What does the Bible say about God's love for His people?

The Bible reveals that God demonstrates His unfailing love for His people by choosing and redeeming them, even before the foundation of the world.

Scripture shows that God's love is steadfast and purposeful. In Deuteronomy 7:7-8, it's clear that God chose Israel not because of their number or strength but because of His love for them and the oath He made to their forefathers. This demonstrates God's sovereign choice in loving His people. Furthermore, Romans 5:8 illustrates this love vividly as God commends His love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, showing that the love of God is unconditional and sacrificial, aimed at our ultimate redemption.

Deuteronomy 7:7-8, Romans 5:8

How do we know God's promises are true?

God's promises are proven true through His faithfulness, as evidenced in the Scripture and His covenant with His people.

The assurance of God's promises rests in His unchanging nature and faithfulness. Not only does Scripture remind us of His promises—such as in Isaiah 43:4 where He claims His people as precious—but it also reveals His consistent track record of fulfilling what He declares. Romans 8:28 further assures us that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose, thereby affirming that God orchestrates every event in accordance with His divine promises. This offers deep encouragement to believers, as the faithfulness of God assures us of His commitment to fulfill His word.

Isaiah 43:4, Romans 8:28

Why is communion with God important for Christians?

Communion with God is vital for Christians as it fosters a deepening relationship, allowing believers to experience His love and guidance.

The significance of communion with God cannot be overstated. It is within this intimate relationship that believers feel His presence and hear His voice guiding their lives. Revelation 3:20 illustrates that Christ stands at the door and knocks, inviting His people to enter into fellowship with Him. This invitation is not merely a hopeful plea but demonstrates His unwavering desire to connect with those He loves intimately. Furthermore, such communion results in a transformative process where believers are corrected and guided, reflecting God's fatherly love and discipline. Therefore, fellowship with God becomes the foundation for growth in grace and knowledge, resulting in a more profound understanding of our identity and purpose in Him.

Welcome, friends, to another
broadcast of Morsels for Zion's Poor. The inheritance of the
Lord Jesus Christ is not that which he has received without
labor. The scriptures speak of the redemption of the purchased
possession. He has purchased his own inheritance with his
life's blood, even though that inheritance was given him before
the foundation of the world. The psalmist describes the purpose
of the father in giving a people to him before this time world
ever began by saying, Jacob's love for Rachel caused him to
work for Laban for an extra seven years in order that he might
purchase her unto himself as a bride. This is the same sort of love
that God spoke of to the nation of Israel as they stood as a
type and foreshadow of that true Israel, which is the apple of
his eye. For thou art an holy people unto
the Lord thy God. The Lord thy God hath chosen
thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that
are upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set His love
upon you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than
any people. For you were the fewest of all
people. But because the Lord loved you, and because He would
keep the oath which He had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord
brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of
the house of bondmen. So indeed the Lord has given
himself for the life of that inheritance or possession which
has always been his. For scarcely for a righteous
man will one die, yet peradventure for a good man some would even
dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward
us, and while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. He has demonstrated
His unfailing love for His bride by continually desiring and designing
her benefit. And we know that all things work
together for good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to His purpose. He has ordained everything that
comes to pass in order that His people might receive an ultimate
blessing from those events. for which cause we faint not,
but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed
day by day. For our light affliction, which
is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and
eternal weight of glory. Sometimes he brings his people
by a way which they knew not, and even along the path they
would not wish to tread. But he daily loatheth us with
benefits, even the God of our salvation. Every step his people
have taken from the time that they have sprung from their mother's
womb have been ordered to result in their best interest. Yea,
even before they were born, he has ordered the steps of all
mankind that he might manifest his great delight in his elect,
in bringing them into the world at the precise moment that he
intended. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honorable,
and I have loved thee. Therefore will I give men for
thee and people for thy life. Fear not, for I am with thee.
I will bring thy seed from the east and gather thee from the
west. I will say to the north, give up, and to the south, keep
not back. Bring my sons from far and my daughters from the
ends of the earth, even every one that is called by my name.
For I have created him for my glory. I have formed him. Yea,
I have made him. He has demonstrated his unfailing
love for his bride by continually desiring and calling her to communion
with him. Behold, I stand at the door and
knock. If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come
in to him and will sup with him and he with me. Many modern-day
evangelists, so-called, have misused and misapplied this scripture
as though it was the ineffectual pleading of a Savior just hoping
someone might respond to his invitation. Such is not the case. He is not here pleading with
men in general, but setting forth in no uncertain terms his intention
of drawing his people unto himself, that he might indeed sup with
them and they with him. For whom the Lord loveth, he
correcteth, even as a father of the son in whom he delighteth.
His faithfulness shall not fail in any wise to bring his own
to a place where friend holds fellowship with friend. He desires
communion with those whom he loves and will not be turned
aside in his desire. He has demonstrated his unfailing
love for his bride by ultimately taking possession of her. We
have supped with him in the twilight and walked with him in the cool
of the morning mist. We have heard his voice as he
put his hand in by the door. But there is coming a day when
faith shall be sight, and that which we have seen through a
glass darkly we shall see in the light of the noonday sun.
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit
of the vine until that day when I drank it new with you in my
Father's kingdom. And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that
where I am, there ye may be also. If it were not so, he would have
told us. For a free CD containing 15 of
