And Jesus is the truth, the way,
that leads you into rest. Believe in Him without delay,
and you are fully blessed. Only trust Him, only trust Him,
only trust Him now. He will save you, He will save
you, He will save you now. Go back to Psalm 62 now. Psalm 62. The title of this message is God
only. We're only God. We're trusting
only Him. We're waiting on Him. We're waiting on Him. Look at verses 1 and 2 again
with me. Verses 1 and 2, David says, Oh
truly, Only, my soul only, waiteth upon God. From Him cometh my
salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense. I shall not
be greatly moved. Verse 5, My soul, wait thou only
upon God, for my expectation It's from Him. He only is my
rock and my salvation. He is my defense. I shall not
be moved. And God is my salvation and my
glory, the rock of my strength. My refuge is in God. David was surrounded by enemies
all the time. He lived in a time where there
was just wars and rumors of wars. There were always enemies all
around him, along with the enemy within him. Peaceful times are really the
most dangerous times. Do you know that? Prosperous
times are really the poorest of times. Some of you know what I'm talking
about. At peaceful times, there are no wars, no enemies, there's
no danger around us per se. Prosperous times, riches, possessions,
no want. People buying, selling, building,
planting, getting great gain, material possessions, materially
prosperous. That's usually a time when people
are very poor spiritually, very poor. They have a false sense
of security because everything's good. Peace when there is no
peace. People in good times, prosperous
times, don't need saving. Don't need a refuge. If there's
no war, no enemy, you don't need a refuge, do you? Don't need
a rock or a cave to run hide in. David always knew that until
he was an old man, until finally the Lord gave him rest around
about from his enemies. He didn't have that for sixty-nine
years. And you know, America today,
that's a morning message. I didn't realize how much these
went together. But it's like Israel of old. America in the
western world, civilized world, is just like Israel of old. who
made claims to believe God, said they were God's people and became
very rich and prosperous, and they forgot God. And idols abounded
and false religion was the rule and began to be the rule and
not the exception. And the Lord was angry and the
Lord sent enemies until finally He destroyed Israel. They sent
enemies to destroy it, level it. And they'd build it back,
and they'd get in the same state, and they'd level it again. And here in our text, it's said
in verse 3, it's said in verse 3, you'll be all slain as a bowing
wall and as a tottering fence. Tottering fence. Everything's
ready to fall. Everything's ready to come crashing
down. I don't know when it's going
to happen, but it's going to happen. It always has. I finally
came to that conclusion, just looking at history, that no godless society has stood for very long at all.
The Lord brought it crashing down. This is no Christian nation. Never has been. No, it's not. There's a remnant by the grace
of God, the mercy of God. There's a remnant according to
the election of grace. The Lord brought the gospel over
here, thankfully. But we've never had a Christian
president. We've never had Christian rulers.
It don't happen now. People all over this nation aren't
believing, trusting the Lord Jesus Christ. They're religious,
have a form of godliness. It's not a Christian nation at
all. Not at all. There's only been one or two
or three societies that I know of that could be called Christian. It was David's day. David was
a Christian. Christian. He loved the Lord
Jesus Christ. Everybody around him did. Well,
now it may be amazing to live in a time like that. But they
had wars and rumors of wars and all that. They weren't fighting.
They weren't at ease. On Solomon's day, perhaps, Josiah,
the Lord brought a great revival then and all. Look at Isaiah
chapter 30 with me. Isaiah 30. And David, and this
is my question to us, all of us, who or what are we trusting
in? Who are we looking to? What are we looking for? What
are we waiting for? What are we hoping in? What's
our expectation for the future? What are you waiting on? Your
ship to come in? David said, my expectation is
of the Lord. He said, I'm waiting on Him.
Salvation, he said, my salvation is of the Lord. I'm waiting on
Him, the God of my salvation. Only, He only is my hope, my
portion of my salvation, my hope, who I'm waiting for, who I'm
looking for, who I trust in, who I take refuge in, who I'm
looking to, who I'm listening to, who I'm bowing before and
following and heeding. Isaiah 30. Oh, the woe that Isaiah
and all the prophets. Folks, people accuse us of having
a message of dire judgment. Well, I don't see anything else
in the Scripture about this world. I don't see any goods going to
come up. I see nothing but woe in Scripture. All the prophets, Peter, the
apostle, said, seeing all these things shall melt with a fervent
heat, shall be dissolved. What should we have our minds
on? Isaiah 30, look at this in verses 1 through 3. You know
these verses. It says, Woe to the rebellious
children. He's talking about professing believers in chapter
1, you know. He said, saith the Lord, it take
counsel, but not of me. They're listening to somebody.
They're taking heed of somebody, but not me. They cover with a
covering, but it's not my righteousness, not my spirit. They're adding
sin to sin. They go down into Egypt and have
not asked at my mouth. To strengthen themselves in the
strength of Pharaoh, a trust in the shadow. Boy, why would
you trust in a shadow? That's foolish, isn't it? Trust
in the shadow of Egypt. It's just a shadow. It's here
for a little time. It's gone. The strength of Pharaoh
will be your shame. A trust in the shadow of Egypt,
your confusion. It says, look at verse 7, the
Egyptians' help is in vain. He's talking about the world,
the rulers of it, the people of it, the technology of it,
the government of it, the help of it. It's vain. It can't help
us. There's no purpose to it. And
so he said, I cried to the Lord, verse 7, so I cried concerning
this, their strength is to sit still. Sit still. In a minute, we're
going to look at who we're waiting on, how we're waiting, and where
we're waiting on Him. Their strength is to sit still.
What do you mean, sit still? What do you mean, Isaiah? I mean
come into the house of God. Come where you consult God. Consult Him. Seek Him. and His kingdom, His Spirit,
and His Word, and His wisdom, and sit still. It will still your soul. Trust
in Him. Look to Him. Pour out your heart
unto Him. He's the only Refuge. Not in
the world, not the rulers of this world, not the religion
of this world. It's corrupt. But in Him, and
Him only. God only. Hear Him only. Don't listen to anybody else.
You come. You sit. As Isaiah said, I'm
crying. Come. Sit. And open your ears to hear what
God's Word says, and you'll find rest for your soul. Their strength
is to sit still. Look at verse 15. Thus saith the Lord God, the
Holy One of Israel, in returning and rest. Returning where? To whom? Unto Him. Coming. To whom? Coming. And rest. Sit quietly. So you'll be saved
in quietness and confidence will be your strength before you get
help, your hope. Well, sad, the next line. They
would not. Too busy. No, we'll go here,
we'll go there. You know, David's day, 1000 B.C.,
just like ours, look at verses 9 and 10, Isaiah, his day, same. It's a rebellious people, lying
children. They won't hear the law of the Lord. They won't hear
the Word of God. It's, say to the seers, see not. The prophets,
prophesy not unto us right things. Speak unto us smooth things.
Prophesy to see. We don't want to hear the Word
of the Lord. We don't want to hear about this. Call it verse 11. Get out of the way.
Turn that side out of the path. What's that? That's the Word
of God. That's one way. Truth, life. Call it the Holy
One. We don't want to hear about this holy and just God. We don't
want to hear about us being sinners and God being holy and God angry. Don't tell us that. Tell us how
much He loves us and needs us and wants us. It's all going
to be just fine. Peace, peace. Whatever it is,
there is no faith. Jeremiah, I was going to have
you turn there, but don't. In chapter 23, Jeremiah lamented
over all the false prophets of his day. And he said, they're
telling everybody, God said this and God said that, and He didn't
say any such thing. He said, they're telling everybody
that hates God, That God loves you. And no evil
shall become of you. Peace, when there is no peace.
That's not what people need to hear. In our text, in Psalm 62, look
at this, Psalm 62, it says it's all going to come crashing down.
Religion? Society, they're all going to
come crashing down. And he said in verse 4, they
only consult, get together to cast God down from his excellency. They delight in lies. Prophesy
lies. Don't tell us what God's Word
really says. They bless with their mouth. Oh, bless you. The
Lord bless you. That's a popular day, isn't it? Blessings to you. Have a blessed day. Their mouth, they curse inwardly. Brother Stan, pause there as
we should. That's the way it is. Down in verse 9, look at this.
Verse 9, he says, he said, Surely men of low degree are vanity,
and men of high degree are a lie. Put them all in a balancer together,
lighter than vanity. There's nobody worth listening
to or hearing. They all together become unprofitable
scriptures. None call upon God. None. The
Lord looked down from heaven to see if there were any. He
said, there are none. I understand that. That's Romans
1 in it. It's Isaiah 1. In verse 10, he said, don't trust
in, it's just oppression is what it is. Our government, our society,
our religion and all that are vain and robbers. Robbers. Riches
increase and they do, except not your heart upon them. Well,
David, then what are we looking for?
What are we living for? What are you living for, David?
What are you hoping in? What are you waiting for? What's
your expectation? I can't see. Some of you are
hiding something out. This is important. I mean, time is short for all of us. David says, my soul, he's talking
to himself here, he's talking to us. My soul, oh my soul, he
said, my soul waiteth on God, from Him cometh my salvation.
Verse 2, He only is my rock, my salvation, my hiding place,
my defense. I get scared. David said, what
time? I'm afraid. He was surrounded by enemies. You know, we worry in this day
about terrorists and all that, but you don't know, we don't
know fear. We're not living in tents with
somebody out there in a sword and about ready to come in our
tent. We don't live like that. This particular nation, anyway,
doesn't know anything about that. A couple of planes fly into a
building. That's been 14, 15 years ago. Everybody's forgotten it. Not worried about that. David
lived in a time of great fear. He said, what times I'm afraid.
Well, you don't, David. I'll trust in thee. Not the government. Not himself. He was the king.
He said, you're my rock. You're
my defense. My salvation. I shall not be
greatly moved. I like that. I'll not be greatly
moved. I'm a little bit moved. I'm a little bit shaken. When
things do, they shake us, don't they? They worry us, they trouble
us, they do. But David said, I won't be greatly
moved, completely moved away. And he said, my expectation,
I love this, verse 5, my soul waits only. What are you waiting
on, David? What are you looking forward
to? If it's all just nothing but trouble in this life, Enemies
around us. Enemies from within us. And all
this stuff is going to perish. It's all vanity. Then what, David? What is your
heart set on? What are you looking forward
to? He said, God. Only God. Is that it? Yeah, he
said, Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And there's none on earth
I desire. My whole heart, my desire is
set on Him. I'm waiting on my God to save
me. This is what he's saying. Peter
said this in his message at Pentecost. Save yourselves from this untoward
generation. What's that mean? Wait on the
Lord. Come, sit, look, call, seek,
wait, trust, hope in the Lord. He's coming. Waiting on the Lord to save us
from this present evil world. Our Lord and our God came. Yes,
He did. Our God came to this earth and
He told us all we need to know. And we don't need to hear anybody
else. Do you know that? I don't know why. Well, I do
know why. People who don't know Him don't
listen to Him. God's people don't need to listen
to anybody else but Him. Do you hear me? I didn't say that. The Scriptures
did. Paul said, let God be true and every man a liar. Christ
said, I am the truth. I can't lie to you. Trust me. Trust me. He came, our Lord,
our God, our Creator. Well, who are we waiting on?
Three points. Who are we waiting on? Who are we waiting on? How are we waiting? That is,
what we're doing, why we're waiting, and where we're waiting on Him. Alright, who are we waiting on?
David said, my expectation, my hope, who I'm waiting on, who
is my salvation, is God. The Lord my God. God, our Creator.
God, the world scoffs at it, and we believe there is a God.
Who is it? God's not in all their
thoughts. It's a godless world. There's
a few. Why do they believe? Why do you
believe? God revealed Himself to you. God, our Creator. The world scoffs at this, mocks
at this while they're eating His food, drinking His water,
clothed with His clothing, under His care. The whole world is
under His care. Tender mercies of God over all
His works. He feeds them all. What they
receive is from Him. And all the while they're cussing
Him. It ain't going to last, is it?
Would you? Would it last with you? Would
you feed a barking dog, a biting dog forever? Neither will God. God, the sovereign ruler and
judge and owner, the Creator. God, our Creator, who owns us,
has a right to do with His own what He will. That's God. The
world says, nope, don't believe Him. But I do. Don't you? He's my Creator. He's blinded. They're mine. Teresa,
don't you see Him everywhere? From your waking day unto day,
day unto day, night unto night. Don't you see His hand and everything?
In your life? My God, He's my God. He's my
God. Look at verse 11 and 12. God's
spoken once, yea, twice have I heard this. In another place
He said, God's spoken once, twice, but men perceive it not. God
wrote a book. Well, creation clearly reveals. God wrote a book twice. Man perceived
it not. And then He came down here. The
Word made flesh. The Word of God. Living Word
came and walked this earth. I am the truth who God is. God is. Look at me. And He came
here. But they rejected Him. But God,
rich in mercy, that same God and Creator whom men scoffed
and mocked at, who I did, I did, went the longest time. But God, with great love, wherewith
He loved some of these creatures sent, His only begotten Son into
this earth, onto this planet, chose to save some from what? What did He choose to save them
from? His own wrath. His own wrath from their own
destruction. from death, from hell, and sin.
He's going to ball it all up someday and cast it into heaven.
It's the second day. We chose some, yea, many, to
save them from this second day. Save them from sin, the consequences
of it. God did this through His Son. God was manifest in the
flesh. God became a man to do what? Save His people. He said,
I have come that they might have life. He said, I have come to
save His people from their sins. Oh, preacher, that's old-fashioned
hogwash. That's my hope. So we're going to find out about
it. Oh, our God came to deliver us
from the curse of the law, deliver us from His own wrath, deliver
us from sin and death and hell. He was made a curse. He was made
suffering the wrath of God. He was made sin for us who knew
no sin. He died on that cross under the
hell of wrath and judgment and anger of God. That's God. That's
the God of the Bible. His own Son. He had to hang Him
on the cross and make Him to be sin. That's the God of the
Bible. Holy. By no means clear of the
guilty. And He laid on him the guilt
and the sin and the iniquity of all of God's people. And He
killed him. He slew him. That's the God of
the Bible. God was made flesh and dwelt
among us. And He promised this from the
beginning in the Scripture. God, from the beginning, the
first man and woman, the first sinner, He said, the woman's
seed is coming. A woman, see, almost preached
from Luke 24 this morning, maybe next Sunday, Lord willing, on
how the Lord preached from the beginning in Moses and in the
prophets and the psalm preached Himself. But our Lord from the
beginning came to the very first sinners so merciful. Adam and Eve. And he said, the
woman's seed. I'm sending someone born of a
woman, made under the law, to redeem you from this curse. And
he showed them then, John. He took a lamb. shed His precious
blood, and skinned that animal, clothed their nakedness, their
shivering, and He warmed them and comforted them, maybe hugged
them and said, now, you just go on out there. My son's coming. My son's coming. Oh, my. And Isaiah said it. One of my favorite verses. Isaiah
25 and 9 says, It shall be said in that day, when He come, it
will be said in that day, Lo, this is our God. We've waited
for Him. He'll save us. He'll save us. David, who is your God? He's
Christ. He's the Messiah. He's the Holy
One of Israel whom God is going to come. And Job, who's your
God? Well, I know He lives. He's my
Redeemer, and I'm going to see Him. He'll save us. Isaiah said, this
is the Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ. We've waited for Him. He'll save
us. We'll be glad and rejoice in
His salvation. David did. He said, He's my rock.
He's my salvation. He's my defense. He's my refuge. He's all my salvation. He's all
my hope. He's all my desire. He's all
my hope. He's all. He's all of that. I believe, I trust, I hope in
the Lord and Him only. I wait on Him. I'm waiting on
Him. Alright? Who are we waiting on? Ask yourself. What or who are
you waiting on? Who or what are you waiting on? David said, I'm waiting on God.
I'm waiting on God to come back. Christ, waiting on Him. He wrote
another psalm and said, now Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is
in Thee. I'm waiting on You to come back,
to save me, to come. David, the Lord hadn't come yet. He did talk to him. The Lord
came to him and talked to him, but he hadn't come to this earth
yet. But he did. He came. The Lord Jesus Christ, the one
that all the Old Testament saints were looking forward to, He came.
The apostles said, He's here. He's here, the one we've been
waiting on. The one David spoke. They went out preaching then.
He's here, the one of whom David spoke. God, our salvation, our
rock. Our cave, our cliff to the rock,
our high place, our refuge, our fortress, our defense, our Savior,
our hope, our salvation, our righteousness, our wisdom, our
sanctification, our all. He's here. He's here. And He
came. He came. You know what? We're waiting on God's people,
waiting on Him to come back. Waiting on Him to come back.
And we're waiting on a word from Him. We come, we sit, and we
wait. That's why I hope you come here. I believe you do. I hope I come
here for that reason. We come, we sit, we're waiting
on a word from our Lord. David would go and sit in the
tabernacle of the outer court. And he'd sit there. Remember
that when he came and he sat before God? Remember that? Sat before God. What are you
doing, David? I'm worshiping. Waiting on the
Lord. Waiting on the Word of God. I'm
waiting on Nathan to get up and pray. Waiting on a word from
the Lord. Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. I've got enemies all around me.
I've got an enemy within me. Trouble without. Trouble within.
I come and I want it. Tell me you're my salvation,
my rock, my defense, my hope. Tell me that. Cornelius. I love
the story of Cornelius. Acts 10. The Lord, when He did speak to
men in dreams, He spoke to him. The Lord Jesus Christ spoke to
Cornelius. He was a centurion, a Roman soldier. And the Lord said, I'm going
to send a preacher to you. And so Cornelius got his whole
house together in his house. And what were they doing? Waiting.
Waiting. Praying. Waiting. Waiting on
the Lord. Waiting on what? A word from
the Lord. And buddy, he came. Who? An old fisherman named Simon. It says when he came in that
room, John, that Cornelius fell down at his feet. He was so glad
to see this man. He fell at his feet and would
have worshipped him. He said, get up, get up. I'm
just a man like you. Don't do that. Oh, Cornelius said, we're all
here. We're all here. What are you doing? Cornelius,
we're waiting on the Lord's Word. Would you tell us what the Lord
has to say? We've been waiting on you. Waiting on a Word from
the Lord. We're waiting. What are you waiting
on, David? It's time to act. No, no, no.
Don't do that without waiting on the Lord. We're waiting on
His will to be known. He makes it known, you know.
He's written it down. Wait on the Lord. Wait for a
word from Him. Wait on His will to be known. He's written it
down right here. His revealed will. If you can't
find it, don't do anything. Wait until you do. Don't make a move. Don't make
a move. Whether you eat or drink, whatever
it is, don't do it. Wait on His will to be known.
Wait on Him to show you. what He would have you do, and
then do what He says. And do it. And be well with you. His providence. We wait on His
providence. What are you waiting on? We're
waiting on His providence. Psalm 104, the whole long psalm,
talks about how God feeds everyone and everything. Everyone and
everything. Young lions. They don't feed
themselves. God does. Little birds. The sparrow. God feeds the sparrows,
the starlings. You don't believe that. Oh, yes,
I do. They all wait on the Lord. That's
what Psalm 104, verse 27, these all wait on Thee. What are you waiting on? The Lord to provide. The Lord
to provide. Wait means, look at verse 1,
it says, my soul waiteth. Do you have a marginal reference
to what it says about waiting? It says, silent to. See that? That's what Psalm 27
says. Wait, I say unto the Lord, means
be silent to. The Lord reigns and rules in
the armies of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth. He's
doing what He will with whom He will, because He will, according
to His will, according to His infinite wisdom and purpose. It's ordered in all things. It's
all ordered. It's all been predestined. He
knows what He's doing. It's all working together according
to His will. And things good and things bad. And things bad happen to us. Why, Lord? David said this. Why? Why? Didn't he? You read the psalm. Lord, I don't
understand. Well, just wait. This is a good
word here. Lord, I don't understand why
this is happening. Wait. Judge nothing before the
time. He said, wait, you'll see. That's
what Psalm 27 says. Wait. He said, you'll faint,
you'll perish if you don't believe to see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. Wait, I say. Wait. You'll see. Proverbs 37 says, wait, you'll
see. You're going to see. It was all good. It's hard to
wait in. Do you know how much the Scriptures
tell His people to wait? Wait. Old Rahab, those fellows
came and promised her, promised her, you and your house, under
the blood, our life for yours. We're coming back. Joshua's coming
for you. You just have to wait. They never
told her when. So they left. And it was weeks,
maybe months. Oh, waiting's hard, isn't it? This is why David said in Psalm
130, he said, My soul waiteth for Thee more than they that
watch for the morning. I say more than they that watch
for the morning. That's why he said so often,
How long, Lord? How long? You know that? Come back. Come quickly. People don't know the Lord, don't
want Him to come. They didn't care that He came
the first time. They don't want Him to come again. They're not
ready to live here. God's people are. How long? David said, how
long? He says, wait. Wait. We've got to wait on His return. We're waiting on His return like
a servant waiting on his master. Servant, waiting on his master. His master's gone. He's serving
his cause while he's gone. He's just waiting on him to return.
He's not happy. He's not fully content until
his master returns. Like a child, his father. Like
a wife, her husband. Waiting. Like a liberated people
waiting on their liberator. Or like a captive people waiting
on their Liberator. Waiting, waiting. What are we
waiting on? What are you waiting on, David?
What are you waiting on, Job? Listen to this. What are you
waiting on, Job? You've lost everything. Now what's
the use in living? He said, because I know my Redeemer
living. And he said, he's going to call and I'm going to answer
him. He'll have a desire for the work of his hands. He says
in Job 14, he says, all the days of my appointed time will I wait. My appointed time. Everything's
appointed. Good? Man. Prosperity, adversity. We receive
these things to the end and we find nothing here. It's tough
though, isn't it? Oh, it's tough. It's hard. It's
hard. We're like little children. Don't
take this from me. Wait. David and Job said, all
the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change. I'm waiting on my change. Waiting
on the change. You know, all creation waits.
The whole creation groaneth, waiting on the manifestation
of the sons of God. How do we wait? What are we doing
while we're waiting? How do we wait? Watching and
praying. Looking above. We sang that song. Filled with His goodness. Lost
in His love. This is my story. This is my
song. Waiting. Waiting. Watching and waiting. It's like
waiting on someone you love to come, you know. And you're not
silent when that happens. In this sense, you're not silent.
In that respect, you're calling on Him. You're calling on her.
We were hoping that little Sophie could come see us on Thursday,
but she got sick. Bad sick. Fever of 105.3, you
know. That's scary. And just this morning
it really broke, but we were hoping she'd come. Waiting on
her. Love her dearly. Don't get to
see her very often, so we were hoping and waiting, but she got
sick. Lord, don't see her once every
three months. Why? Maybe so I can use this
illustration. At any rate, when you're waiting
on someone you love, you call on them, you check on them. We
kept calling. Now, we're waiting on you. She'd
call us, wouldn't you? I'm coming. We're calling on the Lord, aren't
we? Oh, we're waiting. Calling on the Lord. This is
why Peter said, hasten his coming. You meet together. 2 Peter 3
says this, it says, seeing that all these things shall be dissolved,
what manner of men we ought to be in all holy conversation,
that is, thinking about things above, our affection set on things
above, our conversation on the one who is coming. I've been
talking about that. We've been preparing for her
coming. What if she didn't come? Well, Christ is. He doesn't lie. He's coming. He says, looking for and hastening
unto the coming the day of God. The more you think about Him,
the more you talk about Him, the more you talk to Him, the
more you call on Him, the nearer His coming appears to you. The
nearer it comes. He's coming for us. People, He's
coming for us. If He doesn't come for all of
us at the same time, He's coming for each of us at our appointed
time. And some of you, it's real close.
Some of us said, it might be me. I could be selfish and want
it to be, but no, Dad, he needs to go first. But do you want
him to come for you? David, what are you waiting on?
God! Can you say that? If you love
him, you do. You wait on him. Someone you
love. So you call on him. You seek him. You prepare for
his coming. Somebody you love. Somebody you
look forward to. You think on. Talk about Him.
Talk to Him. Talk to those that know Him.
Waiting on the Lord. Waiting on Him to come. You don't
believe that, do you? That's what the world scoffs and mocks.
Where is the promise of His coming? Oh, it's right here. All things
continue like this. Yes, they do, according to His
mercy. Thank God that things continue just exactly like He
said they would. Harvest in springtime and harvest
in goodness. Oh, the goodness of God is so
good. Maybe, hopefully, He's got some more elect. Maybe it's
my granddaughter. Maybe it's my spouse that doesn't
know Him. Maybe it's my husband or wife
or my father or mother. He's so good. He's so merciful.
I'm waiting on Him to be gracious. He hasn't come back yet. He must
have some more elects, some more sheep to bring. Good. Good. I'm
waiting on Him to save them. Waiting on the Lord. How do you
wait? You call. You watch. You look.
Look. Looking unto Jesus. Looking.
I can't see Him. Oh, yeah, you can. Can't you
see Him? In His Word? In His creation? Are there clouds out there? When
you walk outside, you see some clouds. Do you know what those
are? The dust of His feet. Oh, I don't believe it. I do. Don't you? You hear the thunder? That's His voice. The God of heaven, glorious plunderer. What's He saying? I've glorified
it and I'll glorify it again. I'm coming. I hear Him. I see Him. Don't you? I'm waiting. Longing. Longing for Him. My
soul waiteth on Thee more than they that watch for them. Where
do you do this? Where do you wait? And I close with it. Where
do you do this waiting? Where can He be found? Where
can He be heard? Where can you be sure to hear
from Him? At His feet. At His feet. at
his feet. Naomi told Ruth, she said, what
shall I seek for you, my daughter? Mansions? No, you're going to
have one. Boaz is going to give you one. But not that. No, no, no. Rest. Shall I not seek rest for you,
my daughter? Naomi said to her. She said, I'll tell you what
to do. Ruth, darling, said he went with tonight, he went with
at his threshing floor. He's got a threshing floor. where
the wheat is separated from the chaff, where the separating is
done, where the fruit is found, where He threshes His people.
That's where His people are. That's where His laborers are.
His servants are threshing the threshing floor. She said, you
get down to where He is and you lie down at His feet and don't
make a move and you wait until He says something to you. She
says, you just wait, Ruth, wait on Him to speak. Don't make yourself
known. You're not there to be known.
You're near to know Him. And you wait and you'll hear
from Him because that man won't rest until he does what he needs
to do for you. I want rest for you. Go down
and lie at His feet on the threshing floor. Where's that? That's the
church. Oh, the priest is just trying
to get us to come to church. Yes, I am. Yes, I am, because that's
where Christ speaks in His people. That's where He speaks, where
two or three are gathered in My name. Always. You come hungry,
He said, you'll go away filled. You come thirsty, you'll go away
with the water of life. You come needy, you'll go away
rich. That's what He said. You can't
lie. What are you waiting on, Cornelius? For God to speak to me. Okay. And he did! And he did. I want to see the Lord. You'll
see Him at His threshing floor, His church. Oh, here across the
page, Psalm 63 says in verse 1 and 2, O God, my God, early will
I seek Thee, my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for
Thee in a dry and thirsty land where no water is, to see Thy
power and Thy glory. Where, David? In the sanctuary. And then he goes on down to say,
Oh, blessed, how blessed in chapter 65, verse 1, praise waits for
thee, waiting for thee, O God, in Zion. Oh, blessed is the man
whom thou choosest and causes to approach unto thee, that he
may dwell in thy courts. Be satisfied with the goodness
of thy house. This is a place that He set aside
to put His name there where He makes all His goodness pass before
us and proclaims the name of the Lord, the Lord, the Lord
God, merciful, gracious. This is it, the threshing floor. This is where we come and wait.
He told the disciples, you go before Me in the Galilee. Go before me and I'll come. You
go and you get together in Galilee and I'll come. Did he? The door was shut. There he was. There he was. And how we wait
is like those about ready to leave Egypt with their loins
girt. Your loins girt. When you go
out of here, you're going to need your loins girted with truth.
Shoes on your feet. I'm preaching a gospel that will
make you well shod, enable you to walk by faith. Because if
you just stub your toe, it gives you great grief. And with your staff in your hand,
And you know what he said to those people at Exus 12? What
did he say to them? He said, we're going out tonight. Tonight. Wait. Wait, I said. Okay. Let's sing number 163 and close
it. Number 163. I indebted to Sister Sherry for
this. I said, would you come up with
some hymns that talk about waiting? And she gave us all of them.
And this one in particular, it says, silently now, I wait for
thee. Ready, my God. Alright, let's
stand and sing. First, we'll sing all of them.
