just
washed They were removed. They were not just paid for. We think about them being covered
in the blood and in our Lord with that blood, making the payment
that was owed. They were not just paid for.
They were removed. They were not just forgiven.
Oh, forgive me for my sin. They were not just forgiven.
They were removed. 1 Peter 2.24 says, Christ bore
our sins in His body on the tree. Christ bore our sins in His own
body on the tree. That means He took them out of
us and placed them in Himself. For our scripture reading a moment
ago, we read Isaiah 53. It says, it pleased the Lord,
it pleased the Father to literally take the sins of His chosen people,
every soul He chose to do this for, It pleased Him to take those
sins off of those people and to lay them on the Lord Jesus
Christ and then to bruise the Lord Jesus Christ for it. It
pleased the Lord to do that. It was our sins on Him and in
Him. He was sinless. We are sinful. A sinless man cannot die. A sinless
man cannot suffer the punishment and the judgment of God. A sinful
man has to do that. Our sins were on him. Our sins
were in him. And as Christ hung on that cross
of Calvary with our sins that the scripture says he was made
to be, God dealt directly with us in
Him. This is the amazing thing about
it. Every word in this is so. Every word in this is so. This
word does not say sinners are not coming in. But I tell you
what, you come on. It doesn't say that. If it says
the unrighteous is not coming in, the unrighteous is not coming
in. If it says sinners are going
to be judged and condemned and damned and killed and cast out,
then that's what's going to happen to them. And such were some of
you. But God put all of that sin that
we had committed, He took it all off of us. He took it all
out of us. He removed it as far as the east
is from the west. And He did that by laying it
on the Lord Jesus Christ. And as Christ hung there on the
cross of Calvary, God dealt with our sin in Him. We read, you know, 1 Corinthians
6 like this and say, what does that mean for us? What does that
mean for us? Look at the cross of Christ. That's what it means
for us. What is God going to do to us
because of this? Look at the cross of Christ.
That's what it means for us. God dealt with us over those
sins. in the Lord Jesus Christ. He
judged us. He condemned us. He punished
us. He killed us in the person of
the Lord Jesus Christ. We were rejected for our sin. I was a thief. I was a robber. I was covetous. I was everything
that I know I am. And I was rejected and God rejected
me in the Lord Jesus Christ. God forsook me in the Lord Jesus Christ. My
God, my God, why have you forsaken me? It's because of Gabe Stoniker. That's the reason why. We were cast out of the presence
of God in the person of Christ, our glorious substitute Savior. We were unacceptable. Therefore
Christ, in our place, as us, for us, was cast out, unacceptable. Cut off from the land of the
living. That's what Isaiah 53 said. Cut
off. That's what we were owed. That's
what he endured. He endured death. He endured
judgment and death. Outside of Christ, That's what
awaits every soul that goes to stand before God in his or her
sin. We are sinners. We have sinned. And if we do
not have Christ and we do not have the blood of the Lord Jesus
Christ and the substitution death of the Lord Jesus Christ, then
when we go stand before God, that's how he will deal with
us. The way he dealt with Christ, that's the way he will deal with
us. We will receive judgment, we will receive death, and we
will receive one that we will never be able to satisfy. This
is why sinners die and never come back out of the ground.
It's because sinners are not able to satisfy the judgment
that's put on them. Sinners are not able to satisfy
and fulfill the death that is required of them. It's an eternal
judgment. It's an eternal death that sinful
man will never be able to satisfy and fulfill. But here's the thing
about it. Christ did. Christ did. He satisfied it. This great judgment that was
owed for my wicked wretchedness. Christ satisfied it. Christ fulfilled
it. That's the reason why He arose
from the dead. It's because He fulfilled everything
that was required. And when He arose from that grave,
every soul in Him arose from that grave, arose with Him from
that grave. Verse 11 right here, 1 Corinthians
6, verse 11, it says, And such were some of you, but you are
washed But you are sanctified. And what that word means is made
pure. It means separated from sin. That's what it means. In this sin removal transaction,
this Substitution of Christ. That's what it was. It was a
sin removal transaction with him standing in the place of
his people. Verse 11 goes on to say, you are justified. You're justified. God's people
hear that and they cry, no, I'm guilty. The gospel cries, no,
Christ was made to be guilty. For you. That's what He did for His people
on the cross. He made Himself, the Father made Him to be guilty
for His people in the place of His people. What we were, that's what He
was made to be. I don't even want to expound
because it feels like blasphemy to me. But what we just read
in 1 Corinthians 6, what we know we are, That's what he was made
to be. I don't want to expound on it,
but that's what he was made to be. Therefore, what he was, that's
what we were made to be. What was he? What was Jesus Christ? Here's the answer. Justified. Justified in everything he'd
done. Pure. Absolutely pure. Separate from
sin. No sin. In Him, that's what His people
are. That's what His work on the cross has made His people
to be. Verse 11 says, Such were some
of you, but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus. and by the Spirit
of our God. All of the sins of God's people
were dealt with from the cradle to the grave. All of them. The sins that God's people haven't
even lived out yet, they've already been dealt with in Christ. We're
going to sin today. We're going to sin tomorrow.
Is there any excuse? No. We ought to be six feet under.
But thank God Christ took our place. And every sin that we have and
are and will ever commit has been dealt with in the Lord Jesus
Christ. God saw us and saw all of our sin in Christ. That's
where he looked at it. That's where he saw it. We have
these sins and we don't want people to see them. Well, that's
where he saw them. in the Lord Jesus Christ, in
the one that our sin was removed to. Therefore, when God looks
at His people now, all He sees is the perfection Christ left
them in. He removed it. He removed it
all. He took it all away. And all
that's left is the righteousness that Christ left His people in.
By the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ, there is nothing
left in God's people to punish. There's nothing left. There's nothing to condemn of. There's nothing to accuse of. Who is He that condemneth? It's
Christ that died. By his one sacrifice, Hebrews
9, 12 says, he obtained eternal redemption for us. Second Corinthians 5, 21 says,
when he who knew no sin was made to be sin for us, we were made
to be the righteousness of God in him. Because God saw us in
Christ, he now sees Christ in us. And that's just so relieving,
isn't it? Now, let me just say this. Did
Christ die for everybody? Did Christ do this for everybody?
No. He did it for many. He did it
for every soul the Father gave to Him. And if we want to know if He
did this for us, here's how we can know. He will cause us to
believe He will cause us to believe this. He will cause us to cast
our all on this. He will cause us to need this. He will cause us to want this
and hope in this. If we belong to Him and Christ
did this for us, we will want the substitution of Jesus Christ
more than anything else in this life. He will draw us to Christ. He will put faith in us for Jesus
Christ and love in us for Jesus Christ. And if you need Jesus Christ,
and if you need that substitution, if you need his judgment, if
you need that mercy that came through him, then he did this
for you. He did this for me. He did this
for you. That is the wonderful announcement of the gospel. If
the Father has drawn you to Christ, then Christ has set you free.
He has totally removed all sin from you, paid all debt for you,
suffered all death for you, and completely set you free. That
is the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Now, for every
soul who believes that and needs that and looks to that, we're
going to observe His table. This is the ordinance that He
gave to us. to remember his death until he
comes, to remember what he did for us on that cross until he
comes. And this is our moment to give
thanks. We give thanks in the heart.
We give thanks in this ordinance. Lord, thank you for saving our
souls. Thank you for the gospel of substitution. Thank you so much. Let's remember
him in this table. All right, Brother Jared, you
