The sermon titled "All Power" by Joe Galuszek centers around the authority of Jesus Christ as highlighted in Matthew 28:16-20, often referred to as the Great Commission. Galuszek emphasizes that all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus, asserting His divine authority and sovereignty (Matthew 28:18). He supports his assertions with references to other Scriptures, such as Daniel 4:35 and Hebrews 13:5, to reinforce that Christ's reign is absolute and encompasses both the spiritual and earthly realms. The significance of this doctrine lies in the call to action for believers to evangelize and teach all nations about Christ and His commandments, reflecting the necessity of acknowledging His power in the life of the believer and the ongoing need for discipleship and faith in His presence.

Key Quotes

“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

“If he's got all power, you don't have any. You don't have any, you don't have any, and I don't have any.”

“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ and he shall reign forever and ever.”

“He said, I'll never leave thee. Never leave thee. Never forsake thee.”

What does the Bible say about the power of Jesus?

The Bible states that all power has been given to Jesus in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18).

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus declares, 'All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.' This powerful statement emphasizes Christ's authority not just on earth, but also in the heavenly realms. This authority is derived from the Father, and it confirms Jesus as the sovereign ruler over all creation. It reassures believers that He possesses the ultimate power to forgive sins and grant eternal life to those whom the Father has given to Him, demonstrating His divine nature and sovereignty.

Matthew 28:18, Luke 22:69, John 10:30

How do we know Jesus has all power?

We know Jesus has all power because He himself stated it in Matthew 28:18 and it is affirmed throughout Scripture.

Jesus explicitly claims in Matthew 28:18, 'All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.' This claim is not merely a title; it is a testament to His divine authority and nature. Furthermore, the testimony of the Scriptures consistently supports His power—whether it be through His ability to perform miracles, forgive sins, or His promise to be with His followers always (Matthew 28:20). The unity of His authority with that of the Father, as mentioned in John 10:30, further underscores that Jesus is not just a messenger but indeed God manifest in the flesh.

Matthew 28:18, John 10:30, Hebrews 13:5

Why is the power of God important for Christians?

The power of God is crucial for Christians as it assures them of His sovereignty and His ability to effectively accomplish His purpose.

Understanding the power of God is fundamental to the Christian faith because it assures believers that God is in control and His plans will not fail. As expressed in Daniel 4:35, 'He doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand.' This realization encourages Christians to trust in God's wisdom and power, especially during challenging times. Furthermore, the power of God equips believers for good works and empowers their lives according to His purpose, ensuring that He will never forsake them (Hebrews 13:5). This offers deep hope and assurance that God is actively involved in the lives of His people.

Daniel 4:35, Hebrews 13:5, John 6:39-40

Sovereign Grace Chapel, located
at 135 Annabel Lane in Beaver, West Virginia, invites you to
listen to a gospel message concerning Jesus Christ our Lord. I'm going to be in Matthew chapter
28, the last chapter of Matthew, and I want to read the, I guess
the last five verses, this paragraph, beginning in verse 16 of Matthew
28. Then the 11 disciples went away into
Galilee into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And
when they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto
them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Ghost. teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world. Amen. I like that. I was looking for a quote on
the power of God. You may have noticed, I like
some old quotes from old preachers. Well, this is a personal thing,
but I like to see what we're teaching now has been taught
for hundreds of years by other preachers from this very same
word, right? And here's one I found. It's
by John Newton. And this is good, it's very short,
but it's very, very to the point. Here it is. What thou wilt, when
thou wilt, how thou wilt. That's it. I like that, I do. I mean, seriously, I was talking
to Deb the other day, it's like from his songs, John Newton's
songs, and from other things that he's wrote that I've read,
I believe John Newton knew the same God that I know. And he knows the same God, he
knew the same, well, he knows the same God that we preach here. Because to be honest, the only
real prayer I know to give is thy will be done. Because it
will. It will, I guarantee that. But I wanna begin in verse 18. And Jesus came and spake unto
them saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Okay. All power is given unto me, all
power. So where is Jesus Christ right
now? Simple question, profound answer.
Luke 22 and verse 69, Christ himself told us, hereafter shall
the son of man sit on the right hand, what? Of the power of God. That's where he is right now.
He sits on the right hand of the majesty on high, the scripture
tells us, but here he says he's gonna be sitting at the right
hand of the power of God. And when he says all power is
given unto me, the one who gave it is the father. The one whose
will he came to do while he was on this earth. And he sits on
his right hand and he said it himself while he was on earth. The son of man has power on earth,
what? To forgive sins. Now a lot of that stuff kinda
upsets some of the Jews. Because here's the fact, from
the scripture, the only person who has power to forgive sins
is God. And Jesus Christ is God. And this upset them. But you
know what? What upsets the religious a lot
of times makes me very happy. It makes me incredibly happy.
He has the power, you know? It's one thing, I wish I could
forgive sins, but I don't have any power. You may wish you could
forgive your sins or somebody else's sins, but you don't have
the power either. He's got the power. It's been
given to him. Jesus says this, speaking of
the Father when he said it, as thou, the Father, hast given
him power over all flesh, flesh, that he should give eternal life
to as many as thou hast given him. Jesus Christ is God manifest
in the flesh. He was God manifest in the flesh,
and he still is. He still is. And he still has,
right now, all power. All power. Oh, I like that, I
do. And he gives eternal life, still
right now to this day and into the future, to those that the
Father has given to him. Oh, and guess what? He forgives sins. He forgives
sins. If you've got a sin problem,
I know who to talk to. I know who to tell you to go
talk to. Don't talk to me. Don't talk to Walter. Don't talk
to Paul. Don't talk to any other preacher. Talk to Jesus Christ. He's Lord. He's Lord, and he
has the power All power has been given to him. Oh, I like that.
Now, he forgives sins. He gives, now hear it, to his
people. He gives eternal life. He gives faith. He gives repentance. It's granted. Oh, I like that. himself as his peace. And here's one more for you.
He gives good works. He gives good works. Oh, you're
ordained unto him. If you're one of his, you're
ordained unto good works. And he'll see to it you do them.
He'll put in you both the will and to do, what, of his good
pleasure. Oh, I like, he's got all power.
He's got all power, folks. And here's the thing that most
people don't quite get. They might say Jesus has power,
Jesus has all power, but here's the thing. If he's got all power,
you don't have any. You don't have any, you don't
have any, and I don't have any. He's got it all. Oh, I like that. Because you understand, if I
had it, I'd misuse it. It was... I can't remember which
one of them said it, but I was reading one of these old quotes
and it said, if I could change his plan, all I would do is mess
it up. Because you understand, it's
perfect. He's got all the power. He's got all the wisdom, all
the glory, and all the honor. Why? Because he deserves it. and his plan is just as perfect
as he is. His purpose is just as perfect
as he is, and he's got the power, oh, to see it through, to see
it through. Oh my. So what is the Son of
God doing? Well, I can tell you this. He's
doing the same thing he's always done. Daniel 4 and 35 put it
this way. And all the inhabitants of the
earth are reputed as nothing. And he doeth according to his
will. In the army of heaven, what?
And among the inhabitants of the earth. And none can stay
his hand or say unto him, what doest thou? What's that mean? All power is given unto Christ
in heaven and in earth. and he does his will, and it's
the will of the Father. Oh, I like that. Some don't understand. We just sang that song. Glory,
honor, and salvation. Christ the Lord is come to reign,
to reign, to rule. And some people don't get it,
some people don't understand it, and some just don't want
it. But here's the question, or here's
the statement. It doesn't matter what you want.
This is what you're gonna get. One way or another, you're gonna
get it. Because I'm speaking of Jesus Christ. It's God that
matters, not us, not us. Oh my. But why do we have these
discrepancies with other people, these disagreements? Well, Jesus
answered some and said unto them, you do err. Why? Not knowing the scriptures,
nor what? The power of God. I've got the power. Christ has
the power. That's what he said. I've been
what? Given, all power is given unto
me. in heaven and in earth. Oh, I
like that. And people err because they don't
know the scriptures. And people certainly err because
they don't know the power of God. Man doesn't know. I'm gonna tell you this right
now. Man knows very, very little of true power. True power. Because here it is. God speaks. And it's so. Matter of fact, Christ thinks
it, it's so. It happens. Whatever it is. His word is never voided. Voided. It accomplishes. I love this. It accomplishes
that where unto I sent it. Now you understand, it talks
about preachers and their messages being the savor of death unto
death to some, and the savor of life unto life. The very same
preacher, the very same message means two different things to
two different people. And you know what? That's not
voided. That's what was supposed to happen.
It accomplishes where unto I sent it. And that's what that means.
Whether it's to one's eternal salvation, whether it's to one's
eternal life, whether he uses the gospel preach to bring the
believing soul to himself. You gotta hear of him and you'll
believe it if you're a believer, if he's given you life. But if
you don't and you don't have life, you're not gonna believe. Oh, from the beginning. I love it. He declared the end. And the foundation stands sure. The Lord knoweth them that are
his. Nobody else knows. We may have
a good hope, we may think good thoughts, but I don't know. Some
days I'm not sure about me. I worry, I doubt. It's our makeup. But listen,
he knows, he knows, oh my. And he will open his word to
his people. He'll give them an understanding
of the scriptures. And he said, if you want to be
my disciple, continue in my word. Then are you a disciple indeed. But from the beginning he declared
the end, and here's the end. He'll still have all power. He
still has all power. And it says in heaven and in
earth. What's he doing with it? Revelations
11 and 15 says this. And the seventh angel sounded
and there were great voices in the heaven saying, the kingdoms
of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his
Christ and he shall what? Reign. Reign forever and ever. Forever and ever. Now I'm not
gonna tell you right now I think the seventh angel sounded or
anything like that but I can tell you this, right now, Jesus
Christ has all power. Right now, Jesus Christ is reigning. Reigning. Because this, I can
tell you, he's the same yesterday, and today, and forever. And he is king of kings. And he is lord of lords. And he reigns. He reigns, oh
my. That's good news, folks. Oh, and here it is. There's something
we're supposed to do with this good news. Verse 19, go ye therefore
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son of the Holy Ghost. Teach all nations. What are we gonna teach all nations?
We'll teach all nations that Christ has all power. You understand? Teach all nations. We are to
preach to all who will hear, who will listen. Believers, in
a sense, it does say come out from among him and be ye separate,
O my people. But as far as the preaching of
the gospel goes, there's no discrimination. You preach. And let the sower
goes forth to sow in that field, and he sows good seed, The seed's
supposed to be good. The word is supposed to be true.
The gospel is to be pure. The pure, unadulterated gospel
that Jesus Christ is Lord and he has all power, and he saves
whom he will. But here it is. You preach it,
you throw it. The sower throws it out, and
it lands on good ground, but it lands on stony ground. It
lands on the wayside, and it lands... You just preach it. Teach all nations. I like that. Because here it is, this man
was a Jew speaking to other Jews and he was talking about preaching
to the Gentiles. That's what I mean, all nations.
Don't just hang around here. Go forth and preach all nations.
All nations. We preach to sinners. Believing
sinners and unbelieving sinners. I don't know, because all believers
are believing sinners, and we're gonna be sinners until we wake
in his light, in his likeness, excuse me. But here it is. It says, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost. baptize them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost. Christ said it, John 10
30, I'm fond of quoting it, I and my Father are one. I can't explain the Trinity.
Luckily I don't have to. But I can believe it. By his
grace I can believe it. The triune God, is real, is real. And our Lord is one God. This is true. I understand this
may not make any sense to an unbeliever, but that don't make
it false. What is the saying? I wrote it
down here. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I can't prove anything. Faith
is the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the evidence of things
not seen. Teach all nations, that's what
he said. And that's what we've done, and
that's what we do. This little broadcast here goes
around the world. to places like Australia and
Singapore and Belgium and Canada and America. Teach all nations,
he that believes and is baptized will be saved. That's what he
said also in Mark. But he also said this, he that
does not believe shall be damned, shall be damned. Oh my. Then he says, teaching them to
observe all things. Whatsoever I have commanded you,
teach them all things I have commanded you. What are the commandments
of Christ? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Believe the Lord Jesus Christ. Trust him. Love him. Believe his word. Believe his
word. And also, Love the brethren. Love the brethren. Those that
are begotten of God are our brethren. Our brothers and sisters in Christ. And we are to love them. And
we are to love each other. I'll put this in here. Pray to
the Father in the name of the Son. He told us to do that. Teach
all things that Jesus has said. Everything in this scripture
is profitable for doctrine and reproof and rebuke and exhortation. You have not chosen me, but I
have chosen you. Teach that, teach that. Most people don't know that's
it there. They think they choose God and then God chooses them.
That ain't the way it works. He said, you didn't choose me.
You did not choose me, but I have chosen you. Oh my, why? He's the one with the power,
not you. He's the one with the power. Oh, I like that. Here, the Lord's commands to
his people are not arbitrary appointments, but that so far
as they are conscientiously complied with, they have an evident tendency
and suitableness to promote our own advantage. That sounds good,
doesn't it? That's John Newton. He requires
us to acknowledge him. for our own sakes, for our own
sakes. Not because he has need of our
poor services, but because we have need of his blessing. And without the influence of
his grace, which is promised to all who seek it, we are sure
to be unhappy in ourselves and in all our connections without without trusting God, you're
gonna be unhappy. If in this life only we have
hope, we are of all men most miserable. That's what Paul said. Christ's commandments are for
us, just as God is for us. Our good, and most of all, his
glory, Teach them all things he has said. And then the last
thing here I wanna talk about. All times. We've talked about
all power, talked about all nations, and all things, but now all times. And what is that? I am with you always. Oh, I like
that. As we write it now, my computer
give me an error when I put that in there, always. But the word
says always. I am with you always. Hebrews
13 and verse five says this, let your conversation be without
covetousness and be content with such things as ye have for he
has said, I will never leave thee. nor forsake thee. Understand, people forsake each
other all the time. It happens. You've seen it, I've
seen it. It's happened to me. People have
forsook me. Won't have anything to do with
me anymore. I can't necessarily blame them. But he never will. Christ never will. He's got all
power. He's got all power. And he said, I will never leave
thee. Never leave thee. Never forsake
thee. That's a comfort. That's a comfort. Oh my, you know, this is the
thing. My health will forsake me. My mind may forsake me. But he never will. He never will. Oh, I like that, I do. Because
here's the thing. Where is Christ Jesus? Well,
he's in every one of his people. Christ in you. The hope of glory. The hope of glory. Oh, I like
that. He's in his people. What? Always. Always. Oh, I like that. And
it says, even unto the end of the world. He said, I'll raise
them up. Matter of fact, four times, I
just looked this up, four times in John chapter six, he says,
I will raise them up, what? At the last day. John 639 and
640, and this is the Father's will which is sent me that of
all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing but should raise
it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that
sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth
on him, may have everlasting life, and I will raise him up
at the last day. Then he says twice more in John
six. In John 44, 644, and 654. I think
he's gonna do it. What do you think? He's promised it. Right here,
you read this. The word came out of his mouth. It's not returning unto him void. He has all power. He said it,
he'll do it. Oh my, I like that. You know,
this is the kind of thing you can say when you have all power. All power. Oh, I like that. Christ is with us, in us, his
people, all way, all way, unto the end of the world. Oh, my. And at the end, what do you say
to that, Walter? Amen.
