Yea & Amen

2 Corinthians 1:19-20

In the sermon titled "Yea & Amen," Paul Mahan addresses the assurance of God's promises as articulated in 2 Corinthians 1:19-20. He argues that while human promises are often fallible and unreliable, God's promises are steadfast and true, emphasizing that "in Him" (Christ) all of God's promises are confirmed with a resounding "yes" and "amen." He references Scripture, particularly the entirety of 2 Corinthians 1, to highlight that the nature of God is such that He fulfills His word without fail, contrasting this with the frailty of human intentions. The practical significance of this message is to reaffirm believers' faith and confidence in God's unwavering character, encouraging them to trust wholly in His promises rather than in the inconsistent assurances of men.

Key Quotes

“Let God be true and every man a liar.”

“We may purpose, we may plan, we may say things, but we have no control over events.”

“Our confidence, our trust is not in man, any man. We cannot have any confidence in flesh.”

“In Him are ye. Aren't you glad? Aren't you glad? I tell you a sinner is glad when they finally believe that it's all up to Jesus Christ.”

What does the Bible say about God's promises?

The Bible reveals that all the promises of God are fulfilled in Christ, and they are certain and true.

According to 2 Corinthians 1:19-20, all the promises of God find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul emphasizes that God's promises are not yes and no; rather, they are firmly established in Christ with a certainty that reflects God's faithfulness. Each promise of God is assured through Christ, who is the embodiment of truth. This assurance gives believers confidence because it affirms that God's word is reliable and his purposes are unchangeable. Thus, the promotion of this gospel truth invites believers to rejoice in God's certain character and the guarantees of his promises.

2 Corinthians 1:19-20

How do we know God is trustworthy?

God's trustworthiness is affirmed by His unchanging nature and the fulfillment of His promises.

In the sermon, it is stated that we should put all our confidence in God who cannot lie. God’s trustworthiness is not based on human frailty but on His immutable nature. As stated in Hebrews 6:18, it is impossible for God to lie, which assures us that whatever He has promised will be fulfilled. Believers can take comfort in knowing that God’s promises are steadfast and do not depend on human ability or intention. Our confidence should rest solely in God's faithfulness and truth, which are exemplified through Jesus Christ, the embodiment of all God’s truth.

Hebrews 6:18, 2 Corinthians 1:19-20

Why is faith in Christ essential for salvation?

Faith in Christ is essential for salvation because He is the source of eternal life and the only mediator between God and humanity.

The sermon strongly affirms that salvation is exclusively through Jesus Christ, who is the 'way, the truth, and the life' (John 14:6). According to John 3:36, believe on Him guarantees eternal life, illustrating that faith in Christ is the only pathway to salvation. Furthermore, Romans 8:1 assures believers that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, emphasizing that faith in Him not only secures salvation but also ensures a righteous standing before God. Therefore, without faith in Christ, one cannot receive the promises of God nor partake in the eternal hope offered through His sacrifice.

Go to 2 Corinthians 1 with me. I've said before I don't preach
for amens, but you know, I thought, yes, I do too. I want you to
rejoice in this. I want you to love, be blessed by what you're
hearing. I love the word amen. Look at
2 Corinthians 1, verses 18 through 20. As God is true, Our word toward you was not yea
and nay, for the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached
among you by us, by me, Silas, Timothy, was not yea and nay,
but in Him, yea, for all the promises of God in Him are yea,
and in Him, amen, unto the glory of God by us. Give God all the
glory. I love the word Amen. It means
barely. You know how often Christ said
barely? In John, he would say every time
he would say it, he'd say it twice. Barely, barely. Barely,
barely. It means truly. It means true. It means truly. It means it's
certain. That's what Amen meant. It means
it's sure. It means that's the way it is. No ifs, ands, or buts. Yay. Amen. It means, and we answer
and we say it, and what it means when we say it is, that's the
way I want it. That's the way I'd have it. And
that's what I believe. Amen. Amen. Whether you say amen, amen, I'm
not sure which one it is. It doesn't matter. I love to
hear it. I love to say it. I love to say
it. I love to sit there for man's
blessing me through the preaching and I was greatly blessed in
Arkansas. Man, I'll say it. Let the redeemed
of the Lord say so. Amen. Let the amen sound from
his people again. That's what it said. You know
Christ's name is? Amen. It's what it says in the
Revelation 3, I believe it is. I didn't write it down, but it
says, Thus saith the Amen. Christ. That's His name. Verily, truly, certain, sure. He's the surety of it. Amen. Amen. He said it Himself twice,
didn't He? That we read with Him. I hope
and I pray this morning, this will be a blessing to you and
a joy to you. You usually say Amen when it's
something you enjoy. I hope it'll be a comfort and
I hope it will bring out, if not an amen in your mouth, it'll
be in your heart. Okay. Paul, here's the story
behind this, what he wrote. Paul came to Corinth, the Corinthians. He came to Corinth, big city.
He preached the gospel. That's why the Lord sent him
there. Remember, he said over in 1 Corinthians 2, he said,
I'm determined to know nothing among you save Jesus Christ and
Him crucified. And this is why I came. Paul
ran into much persecution. Most people don't like the Gospel. Most people hate it. They all
hate it until God gives them a left for it. And they rejected
the Gospel. And Paul wanted to leave. His
life was in danger. He wanted to leave. God said,
stay there. I sent you there. And he said, I have much people
in that city. You stay right there and preach. And he did.
He stayed there almost two years. And so God sent him to preach
the Gospel. It's why God sent him, Silas,
Timothy. It's what he did. He preached
the Gospel. That's what he did. That's what preachers are to
do. Paul said, woe is unto me if I preach not the Gospel. What do you do, preacher? I preach. That's it. Right? That's all Paul did. He wasn't a socializer, an organizer,
a trip organizer, a preacher of the gospel. That's what he
did. It's why God sends men, not women, men, preachers of
the gospel. It's what they do. Paul, Silas,
and Timothy. Paul, I don't know why my parents
gave me that name, but I sure got a good one, didn't I? And
I ended up, not by my choice, but by the will of God, being
a preacher. You're going to hear from Gabriel. You're going to hear from an
angel this week. Sent by God to do what? What are these men
going to do? They're going to preach the gospel.
I guarantee you, they're not going to stand in this pulpit
if they're not going to preach the gospel, preach Christ. David,
boy, we've got two good names coming down. Gabriel? David? That's what we do, why we're
sent. Many people were in Corinth,
and there are not many people here, but I tell you, it's more
than Noah had in the ark. God's greatly blessed us, hasn't
He? Huh? Amen? You're blessed to be here,
to read this and hear this. God raised up a church here. Churches aren't everywhere. You
know, the old saying, you know, in the Sunday Rocky Franklin
News Post, every Sunday it used to say, worship God in the church
of your choice. And that's what people do everywhere.
But the church of God's choice is not everywhere, but it's somewhere. And God brings His people to
that place. And you hear the preaching of
the gospel. What is the gospel? It is Christ and Him crucified.
Christ and Him crucified. And it's the same here with Paul
at Corinth and Silas and Timothy. We preach the gospel of God's
Son, of God's glory, of God's salvation, of God's power. God
has an elect people, a chosen people. Look at chapter 2. Look
at chapter 2, verse 14. He says, thanks be unto God what
always causes us to triumph in Christ when we preach Christ. Christ said, didn't Christ say,
if I be lifted up, what will happen? He said, I'll draw all
men unto me, God's people, His chosen people. Thanks be unto
God that causes us, always causes us to triumph in Christ and make
it manifest, reveals the savor of His knowledge. What is it
to be saved? It's to have the light of the
knowledge of the glory of God in the person and the work of
Christ revealed unto you. Like the sun coming up. Like
the light coming on. When Paul first heard the Gospel,
it was Christ Himself, wasn't it? And it says, suddenly, a
light shone. He didn't see the light. A light
shone round about him. Saul. Saul. My sheep here, my
boy. It's to meet Christ is what it
is. So, look at verse 15. We're unto God, a sweet savor
of Christ. And then they're saved, and then
they're perished. This is God's Son. He wrote this
whole book. He created a universe for the
glory of His Son. And that's what preachers are
to do. Preach Christ. Lift Him up. That's what the people are to
do. They come and worship God and rejoice in God's Son. Get the flesh out of it. No flesh
allowed in His church. Nuh-uh. The preaching of Christ
is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and the glory of God,
and the rejoicing of God's people. Read on. To one, we're a saver
of death unto death. I don't want to hear that. Well,
go somewhere else then. But unto others, we're a saver
of life unto life. Oh, these are words of life.
What's life? Whose life? In Him is life. Christ. Our life. The way, the
truth, and the life. Verse 16. Who's sufficient for
these things? Who can do this? Who's able to do this? No one.
But our sufficiency, Paul said, is of God. He said that to Jeremiah. Go, Jeremiah. He said,
I can't speak. I'm a child. He was 24 years
old. I can't speak. Go. Go. And we'll make you this and that
and the other. Jeremiah 1. He said to Moses, Go. Moses,
I can't. I'm not eloquent. And I say by
eloquence. I say by my word, by my power. Verse 17, we're not as many which
corrupt the Word of God, deal deceitfully with it. They twist
it and corrupt it and take it away and don't say some things
and add to it. No, no, no, no. But as of sincerity. Verse 17, sincerely in this for
the glory of God, sincerely desirous that men and women hear the Word
of God. As of God. As though God did
beseech you by us. In the sight of God. What are you doing, Paul? We
speak in Christ. That's what we do. So Paul came
to Corinth, and this, talking about James, an apostle named
James the Lesser. Well, I'm Paul the Lesser, but
I got the same message. And God's raised up a church
here in little old Rocky Mountain, and I'm so thankful. Well, Paul
purposed to come back. Alright? He went there and preached
the gospel and he stayed there over a year and a half. And he
purposed, he wanted to come back. He fell in love with these people.
And they, him. And he wrote them a letter while
he was gone. The first epistle. Alright? And he told them, I'm coming
back. I can't wait to see you. I want to come back, he said.
Well, something happened. And he couldn't come. He couldn't
come. So the whole second epistle,
he heard that some people said, see, he's not true. He's a liar. He said he was coming. He said,
yes, I'm coming. But no, he didn't come. Are you
with me? And through this whole epistle,
he said, no, I meant to come, but I was prevented from coming. Something happened. And some
that didn't like the gospel he preached and some that didn't
like him, they tried to discredit him, tried to disprove him. See?
He's a liar. He's not true. But here's the
fact. And Paul wrote this one time
in Romans. He said, let God be true and every man a liar. And what I want to show you this
morning is that we may purpose things, we may plan things, we
may try to promise things, but we are not able to fulfill our
Word. We are not able to fulfill any
promise. We can only hope to. We can't
make promises, brothers and sisters. We can't make promises. There's
only one that can make a promise, and it absolutely comes to pass. And that's our God. That's our
God. And here's the fact. We may purpose,
we may plan, we may mean well, we may say that we're going to
do this, but we have no control over events. We have no control
over things. And you know, people think God's
like us, that He makes plans and He intends to do this, but
things happen out of His control that He has no control over.
And it, well, I tried and I've done all I can. No! No, no. What God said, He said,
I've spoken it, I'll bring it to pass. I've purposed it, it'll
be done. This is the God of the Bible.
I'm getting way ahead of myself here, but I couldn't wait to
get ahead of myself. That's what He's saying. This
is what this is all about. We may plan, we may say things,
but what God says, He means it. Whatever God promises, He's going
to do it. You see, our confidence, our
trust is not in man, any man. We cannot have any confidence
in flesh. That which is flesh is flesh.
It may mean, well, you know, there are brethren that are true.
These men that are coming to preach to you, I wouldn't have
them here if they weren't true and honest and trustworthy men. I'm just certain they're going
to preach the gospel. I'm just certain. They're not
liars. Our Lord said liars are going to have their place in
the lake of fire. They're not liars. But brothers and sisters,
every man at his best state is going to lie at some point. Doesn't mean to. Doesn't want
to. Think about David. We're fallible. We're sinful. We mean well. We cannot keep promises perfectly,
no matter how hard we try. We want to. But here's the thing,
so don't put your trust, your confidence in any human being. But put all your trust. Now here
it is. Put all your trust, all your
confidence, all your hope in our God who cannot lie. In Jesus
Christ, whose name means true. Only one. Simon Peter said this, he said,
God is not slack concerning His promise. This is what people
say. People scoff and mock and say, where's the promise of His
coming? Yes, yes, we've read, we've heard that Jesus Christ
came and He lived and died and supposedly rose again and now
sitting at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Who said
that? God did. You believe God or the
naysayers? Hey, we've heard this, yes, and
they say He's going to come again. Do you remember 24 years ago
when Y2K came around? Do you remember that? It's hard
to believe. 24 years. Bam! Last time I asked
you about 9-1-1. And I said, when was that? It was 2001. I couldn't believe
it. I couldn't believe it. Twenty
years, bam, gone like that. Well, I remember distinctly when
Y2K, everybody was worried about it. Yeah, people don't believe
God, and people don't believe God's Word, and people say there's
nothing to this. They were shaking when the millennium rolled around. And then it came and went. Nothing happened. And it came
another year and nothing happened. Three years, five years, ten
years. See? Ain't nothing to do with this. He's not coming back. He's not
coming back when you think. Didn't He say that? At a time
when you think not. Twenty-four years have passed.
See? Where's the promise of His coming? Where's the promise? It's everywhere. It's everywhere. The sun comes up every morning.
It's a promise that the sun of righteousness is about to rise
with healing in His wings. Clouds are the dust of His feet.
The voice, the thunder, all of this says, I come! God's people hear it. Don't they
hear His voice? What do they say? Even so, come
quickly. Amen. Peter said, God's not slack as
some men are slack concerning His promise. God doesn't do things
according to our schedule. If there's a God in heaven, let
Him strike me dead. Well, if you don't believe me,
He will at a time when you think not. He's not slack concerning
His promise, as some men count slackness, but His long-suffering
to usward. And oh, how they corrupt this
verse of Scripture, don't they, Brother Kelly? Not willing that
any should perish. Who's the any? The brethren. Believers. The reason Christ
hasn't come back is because He has more people on this earth
that have yet to hear His voice. And I hope and pray there's a
couple in here this morning. He hasn't come back yet. The
door of the ark is still open. And He's going to bring His people
into that ark, into Christ Himself. And they're going to hear His
voice. And they're going to come to Him. All that the Father giveth
me, Christ said, shall come to me. How? Through what I'm doing
right now. What the world calls foolishness.
To them that believe, it's the wisdom of God and the power of
God. I believe it's the wisdom of God. I believe it's the power
of God because I've I've felt that power. I've heard that power.
I've experienced that power. I was skeptical. I don't believe
this. Bless God, He said, you will. In the fullness of time, He'll
send forth His Son and say, Saul! Glory. And I'm waiting. Patience of Christ, waiting on
Him to speak to somebody else. Oh, He's long-suffering to us,
but not willing that any should perish. Who? His sheep. They're
not going to perish. And He said, I give unto them
eternal life and they shall never, what? Somebody say, Amen. Let all the people say, Amen. Oh, Peter said, this is no fable.
We are eyewitnesses of His majesty. Now this is what Paul is stressing
here. Let God be true. Every man a liar. Every man at
his best states altogether vanity. Don't put your trust, don't put
your hope, don't put your confidence in anyone but the Lord. This
is especially needful right now at election time. You're going
to hear so many promises. If you just vote for me, I will,
you will. What? Just as soon as you get
elected, you'll forget all those promises. And you can't keep
any of them. Your hands are tied. Not our God in whose hands our
breath is. Oh, if you put your trust in
human beings, you're certain to be disappointed. You're certain. All right, look at verse 17 in
our text, 2 Corinthians 1. That's the introduction. In verse
17, he says, when I purposed to come, he said, verse 17, when
I therefore was thus minded, did I use likeness? The things
that I purposed, do I purpose according to the flesh? I say
yea and nay? No. To the true preacher of God,
this is no light matter. Lightness? No, no, no. This is no light matter. It's
no laughing matter. This is very serious. Light? No, no. It's a heavy burden. It's a weighty matter. Sin, judgment. This is no laughing matter. This
is no light matter. This is no frivolous, little
fun, little family time. I didn't use likeness or flesh.
Flesh. He said in Jeremiah 23, I was
going to have you turn, he says, these false prophets are known
by their likeness and their lies. Likeness means frivolity and
levity and laughter and fun and games and all that. That's how
you know them. Men and women are facing eternity.
You don't know if there is tomorrow. And they're just, you know, fun
and family and laughter and games and entertainment and frivolity
and all the clever little things that are going on. This is what
characterizes false religion. Can you picture Moses with a
smile on his face all the time? Can you picture Jeremiah? He's
called the weeping prophet. Can you picture Elijah coming
to the people? Can you picture him any way but
serious? No, no, it's not light. It's
not light matter. It's not flesh. You don't use
flesh. That which is flesh is flesh.
We want the Spirit of God to move. Take the things of Christ. Paul said we certainly don't
say yea and nay. We don't say yea and nay. Listen to it. This whole thing
started in the garden with Satan, who's the father of lies. And
here's what Satan said to the woman. That's significant. He said, hath God said? And he must have had a smile
on his face and he must have been good to look at because
Eve was listening to him and drawn by him and deluded by him. And here's what Satan said, sister. He said, hath God said? You shall
not eat of the fruit of the tree. Question mark. Is that what God
said? Is that what He meant? He said, I shall not eat it or
touch it. He didn't say that. He said,
you'll surely die. And here's what Satan said then.
You won't die. You'll be like God. Do you understand that's how
this whole mess called sin and death and hell got started? Is
that what God said? Does He mean it? Oh, that's what
He said, but He doesn't really mean that. Here's what I think
He meant. I'm not an interpreter. I'm a
declarer. When I preach, here's what I
think God means. Oh, no, no, no, no. Thus saith
the Lord. We don't say yea and nay. Verse
18, he says, God is true. Our preaching, our word toward
you is not yea and nay. God is true. All that God says
is true, it's certain, it's sure. The only way, the only truth,
the only life. And our preaching is not yea
and nay. Here's an example. Listen to me. Is God sovereign? I mean, does
God reign over everything, good and evil? Yes or no? It's not yes and no. There was
a fellow here in the Methodist place. They don't stay long.
He was here four or five years and went to bigger places. He
said this in the Franklin News Post. We control Him who controls
all things. That's what He said. That doesn't
even make good sense. But it's a lie. We don't control
anything. We certainly don't control Him
who controls all things. Is God sovereign? Yes. Thy God
reigneth. Yes. Amen? Does God love His people? Is His love everlasting? Does His love save those whom
He loves? Does it? Yes! Not yes and no. Not, yes, God
loves you today, and He might not love you tomorrow, send you
to hell tomorrow. No! Does God love His people? Now when I say yay, when I read
yay in the Scripture, when do we say yay? We don't say yay.
We say yes. When do we say yay? When something's
happening that we love. Yay! It's like a cheer, isn't
it? Don't we? You have a ball team or somebody
or something you love and something good happening. Yay! Well, that's
what this ought to elicit from God's people. God loves His people,
Scripture says. Having loved His own, He loved
them to the end. Yay! Did Christ pay for the sins
of His people? Did He put away every sin of
every one of His people? Then there's no sin to their
charge. Yay! Not yes and no. Not He'll pay
for them and you have to pay for them in hell if you don't
accept it. No! That's not the God of the Bible.
In Him, the promises of God are yay! Whatever He says, it's true. And amen. To the glory of God,
you see? God's glory is at stake. What
He says, if He doesn't do it, He's a liar like us. What He
tries to do and can't do it, He's just like us. He can't do
what He wants to do. That's not the God of the Bible. My God is God. Is He your God? Yeah. Amen. Is salvation by grace? John says,
tell me, one word, is salvation by grace? Yeah. Well, it's through
faith, or where does that come from? Not of yourselves. It's the gift of God. Yeah. Not yes and no. Not if, and,
but, or maybe. No, no, no, no, no. It's yay
and amen. His glory is at stake. Verse
19, he says, A son of God, you see, Jesus Christ was preached
among you by that. What do you preach, Paul? A son
of God. Jesus Christ. That's who we preach. That's
what we preach. The person and work of the Lord
Jesus Christ. And verse 20 says, All the promises
of God are in him. He's called the covenant head,
isn't he, Brother John? What does that mean? When did God
make all these promises? I'm going to quote you several
here. I can't wait to get to it. When did God make this purpose?
I don't like the word plan because it's not in the Bible. Purpose. Plan is like, well, try this
and if it doesn't work, try something else. No, it does not say plan.
We say that. We make our plans. It might pan
out, it might not. Not God. He said, I've purposed
it. I'll do it. And the purpose of God, the will
of God, this covenant that was written down and given to Christ
was before the world began. Before the children being born
or having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according
to the election might stand. It was said. It was written. It was purposed. And it's going
to happen. And it was given, this purpose,
this covenant, this whole shooting match, as Barnard used to say,
this whole globe and everybody and everything, it was given
to Jesus Christ. To do this work for the glory
of God, for the redemption of His people. All the promises
of God are in Him and are, yay. Look at it, verse 20. In him
are ye. Aren't you glad? Aren't you glad? I tell you a sinner is glad when
they finally believe that it's all up to Jesus Christ. It's
not up to you. Aren't you glad? Somebody say
amen. Every sinner in here ought to
say that. Amen. Yay and amen to the glory of
God. He said, Christ said, I've come,
I've finished the work, I've glorified thee. Amen. John, I was going to go
over to Ephesians 1 and Ephesians 2. All are in Him. Chosen in
Him. Accepted in Him. Redeemed in
Him. Forgiven in Him. Gathered together
in Him. In Him, I say. Paul said, In
Him, I say. Are you listening to me? One
little word. In. Him. Listen to these Scriptures. Turn
to Revelation 1 and I'll close this out. Okay? Revelation 1. We'll go back there. and see
this. Listen to some of these promises,
all right? Job 14, the oldest book in the
Bible. Job asked this question, ìIf
a man dies, shall he live again?î Is eternal life true? Is it true? Yes, it is. God said so. Job said, ìYay!î And Job said,
yeah. He said, He shall call and I'll
answer. You know when you'll answer?
When He calls. Yeah. Because we will not call. We will not call only that. And that's the promise. Whosoever
shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. I've talked to people. till I'm
blue in the face. And I can't make them call. I
know who can. And I know who will. And they
will call. That's what we're waiting on. That's our confidence. That's
our hope. Is it true that he that believeth
on the Son hath life? Is that true? Yeah. Do you believe on the Son of
God? You believe in Him, don't you? You believe in Him. He is. He was. He is to come. You believe that? He is. You
believe in Him? You believe on Him. You believe on Him? That is all
your hope? All your salvation depends on
Him? Do you believe? Half-life! Amen! God said, that's the way
it is, and so it is. That's the way I have it. I'm
sure glad it is. Amen. Seek, you'll find. Is it true? Ask, you'll receive. Knock, it'll
be opened to you. Is that true? Yeah, it is true. All that the Father giveth me
shall come unto me. Is that true? It's your will.
It's your will. Yes, it is. And him that cometh
to me, listen to me now, I will in no wise cast out. I don't
care whatever. I will in no wise under any circumstances
for any reason ever cast him out of my kingdom. Is that true?
Yay! Somebody say yay! Amen! Is it true that He's able to
save to the uttermost, the guttermost, the vilest, the most hopeless? Is it true, men to sooth? Can
He save that brother of yours? Yay! Stephen, yes! It ain't hopeless. As long as Christ lives, He's
able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God by Him. He'll receive them. Surely not
that old boy. Oh yes. Is it true that you can
sin all your life? No good bum, a black sheep, and
yet when it's all over, Accepted and a beloved. Is that true?
That He'll accept you into His Kingdom just for asking Him,
Lord, remember me. Have mercy on me. Oh, listen
to this. Listen to these Scriptures. Just
a few of them I've written down here. It says in Psalm 25, Yea,
let none that wait on thee be ashamed. Yea. Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil. Thou art with
me. Listen to this, Psalm 116, if I can find it. Yeah, it says,
Psalm 116, verse 5, it says, Gracious is the Lord and righteous.
Yea, our God is merciful. The Lord saveth the simple. He said, He delivered me, delivered
my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from falling.
Now listen to this. I will offer to Him thanksgiving
in the courts of the Lord. Oh, I'll praise Him. Yay! Is it true, is it true, that
if we just confess our sins, that he is faithful and just
to forgive us all our sins. And he can just with the word,
just completely blot out all our transgression and remember
them no more. The slate wiped completely clean. Is that true? Yeah. Is it true
that Though we cannot be justified by the works of the law, no flesh
shall be saved by the works of the law, yet we shall be justified
from all things. There won't be one mark, one
sin held against our record in the judgment. Not one thing will
ever be brought up. It's forgotten and completely
wiped out. Is that true? Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Is it true, listen to this, that
there's no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus. Listen
to Romans 8. You know this. Romans 8, 1. No
condemnation to them that are in Christ. And it goes on down
to say, Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect?
That's why I love election. One of the thousand reasons.
It is God that justifies. Who is He that condemns? It's
Christ that died. Yea, rather. He's risen again. He's the right hand of God and
always, forever maketh intercession for us. That's one I died for. Deliver him from going down to
the pit. I've got the ransom right here.
My scars. You're not going to let him in.
Oh, yes. Abundantly. Pardon me. Is that
true? Is it true, he said, I will never
leave thee, nor forsake thee? Yes, it is. And Revelation 1,
you read it with me. Look at verse 5. It says, from Jesus Christ. You
see, this was all written. Now, weren't we blessed to read
this? Were you blessed to read it?
Have you been blessed to hear this? Verse 3, those that keep
these things. Do you lay hold of these promises as if your life depended on them?
You know, it's said of Mary when she heard Simeon in the temple. It says
she kept these things. She kept these things close.
What that angel said, she kept these things. You see, people,
this is the only thing that's not too good to be true. Because God is good. Everything He says is good. This
is good news because God said it. Promises of God in Him. Look at verse 5. It says, Jesus
Christ, He's the faithful witness. He's faithful. He's true. The
first begotten of the dead. He did rise again. Yes, He did. The Prince, the King of kings
of the earth. Him that loved us and washed
us from our sins in His own blood. He's made us kings, that is,
sons of God. And priests, servants in His
kingdom. It's thought to Him be glory and dominion forever
and ever. Amen. Look at verse 17. Verse 8. I am Alpha. Verse 7. Verse 7, Behold, he cometh with
clouds. Every eye shall see him, they
which pierced him. All kindreds of the earth shall
wail because of him, even so. Amen. Amen. I am Alpha and Omega,
the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, that's
where it begins, not was, is, the I am. He said, I am the Lord,
I change not, therefore, you sons of Jacob. And in one
of the Psalms, I meant to quote this, it said, Oh, happiest he
that is in such a case. Yay. Read on. Which is, which was, and which
is to come, the Almighty. Almighty. And down in verse 18. He says, I am he that liveth
and was dead. Behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. Brother Gabe preached the
last verse in the Bible. And here's what it said. The
last word. You know what the last word in the Bible is? The
last verse. The last word of the last verse
in the Bible. Revelation 22, 21. It says there.
Let me read it to you. It says, the grace of our Lord
Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Meaning, that's the way
it is. That's the way I like it. It's
true. It's sure. Because God said so. Amen. Okay, John, you come.
