When I look for a message for
you people, I don't run and grab Spurgeon. I have, oh, sixty-some
volumes of Spurgeon sermons. I never grab one of those books down
and sign his sermon. Never. Never have I done that.
Never will I do that. I don't reach for Flavel. I have
all of his works. I don't reach for Manton. I have
his or Newton. I have his or any of those great
preachers who preach some great messages. But I go not to the words of
men, but I go to the word of God. Go to the Word of God and if
I need help with a passage then I consult. Men whom God has used
and is still using, he being dead yet speaketh. Many great
messages have been taken from those men. But I begin reading
God's Word and asking him, speak to me. I begin reading God's Word and
asking him, speak to me a word that I need. Speak a word in
season to me that may be a word in season to them. And that is how I know when a
message will be a help to someone. I know it will be profitable,
whether I have liberty. This thing, liberty, what is
it? What is liberty to preach? Is it volume? Is it enthusiasm? I really don't think it's any
of those things. Liberty is when God Almighty,
the Word, has free course and enters the heart. That's liberty.
Freedom from any blockage. Whether or not I have liberty
preach with the enthusiasm that I'd like to, or the clarity in
delivering it or not. If the word, if the word just
read, speaks, if the word read speaks to me, if it meets my needs, that is
when I'm reading and looking for a message. If it meets my
needs at the time and I write it down and I'm going to deliver
it to you I know it's going to meet you. It met me a particular
need and helped me and I'm a sinner. And I live in this world and
deal with the world just like you do. I have worked out in
the world, still do to a great degree, work in and amongst them. And in reading the Scriptures,
if something meets my need, I have the same need you have. If it
meets my need, I think, well, old so-and-so, he's going to
get something out of this. This will be a help. Or old so-and-so,
she's going to get something out of this. I know it will profit
you, because we're all the same. There is no difference. Now,
a couple of weeks ago, we looked at Romans 7. Romans seven at a time. When. I was struggling more than usual
with my own sinfulness. We always struggle with that.
Like David said my sin is ever before me. And we looked at Romans
seven together a couple of weeks ago. And we looked at this struggle
but within the believer, the struggles that the believer has. And you're having it right now,
I'm sure, listening to me and trying to enter into this. But
we looked at that. Last Wednesday night, this most
recent Wednesday night, we looked at a passage where the Scripture
says, Think on these things. Think on these things. You know,
I've been thinking about those things ever since. Anybody else?
Anybody? I saw one that I had not good.
Somebody hurt. I have. That will help me so
much, because I've been struggling with the same old, same old.
Since we brought that message, and you know the Scripture has
been coming to my mind every time. Think on these things.
What sort of things are true? What sort of things are honest?
What sort of things are just? What sort of things are pure?
What sort of things are lovely? What sort of things are good
or poor? If there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think
on these things and the God of peace will be with you. That's
been a help to me. Lord, help me think on these
things. Get this trash out of my head
and think on these things. It's going to help them. I was
just reading that one day, and it helped me, and it helped you,
I hope. And now this. Now this. In reading through
these epistles of Paul to young Timothy—this is God's letter
to us, is what it is—I came across these two exhortations. He says
the same thing. He says the same thing in both
letters. He writes to Timothy once and
says this, he writes to him again and says it again. A little sooner
in his letter. It's the last thing he says in
this one, one of them, and a little sooner in his letter he reminds
him. And this spoke to me and met
my need and I pray it will benefit you as well. Chapter 6, 1 Timothy
6. The aging apostle is talking
to young Timothy and he says this. Well, in summary of what
he was saying, he said there were some men of corrupt minds,
a destitute of truth that Timothy would be confronted with, men
and women. Here in chapter 6, he said they'd
be full of pride, they would be full of questions, strife
about words, he said. And you know that could well
speak of. That these could well stand for
natural men and women that you have to deal with today in all
walks of life. This is an evil generation and
you're confronted with the likes. People of that sort and also
religion you'll face that in religion. Men and women of of
that way. Then he talks about the dangers
of materialism. And I would remind you that materialism
is not things owning things. It's things owning you. That's
materialism. He said in verse nine, and he
says this same thing, in verse nine he says, they that will
be rich. Do you see that? Verse ten, the
love of money, which some coveted after. Sin is not in having things,
but the sin is in having things uppermost in your mind and your
affection. And he said these things in warning,
in a warning of danger. that would follow. These things
will drown men and worry and will consume and will pierce,
pierce through, pierce. He warns of that. And then he
says in verse 11 now, this is where I want you to look with
me. Verse 11, he says this, But thou,
O man of God, or thou man, or woman, or young person, or whoever
here is of God, or after God, or at least
seeking God. Whoever here is here to worship
God, to know God, who does know God, and who wants to know God,
thou man, or woman, or young person of God, after God. Seeker, follower after God, He
says this, Thou, O man of woman, young person of God, flee these
things. Flee! Flee! You know what it
is to flee, don't you? Flee! You ever fled from something? I remember as a young boy walking
down a road kind of late. I was about, oh, maybe an early,
young teenager, walking down a road. came up right beside
a big old stand of hemlocks, big hemlock trees, and I was
just walking along. I thought I saw something in
the limbs there, and I went a little closer and looked inside that
hemlock, and there was a big owl. I mean, at the time, he
looked at me, and he was looking at me with those big eyes. And
I fled. I know what it is to flee. I
ran for my life. Well, this is what he said. Run
for your life. Flee. Flee those things. What things? Well, he just said it. He just
went over it, if you were listening. Flee these things. Flee these
men and women. Keep no company with them, Paul
even says. Keep no company with them. Evil
communications corrupt good manners. Keep no company. Flee. Don't
listen to them. He was talking about these men
and women and so forth that are proud and teach otherwise in
our doctrine according to godliness. Many women, through their so-called
wisdom but good words and fair speeches, deceive the hearts
of the people. Go from the presence of a fool who now perceives not
in him the words of the way of understanding," Solomon said.
Go, believe, unless you're smarter than he is. Flee. Flee. And in their ways, he said,
flee their ways in pride, endless questions, strife, and words,
and so forth. Then he talks about worldly ambition. Flee this,
young man. Old man of God, young man, flee
worldly ambition, riches, honor, pleasure. Flee it. Look over just a page of 2 Timothy
2, and this is where you'll see the same words, the very same
words with one exception. 2 Timothy 2. Look at verse twenty-two. It says the same thing in another
letter. "...Flee also, youthful lusts,
but follow." And then he lists these things. "...Follow righteousness,
faith, charity, peace with them that call on the Lord out of
a pure heart. Flee also." Flee with them who
are fleeing. Flee. Call with them who are
calling. He says youthful lust back there
you see that young people listen listen. Listen up young people. He says flea youthful lust what's
that you're not talking about just that you're not talking
about sexual desire not what he's talking about that. Oh that
although. Having that uppermost in one's
thoughts is a. is a thing to flee. But he's
talking about desires and pursuits are all-consuming, all-consuming desires for the
things of this world. He says, flee it. Flee it. Now, as I said earlier, there's
nothing wrong with things, but when they are uppermost in your
thoughts and desires, they're positively sinful to you. There's nothing wrong with things,
but when they're uppermost in your thoughts and your mind,
your desires, they're positively hurtful, and then they are sinful
to you. Like the old saying goes, a rose,
you know, thorns will not prick of themselves. Thorns will not
prick of themselves, but when grasped in a man's hand, they'll hurt. They'll positively
hurt, and to remove It's painful. Flee, flee. Young people, he
says, youthful lusts, young people, young people, they get a taste of this and that, of here and
there. They get a taste of that. And they become consumed with,
consumed with drinking a full cup. I know. I have been young. I am young. But I have been younger, as youth
is young as anyone young in here. And you get a taste, I know you
get a little taste of Sodom, or a little taste of this and
that and the other, and become consumed with drinking the full
cup. But I'll tell you what you'll
find at the bottom of it. You'll find dregs that are bitter,
mighty bitter to the taste, and hard to go down. When we talk
about youthful lust, and this is important, listen to some
of the things youthful lust. Listen. And these are lawful. These things are lawful. But
a lust after them is not expedient. Things that are lawful and youthful
love. When I talk about youthful love, you young, youthful, that
means lust. It means you've got to have it
all now. Youthful lust. You lust after
a husband or a wife. And all young people do. They
go through these cravings, particularly, well, male and female. Young
girls seem to have a worse case of it earlier on. But you got
long for a husband and a wife and just don't think life's going
to be, you're going to be fulfilled without it, without him or her.
You don't think you can just be happy without
one. I'm telling you. And this is
casting no reflection on my wife. I have about the best one you
could possibly have. Really. But I'm telling you, marriage
is not what you think. Is not what you think it's going
to be. Huh? Amen. But Paul said it in 1 Corinthians
7. He said there's going to be trouble. in the flesh. Those that will
be married will be troubled. Those that will be, as Paul said,
those that will be rich, or those that will be married at all costs,
I've got to have me a husband. You can find you one, but oh,
the trouble you're going to have unless you seek the Lord's will
and find you a man after God's own heart, or a woman. You're
going to get married, and you're going to be married. Husband and wife. These are youthful
lusts, you see. Go after them. I've got to have
them. No, you don't either. You've got to be married to another
to experience real happiness. I'm telling you, the best husband
and wife, you're going to have heartache. And maybe that man
or that woman whom you think is the most faithful, loving,
and true might be gone. Look at the flip. Huh? What good did that marriage
do you? You better be married to Christ. Young people after the world,
after things. I'm telling you, the more you
accumulate, the more will be the worries and the troubles
with them. where your treasure is. That's
where your mind's going to be. And you'll have more to worry
about. And it will become a debt-laden burden on your back
that will keep your nose to the grindstone working 24 hours and
your wife and job at the part-time, they're just keeping you down. a burden. Am I telling the truth? Flee, youthful love. Flee. A child, young girls want a baby,
want to get married and have a baby. That's fine. That's lawful.
It's good. Isn't it fine? You women who've
had children, they've been a blessing, haven't they? But you women who've
had children who have rebelled against you, Is there a greater heartache
on the face of the earth? Have you ever known pain like
that pain? Young girls, children aren't happiness. It's not what life is all about.
Christ is life. Jesus Christ is happiness. I'm
telling you, I've sat where you're sitting, looking at a man telling
me the same things. Now here's what he says to follow
after. Look at these things. Flee. Flee these things. In 1
Timothy 6, verse 11, he says, flee these things and follow
after. Listen. Listen to me now. Verse
11, flee these things and follow after righteousness. Now, turn
over to Matthew chapter 6 with me. Matthew 6. Hurry. Matthew 6. Follow after righteousness. Follow righteousness. What's
he talking about? He's not talking about morality
yet. He is going to talk about that next. But that's not what you pursue
first, is that you don't clean the outside first. Right? You don't get all
good and moral and everything and straighten your life and
turn over a new leaf, you know. The other side of the leaf is
the same as the one you turned over. Right? It's just as rotten. Every leaf out here is just as
dead on both sides. We need green, greenness, green
leaves, new life. Well, here's how you're going
to get it. Follow, look at Matthew 6. Follow after righteousness,
he said. Look at Matthew 6, verse 31.
Take no thought what we shall eat. And then he's talking about
these all-consuming lusts or desires of where we're going
to eat now, where tomorrow, let's go here, let's go there. What
shall we drink? I've often thought that the reason
there's not much interest in the gospel in these major cities
is you can go somewhere new to dinner every night of the week
for years. You can do something different in the form of recreation
every night of the week for years. Keep yourself occupied somehow,
somewhere, something, and never give God a thought. That's what
he's saying here. What are we going to eat? What
are we going to drink? Where are we going to go? What am I going to buy?
Where else shall we be clothed? Verse 32, that's what the heathen,
the Gentiles, seek after. Your heavenly Father knows what
You have need of, verse 33, "...seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness." And all these things will be
added to you. Promise. All these things are added. There's
no promise of vice versa, is there? There's no promise of,
well, I'll get, I'll get, I'll seek Christ I'll seek God, I'll
get interested in this thing after I get me a husband, get
me a baby and settle down, get me a good job and a home and
all that. Then I'll seek him. Ain't no promise that he ain't
going to have you." He says, "...seek first, though,
the kingdom of God, that is, God, to know him, be in him,
and his righteousness." What's that? That's what Paul's telling
us to follow after. What is his righteousness? God's
righteousness. Huh? Jesus Christ. That's who He is. And that's
how we're going to get to this God. That's how we're going to
know God. That's how we're going to...
You man of God, you woman, you young person, you seeking God,
you're going to have to seek God's righteousness. You're going
to have to get to God through God's righteousness. Here we
go, line on line. And God's holding. And we're sinful, just altogether
sinful. God hates sin. God hates sin. God loves only righteousness.
That's all we are is sin. There's none righteous, no, not
one, the Scripture says. Right? God hates sin and loves
only righteousness. The Scripture says there is none
righteous, no, not one. But there is one righteous. There is one, only one, a righteous
man who doeth good and sinneth not. Who can find him? I found
him. He found me. And God is well pleased with
this man for his righteousness sake. And God says he will accept
all men and women and young people just by faith in this man. What
am I talking about? Jesus Christ, the righteousness
of God to everyone that believeth. Jesus Christ, the righteousness
of God. And he said, if you confess with
thy mouth, right there, not this, per se, right there, in baptism,
confess with thy mouth, dying to the world, buried, crucified
with Christ, buried, risen again to walk, follow him and believe
in thine heart. you'll be safe. He is your only
hope of righteousness. He is your only hope of righteousness. Follow after, seek, ask, knock,
till Christ is yours. Till Christ is yours. Look at
the second thing. He says follow after righteousness. That's Christ. Look for Christ. And next he says follow after,
look at this. Godliness. And this is what,
see the order, Deborah, it's not vice versa. It doesn't say
clean up your life and then come to Christ. No, come to Christ
to be clean. Come to Christ to be made clean. Come as you are, just as I am.
Don't clean up your life and come to Christ. Come to Christ,
he'll clean it up. It'll clean it up, something that it'll last.
Godliness, though, he says, godliness. What is that? Well, it's a big
word. And it means, well, it includes
many things, but godliness means the things of God. Follow after
the things of God, the ways of God. The ways of the world. The way the world's headed is
the opposite of God. All right, here's worldliness,
and the opposite is godliness. You see that? Worldliness, thoughts
and ways and pursuits and desires and the loves and the pursuits,
is worldliness. That's the way they're headed,
their own way. The end is destruction and misery. With the opposite of that, God
says, my thoughts are not your thoughts, my ways are not your
ways. Godliness is the other way. He says, flee, follow. Follow. Godliness, which is another
word for Christlikeness. Christlikeness. You want to know
what God is like? Godliness. You want to know what
it's like to be godly? Do you? You want to be godly?
You want to be godly? Godliness. You want to know what
it's like to be godly? You want God's like? Like God? God's likeness? Study Jesus Christ. That's godliness. However Christ
was, is like God. Whatever Christ did, that's what
God does. How was Christ, that's how God
is. Right? Godliness. We don't get
our standard from men. We don't get our standard from
the denomination or from books. We get it from Christ. We study
Him. Godliness. What'd He do? Where'd
He go? How'd He say? How'd He deal with
others? Right? That's Godliness. Christ-like. Study Christ. He's
God in human flesh. And He had the spirit of... He
had the spirit without measure. Let me tell you, here's what
Christ is like, all right? Who had the Spirit without measure.
Listen, here's what Christ is like. Love. Joy. Joy. Peace. Long-suffering. Gentle. Good.
Faith. Meek. Temperate. That's what
Christ is like. That's through the Spirit. That's
what he had without measure. Follow after Him. Be like Him. John, walk like He walked. Endeavor
to talk like He talked. By God's grace. By God's help.
Follow after. Follow after. I've told you this
story. But Bunyan, John Bunyan's book,
The Holy War. I love it. I'm telling it to
you, not just to take up time. I'm running out of it. But I
love this. I love to hear it myself. John
Bunyan's book, The Holy War, when Immanuel conquered the town
of Mansoul. See, it was captive to Diabolus,
the devil, held captive by him at his will. Immanuel broke down
the ear gate and the eye gate and came in. And it says, the
people of the town of Mansoul, oh, they fell in love with Emmanuel.
Barber, they fell in love with him. They liked everything about
him. They liked the way he looked. They liked the way he talked.
They liked the way he walked. And it said, as he walked down
the street, the people got in behind him, and they tried to
put their feet where he put his feet. Father Lester! Godliness! I want to walk like
Jesus Christ, don't you? Do it. Do it. By God's grace, by God's help. Take these on these things. When I become a man, forty a
man, I don't know. Somebody tell me, some of you
way past. I want to put away childish things,
youthful lusts. Flee, Joseph, flee. Follow after. Somebody worth
following. Emulate. Somebody worth emulating. Hmm? The older I get, Sammy,
the more I want to be like Jesus Christ. If I don't show it, God
will knock me down and start over. Right? The older I get, I want to have
a little patience, a little faith, a little faith. little faith. I'd like to have, Terry, just
a mustard seed by that time, by this time." Well, grow in grace. I quit growing
physically years ago, now I'm going down. Man, sometimes he
gets six feet some tall, and by the time it's all over, he's
five tons. Well, I don't want that to be
spiritually, do you? But he did say he will perfect
that which concerns him. Why don't you look at the next
thing? It says, follow after faith.
Look at 1 Timothy 6, 11. Follow after faith. Follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith. Faith, belief, trust, knowledge,
hope in Christ. Knowledge of hope in Christ.
How do we get faith? Somebody drive this in my head.
How do we get faith? Do we want faith? The just shall
live by faith. This is that which overcometh
the world. What? Faith. How do I get it? How do
I get strong in faith? Faith means dependent on God.
It means trusting in Christ. It means calm, settled, grounded. Hope? Have hope, trust, knowledge
not being tossed to and fro? Where does it come from? Hearing and hearing how? By the
Word of God. How are they going to hear without
what? It's what we're doing here in
faith. Faith comes this way. faith come by hearing and hearing
by the word of God. And as I said in Romans 10, how
are they going to hear without a preacher? And he better, if
you say, I'll preach. Well, you better be sent. How
shall they preach except they be sent? I want to know God. I want to
know Christ. Come to where God has revealed himself time and
again. I want to know God. I want to
know Christ. God has revealed himself here through the preaching
and teaching this Word time and again. That's where I'm headed. I want to know Christ. I want
to fall in love with Christ. I want faith in Christ. Come
where Christ is promised to be, where two or three are gathered
in my name. There I am in the middle of them. I want to meet with Christ. I
want to study Christ. I want to fall in love with Christ. I want faith in Christ to come
where he is, where he speaks. Look over chapter 2 Timothy 2. I've already said this. Look
at verse 22. He says, "...with them that call
on the Lord." Follow after faith. See that? "...with them that
call on the Lord." Follow them that are following Christ. Call
on the Lord with them that are calling on the Lord. Where are
you going? I'm going to go calling on God. I'm going to go calling on people.
I'm going to call on so-and-so. I called on the Andersons yesterday.
They weren't expecting it. But I called on them, and they
graciously received it. I called on them. I'm going to
go calling on God today. That's what we're doing here. We're going to call on God. Lord,
help us. Lord, increase our faith. Lord,
increase our faith. Okay? Faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God. Wednesday night. What are we
going to do Wednesday night? Play church? No. Call on God. Lord, increase our faith. Okay? Faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God. Here we go. One more time. Line upon line, same old, I've
heard that before, preacher. Look at the next thing, love.
He says, follow after love. Where are you going to find love? Where are you going to find love? As I was picking on the young
people a while ago, forgive me, I don't want to pick on you.
I do it out of a sense of urgency. I just want to scream. I want
to grab our young people. But it doesn't look good, does
it? Look at me. That's what I want
to do, grab them by the... Look! Listen! It doesn't do any
good. Open your eyes! They're blind. Listen! Deaf. But, and I pick on you, and I
say what I'm saying because I'm concerned about you. I love you. Your parents love you. Oh, my
soul, they don't want to... You'll know someday. You'll know
someday. If you become a parent, you will
rule the day. Oh, love. You're not going to
find love. That's what I'm trying to say.
You're not going to find true and lasting love out there. In
the world, friendships and companionships and relationships with the world,
it's not I've got. It's not I've got. Want to love? Want to love God? Love Christ? Want to love and be loved? You
go where the love of God is shared abroad. Right? You go where the love of God
is shared abroad, and it's not in the world. He said over in 1 John 5, he
said, this is love. This is love. God is bestowed
upon us, called sons of God. He says this, this is what I
want to quote to you. Who shall ever believe that Jesus
is the Christ is born of God and everyone that loveth him
or God that begat loveth him also is begotten of God. He loves
God's people. You're only going to find true
friends among believers. It's true. It's true. You say, but I haven't found
that love like I think ought to be there. He said, I've been coming to
church here a long time, and I haven't found that love to
be perfect. You haven't? Hmm. Well, you know, how long has
the gospel been preached here? No, it hasn't been a long time,
either. This is a young church. I came
from one that's been preached here over 40 years. This one
hasn't been that long. It's young. Gloves have got to
grow. I've been married 16 years. 16 years. And some of you have
been married longer than that. How much did you love your wife
or your husband when you got married? No, no, no, no, no. Come on.
It was infatuation at first. There ain't no such thing as
love at first sight. Get that out of your head. Love
doesn't come from sight, does it? Doesn't come from sight. You didn't love your husband
or wife that much compared to what you do now. Right? Taking a long time doing
it. Both of you got to grow in grace.
Both of you got to grow. This love in this church is not
what No, it ain't perfect. But, God, I'm confident that
He has begun this work. He's going to perfect it. He's
going to make old Henry sort of a lovely fellow. Why don't
you just hang around a while? He'll be lovely." Well, I really happen to think
He is now. He doesn't. And maybe you don't. He hasn't
treated you right. Let me ask you this. Have you
treated Him right? That's the question we ought
to be asking. I haven't found love like that. Have you given it? Huh? Have you given it? Follow after
love. You've got to nurture love. You've
got to nurture it. You don't just receive it. It's
more blessed to give than to receive. Right? You who have
children, again, Do you get the love back from them that you
give to them? Huh? Does it come close? Do you come
close to receiving the love from them that you give to them? Huh?
No. Well, how come they're still
around? How come you still put up with them? You love them.
You're the blessed one. Why? You love them. More blessed
to give. Try that. Follow after that.
Follow after him who is love. How did he love? Husband, love
your wife. How? Like he loved. Like he loved. Wife, submit to your husband.
How's that? Like Christ did to his Father.
Next thing. Patience. Follow after patience.
Patience. Be patient with me just a minute.
Just a minute. All right? Just a few minutes. Be patient. Seek to be. Strive for patience. Patience. What is patience? What is patience? It's calm, calm submission and
resignation, even contentment in God's will and God's ways. Anybody need that? Oh my, anybody
have it? What is patience? Patience is
calm submission and resignation, even contentment in God's will
and God's way. Patience. Nothing riles him.
Why don't you get upset about anything? That's patience. Patience. Patiently submitting to whatever
God does. How does one get patience? James answered that. He said
in James chapter 1, he says, let patience have a perfect work.
How? The trial of your faith worketh
patiently. the trial of your faith, worketh
patience." And he says, let patience have her perfect or perfecting
work. Rebecca, that you may be perfect
or mature and entire a woman. Wanting nothing. That means lacking,
desiring nothing. I have all. I am content. Don't you want to be like that,
Rebecca? How's it come? Trial. Trial of your faith. The trial of your faith. God
tries faith. The trial. To trust, depend,
look to Him at the time of that trial. Listen to me now. A little
bit, would you? Patience. God gets you through
that particular trial and trouble and heartache and sorrow. It's
a trial, heavy trial. He proves himself strong. He
gets you through it, and he shows you in the end it was good, everything's
fine, God's in control. You ought to be a little more
patient the next time. Right? Right? Job. That's how Job. You talking about
the patience of Job? things he kept being tried, didn't
he? And lastly, he said, look at
this, and I'll quit, follow after meekness. Verse 11, follow after
meekness. Oh, we go right back to where we
started, don't we? The author and the finisher of
all this. Huh? Don't we? He that hath begun
a good work is going to be the finisher of it. He who is our
righteousness is our greatest example of meekness. Isn't it? Meekness. And this is another
word for peace. He said over there in this second
letter, humility, peaceable spirit. Follow him who is meek. Christ
said, take my yoke upon you. Take my yoke upon you. Take up
your cross. and follow men. My yoke is easy,
my burden is light. Follow him who is meek and lowly
in heart. Follow him. People, God resisteth
the proud. Reject, thumbs down. Young people,
reject, thumbs down all of this world's heroes. They ain't worth
killing. They're proud of all those things
in 2 Timothy 3. Lovers of pleasure more than
loving, heady, high-minded, rebellious. Reject them all, thumbs down.
There's only one man worth following and looking up to. The Lord Jesus
Christ. Follow him who is meek. Because
listen to this. Listen to these words in closing.
with the joy of him picked up. He says this about the meek. Listen, the meek. Follow the
meek. The meek is not the strong shall survive. It's the meek.
It's not the proud, and it's not the dog, big dog. It's the little lamb. Telling you Christ said the meek
shall inherit the earth. The strong will be brought to
nothing. The weak shall be made strong. The meek shall eat and
be satisfied. These are different verses. The
meek will he guide in judgment and teach his way. Not the know-it-alls,
not the proud, not the would-be preachers or teachers. The meek. The meek shall inherit
the earth. God will save the meek of the
earth. The Lord lifted up the meek.
The Lord will beautify the meek with salvation. The meek shall
increase their joy in the Lord. The Lord hath anointed me, Christ
said, to preach glad tidings." To who? The meek. The meek. I thank God that I see that here. Meekness. Follow him who is meek
and endeavor to be like him. All right. Brother Joe, you have
a hymn picked out?
