Go with me if you would back
to 2 Corinthians 1. 2 Corinthians 1, I'd like for us
to read one verse. Verse 20. For all the promises of God in
Him are yea, and in Him, Amen, unto the glory of God by us. Now there are a couple of things
that I would like for us to take note of before we get into this.
Number one, He tells us where all of the promises of God are. They are in him. He tells us
that twice, he said, for all the promises of God in him. Are you a. And in him, a man
unto the glory of God by us, they are in him. Who is him? Verse 21. Now he which establisheth
us with you in Christ. All of the promises of God are
in the Lord Jesus Christ. And I want to make that clear
because you can say that and people can really have no idea
what you mean by that. This is what that means. All
of the promises of God are to Christ. That's where they are. All, every
promise God has made is to Christ. Why would He make us a promise
and not them a promise? What makes us any different than
them? All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. All
the promises of God are to Jesus Christ and whoever He put in
Jesus Christ. We only receive the promises
because we're in Him. Outside of the Lord Jesus Christ,
God makes no promises of blessing to men. Now there are promises
outside of Christ. God has made promises to those
who are outside of Christ and they are yay and amen too. They are going to be fulfilled
also. Will the promises that God has
made to sinners outside of Christ come to pass? Promises of destruction,
promises of judgment, promises of wrath, promises of an eternal
torment of fire. Will the promises that God has
made to sinners outside of Christ come to pass? Yes, and so be
it. Yay and amen. There are plenty
of promises to those who are outside of the Lord Jesus Christ,
but they are not promises of blessing. They are promises of condemnation. But for today's message, I don't
want to dwell on any of those promises. There's plenty of them.
There are plenty of them. But I don't want to dwell on
those today. I want us to dwell on the promises that are in Christ. I want to dwell on the promises
that God has made to all those that He has sovereignly placed
in Him, in the Lord Jesus Christ. Verse 20 says, For all the promises
of God in Him are yea, and in Him, Amen, unto the glory
of God by us. Yea and Amen means yes and so
be it. That's what it means, yes and
so be it. Whatever God says, that's the way it is. Whatever
God says. If God said it in His Word, it
is yes and yes. That's the answer. Yes and yes. He said, we just heard our brother
read it. Paul said, when I came, I did
not preach a yes and no message. I preached a yes and yes message
to you. Where man has gone wrong in religion
today. The error of man's false religion. This is honestly how you can
tell if you are listening to a message of lies and false religion. And you need to do this. You
need to try the spirits, whether they are of God, you need to
try me. Don't hang your soul on me. I'm serious. Don't hang your eternal soul
on me and don't hang it on any other man out there. This is how you can know if you
are listening to a message of lies and a message of false religion. The message of error and false
religion is a yes and no message. That's how you can spot it. The message of lies, the message
of error is a yes and no message. Here's an example of that. Is Christ enough? Is Christ all? All that God requires? All that
I need? Is Christ truly enough? Well, yes and no. It's really more of a cooperation
between the two of you. That's a message of lies. Hebrews 1 says, He by Himself
purged our sins. Isn't that what it says? Alright,
so then, is the blood of Christ sufficient to put away my sin? And I mean all of it. I mean
all of it. Cradle to the grave, all of it. Is the blood of Christ enough
to put away all my sin? Yes and no. His blood put away your past
sins. That's what a lot of people think. From the moment He revealed Himself
to you past, that's what His blood accomplished. And His blood
put away your past sins, but you're going to have to put away
your current sins and your future sins. That's a message of lies. That's a that's a message of
false religion. Is salvation finished? You know,
everybody's asking, what must I do? What must I do? Is salvation
finished? Well, yes and no. All right. Now, Christ saved you. but you're gonna have to save
yourself too. Christ finished the work. Oh yeah, Christ finished
the work. He said it's finished. Christ
finished the work, but you're gonna have to finish it too.
That's a message of lies. That's a message of false religion. That's a false hope. Verse 20
says, for all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him
amen unto the glory of God by us. Now what I want us to do
is read some of the promises of God. There are so many promises
in here, so many. I scribbled a few. In the Bible
study, I was going to warn you that we were going to turn a
lot, and I thought, no, I'm not going to warn you because I'm
going to warn you here. We're going to kind of just go through,
okay? We're going to read some of the
promises, and I want us to read these promises believing in our
hearts that they are yea and amen. When we read this, let's
believe in our hearts that they are yea and amen. The scripture
says, Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief,
but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, being fully persuaded
that what he had promised He was able also to perform. What that means is Abraham believed
that if he said it, it was yea and amen. Yea and amen. May God give us that same belief,
that same heart of faith. Now what promises has God given
to us in His Word? We could start at Genesis 1,
but for the sake of time, let's start at Matthew 1. Turn with
me over to Matthew chapter 1. Matthew 1 verse 21, And she shall bring forth a son,
and thou shalt call his name Jesus, For he shall save his
people from their sins. He said he shall save. That's a promise. That's a promise. He didn't say he is going to
try to save. He didn't say He is going to
come and He is going to put an offer of salvation out there
just in case anybody is interested in it. He did not say that He would
save as long as we accept Him and accept His salvation. He did not say, if you will first
open your heart's door. If you will give your heart to
Me. He said, He shall save His people
from their sins. No ifs, no ands, no buts about
it. No conditions. None. No conditions. John cried, Behold
the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Now
go to the Old Testament for just a second. Go to Isaiah 53. Every time we see the word shall,
that's a promise. All right, Isaiah 53 verse 10. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise
him. He hath put him to grief. Christ. When thou shalt make
his soul an offering for sin. He shall see His seed, He shall
prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in
His hand. He shall see of the travail of
His soul and shall be satisfied. By His knowledge shall my righteous
servant justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities. God the Father shall see the
travail of His own Son's soul, and He shall be satisfied." He
shall be satisfied. He shall prolong the days of
His people Because His servant is going to justify many, for
He shall bear their iniquities. That's a promise. That is a promise. That's what God the Father promised
for His people. Now did Christ accomplish that? All of that for His people? Here's
the answer. Yea and Amen. That's the answer. Yea and Amen. It's not, well,
yes and no. Yea and Amen. Verse 4 right here says, Surely
He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows, yet we did
esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. but He
was wounded for our transgression. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace
was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed." We are. Yes, and so be it. And thank
God. Now again, there are so many
promises in this book, but go with me to John 6. John 6 verse 37, Our Lord said,
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me. The Gospel
of God's Word and God's Holy Spirit never beg anybody to come
to Christ. God's Word, you'll find this
as we read through the Word. God's Word and God's Holy Spirit
They never beg anybody to come to Christ. They command. They command. We don't beg anybody
to come to Christ. We don't stand up here saying,
now come on now. Won't you come? Won't you please
come? We're going to just keep playing
music over here. We've got some soft music and we'll keep playing
it until somebody comes. We don't do that. Our Lord said, All that the Father
giveth me shall come to me. That's a promise. And He said,
Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. That's a promise. Isn't that
wonderful? Doesn't that make you want to
come running to Him? Any man comes to me in his sin, Begging
for mercy at the throne of grace, how then know I cast him out.
Verse 38, For I came down from heaven not to do mine own will,
but the will of Him that sent me. And this is the Father's
will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me,
I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last
day. Verse 44, He said, No man can come to Me, except the Father
which hath sent Me draw him, and I will raise him up at the
last day. That's a promise. That's a yay
and amen promise. Look with me at John 10. John 10, verse 14. He said, I am the good shepherd,
and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth
me, even so know I the Father, and I lay down my life for the
sheep. Verse 27, My sheep hear my voice,
and I know them, and they follow me. and I give unto them eternal
life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them
out of my hand." Do you know that that promise is a yea and
amen promise? In John 11, he said in verse
26, Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Never die. I don't know what
happens when it's time for us to lay this sinful body down. I don't exactly know what happens,
but I know it's not death. I know we're not going to die. He said they'll never die. It's
a promise. It's a promise. Look at John
17. John 17 verse one, these words
spake Jesus and lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, father,
the hour is come. Glorify thy son, that thy son
also may glorify they. As thou has given him power over
all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou
has given him. And this is life eternal. that
they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom
thou hast sent, I have glorified thee on the earth, I have finished
the work which thou gavest me to do." What was the work? It
was the work of accomplishing eternal life for His people. In chapter 19, He cried, It is
finished. And he bowed his head and gave
up the ghost. Is salvation truly finished? Yea and amen. Yea and amen. Whenever I was studying, I was
scribbling on the side, scribbling notes, and you can't imagine
how many verses I wanted to turn to. And I realized we would just
have one service today. We'd just go right up to 6 p.m.
And we just can't, can't do it. But go to Ephesians 1. Ephesians 1 verse 2 says, Grace be to you and peace from
God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with
all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, according as
He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world.
Did He really choose us in Christ? Yea and Amen. Verse 4 goes on
to say that we should be holy and without blame before Him
in love. Now let me ask us this question.
We know what kind of people we are. We know what we are. We know
exactly what we are. Let's ask this question. Are
we really holy and without blame before him? In Christ, yea and
amen. Verse five, having predestinated
us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself according
to the good pleasure of his will. Has he truly predestinated us
to be members of his own family? In Christ, yea and amen. Verse six, to the praise of the
glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the
Beloved. Are we really accepted in the
Beloved? In Christ, yea and amen. Verse seven, in whom we have
redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according
to the riches of His grace. Are we truly redeemed? Are we truly forgiven? Are we actually reinstated by
the blood he shed for us? In Christ, yea and amen. And then he goes on down in Ephesians
1 to say that we have an inheritance. He's going to gather all his
people together. Is he really going to do that? Honestly, is
he really going to gather all his people up? Do we really have
an inheritance? The Spirit seals His people.
Are we really sealed in Christ? Yay and amen. The end of chapter
2, verse 4 says, by grace you are saved. That's a promise. In Christ, that is a promise. No buts about it. Don't turn
to these. 1 Thessalonians 4 says, I cannot wait for this. I can't
wait for this. It says, the Lord Himself, that's
what heaven's all about. The Lord Himself. And I love
the fact that He's not just going to send the angels. The Lord
Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in
Christ shall rise first, then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. That's
a promise. Hebrews 10 says, Every priest
standeth daily, ministering and offering oftentimes the same
sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this man, after
he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on
the right hand of God. This is the covenant that I will
make with them after those days, saith the Lord. I will put my
laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them,
and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. It's a promise. 1 John 2 says, My little children,
these things write I unto you, that you sin not, and if any
man sin, we have an advocate with the Father. Jesus Christ
the righteous. It's a promise. 1 John 3 says,
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear
what we shall be, but we know that when He shall appear, we
shall be like Him. For we shall see Him as He is. It's a promise. 1 John 5 says, He that hath the
Son hath life. It's a promise. Turn with me
to Revelation 21. Revelation 21, verse 1, And I
saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the
first earth were passed away, and there was no more sea. And
I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God
out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And
I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle
of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall
be His people, and God Himself shall be with them and be their
God, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. And
there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither
shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed
away. And he that sat upon the throne
said, behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, write,
for these words are true and faithful. He said, that's a promise. That's a promise. Last one, Revelation
22. Revelation 22, verse 20. He which
testifieth these things saith, surely I come quickly. He said, I'm coming quickly.
That's a promise. That's a promise. What's our
response to that? Yay and Amen. Verse 20 says,
Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
be with you all. Amen. Yay and amen. In Christ,
all the promises of God are yay and amen. Okay, let's all stand
together.
