Now as on Jesus we fall, showers
of blessing, showers of blessing we need. Mercy drops round us
are falling, the fullest showers we need. All right, back to Psalm
19 now. As we stated before, the writer
of this psalm is David, whom God said was a man after
his own heart. That's what God said of David. And he communed with his God. Communed. Communicated. Dwelled. Walked with his God. It's obvious
throughout the song. Do you know the chief way in
which he communed with his God? It's the chief way that we do.
Really, the only way you do. And that's through the reading
and studying of his Word. We think of David as having some
special revelation from God. David never heard a voice. God
quit speaking audibly a long time. David heard God speak this way.
How did David speak to God? Same way we do, prayed. He prayed
to his God. He obviously spent a great deal
of time out of doors. David did. We saw that Sunday
morning. He studied the creation. He wrote
a lot about the creation throughout the psalm. But to be sure, he
studied this book. Now, he didn't have all that
we have. And so that makes what Peter
said even more certain. Peter said we have a
more sure word of prophecy. We have more than David had.
David delighted in the five books of Moses. What else he had, we
don't know. But he might not have had all
five of those books. I don't know. But he had something
of God's Word, but not as much as we have. And he delighted
in it. And he said it's perfect. If
that's perfect, a part of it, what about the whole? And he
studied this word, and all through the Psalms he speaks of it. We
studied Psalm 119 once before, and that speaks of the Word of
God from start to finish. If you want to be a man or a
woman after God's own heart, would you like to be, Barbara,
a woman after God's own heart? You want to know the heart of
God? You want to know something about God? Would you like to have the faith
of David? Would you like to have David's
faith? No secret. David didn't have
any special revelation. The Word of God. You just got
a new one, Margaret. Break it in. Curl those pages. Read and study. How many times have we quoted
this verse from Romans 10? Faith cometh. Can you quote the
rest of it? By hearing. And hearing by what? The Word of God. No secret. No secret revelation from God.
except as he reveals the secrets from this book. All right? OK,
now let's look at it. This is the second part of this
psalm. This is the second book that
David studied, the book of creation, the book of nature. And in God's
Word, verse 7, he says, The law of the Lord is perfect. The law
is perfect, God's word. Any time it says law in the word,
it means the whole book, Stephen. Any time it says law, that means
whatever God says is law, right? It's not an option. It's not
a suggestion. It's law, isn't it? God's word,
it's law. Whatever he says is law. So in
that sense, Stan, We need to be careful what we say about
the law, don't we? Whatever God says now is the
law. But the law of the Lord is perfect. Isn't this book? It's perfect. It is infallible. It is an error. Men and women
have tried to cast doubt upon it. for years. They're doing more, doing it
more so now than ever, aren't they? They're making disparaging
remarks about it. There was a letter to the editor
in Sunday, was it Sunday? I'm not sure what day it was,
Sunday or Monday, a letter to the editor by some obviously
agnostic fellow or maybe atheistic, I don't know. I really don't
think there is such a thing as an At any rate, this fellow,
he took, he was blasting the scriptures and trying to show discrepancies,
trying to show inconsistencies or contradictions and so forth. It upset me the way he talked.
It didn't upset me the way he was saying, because he's obviously
ignorant. But men have been trying to discredit this book for years. And all who have are dead, and
all who continue to do so will die. You remember what Christ
said? Heaven and earth will pass away.
My word won't. Because he said, David said this,
forever, O Lord, is thy word settled in heaven. It's settled. No matter what men say about
it, no matter how men try to discredit it, no matter how they
try to disprove it, It just goes right on. It's perfect. It's inerrant. And just because
men see some, what they think are discrepancies, just put that
down to their ignorance. Right? We saw that, you ladies
that were in the back, we saw that, didn't we? Some scriptures
that we take for face value, that we think it means this in
comparison if we study, and rightly divided. We'll see. All right,
the law. Do you have a marginal reference?
That's the good thing about that new Bible you got, Margaret. And all of you who
have a Cambridge Bible, they have very good center references. And it says here that the law,
what does your margin say? The law, what does it say law
mean? Say it. OK. I'm hard of hearing.
Would you speak up? The doctrine. The doctrine of
the Lord. The doctrine of teaching. That's
what doctrine means. Teaching. I had a fellow ignorantly
say this one time. This was on the railroad, Steve.
When they had that little Friday meeting I was talking about.
one of our fellows was going to go speak at it. And this fellow,
the closer it got to that time, the more this fellow, he asked,
one of the fellows that was in charge of that meeting came up
to me and asked me to provide somebody. So I did. I wasn't
preaching at the time. But I got the strongest preacher
I could. And the closer it got to Friday,
the more that fellow, he was getting antsy. He knew what we
believed and preached somewhat. And he came up to me, I think
it was Friday or Thursday, and he said, now, he said, now, he
said, now, we've got all kind of denominations coming in here.
Methodists, Baptists, and so forth. He said, now, tell this
fellow, he said, tell him, don't preach doctrine. Don't preach
doctrine, just preach Jesus. Don't preach doctrine. Well, I didn't know much, but
I said, I think I said to him, I said, we might as well throw
this book away then. Tell him not to preach this book. The
whole book is doctrine. Teaching, that's what doctrine
means, teaching. That's what it means. And if you don't preach doctrine,
you probably got the wrong Jesus, don't you? That's what John said,
if any man transgress and abide not in the doctrine of Christ,
he's not a he. Well, the doctrine, the teaching,
is perfect. It's perfect. Perfect. Perfecting. You know, doctrine, teaching,
law, word, that's what it means. The word is perfect. God's word
is his power. It perfects us. It converts us. That's what the next thing says.
Converting the soul. Converting the soul. What does your margin say about
that, converting the soul? Anybody? Restoring the soul,
OK? Restoring the soul, all right?
Here it is, the doctrine of the Lord, the teaching of the Lord
God. This is what he teaches us, that
convergence, all right? He teaches us who he is. God teaches, the doctrine of
our sovereign God, the doctrine of the holiness of God, the doctrine
of the justice of, the doctrine of the Lord teaches us, the word
of the Lord teaches us who God is, the word of the Lord teaches
us what man is. Apart from this, we won't know.
We don't know who God is, we don't know who we are. We think,
we would, apart from this, we would think much less of God
than we, than he is. That's what men do to Lay aside the scripture, there's
a scripture that says, teaching, God said in Isaiah, he said,
how did he put it? The fear of the Lord
is taught by the precept of man. The fear of the Lord, their fear
of me, he said, is taught by the precept of man. In other
words, the way men think he is. Apart from this, Nancy, they
don't know how God is, right? And the more you study this,
the more he teaches you the doctrine of who he is. The more you see
who he is, what man he is, men don't know what they are apart
from this, do they, Stan? No, they don't. It's obvious,
don't they? And who Christ is. This is the doctrine of the Lord
that teaches us and that converts us, converts the soul, restores
the soul. When a man or a woman or a young
person comes to know God, then this is salvation, to know God
and Jesus Christ. When a man, a woman, or a young
person comes to know God, is taught who God is, who they are,
who Christ is, their need of Him, and come to Christ, the
soul is restored back to its rightful place. back to the God
who owns it. And that's through faith in Christ.
All right, God's Word is perfect. Restoring the soul. Converting
the soul. Read on. The testimony of the
Lord is sure. Making wise the simple. The testimony
of the Lord. Look over at John chapter 3 with
me. Quickly. John chapter 3. I've got to get
through this. preach from on thirty seven Sunday
morning. John chapter three a testimony
you know if any of you ever given testimony. In a court of law. Anybody in here to testify. All
right a testimony testimony you gave you a testimony is a witness
or is a testimony of a sworn statement is what it is sworn
statement made by a witness in a court of law. That's what a
testimony is. A sworn statement made by a witness or somebody
who's seen something, experienced something in a court of law.
Do you swear? Sworn statement. Do you testify?
This witness is going to testify. I solemnly swear to tell the
truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth. Look at this.
John 3. testimony of the Lord is sure. Look at John 3 verse 31. He that cometh from above is
above all. He that is of the earth is earthly,
and speaketh of the earth. He that cometh from heaven is
above all. And what he hath seen and heard
that he testifieth. And no man receiveth his testimony. Except up there, John said in
verse 27, a man can receive nothing except it be given him. And so Christ came bearing testimony
of something. And it says here, they didn't
receive it. Well, verse 33, he that hath received his testimony,
Christ's testimony, hath set to his seal, that Christ's seal,
that God is true. All right, testimony of the Lord.
What is it? The testimony of the Lord. It's
sure, the testimony we saw in Psalm 2, didn't we? This is the
testimony of God the Father. I'd love to dive right back in
there again. Psalm 2, I have declared the
decree. God's testimony concerning his
son. This is my son. God's testimony. I've set my
king on my holy hill of Zion. That's sure. He's seated. That's sure. That's the testimony
of God concerning his son. He's king. He's Lord. He said
kiss him lest he be angry. Bow. Fear. He's on the throne. I've put
all authority in his hands. That's God's testimony. It's
sure. It sure is. Christ's testimony. The Lord
Christ, when he came, he bore witness, he bore testimony to
himself. He said, if I bear witness of
myself, it's true. It's sure. He said, I'm the way. I'm the truth. I'm the life. No man cometh unto the Father
but by me. That's sure. Barely, barely. I say unto you, he said, heaven
and earth will pass away. My word will pass away. Sure,
what Christ said concerning himself, the Spirit, what the Spirit says
concerning Christ, it says he won't speak of himself. He's
a witness. He bears testimony of Christ,
and it's sure. The gospel concerning God's son. The testimony of God, the father,
the testimony of the son, the testimony of the spirit, is all
concerning the word of Christ. The gospel. The gospel. The word
of your salvation. The person of your salvation.
And it's sure, the gospel which testifies of Christ is sure,
is certain. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 1,
it's yea and amen. Sure. As sure as God is on the throne,
Christ is the only way, and a sure way, and I sure am glad. All right, read on. It says he
makes wise the simple. The testimony of the Lord, the
gospel concerning Christ's Son, makes wise the simple. Now, you may not have had much
education like me. You ever, I'm sure everyone's
heard that old saying, it's not what you know, it's who. Well, that's right. That's exactly
right. Now, they didn't mean it like
I mean it. They meant that by, if you have connections, if you
have contacts, if you have somebody pulling. Well, that's true. If
you got somebody on the inside pulling for you, it doesn't matter
what you know. It's who you know. Right? I don't, you don't, may not have
very much worldly wisdom. That's all right. It's passing
away. It's, God calls it foolishness anyway. None. It's worldly wisdom. Educated
fools, they call them. Well, forgive me. You have a
lot of education. I'm sure you're, well, I'm sorry. The wisdom that's from above,
though. The Scripture says the wisdom that's from above doesn't
fade away. And he says it makes wise the
simple. This wisdom that's from above. makes wise the simple. Simple common believer is wiser
than the princes and rulers of this world. Yes, God has hid
these things from the wise in prison and revealed them unto
me. The wisdom. We speak wisdom,
but not like the world speaks. But the wisdom of God. All right,
read on. Verse 8. The statutes of the Lord are
right. The statutes of the lower statutes
here means appointments, decree statute, you know, you notice.
That each verse has a different. Description. Of the law, the
testimony, the statutes, commandment, so forth. We looked at that in
Psalm 119, didn't we? Well, the statutes here means
appointments, decrees They decrees the appointments of the Lord
are right. I like what Moses said, shall not the judge of
the earth do right? Yes, he will. In every instance,
in every circumstance, he will do right. Every single time. Yeah, but you don't know what
happened to him. I know who made it happen. And
it's right. It's right. He will do right.
He has decreed everything. He has decreed everything. He
decreed Christ to be Lord. That's right. He earned a right. He decreed his people to be saved. That's all right by me. He decreed
all things concerning them. David said Oh, God's covenant
concerning me is ordered in all things, and sure, and this is
all my salvation. They all work together for good
to them that love God. All that God does is right, and
he'll do right by his people. He'll do right. Statutes of decrees
of judgment or the appointments of the Lord are right. I'm sure
glad. Rejoicing the heart. Rejoice
in the heart and make you rejoice. That's what David said. This
is all my salvation. It rejoices my heart that God
is in control and he has ordered all things concerning me and
he will do right. He can't do wrong. That rejoices
my heart. Read on. The commandment of the
Lord is pure. The commandment of the Lord is
pure, enlightening the eye. Quickly, 2 Peter chapter 1. 2
Peter 1. Turn over there. 2 Peter chapter 1. The commandment
of the Lord is pure. Now, the commandment of the Lord. What is the commandment? It doesn't
say commandments. once again saying that this is
no book is not an option is it's not a suggestion is it's not. In the sense that we say advice
or counsel is it. It's a command everything God
says Nancy is not is a command. So he he loves the whole thing
is as a commandment wherever he says do it. What Mary said didn't 2 Peter
1, the commandment of the Lord is to repent, the commandment
of the Lord is to believe, the commandment of the Lord is to
come. Look at 2 Peter chapter 1, I'm
sorry, 1 Peter chapter 1, 1 Peter 1. The commandment of the Lord is
pure. 1 Peter 1.22, seeing you have purified your souls in obeying
the truth through the Spirit, an unfeigned love. It all goes
hand in hand. God commands men to repent, all
right? We won't repent until he gives
the command. God commands us to believe his
son, to come to his son. We won't do it unless he commands
us. I'm so glad that salvation is by sovereign command. Aren't
you? I'm so glad that salvation is
by sovereign command. Aren't you? Now I see some recognition. Maybe I need to say every statement
twice. Our Lord did, barely, barely. I'm so glad, three times, that
salvation is by sovereign command. What's the psalm, John? He said,
He hath given commandment to save us. We won't be saved unless
God one day Barbara Ross, unless God had one day said, Barbara,
hear, you wouldn't have heard. Barbara, repent, you wouldn't
have repented. Barbara, bow, you wouldn't have
bowed. Barbara, believe, you wouldn't
have believed. Barbara, come, you wouldn't have
come. Would you? It's a commandment. Aren't you glad? Commandment
of the Lord is pure. He said, so Peter said, seeing
you have purified your souls in obeying the truth, obeying
the commandment." How? Through the Spirit. Through that
commandment. He gave the command. The Holy
Spirit sent the command, said, fetch Stan Anderson. He's going
to hear, he's going to believe, he's going to come. Aren't you
glad? Salvation is by sovereign command. All right, read on. Enlightening the eyes. Lamb of
the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. God said, I'm going
to do a work. Men won't believe it if you tell
them. The blind will receive their
sight. The blind enlightening the eyes. The blind will receive their
sight. I don't know about you. Well, I do. Everyone in here
was a fool, an out and out fool. before you heard and believed
the gospel, weren't you? Dead in trespass and sin. Blind,
blind to God and who God is, blind to what you were, blind
to the gospel, weren't you? What a blind, blind as a bat. I was blinder than that. Bats
aren't altogether blind. They come to the light. Blind,
oh how blind and foolish I was, till God gave the command. to
enlighten my eyes." Open his eyes. Open his eyes. And when
your eye is single, the whole body is full of light. Did you
notice the progression of salvation there? Very quickly, verses 7
and 8. The law of the Lord is perfect. Conversion. Conversion. Converting the soul. Testimony
of the Lord is sure. Making wise. Wisdom. Conversion. Verse eight, statutes of the
Lord are right, rejoicing, conversion, converting, making wise, rejoicing,
enlightening the eyes. These are all the things that
the gospel gives to a dead, dark, foolish heart. All right, verse
nine. The fear of the Lord is clean.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. Now, the fear
of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Right? But you never quit fearing
the Lord. It endures forever. Right? It endures forever. One never
ceases to fear Him. And therefore, it says here,
it's clean. It's clean. That is, it is a
restraint to sin. You got that? The fear of the
Lord is a restraint to sin. It should be. One truly fears. If we're truly
conscious of the holy and just God before whose eyes we are, if we're truly conscious of the
loving and merciful Heavenly Father, if we're truly conscious
of the price that Christ paid to remit our sin, that ought
to make us want to be rid of sin. Listen to this quote by
John Bunyan in his book Holy War. And once again, not many
books I recommend for you to read other than this one. If
you're going to read one, this is one of them worth reading.
Pilgrim's Progress, Holy War, not many more than that. Bunyan
wrote this in that classic book, a wonderful book, that book which
was about the conquest of the town of Mansoul. Mansoul, the
conquest, all right? Mansoul was taken captive by
Diabolus. who's a type who's a devil, all
right? Captive at his will. That's what
Peter, what 2 Timothy said, all right? Immanuel had to come take the town back,
Mansoul, OK? And once he did, he set up in
the town, once Immanuel took back possession of his town.
He set up in the town different men to rule over that town, and
one of them was named Mr. Godly Fear. One of the fellows that Emmanuel
put in this town, one of the princes, was Mr. Godly Fear. Now listen to what he says about
Mr. Godly Fear. Now Mr. Godly Fear went in this
town and says he's not satisfied. Mr. Godly fear is not satisfied
till every street, every lane, every alley, yea, every house,
and every corner of the town of Mansoul is cleansed of the
Diabolonians who lurk there." They're in nook and crannies,
and Mr. Godly fear says, we've got to get them out of here. Do you understand that? Fear
of the Lord is clean. And this is what, that's what
David prays for in the latter part of this psalm, doesn't he?
Oh, keep me back from secret. All right, I've got to get to
that. Stan, I've got to get to that.
Verse 9, get down there. Verse 9, the fear of the Lord
is clean, enduring forever. His judgments, the judgments
of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. That's God's dealings
with men. That's God's pronouncements.
That's God's sentences. Whatever God passes, what sentence
he passes upon men, they're right. It's according to truth and righteous. Right? If God sends you to hell,
he'll be right. It'll be true judgment. Now,
wait a minute. If he sends you to heaven, you'll
be right. You're righteous. Right? God sends you to hell because
you're unrighteous. He judges true judgment and righteous
altogether. It's altogether based on truth
and righteousness. That's Christ, isn't it? All
right. Hell, that I might win Christ
and be found in him, not having my own righteousness. All right,
look at verse 10. More to be desired. Now, all
of these things are more to be desired. The law, the testimony,
the statutes, commandment to fear, judgments of the Lord are
more to be desired, verse 10, more to be desired today than
gold, yea, than much fine gold. Does the gospel glitter to you? Huh? It does to some of you because
I see a glitter in your eye. I see a gleam in your eye when
it's That's how I know what this most of the time, I know somebody
really believes this gospel. They've got a gleam in their
eye. You can't look into the sun without having a little spark
in your eye, can you? Can't do it. Those who have,
you see it in their eye. It says here, sweeter than honey
and the honeycomb. Is the gospel sweet to you? Is
it a sweet savor to you? Is it sweet to your taste? More
than honey? Why do you say the honeycomb?
My dad loves the honeycomb. Whenever they bought honey, they
always bought it with a comb in it. Well, I don't like the
honeycomb. I don't like the honeycomb. I've
tried it before. You chew it and chew it and chew
it and it never goes away. But I like that illustration. The gospel will stick with you.
You can chew on it, and chew on it, and keep getting sweetness
out of it. The more you chew on it, the
more you get out of it. Right? Sweeter than the honeycomb. Read on. Verse 11. Moreover,
by these things, the law, the testimony, the statutes, commandments,
fear of the Lord, judgment By these things, by them is thy
servant warned." I need a lot of that, don't you? My pastor said this, he said,
the scriptures are full of warnings, lest we presume. Wonder where he got that? Probably
Psalm 19. The Bible scripture, he says,
is full of warnings, lest we presume, but it's also full of
promises, lest we despair. I need lots of warning. I need to be warned constantly,
like a little child. Warn, warn, flee, flee from the
judgment to come, and so forth. Read on. It says, By and keeping
of them there is great reward. Christ said much about keeping
his word. What's the reward? We get Christ.
Christ is the reward for all that seek him. All right, here's
David's prayer. I know I'm hurrying through it,
but I have to if I want to finish. Now, that's the second book that
David studied, the book of God's word. Now, here's the prayer.
He says in verse twelve, kind of thinking out loud. Who can
understand this error? I need great warning. I need
much warning, don't I? Don't you? Because who can understand? We don't fully understand ourselves.
We don't understand just how subject we are. We're like, or
how in what danger we are, so to
speak. Do you remember that servant of Elijah that looked
out and saw all the armies of the enemies of the Lord, you
know, surrounding them? Well, there are many, many temptations
all around us. If the Lord would open our eyes
to see, it would scare us to death, wouldn't it? on all sides, but they that before us are more.
He that is before us is more than they that are against us,
greater than he that is against us. But who can understand? Who can understand? We don't
fully understand just how weak we are. We think we're weak. Well, we know we're weak. We
don't know how weak we are. Who can understand his errors?
We don't know how bad we are. Cleanse thou me from secret faults. Cleanse me from secret faults.
Secret faults, what does that mean? That means things about
myself, things that I don't know about myself. A secret false. Sins of omission. As well as
sins of commission. I commit. Many more sins than
I want to. I commit. One sin more than I
want to commit, but sins of commission. Those things I do are bad enough,
but he says. here cleanse me from omission,
things of omission, what I don't do that I ought to do. Got that? Sins of omission. What
I don't do that I ought to do. And what I do that I shouldn't
do. Cleanse thou me from secret things,
things I don't know about myself. And there are many secret sins,
secret They may be known to others as secret faults. They may be
glaring faults to others, but yet they're a secret to us. If
that's so, then we justify ourselves. We've made plain to others. Well, all right, it says in verse
13, Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sin. There's
a progression here also. Secret sin. What I'm prone to. Keep me from
that. What I'm prone to. That's what
our Lord said, lead us not into temptation. It's a good thing
that the Lord doesn't allow us to fall into more temptation
than he does, that we'd be a goner, wouldn't we? Somebody said, don't
look down on David. It may be that your Bathsheba
hadn't come along yet, or your David, women, your David hadn't
come along yet. So don't think too highly of
yourself. Keep back thy servant from presumptuous
sin. There's a progression here, a
digression. Secret things which lead to presumptuous
sins. What's presumptuous sin? Well,
when you presume something, what does that mean? You presume something. Say I presume that Nancy is going
to come over to my house tomorrow at noon. All right, I presume
that she might and she might not. That may be a poor illustration,
but it's to think something's going to happen when it might
not. To presume upon it. To take for granted is to presume. Presumptuous sin. All right? To presume upon God's mercy.
Presumptuous sins are willful sins, sins that you just continue
to do. So, well, He'll forgive me. And you know better. You keep
going, keep going, go ahead. I'm going to go ahead and do it. He'll
forgive me. Oh, my, my, my, my. That's presuming on His mercy. Just on and on we could go with
this. Presumptuous sins. presuming, taking for granted,
the mercy of God. Presuming that the gospel is
going to be here in this place from now on. Oh, well, God, you know, one
man leaves, another one will come. Is that right? I know some places, buddy, that
go on. Well, you can read as far as the scriptures here. Ephesus,
Philippi, Thyatira, Laodicea. Keep going. There's no church
there. Presumptuous sin. Let's presume
upon this God. Well, I didn't hear it today.
I'll hear it tomorrow. Oh, will you now? Presumptuous sin. Cleanse me.
Keep me. David says, You're going to have
to be the one to keep me from that. presumptuous sin. Let them not have dominion over
me. Read on. Let them not have dominion
over me. Secret thoughts, presumptuous
sins, and they do, don't they? They set in until you... We've all got in the rut that
you do. You just set in and you feel
like you're just getting deeper and deeper. We need to go to
Psalm 19 and say, Oh Lord, keep me back from these presumptuous
sins. Let them not have dominion over
me. Then shall I be upright. I shall be innocent," read on,
from the great transgression. What's that? That's apostasy. That's unbelief. That's leaving
the gospel. That's what there remains no
more sacrifice for. All right, secret sins. Presumptuous sin. Apostasy. That's what happened. We need
this, don't we, Nancy? Huh? You need this, Earlene?
This is our prayer. Then shall I be upright. Verse
14. David ends it, Let the words
of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in
thy sight, O Lord. You know, it's Scripture saying,
Our Lord said this. He said, By a man's words he'll
be justified or condemned. by man's word he'll be justified
or condemned. Because out of the abundance
of the heart the mouth speaketh. So let my words and the meditation
of my heart and out of the heart the issue of life be acceptable
in thy sight. O Lord, my strength, my rock,
my redeemer, look who he appeals to, his only hope. my rod, my
redeemer, my hiding place. Help me, help me. Keep me back."
How does he keep you? How's God going to keep you?
How's he going to cleanse you? Wherewithal shall a young man
cleanse his wife? by good John, by taking heed
according to this word, cleansing the water of the word, right?
Keep me back from presumptuous sin. How are we kept? Kept by
what? What is the power of God? This
is the word of his power. It all comes right back to this,
doesn't it? Huh? And the great transgression,
finally, presumptuous sin and the great transgression is having
no disregard, total disregard for what he says. I've heard
it, I reject it. I'm going on my way. Oh Lord,
don't let that happen to me. You're the only one that can
keep that from happening. So help me. All right, let's
stand and pray that prayer together. Our Heavenly Father, this is
indeed our prayer. Psalm of David, Psalm 19. Unite our hearts to fear thy
name, that you would send commandment to save us, that you would keep us, cleanse us from secret
faults and keep us back from presumptuous sins. Oh Lord, help us, help us to
be upright, innocent of a great transgression and be found in
that In Christ, believe him, or keep us believing by your
word. May everyone in here, young and old alike, give diligence to make their
calling and election sure, and study the word, look into the
word, seek our Lord. In Christ's name we met together.
Amen. You.
