John chapter 14. I don't have
a real innovative title for the message. The way, the truth,
the life. Taken from our Lord's statement
in verse 6 that He said about Himself. I am the way. I am the
truth. I am the life. Those are all
one-syllable words. Everybody understands Every word
our Lord said. There is an infinite message
of mercy and grace found in those one syllable words. Only God
could do that. Only God could declare an infinite
message with one syllable words. I can't even talk about it with
one syllable words. This is God's gospel. Now, our
Lord just told his disciples he's going to go away. And he
goes away, he will prepare them for a place, and he's going to
go and prepare a place for them. And he assured their troubled
hearts, I will come again and receive you to myself, that where
I am, there you may be also. And look what he tells them in
verse 4. And whither I go, ye know, and the way ye know. Now,
in a way, our Lord is telling them the future here. He's telling
them you will know the way. They already do know the way,
because they do know Christ. They do believe Christ. But He's
telling them, your faith is weak. Your knowledge is in part. We
understand that. We'd have the same troubled hearts
and the same questions that these disciples did if we were there.
Because our knowledge is in part, our faith is weak. But our Lord's
telling them, you're going to learn some more. And then you're
going to know the way more clearly, perfectly. You'll know the way. after I'm crucified and I die
and I'm buried and I rise again, you'll know the way clearly because
I just showed it to you. Then you'll see, you'll fully
understand, you'll fully believe. After you see me suffer and die,
rise again to send back to my Father, everything will be clear
to you because I've revealed myself to you. This is much more
clear to you and me. We know the way because The Lord
revealed himself to us who believe, and it's easier for us to see
on this side of the cross than it was for the disciples right
on the other side of the cross. We see the finished work of Christ.
They didn't see that yet. But our Lord said, after you
see it, you'll fully understand, you'll fully believe. And Thomas,
he said the same thing I'd have said. Thomas saith unto him,
Lord, we know not whither thou goest, and how can we know the
way? Now, Thomas and the rest of the
disciples must have still thought the Lord is going to set up an
earthly kingdom. And he wanted to know what city are you setting
up this kingdom in? What's the address so I can find
it on a map? You just give me the address.
I'll put it in my GPS and I'll find the way. That's what he
wanted to know. They're still looking for a place.
They're looking for a person. They're looking for rewards,
an earthly kingdom. But the gospel is a person. Not
places, not rewards, not doctrines, the gospels of person. That's
what our Lord's telling them. And they should have known better.
They should have known better than at this point to think,
to still think the Lord's going to set up an earthly kingdom.
He's told them too many times that's not what he's going to
do. His kingdom is a spiritual kingdom, not an earthly kingdom.
But they didn't listen, did they? You know, we'd be amazed what
we learned. if we just listen. Listening
is such a good skill to have. And listening doesn't mean being
quiet while the other person's talking. It means actually listening
and processing what they're saying. The disciples were guilty of
what I see happen. I can't tell you how many times
I've seen this happen. Two people are talking. But they're
not having a real conversation. They're having two different
conversations. When one person's talking, this one's not listening.
This one, he's being quiet, but he's not listening. He's thinking
about what he wants to say next and what he wants to talk about.
And as soon as this fella takes a breath, this one jumps in,
starts talking, saying something completely unrelated to what
his friend is saying. They're having two different
conversations. But, completely undeterred, this fella, he's
not listening, he's being quiet, he's just thinking about what
he wants to say. As soon as his friend takes a breath, he jumps
in and starts talking. saying something completely unrelated.
And if either of them was really listening, they'd learn something
and they'd have a real conversation. They'd probably be able to help
one another. Now, that's not just good advice on how to be
a good conversationalist. It's good advice on how to listen
to preaching, too. We covered, touched on this in
the lesson this morning. Our Lord is speaking to you and
me through his word. just as plainly as he was speaking
to his disciples 2,000 years ago. Now, are we listening any
better than they did? Are we? All of our fears and
all of our doubts and all of our unbelief comes from a lack
of knowledge and a lack of belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. A lack
of knowledge of who He is. And He's telling us who He is.
Are we listening? I've heard it said, As long as
I can remember, we're the most well-taught people on earth.
And we should be. Now, we should be the most well-taught
people because of all the great preaching that we've heard over
the years. But my question is, are we? Are we that well-taught? Have we really listened? All
the great preaching we've heard, have we really listened? Could
a false prophet come and deceive us by using the right terminology
and the right jargon and impress us with knowledge of things,
you know, maybe that we hadn't heard or we don't know? Could
that happen? Well, it could if we're not well taught. It could
if we haven't really listened. That's a good matter for prayer,
isn't it? To pray, Lord, deliver me from that. Look at verse 14. Here's some comfort. If you shall
ask anything in my name, I will do it. I will cover this, Lord
willing, next Sunday. But if you ask anything in my
name for my glory, I'll do it. My prayer is, Lord, in your name,
for the glory of your name, make us hearers and doers of the Word. Let us listen. Apply the Word
to our heart for your glory. Thomas doesn't know. And look
what our Lord says in verse 6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the
way, I am the truth, I am the life. No man cometh unto the
Father but by me. Now this is three of the great
I am's in John's Gospel that tell us Christ is all. I am the bread of life. If you're
going to eat spiritual food, He is that bread of life. I'm
the light of the world. If you're going to see, it's
going to be in Him. I am the light of the world. I am the
door. If you're going to enter in,
it's going to be in Christ the door. He is the door. I'm the
good shepherd. If anybody's going to keep you
from wandering off and drowning in deep water or falling off
a cliff, it's going to be Christ. He is the good shepherd. I am
the resurrection and the life. And now he says I'm the way.
I am the truth and I am the light. Now, why is this so important?
Well, when you put these three together, the way, the truth,
and the life, you see Christ the second Adam restoring everything
man lost in the first Adam. Before Adam fell, he had communion
with God. He walked with God to cool the
day. He knew where to find God. Adam knew the way. Adam knew
God. God was Adam's friend. He knew God in truth. He had
the truth. And Adam had life. He had spiritual
life. But the moment Adam disobeyed
God, he lost all three. All three of those things. And
we lost those things in Adam. He's our father. He was our representative. When Adam fell, we lost the way
to God. Adam was thrust out of the garden,
and God put an angel with a flaming sword that turned every way to
keep, he couldn't do an end around. No matter which way Adam tried
to come, he could not get back into the garden. He couldn't
get to the tree of life. That angel was stopping him.
The way to God was lost. Adam never walked with God in
the cool of day again. The way to God was lost. When
Adam fell, all men lost the truth. Adam believed Satan's lie and
today men are doing the exact same thing. We'd rather believe
a lie and be damned than receive the love of the truth. Because
we lost the truth in Adam. And Adam showed us he lost the
truth. He tried to cover his nakedness with fig leaves. He
lost the truth. He wouldn't beg God for mercy.
Instead, I'll show you how much Adam lost the truth. He blamed
God for his own sin. He lost the truth. And we lost
it in him. When Adam fell, he'd have lost
life. And all men lost life in him.
We all died in Adam. God said, Adam, in the day you
eat of this fruit, thou shalt surely die. And God kept his
word. Now, Adam kept physical life
for a while, didn't he? But he lost all spiritual life.
And we see that. But suddenly, Adam hated his
wife. Before then, Adam loved his wife.
Adam even loved his wife so much after she ate that fruit. He
did too, because he'd be with her. He knew she'd be condemned
alone, and he was going to be with her. He loved her. Now he
hates her. Blames her for his sin. And just
to be sure, he deflects all the blame off himself. He blamed
God for his sin. That's dead. I mean, how dead
can you be? Blaming God for sin? And all
of us died in Adam. Why do we blame other people
for stuff we do wrong? We've got Adam's nature. We died
in him. God made me this way, so, you know, it can't be my
fault I sinned. God, you know, he made me a sinner.
Dead. Dead in sins. Because Adam can
only produce more people just like him. That which is born
of the flesh is flesh. So every one of us is born without
spiritual light. And all hope would be lost if
it were not for the Lord Jesus Christ, who came and restored
to his people everything they lost in Adam. We're lost in Adam. We're found in Christ. We're
dead in Adam. We have life in Christ. So here's
these three great I Am's. Number one, I am the way. Now
when Adam lost the way, to God. There's a great gulf fixed between
God and men. And no man can cross that way. It's too great. But Christ spans
the gulf between God and men. Christ is the way to God. He's the only one who can span
that gulf. None of us are like Cain. Cain
was a wanderer. He just wandered in the wilderness.
And that's what we are. We're wandering in the wilderness,
wandering away from God. Because we lost the way. Romans
3, 12 says they're all gone out of the way because we lost the
way. But how can we get back in the
way? How can we get back to God? In Christ the way. Christ is
not just a way to God. It's not like, well, you could
go in Christ, you go some other way or go, no. Christ is the
way to God. Not a way, the way. Christ is
just not an example that shows us the way. Christ is the way. It's not what would Jesus do,
it's he is the way. What he did is the way. He is
the way. Christ is not just a teacher
that tells us about right doctrine. Christ is the way. Christ is
not a teacher who tells us about the way. You know, he tells us
about something we've never seen, like teachers tell us about ancient
Rome. No. Christ is the way. Christ is salvation. If you'd
be saved, find Christ. He is the way. And Christ doesn't
point us to the way to heaven. He doesn't tell us how to get
to heaven. Christ is the way and He is heaven. The Lord Jesus
Christ entered into heaven itself by His own blood. And His people
enter into heaven in Him. I heard Todd Nigert one time
use the illustration of a woman who's pregnant. Here she is pregnant. She goes from this room to the
next. Who else went from this room to the next? That child. Because that child's in her.
Christ went into heaven. And his people went in him. He is the way. Christ is the
way from God to men. We can't go to him. So he came
to us. He is the way from God to men,
and Christ is the way from men to God. Christ is the only one
who satisfies the nature of God, who satisfies God's holiness
and God's justice, and at the same time, He heals the condition
of sinners. So don't look for another way.
Don't look for another way. Look to Christ. He is the way. Now, you kids, I warn you, when
you get a little older, you go off to college, and even when
you're in high school, you hear people, well, these academics,
you know, they're all, oh, they're smart, you know, they scoff at
there being one way. Don't you ever let them turn
your attention, turn your focus, turn your head. Don't look for
another way. Christ is the way. And I got
scripture to back that up. There's a way. There is a way. that seemeth right unto a man."
Well, that makes sense. That makes sense to our natural
mind. There's a way that seems right unto a man, and the end
thereof is a way of death. It might seem right to you. You
go that way, you know what's at the end? It's a way of eternal
death. What that means is this. Every
other way man has devised to go back to God is wrong. That's
what that means. It's a way of death. It's wrong. Every other way other than Christ
is the wrong way with no exceptions and it will lead to death. Look
back at Genesis chapter 6 and I'll show you that. Every other
way other than Christ is wrong. It's not that they have some
good things and some things aren't so good. It's wrong and it leads
to death with no exceptions. Genesis 6 verse 12. And God looked upon the earth,
and behold, it was corrupt. For all flesh had corrupted his
way upon the earth. And what happened to them? They
drowned in the blood, other than those who were in Christ in the
ark. It leads to death every time.
Look at Matthew chapter 7. Matthew 7 verse 13. Enter ye in at the straight gate,
for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction,
and many there be which go in thereat. Because straight is
the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and
few there be that find it." Now, there's a way that leads to death,
and there's a way that leads to life. Well, that broad way
that man has created, it's got plenty of room. Plenty of room
for anybody that wants to come in any way, bringing any of their
works. Plenty of room. And that way
is easy. But it leads to destruction.
It leads to eternal death. But Christ is the narrow way.
Now, what does it mean, Christ is the narrow way? Well, if you're
a sinner, don't think you can't fit. Well, Christ is a narrow
way, so I can't go. Nope. In Christ, there's plenty
of room. Plenty of room. For any sinner
that will enter, as long as he's naked, as long as he brings no
works of his own, there's plenty of room. But you bring one work,
you bring one fig leaf, the price is too narrow, you can't fit.
But if you're a sinner without anything, oh, there's plenty
of room for you. If you rely on Christ alone,
you'll have eternal life. But every other way is the way
of death. And believers are in the way. Every believer is in Christ the
way. They know Christ the way because
they've been taught Christ the way. In Acts 18, Aquila and Priscilla
taught Apollos the way of God more perfectly. All believers
are taught the way of God is Christ. And believers are identified
by being in the way. In Acts 9, Saul desired to kill
and to torture and to throw in prison and arrest anyone who's
found of this way. That's the way you identify believers.
They're in this way. Boy, a lot changed by the time
you get to Acts 24. The Apostle Paul made this statement,
but I confess unto thee that after the way they call heresy,
So I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things that are
written in the law and the prophets. They call this way heresy. I'm
in this way. This is the way to worship God. It's the only way. And if you're
in Christ the way, you see the glory of God, you see the grace
of God, and you know God if you're in the way. Exodus 33, verse
13, Moses said, Now, therefore, I pray thee. I found grace in
Thy sight. Show me now Thy way. Show me Your way that I may know
Thee and find grace in Thy sight." If God showed us the way, if
He's put us in the way, we've seen what Moses saw. We saw His
glory. We saw His grace. And we know Him. Christ is the
way. And what a way! This way is everything
you need. Romans 3.17 calls Christ the
way of peace. 1 Corinthians 10.13 calls Christ
the way to escape. Hebrews 10.20 calls Christ a
new and living way. 2 Peter 2.2 calls Christ the
way of truth. 2 Peter 2.15 calls Christ the
right way. Now I'm telling you there's a
right way and there's a wrong way. One thing that troubles
me so much about our society today is there's no wrong. Everything's
right. There's a right way and there's
a wrong way. Christ is the right way. 2 Peter
2.21 calls Christ the way of righteousness. Adam fell and
all men lost all righteousness in Adam. But Christ is the way
of righteousness. You see, the way of salvation
is not a set of doctrines, is it? It's a person. The way of
salvation is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. And you enter that
way by believing him, by faith in Christ. And once you're in
the way, this is not like a like a long highway, you got to drive
forever to get to Florida or the beach or whatever, you know,
it's not a long way. Once you're in Christ, the way.
You're already there. You're already saved as you ever
will be. The moment you believe Christ,
you're in the way. And you're as righteous as you
ever will be. Moses, at this moment, is in
glory. And if you believe Christ, you're
just as righteous as he is. Because you're in the way. As
a matter of fact, the moment you enter the way, you're already
in heaven. Now, Frank, I'm sitting here
in these chairs. If you believe Christ, you're already in heaven.
Seated there in Christ. Because Christ is already there.
Christ is the way. Why look for another one? He's
the perfect way. The second I am. I am the truth. Now when Adam fell, he lost the
truth. He believed Satan's lie. And man's been in the darkness
of lies and ignorance and error ever since, because we lost the
way in Adam. Scripture says there's none that
understand it. Why doesn't anybody understand?
We lost the truth. When Adam fell, we lost the truth.
But God sent his son as the truth, to be the truth. Now, Christ
is not just true. He's truth. Christ doesn't just
teach truths. Christ is truth. Christ is not
just a teacher that tells us true things, true statements,
true facts, true figures. Christ is truth. And there are
several ways Christ is the truth. First, Christ is the truth of
the gospel. And Christ is the truth of the
gospel because Christ is the gospel. And it's just like the
way. The way is not a set of doctrines.
Well, the truth is not a set of doctrines either. The truth
is a person. Christ. So your knowledge of
doctrinal truths is not what saves you, is it? Isn't that
right? It's knowing Christ the truth that saves. You can be
a five-point Calvinist and not know the Lord. You've got the
right doctrine, but you cannot know the Lord. You can't know
the Lord and not be a five-point Calvinist. Can't be. Because
you arrive at right doctrine through Christ. Christ is the
truth. He's the truth of the gospel. We preach Christ crucified
because he's the truth of the gospel. Second, Christ is the
truth of God. Christ is the revelation of God,
the express, the exact image of his person. All we'll ever
know of God is Christ. Look what he says in verse 9
of our text in John 14. Jesus saith unto him, Have I
been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
He that hath seen me hath seen the Father. And how sayest thou
then, Show us the Father? All we'll ever see of the Father
is Christ. He is the express image of the
Father. He is the truth of the Father. And Christ came to this earth
and He revealed the truth of God. His holiness, His righteousness,
His justice, His mercy, His grace, and His love. We know all that
about the Father for one reason. The truth of Christ. He's the
truth of God. Third, Christ is the truth of
man. Now, we can't see the truth about
ourselves by comparing ourselves with each other. All that is
is one maggot comparing himself to another maggot. It's just
like being in an under six basketball league. When I was in college,
I got an under six basketball league. I could post everybody
up. Well, don't be deluded thinking you can do that when you go up
against a six foot nine guy. Don't compare yourselves with
these other peons. The only way we can know the
truth about ourselves is comparing ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ. And once I see Christ, I've got
no problem understanding I'm totally depraved. Now I see. Now I see myself and I abhor
myself. Once I see Christ, I have no
problem understanding I don't have any righteousness. Once
I see Him, Once I see Christ, I know clearly Christ must save
me or I'll be damned. I know I can't do it myself.
He's got to do it or I have no hope. Once I see Christ, I know
this. Christ is my only hope. He's
the Savior of sinners. And then Christ is the truth
of man in this way. We see the truth of man when
we go to the cross, when we see Christ crucified, Then we see
the truth of man. Right before the Lord Jesus went
to the cross, Pilate asked this question. What is truth? What is truth? And their truth
stood right in front of him. And then he sent truth to the
cross where we see the truth of man on full display. This is clearly we see the truth
in Christ crucified. We see how vile and wretched
and how lost we really are. when we see Christ crucified.
At Calvary, we see sin. Oh, now I see sin. Putting the Son of God, putting
life Himself to death, to a cursed death on the tree. At Calvary,
we see what it really takes to put sin away. It's not me not
eating meat on Friday. That can't touch sin. At Calvary,
we see what it takes to put sin away. Christ had to be made sin. He had to bear the curse. He
had to suffer and bleed and die. What it takes to put sin away
is so awful the sun went out. The sun can't look upon it. That's
the only way to put sin away and to satisfy God's law. When
I go to the cross, I see the truth. of the only way a sinner
like me can be saved. It's Christ crucified. He's got
to bear my sin away. He's got to bear my curse away.
Christ is the only way a sinner like me can be saved. And it's
Christ alone. Now, it's not me and Jesus. It's
not the death of Christ and some of my good works. It's Christ
alone. It's salvation. Christ is the
truth of man. And fourth, Christ is the truth
of the scriptures. Christ is the fulfillment of
all the Old Testament types and pictures and shadows. That's
why the Apostle Paul could say that way they call heresy. That's
the way I worship. Believing all that's written
in the law and the prophets. Because Christ is the truth of
the scriptures. He's the fulfillment of all the Old Testament scriptures.
Christ is the true man. He is the bread from heaven that
gives life that can never be lost. You can eat manna and die.
You can't have Christ and die. He's the true manna. Christ is
the true tabernacle. He came and tabernacled among
us to save His people. This is the way you can worship
God. This is the way to go to God
in Christ the true tabernacle. No man can go to the Father but
by Him because He's the true tabernacle. And Christ is the
true Sabbath rest. Oh, you want to rest from all
your labors? It's not just six a day. Christ is our Sabbath rest. He
fulfilled everything for us, and we rest in Him. If you want
to understand any true meaning, the real meaning of any scripture,
you go to Christ. He's the truth of the scripture.
He's what that scripture is referring to. Look in John chapter 1. I'll
show you this. Christ is the truth of the Scripture,
of the Word of God. John 1.14, And the Word was made
flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory
as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Now, the Word, the Word of God,
the Scriptures. was made flesh. And I believe
the scriptures are all about him. Wouldn't you say? If the
scriptures, the word was made flesh, Christ is the truth of
the word. That's all the scriptures. Look
in verse 17. For the law was given by Moses,
but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Truth came by Jesus Christ
because he is the truth of God. Christ is truth. And every other
message is a lie. Every message that does not preach
Christ crucified, Christ alone, it's a lie. Christ is the truth. He is the true and the living
way. And that brings us to the third
I am. I am the life. When Adam fell, Adam died. Adam died and every son of Adam
died in him. When Adam died, we lost the length
of physical life. Adam lived 900 years. We don't
live near that long. We lost the length of physical
life. We lost the strength of physical life. I did precious
little yard work yesterday. We're going to paint our porch. I started scraping a little bit,
just for a few minutes. I am sore today. It's just, oh
my goodness. We've lost the strength of physical
life because of sin. And we lost all spiritual life
when Adam fell, when he died. And men have been born dead in
sins ever since Adam fell. And we all live and we die physically
in sins unless Christ comes to us and gives us His life because
He is the life. Now, Christ is more than the
great physician who fixes us up. He doesn't put some life
back into your flesh. He doesn't make your flesh so
it can generate some life. Christ is the life. He is our
life. Look at Colossians chapter 3.
Christ is a whole lot more than the one who gives us life. Christ
is life itself. Colossians 3 verse 2. Set your affection, set your
mind on things above, not on things of the earth, for you're
dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Now, why is my
life hid with Christ? Verse 4, when Christ, who is
our life, He is our life. That's why my life is hid with
Him, because He is our life. When He shall appear, then shall
ye also appear with Him in glory. And we'll appear with Him in
glory, Because He made us perfect. Because He gave us His life.
I shall appear with Christ in glory because the Lord Jesus
Christ took my sinful, corrupt life. He took my dead life and
He gave me His life. He took my guilt, my life of
guilt, my life of corruption, my life of rebellion, and He
gave me His life of innocence. Christ is my life. And if you believe Christ, if
you're in the way, He's your life too. And if you want to
read the life's account of any believer, all you've got to do
is read the four Gospels. What Christ did, every believer
did. When He obeyed, we obeyed. When He was perfect, we were
perfect. When He was righteous, we were righteous. Because He
is our life. We have spiritual life. A believer
has spiritual life. Because Christ, the life, is
formed in our souls in the new birth. Christ is life. And I'll tell you what that means.
Everything else is death. Everything. That's why Paul said,
don't set your affection on these things. Because everything else
is death. It leads to death. It brings
death. Every other message, every other hope, every other idea
is death. It's a dead idea, it's a dead
hope, it's a dead message, and it will lead you to eternal death.
But Christ is the new and the living way, as opposed to the
way of death by the law. Now what are you going to do
with that life? I'm going to tell you what you'll do. I'll
tell you what life does. Life comes to Christ. Look at
Hebrews chapter 10. If you come to Christ, It's because
he gave you life. He is your life. Hebrews 10, verse 18. Now, where remission of these
is, there's no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren,
boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new
and living way, which he hath consecrated, he is open for us
through the veil. That is to say, his debt is flesh,
and hath made an high priest. And having an high priest over
the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart and full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. And let us hold
fast the profession of our faith without wavering. For he is faithful
that promised. If he gives us life, we'll come
to him through that he is the new and living way. by having
you turn to Romans chapter 3. Romans chapter 3. This is such
a good illustration of losing the way, the truth, and the life,
and having the way, the truth, and the life in Christ. Romans
3 verse 10. As it's written, there is none
righteous, no, not one. There's none that understandeth.
There's none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of
the way. They are together become unprofitable. There is none that doeth good,
no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher. With their tongues they have
used deceit, deploited have asked. What will kill you is under their
lips. Now there it is. In Adam, we
lost the way, the truth, and the life. We lost the way, verse
12. They are all gone out of the
way. They are together become unprofitable. We lost the way.
Verse 11, we lost the truth. There's none that understand
it. There's none that seeketh after God because we lost the
truth. We don't love the truth. In verse 13, we lost the life. We lost the life so completely
our throat is an open grave. Everything in us is death. It's dead. But Christ is everything
we lost in Adam and he's everything that we need. Christ is the way.
He's the truth, and he's the life. Christ is the way of good. There's none that doeth good.
Christ did. He's the way of goodness. Christ
is the truth. In Adam, we lost all understanding.
In Christ, we understand. You understand the scriptures.
You understand how God can save a sinner and still be just and
holy. Because we have Christ, the truth. And in Christ, we
seek God. He says here, none seek after
God. In Christ, we do. Because in
Christ, we seek God because we see the glory of God in the face
of the truth, in the face of the Lord Jesus Christ. And Christ
is the life. His people come out of the grave
that Adam dug for us. Despite the death that's in us,
we have life. Because Christ is our life. He's
formed in our heart. Now, why won't you come to Him?
He's everything you need. The way. He's the truth. And
He's the life. You can only come to the Father
by Christ. He's the only way. But you come
to the Father by Him. Accept it. Christ is the only
mediator between God and man. Come to Christ. you can be heard
because Christ is the mediator. Christ is the highway. We looked
at that Wednesday night. He's the highway who's removed
every obstacle that prevents a sinner from coming to the Father.
You come into the presence of the Father in Christ. So come
to Him. Come to Him. Alright, well, I
hope the Lord will bless that to you. Alright, let's bow in
prayer. Our Father, Lord, our hearts are full of
thanksgiving and love for Thee, that in Your mercy and Your goodness
and Your love for sinners, You'd send Your Son to be made of a
man, to be made of a woman, to be made in the likeness of sinful
flesh, to be our substitute, to be the representative of sinful
men, and in Christ, We have the way because He is the way, the
way to God, the way of salvation, the way of righteousness. In
Christ we have truth. We lost all truth, all understanding
in Adam, but in Christ we have truth because He is the truth. And in Christ we have life. We
have eternal life because He is our life. Human words cannot express our
thanksgiving. That You would make Your own
darling Son to be everything that we need. That we would be
made complete in Him and be accepted in Him. Father, we're thankful. And I pray that You'd apply Your
Word to the hearts of Your people this morning. That You would
apply Christ. That Christ would be formed in
our hearts. That we would go home and meditate
upon these things. Feed upon these things, the things
of our Lord Jesus Christ. And let us believe and love and
cling to a person. Deliver us from clinging to the
motions and ceremony and repetition of religion. But let us cling
to Christ. Let us see Him, worship Him,
preach Him, and love Him. For He is our all and in all.
It is in His precious name we pray and give thanks.
