talking to me, and Kyle Curtis,
who it was, and he began to cry and said, you
know, he said, you know, I seek the Lord, He's all I've got,
and He's all I want, and I've got nobody else to turn to. You
know, he's talking about needs, and has, and how he turns to
Christ, and how desperately he needs Christ, and how he wants
Him. And that he's the only one who can really, really, when
it's all said and done, do anything for us when we're in trouble.
Now look with me here at Psalm 51. And you see a verse of scripture
there, verse 10, says this, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and
renew a right spirit within me. Now what David is doing here,
he's telling us about the acceptable sacrifice of God. You know, our
Lord, look what he says in verse 16. For thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it. Thou delightest
not in burnt offerings. Our Lord Jesus told the Pharisees
one day, He told them, He says, I'll have mercy and not sacrifice. You go find out what that means.
Don't bring me your lambs, your goats, your works, your merits,
your worth. Don't bring me your self-rights.
Don't bring me anything. I'll have mercy. I show mercy. What could you give to God that
God would have to pay you back, owe you anything? And that's
what he says. He says, but now here, the sacrifices
of God are a broken heart. Now, you can take a broken heart
to God. And you can take a broken and
contrite, O God, the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a
broken and a contrite heart, O God, that will not despise.
A broken heart, broken spirit. And the language of this song,
if you read the whole thing, is the language and hard cry
of every true believer. It's the hard cry of his repentance.
It's the hard cry of his attitude towards himself and towards God.
And you know, he talks a lot about being clean before God.
Look right back there at verse 2. He talks about being clean
before God. And that's where we're going
to have to be clean before. You know, our Lord Jesus says,
you cleaned the outside cup of the platter and the cup, but
within, within, full of dead men's bones, rottenness and corruption.
But David was interested in being clean before God. And he says
in verse two, wash me throughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me
from my sin. Not just wanting to be clean.
He wanted to be cleansed from his sin. And he's going to the
right place, to God. And look what he says down there.
In verse 7, purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me,
and I shall be whiter than snow. And then he talked in verse 10,
created in me a clean heart, will cleanse me from my sin.
Purge me, and I shall be clean. Created in me a clean heart,
O God. You see, he talks about being
clean before God, and you know why? Because he knows he's filthiness.
He knows his filthiness before God. He knows that in himself.
Wash me. Wash me. Wash me thoroughly. Didn't say thoroughly. He said,
wash me thoroughly. His problem is in his heart.
He now desires truth in the inward part, and his problem was in
his heart. And he says, that's why he says,
cleanse me, create in me a clean heart. And that's why Isaiah
said, you know, when he saw the Lord high and lifted up, he said,
woe is me. I'm undone. I'm unclean. And
not only am I unclean, but I dwell in the midst of an unclean people.
And all of our righteousnesses are as a filthy rag. And we're
all as a leaf who does fade. And there's four things. Let
me give this to you quickly. There's four things that are
acceptable Very acceptable to God. And the first one's this. And if you have this one, all
the rest of them will fall into place. And that is that the acceptable
to God is the sacrifice of the body of the Lord Jesus Christ
to put away our sin by the sacrifice of Himself. That's the first
thing. God sent forth the Lord Jesus Christ to be a propitiation,
to be an atoning victim, to be a sacrifice on behalf of His
people. God says in the blood of bulls
and goats, it wasn't possible to take away sin. But he says,
thou hast prepared me a body. And in burnt offerings and for
sin, there has no pleasure. But thou have prepared me a body.
And our Lord Jesus was preparing a body so that in that body,
he would offer himself on that cross as a sacrifice, a sacrifice
for sin. And the scripture says that he,
through the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, through the offering
of his body, he put away sin once and for all by the sacrifice
of himself. And he hath perfected forever
them that he sanctified. Now that's the first thing. You
forget everything else if you ain't got that. That's the first
thing. You've got to know that Jesus
Christ was sacrificed as a substitute. He was put in somebody's place.
And whose sin? Was your sin on Him? Do you feel like He bore your
sin, your guilt, bore your burden, your guilt before God? Your sins? And oh, in His, there's a lonely
sacrifice that sanctifies us and makes His people acceptable
to Him. You know, for both He that sanctifies
and they who are sanctified are all of one. Christ sanctifies
us, and He that sanctified us, we're all one, God said. And
so, you know, the only way you're acceptable to God is through
the Lord Jesus Christ. Second sacrifice is this. Or
the four things that are acceptable to God. And the second thing
is an unfeigned love to God. That's counted better than all
the sacrifices or any external part that you can ever have in
worship. To have an unfeigned love to God. Now, we know that
we love Him because He first loved us. Now, you keep Psalm
51. Look with me over here in Mark, chapter 12, just a moment.
Paul wrote to the Ephesians and he says, unto them that love
the Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity, in sincerity. So what he was
saying was there's people that don't love the Lord Jesus Christ
in sincerity, but all to love him sincerely with a pure heart,
with faith unfeigned, love to God, unfeigned love to God, not
a put on love to God. Not a pine to sky-bind by love
to God. Not this old staring off into
space and talking about how much you love Jesus. I'm talking about
a love that God puts in your heart for Him as He is. Not the
way you want Him to be. Not the way you'd like for Him
to be. Not the way you've heard He was all your life. But the
way He is. You love His holiness as much
as you do His grace. You love His justice as much
as you do His mercy. You love His wrath as much as
you do His love. You don't pick and choose what
part of God you're going to love better than another. You take
Him just the way He is. And that's why He's talking about
unfeigned love. Look what our Master said here
in verse 32, Mark chapter 12. And the scribe said unto Him,
Well, Master, Thou hast said the truth, for there is one God,
and there is none other but He. And to love Him, With all the
heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, with all the
strength, and to love his neighbor as himself is more than all burnt
offerings and sacrifices. That's to love him unfeigning,
to love him with a pure heart. And then the third, third thing
that's acceptable to God is to walk holy and humbly and obedient
obediently before God. Towards God and before God. You
know, God don't have no rebels in His kingdom. We'll get to
that here in a minute. God has no rebels. But to walk wholly,
humbly, obediently towards God and before God. Now, I'm going
to show you a verse of Scripture. And you go over to 1 Samuel. Just go right over to your right
and just keep flipping until you find it. You go to Chronicles
and 2 Kings, 1 Kings, 2 Samuel, 1 Samuel. Over here in 1 Samuel, chapter
15, let me show you. To walk wholly and humbly before
God, obediently before God. Look what Samuel the prophet said here.
1 Samuel 15.22. Look what he says here. Talking about walking humbly
and obediently before God. And Samuel said, Hath the Lord
as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying
the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than
sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. Just do what
I tell you. Just obey what I say. Do what I say. Walk humbly before
me. He said, Abraham, go out. I'm
coming. The Lord sees my face. I'm going to seek your face.
Our Lord Jesus said, follow me. I'm going to follow you. That's
what it says in 1 Thessalonians 2. God says, come unto my son.
Our Lord Jesus said, come unto me. Nobody can come unto the
Father but by just obeying. Hear Him show up. Hear and know
that my dear by disciples, because you do what you keep my commandments.
What's His commandments? That you love one another even
as I have loved you. And He says, what work should
we do that we may have the kingdom of God? He says, this is the
work of God. This is what God does for you. That you believe
on Him whom God has sent. And then there's the third. Here's
the fourth thing. And that's where we go back in
our text. Here's the fourth thing. In verse 17, here's the sacrifices
of God for a broken spirit. A broken spirit. Broken in contrite
heart. What does this mean, a broken
spirit? That means rebellion's gone. The fight, you give it up. Your
weapons, you lay them down. And I'll tell you what, beloved,
that spirit's got to be broken. You know, we take our children,
and if you ain't got them pretty much under control by the time
they're five years old, you ain't never going to get them under
control. This ain't going to happen. You've
got to stay with them until they understand that your word is
what... And that's what God says. He
says, broken spirit. I mean, the rebellion is gone. No more kicking. No more rebellion. No more questioning. No more
arguing. No more debating. No more fussing. No more questioning. Just stop. That rebellion's gone. You give
up the fight. You lay your weapons down. No
wonder our Lord Jesus Christ blessed him out of the pouring
spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. And that's the first
reattitude. The first one. And then he says
a clean heart. Over in verse 10, this is what
I want to deal with. He says, Create in me a clean heart. A
clean heart is a heart that's been broken. And renew a right
spirit within me. A right spirit that's one that's
been broken. You can't have a right spirit until God breaks it. And
He makes the spirit right. Is that not right? You can't
have a broken heart. You can't have a broken spirit. You can't
have a clean heart. You can't have a contrite spirit
until God gives it to you. Oh, there's a heart. Well, let
me tell you this. First of all, there's a heart that is not clean.
There's some hearts that are not clean. And I'll tell you
what a heart that's not clean is. And this is what God said,
for creating me a clean heart. A person who doesn't have a clean
heart, they don't have a contrite heart. You know what a contrite
heart is? It means it's crushed. It's crushed. It collapses. You know, if you
ever, you know, when you hurt a child's feelings, and you whip
them, and then they come to you, and they're so contrite, and
they come crying, and they collapse into your arms, and they just
fall on you, and just so sorry. You know, they feel like they've
hurt you. hurt your feelings, or you displeased
them in some way. I used to be able to even just
speak to my son with a hard voice, and I could bring tears to his
eyes. Contra heart, that heart that's crushed, that heart that's
collapsed. Has God ever, that crushed heart. And I'll tell
you, a heart that's not clean is a heart full of evil imaginations
and darkness. God says that he looked down
from heaven, and you know what he saw? before the flood. He said he looked down and all
he saw was the evil. Man's heart was only evil continually. Not just part of the time. Not
just every once in a while, but continually. Continually. And let me tell you something.
You know what this evil imagination is? Let me say one of the evilest
imaginations of human being today. Is to imagine that you have a
righteousness. acceptable to God by something
you yourself do." Now, ain't that right? Paul says, you know,
he said, I had a righteousness which was after the law, I counted
it blameless. But he says, after I saw Christ,
after God broke me down on the Damascus road, after He broke
my spirit and put me in the dust, he said, I counted my righteousness
but dumb then. Counted but dumb. to come to
God and come to think that you've got something in your hands to
bring Him that makes you acceptable to Him. The evilest thing a person
can do is to think they've got a righteousness to add to Christ's
righteousness. That Christ is not enough. That
I've been good enough, I've been smart enough, I've been dedicated
enough, I've been humble enough, I've been sincere enough, I've
shed enough tears, and I ain't got anybody. Go on and on and
on and on. It's awful. And, oh, beloved, I'll tell you
something else about a heart that's not clean. It's a heart
that's deceitful. Deceitful heart. And it's subject
to be deceived, especially about eternal things. Let me show you
a verse in Isaiah 44. An unclean heart. I'll get to
the clean one here in a minute. An unclean heart. It's a heart
that's deceitful. It's deceived in itself, it trusts
in itself, and it's subject to be deceived, especially about
eternal things, about things that's eternal. Look what he
said here in Isaiah 44, 20. Boy, this is a verse of Scripture
everybody ought to mark in their Bible. He feedeth on ashes. Does he feed on Christ? No. Don't
feed on the Gospel? No. Does he feed on the Word
of God? No. Bakes good food. Bakes his eating
well. A deceived heart hath turned
him aside. That's why he's eating his ashes.
That's why he's not trusting Christ. He's not eating on the
bread of heaven. A deceived heart hath turned him aside that he
cannot deliver his soul nor save. Is there not a lie in my right
hand? My, my. And then let me tell you something
else about this heart that's not clean. It's an unbelieving
heart. An unbelieving heart. And what
an unbelieving heart will do, it will turn away from God and
it will turn to sin. Paul says, take heed, brethren,
that there be not in you an evil heart of unbelief in departing
from the living God. Take heed that you don't have
an evil heart in departing from the living God. heart of unbelief. And I'll tell you something else
about a heart that's not clean. It's a heart that's not prepared
for God or the reception of His Word. You know, a heart that's
not clean, that's not been broken, that's not been humbled, will
not be prepared. It's not prepared for God or
the reception of His Word. My, my, not receive God? Not
believe God? Not receive His Word? And then
they show you this. I'm going to show you. You know,
look with me in Psalm 12. I'm going to show you about a
double heart. A heart that's not clean is a
double heart. This is astounding verse of Scripture to me because
I've been there. I know all these things are so because I've been
there. I know exactly what I'm talking about. I've had all that. I had a heart that wasn't contrite.
I was a preacher. I was a Pentecostal preacher,
holiness preacher, fundamentalist preacher, legalist. And oh, I
didn't have a contrite heart. I didn't have a contrite heart.
It's so proud. And I had this evil imagination
that if I went off and prayed hard enough, and prayed long
enough, and prayed loud enough, God heard my prayer. If I paid my tithes regularly,
gave a little extra every once in a while, you know, that made me in good
standing. Made me just—made me have a little
more rights than somebody else did. Letting my daughter wear—wouldn't
let her wear a pants. She had to wear a dress all the
time. That made me more righteous than people who let their children
do it. Oh, it's awful, ain't it?
That's what I tell you I'm worried about. I've been there. I know
what it is. And I know what it is to have
a heart not prepared for God's reception of His Word. You start
questioning it before God comes along, and He starts pounding
on that heart, and you start to question, Lord, is that true? Could that be so? Is that preacher
telling the truth? And I'd ask that question lots
of times if you cared. I'd ask that question. But look
what it says, not only a heart that's not clean, it's another
heart. Look what He said in Psalm 12 and verse 2. They speak vanity,
every one with his neighbor. With flattering lips and with
a double heart do they speak. A heart for you when they're
with you, a heart against you when they're not with you. They're
kind of like politicians. Kind of like politicians. They
can be for and against something all in the same breath. They'd
say, I'm for it, I'm for it. And Megan said, before it's against
something, all in the same breath. It's like Mr. Bunyan in his Pilgrim's
Progress. He ran across a character, a
man, when he was on his journey to the Celestial City, and this
fellow he ran into was Mr. Faithful. Mr. Facebook once. He had a face
that could look in any direction he wanted to. If you know, when
he was with Mr. Bunyan, he looked toward Mr.
Bunyan, agreed with him 100%. But he got over here, with Old
Dobless, and he agreed with Old Dobless, you know. It just, wherever
he was at, that's what he went along with. As the old saying
is around here, he's in the old dog's little honey. And I'll tell you this, beloved,
it's a proud heart. A heart that's not clean, it's
a proud heart, a stout heart. Proud and stout. It doesn't like
to be controlled. It don't want to be controlled.
It wants its own way. It wants its independence. Even
though God Himself would be the controller, He don't want it
to be controlled. And then last of all, and everybody
knows this, and then you can look it up for yourself, it's
a heart that's deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.
Jeremiah 17 and 9. Now, let's hold the negative. Let's do some positive. What
is a clean heart? What is a clean heart? A heart
that's been cleansed by the Spirit of God. A heart that's been broken
by the Word of God. A spirit that's been renewed
where He says, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right
spirit within me. And, O beloved, a clean heart,
cleaned by the Spirit of God, by the Word of God, a spirit
renewed, made right by the Spirit of God. And I want you to notice
this. He said, create in me a clean heart. He didn't say, patch up
the old one. He didn't say, clean up this
old rotten one here. I'm going to give it to you.
No, no. He says, create in me. I've got to have a new heart
created. God said he'd take out the stony heart of flesh and
he'd put in a heart. Take out that old stony heart
and he'd put in a heart of flesh. A heart that could be touched.
A heart that could be moved. Don't patch it up. Create in
me. If I have a clean heart, you've
got to create it in me. And only God can reign. Only
God can do something for a man's heart. And I tell you what, let
me tell you this, a man with a clean heart and a man with
the right spirit, he's a sensible man. He's a man that's got some
sense. What do you mean by that? I'll tell you what, first of
all, he's sensible of his sin before God and his sinful nature. Look what he said up there in
verse 3, Psalm 51. He's a man sensible of his sin
before God, of his sinful nature. He said, I acknowledge my transgressions. People don't care to tell somebody
else their transgressions. Husbands and wives tell one another
that all the time. Parents tell their children.
But here's the thing, sensible of a sin, for I acknowledge my
transgression, and it's my sin that's before me. My sin. And look what else he says here.
Against thee, the only have I sinned. He said, God don't care what
else I've done and who I've done it against, whatever I've done,
if I sinned against a man, I sinned against you, created in your
image. And whatever sin I commit, when it's all said and done,
it's against you. And it's evil that I've done in your
sight. So that you, when you judge me,
and bring me to judgment, and look at me, and see me, you can
be clear and justified, because I say I acknowledge that it's
against you, and when you judge me, you'll be justified in judging
me and doing what you will with me, because I acknowledge my
sin and my transgression, and it's against you. And then what
else he said? This is depravity. This is what
he knew about his sinful nature, and this is where folks miss
it. They think sin is something done with the hand, but this
man sinned because of what he had in his nature. He said, I
was shapen, in verse 5, in iniquity. Where was he shaping an iniquity
at? In his mother's womb. And sin did my mother conceive
me. All in the world one sinner can do is produce another sinner.
And all men, any man and any woman, all they can do is produce
like. That's all they can do. And that's
what David says. My mother was a sinner. My father was a sinner.
And when they deceived me, I was shaping in it, when my body was
being shaped, I was shaping in iniquity. I come out of my mother's
womb. A sinner! A man don't start, a man don't
be wise. You know why a man lies? Because
he's born a liar. You know why a man steals? Because
he's born a stealer. You know why a man is born a
braggart? Braggs because he's born a braggart. A man does what
he does because he is what he is. When a man steals something,
that's not what makes him a thief. He stole because he was a thief. And oh, beloved, and I'll tell
you what, so you're sensible of your sin, you know anything
about this sinful nature. Oh, this sinful nature. Oh, thank
God one of these days we'll be done with it. Never have to deal
with it ever again. Never have to deal with this
body, with these thoughts, with these imaginations, with these
emotions, with these... Oh, the things that you say,
think and feel. Never have to deal with them
again one of these days when Christ comes and changes our
body. Let me tell you this too. A man
with a clean heart and a right spirit is a sorrowful man. He's a sorrowful man. What is
he sorrowful about? What's he sorrowful about? Well,
everything that he finds out about himself is true. As God
begins to teach him, he finds out everything that God says
about him is true. Huh? Oh, now, boy, everything
he sees in himself, why he's so sorry of what he sees in himself.
Any of y'all here sorry of what you see in yourselves? Do you find it so true what you
know about your depraved nature? You know what a man that sees
himself as he is, you know what he does? He calls himself a wretched
man. Wretched man. He won't stand
up and talk about being such a good man. His wife may call
him good. His mother may call him good.
His children may call him good, his neighbors may call him good,
but you know what he says about himself before God? Oh, wretched
man that I am! I'm the chief of sinners, the
chief of sinners. Oh, I tell you what, a man with
a clean heart and a right spirit, oh, create in me a clean heart,
oh God, renew a right spirit within me. A man with a clean
heart and a right spirit, he's a humble man. I mean, he becomes
humble. He puts his hand over his mouth.
He gets down before God, and he stays before God. It's humbling
to know what you are. It's humbling to know that God
knows you. It's humbling to know that you're
shaped in an iniquity and conceived in sin. It's humbling to know
that you have no more control over yourself and what goes on
in your mind. When you pick up a Bible, what
goes through your mind? Try to pray what goes through
your mind. And all these things. And also he sees, oh God, he
gets down in the dust. Oh God, have mercy on me. Oh
God, please be tenderful to me, merciful to me, gracious to me.
And when he finds out himself, when God teaches him himself,
he comes to this conclusion, what in the world do I have to
be proud of? What do I have to be... What
have I got that God didn't give me? Oh, that man with a clean heart
and a right spirit, that's the way he is. I've got enough to
be proud of. Everything I've got, God gave
me. If I know anything, God taught me. If I have anything, God gave
it to me. If I understand anything, God
taught me. And I tell you this, a man with a clean heart feels himself to be so spiritually
poor. He's spiritually poor. Oh, that's
what David said in verse 1. He said, Oh, have mercy upon
me, O God. According to your lovingkindness,
accord unto the multitude thy tender mercies. Brought out my
transgressions. Oh, God. And he said there in
verse 7, Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me,
and I shall be white as snow. And all the other. He knows himself
to be spiritually poor. He knows that there's only two
things that can make him rich. You know what can make him rich? Jesus Christ is all I need, all
I need, all I need. He alone is all my plea. He is all I need. You've got to have Him. He becomes
the wealthiest fellow on the planet. You know, to have the
Lord Jesus Christ and all that goes with Him. Because if you
have Him, you get everything that He is. A fellow asked me
the other day, he was asking me, he's going to preach on the
riches of Christ. And he said, he called me to
ask me some questions. And the first thing I said to ask him
is, I said, first thing you need to do is find out how wealthy
Jesus Christ is. How wealthy is He? He said, I want to know about
this. He said, I want to preach on this searchable riches Christ.
I said, well, first of all, it says it's unsearchable. The first
thing you've got to come to the conclusion of is how wealthy
is he? Is he rich enough to do what
you need to be done? Has he got enough grace to give
you some? Has he got enough mercy to give
you some? Got enough power to give it to you? Got enough faith
to keep you in it? Is he wealthy? How wealthy is
he? If you ever ask that question, you'll have no problem preaching
on the unsearchable riches of Christ. And, oh, beloved, it's
to have the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul said, I want to be found
in Him. Not having my own righteousness,
but the righteousness of God, which is by faith in Him. Oh,
beloved, for Him to be ours and us to be His. If you've got Christ,
you've got everything that God has for you. I mean, God gave
you everything when He gave you Christ. And then second thing
is, is that to have saving faith. Saving faith in Him. Saving faith. Or to believe Him. To have Him,
to believe Him, to look to Him, to trust Him. I'm going to show
you a thing. I don't mean to take lessons
from... I ain't took very long yet. It just seems like a long
time. Look over in Matthew 15 with me real quick. I'm going
to show you something here about saving faith, looking to Christ,
trusting Christ. Matthew 15. You know, to have the Lord Jesus,
to have Him, and oh, if you have Christ, His
wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption, everything we
need is in Him. All spiritual blessings are in
Him. But look what he said here in Matthew 15, 21. Then Jesus
went this, and departed into the coast of Tyre and Sidon.
And behold, a woman of Canaan, out of a cursed, cursed people,
came out of the same coast, and cried unto him, saying, Have
mercy on me, O Lord, son of David! My daughter is grievously vexed
with the devil. Oh, my, grievously vexed with
the devil. But he answered her not a word.
Now, he's listening. You say, Jesus will receive you
and hear you any time. Well, here's a woman he didn't.
He's going to break her heart. He's going to break her spirit.
He's going to make her want him more than anything in this world.
Now, listen to him. He didn't answer her a word.
Now, his disciples came and besought him and said, send her away.
She's crying after us. She just keeps following us and
crying out, crying out. But he answered and said, I'm
not sent but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then
came she, watch this now, and worshipped him, saying, Lord,
help me. But he answered and said, it's
not meet, it's not fit, it's not right that I should take
the children's bread and cast it to dogs. He just got through
calling her a dog. When he did say something to
her, he said, she's a dog. You're a dog! And, oh, she would
have said, well, I'm not this pet dog again. I'm going to go
away. He's not going to call me anything
but a dog. What does she say? This is this
broken, contrite heart. She said, truth, Lord, you're
exactly right. Whatever you do is right. You
have the dogs. Either the crumbs which fall
from the Master's table, and that's all I care about. If I
can just have just a little of you and what you've got and your
power and your grace, that'll be enough. Then our Lord answered
and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith. Be it unto thee
even as you will. And her daughter was made whole
from that very hour. Oh my, that's what it is to be
broken and have that saving faith in Him. And then a man with a
clean heart cries out. He cries out to the Lord Jesus
for cleansing, for healing, for mercy. Cries out over his pitiful
condition. And last of all, look in Isaiah
66, and I'm done. Isaiah 66. Oh God, create in
me a clean heart and a right spirit. Create it. Oh God, I need you to do it.
I can't change my heart. I can't cleanse my own heart. So cleanse me, create in me a
heart, new heart, clean heart, right spirit, good right spirit. And then a man with a clean heart
and a broken spirit trembles at the Word of God. Thus saith
the Lord, the heaven is my throne, the earth is my footstool. Where
is the house that you will build unto me, and where is the place
of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all
those things have been, saith the Lord. But to this man will
I look at, I'll look on him, I'll consider him, I'll say his
mind, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and
trembles at my word." I need your Word. I've got to
have your Word. I can do without a lot of things
in this world, but one thing I can't do, I can't do without
the Gospel. I can't do without a Bible. I can't do without the
Word of God. Does the Word move your heart?
Do you tremble and stand in awe of it? Do you? You know how God cleans the heart? by the spirit of truth, rather
than to abound always to thank God for you, because he hath
from the beginning chosen you unto salvation through sanctification
of spirit and belief in the truth, being born again, not of corruptible
seed, but incorruptible by the word of God, which liveth and
abideth forever. And this is the word that purifies
your heart unto an unfailing love of God, purifies it. And
oh, God does something for our heart. That's where the issue's
at. It's a heart issue. It's a heart issue. That's why
it can't be nothing else but a heart issue.
