My text this morning is Daniel
chapter 9 and verse 24. Daniel the 9th chapter and verse
24. Once you've found that, please
turn back to the book of 1 John chapter 4. In Daniel 9, 24, Daniel, writing
by the spirit of inspiration declares
to us six things specifically, six things specifically that
Messiah the Prince would accomplish when he was cut off at Jerusalem
in the midst of the 70th week of his prophecy. He tells us
there are six things Messiah the Prince must and shall accomplish. Any, any, anyone who claims to
be or is represented to be the Messiah who does not accomplish
these six things is a false Christ. He's not the Messiah. Six things,
Messiah the Prince must Shall accomplish now before we look
at our text look at first John chapter 4 John gives us a solemn
solemn warning Beloved believe not every spirit But try the
spirits is talking about preachers just like the one talking to
you now Try the spirits whether they are of God Because many
false prophets are gone out into the world. Now watch this. Hereby ye know the Spirit of
God. Every spirit, every preacher
that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. That Jesus
Christ is come in the flesh. He's of God. Every spirit, every
preacher who tells you that Christ accomplished what God said in
his word that Christ would accomplish. He's of God. Now watch this. And every spirit that confesseth
not. Not everyone who denies. No. There's a lot of folks who don't
just openly deny things spoken of. Many pretend to believe these
things, but they don't dare confess them. Every spirit that confesseth
not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. And this is that spirit of Antichrist,
whereof ye have heard that he should come and even now is already
in the world. All right, let's go back to the
book of Daniel. Daniel 9, 24. Here are the six things that
the prophet Daniel tells us by divine inspiration, Jehovah's
righteous servant, the Christ, the Messiah must accomplish in
his death at Jerusalem. Seventy weeks are determined
upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression,
and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity,
and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and
the prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. Now, before we look
at this text, let's back up to Daniel chapter 3. And let's get
the context of Daniel's prophecy. Back here in the third chapter
of Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar took Daniel's three companions, Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego, and had them cast into a burning, fiery
furnace. Nebuchadnezzar had made a huge
image of gold. And he commanded all the people
in the land to fall down at a given signal and worship that image. Bow down and worship this great
image that I, Nebuchadnezzar, have made. If you don't, if you
don't, I'm going to throw you into a burning and fiery furnace. I won't tolerate any other opinion
about what ought to be done. You will be burned to death.
Nebuchadnezzar had Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego before
him. And he got report that these three Jews taken in the captivity
refused to bow down and worship his image. These three men who
had been so highly promoted in his kingdom. These three men
who had been treated so honorably by him up to this point. Nebuchadnezzar
called Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in and said, boys, now
you know the law. I've commanded that you at a
given signal bow down and worship my image. Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego said, Nebuchadnezzar, we don't have to take a business
meeting about this. We're not gonna worship your image. Is your God
able to deliver you? They said it doesn't matter whether
he delivers or not. We're not going to worship your
image. We're not going to bow down to your image. And so Nebuchadnezzar
was furious. I mean furious. And he had the
furnace heated seven times hotter than it was designed to burn.
And they had Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego bound in their clothes
with their stockings on their feet. And they were bound hand
and foot. And the strongest, mightiest
men in the land took Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and threw
them into this fiery furnace. And when they did, the fire was
so hot that those mighty men were consumed. And a little while
Nebuchadnezzar looked over into the fiery furnace and he said,
how many men did we throw in the furnace? And they said, three. He said, I see seven men walking
or four men walking in that furnace. And one of them is the son of
God. And I don't know exactly how
it was that Nebuchadnezzar knew who that fourth man was. I suspect
I do. God showed him. Let's pick up
the reading in verse 23. And these three men, Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego fell down bound into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king
was astonished and rose up in haste and spake and said unto
his counselors, did not we cast three men bound into the midst
of the fire? They answered and said unto the
king, true, O king. And he answered and said, lo,
I see four men, watch this, loose walking in the midst of the fire
and they have no hurt and The form of the fourth is
like the Son of God Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the
burning fiery furnace and spake and said Shadrach Meshach and
Abednego Ye servants what's this of the Most High God? Nebuchadnezzar
had been all his life worshiping many gods and Calling many things
gods the worshiping his own hands the work of his own hands gods
that he had made for himself And now he realizes this fourth
man in the furnace with Shadrach Meshach and Abednego. He is the
son of God He said Shadrach Meshach and Abednego you servants of
that one who is God the Most High God come forth and come
hither Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth of the
midst of the fire, and the princes, and governors, and captains,
and king's counselors, being gathered together, saw these
men. Now watch this. Upon whose bodies the fire had
no power, nor was a hair of their head singed, neither were their
coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. Then Nebuchadnezzar spake and
said, blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath
sent his angel and delivered his servants that trusted in
him and have changed the king's word and yielded their bodies
that were that they might not serve nor worship any God except
their own God. Therefore, I make a decree. that
every people, nation, and language which speak anything amiss against
the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be cut in
pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill. Now watch
this. Because there is no God other,
there is no other God that can deliver after this sort, then
the king Promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province
of Babylon. Those last words of verse 29
are my subject. There is no other God that can
deliver after this sort. There is no other God that can
deliver after this sort. Idols throughout the scriptures
Read the book of God. I urge you as you read through
the scriptures, make notations of things that you need to be
aware of. Throughout the scriptures, idols
are described as the work of men's hands. Idols are things
that men make. All idolatry, are you listening? All idolatry is the worship yourself. It is man worshipping man, man
worshipping his work, man worshipping his will, man worshipping his
worth, man worshipping himself. And all men who speak of God
in terms other than those which describe what we're reading here
about God's salvation worshiping themselves the work of their
hands there is no other God that can deliver after this sort he
who is God he who is God our Savior saves his people in exactly
the same way as the Lord God delivered Shadrach Meshach and
Abednego out of the fiery furnace what happened here God became
one of them. God stepped into the furnace
with them. God, our God, became us. The Word was made flesh and dwelt
among us. The Lord God in heaven could
not suffer. He's God. No man could ever satisfy
the justice of God for sin. But the God-man both suffered
and satisfied. God became one of us. Not only that, but this God who
became one of us suffered with his people as he suffered for
his people. He suffered with us as he suffered
for us. Now understand this. Larry Brown
must suffer. the fury of the horrid wrath
of God Almighty because of sin you're not gonna get by This
is what God says The soul that sinneth it shall die Not another
the soul that sinneth it shall die When Jesus Christ our Redeemer
suffered the wrath of God in our room instead When he bore
our sins in his body on the tree and god punished him for our
sins He suffered with us and we suffered with him Because
we're one with him Have you got that? We're one with him paul
said I was crucified with christ When christ died I died in him
he who suffered for me, suffered with me in union with me. Not
only that, our Lord Jesus Christ. So thoroughly saves his people
from their sins. That not even the smell of hail
is left upon us. Mark, when God Almighty. Looks
on you. All he sees is his son. Can you get that? Can you get
that? Every now and then, I'll catch
Shelby when she's doing laundry. Even after she washed my shirt,
she'll pick it up, start to iron them. When they come out of the
hot dryer, she'll pick up and smell them because the smell
of the cologne reminds her of me. Paul speaks of our Lord's
sacrifice as the sweet savor of Christ. He takes a whiff of
Don Fortner and says, that's my sod. Not even the smell of the fire
was upon Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And God, our Savior,
so thoroughly put away our sins. has so completely made us the
righteousness of God in him that all he smells in his people is
the sweet savor of Jesus Christ, his son. No wonder he is pleased
with us for he's pleased with his son. This God saves by so
thoroughly saving his elect. that the people saved by his
grace suffer no loss for all their crimes. Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego violated the highest act of treason before the king. They would not worship the God
he made. They would not bow down and worship
And the king said, by decree, you'll die or worship. Shadrach,
Meshach and Abednego broke the law deliberately. Deliberately. Said it was an unjust law. Call
it what you want to. They broke the law deliberately. And they were cast into the burning
fiery furnace. And they didn't suffer any loss. because of the furnace. They
didn't suffer any loss because of their crime. Their clothes
were just like they were when they went in. Their stockings
were just like they were when they went in. Their hair wasn't
even singed. The only thing they lost were
the cords that bound them. And when they came out of the
furnace, they were promoted by the king. That's how our God
saves. He will see to it that you and
I suffer no loss for having sinned. And when we have finished our
time here, when our journey here is over, when our appointed end
has come, The only thing we will lose when we cease to breathe
in these bodies are the cords that bind us. And we shall be
promoted to the glorious liberty of the sons of God. It will be worth it all when
we see Jesus. No loss. And the salvation that's
wrought by our God is such that our great God attaches His name
and His glory to it. Read the first chapter of Ephesians.
Three times he said, He chose us. He predestined us. He redeemed
us. He called us. He saved us to
the praise of the glory of His grace. to the praise of his glory,
to the praise of his glory. He speaks of the children of
Israel, how he again and again delivered them. He said, nevertheless,
he saved them for his namesake. Our God attaches his name and
his glory to the saving of his people. Now, having this revelation
of God's great glory and grace in Christ, in redemption, by a divine substitute, Nebuchadnezzar
said He's I've got to tell everybody about this I've got to tell everybody
what I've experienced. I've got to tell everybody what
wondrous things God's done for me I've got to make everybody
in my kingdom Understand what a great God this God is so we
read in chapter 4 beginning at verse 1 Nebuchadnezzar the king
unto all the people nations and languages and that dwell in all
the earth, peace be multiplied unto you. I thought it good to
show the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought. What's this? Toward me. How great
are his signs and how mighty are his wonders. His kingdom
is an everlasting kingdom. His dominion is from generation
to generation. Now, you know the story of Nebuchadnezzar. You remember last week I showed
you what he experienced in this fourth chapter as it's spoken
of here in this fourth chapter God took Nebuchadnezzar's mind
away from him and he became a raving lunatic For seven years Nebuchadnezzar
was put out of his kingdom and lived like a wild beast in the
fields And then seven years after these seven years of lunacy,
God gave Nebuchadnezzar's mind back to him. He restored him
to his right mind and restored him to his kingdom. I read this
fourth chapter, Daniel, and I always think about Luke 15. The prodigal
son had been out of his mind. He'd been out of his mind. I
see you young people run to your godliness and your lust and your.
I want to be free and independent. You're out of your mind. See,
you older folks serve your own lust. Oh, I've got to get what
I can. You're out of your mind. The
only man who thinks reasonably, the only one who's in his right
mind is one who seeks mercy and grace in Christ Jesus. Nebuchadnezzar
said, God returned my mind to me. He set him back in his kingdom. He taught him who he was and
taught him who God is. Look at verse 34. At the end
of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up mine eyes unto heaven,
and mine understanding returned unto me. And I blessed the Most
High, and I praised and honored him that liveth forever, whose
dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation
to generation. And all the inhabitants of the
earth Are reputed as nothing and he doeth according to his
will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the
earth And none can stay his hand or saying to him what doest thou
verse 37? Now I nebuchadnezzar Praise and
extol and honor the king of heaven all whose works are truth and
his ways judgment And those that walk in pride He is able to abase
Then in chapters five and six, sadly, Nebuchadnezzar's son,
Belshazzar, didn't believe God. Nebuchadnezzar wrote these epistles
so that all the people of the kingdom would know who God is
and know that there is no God that can deliver after this sort.
But his own son paid him no attention. And when Nebuchadnezzar was gone,
Belshazzar threw a hellish party. And he said, somebody go get
me the vessels that my daddy brought back from Jerusalem out
of the temple. And let's get drunk drinking out of the cups
with which these men served God. And in his blasphemy, in his
haughtiness, God Almighty stuck his hand out in the form of a
man and wrote on the wall and said, Belshazzar, You're weighed
in the balances and found wanting and I'm gonna kill you. And Belshazzar
trembled and he died that very night. And then God raised up
a Midian king to take over the empire of Babylon, and this Midian
king, Darius, conquered Babylon and the Chaldeans, and he became
king. This barbaric, heathen Midian
king. He was just as blasphemous as
Belshazzar, but he was an object of grace. He was chosen of God,
chosen of God to be the deliverer of his people out of Babylon.
And so Darius, though he was an old man when he became king
over Babylon, 62 years old, he took a shine to Daniel. And he
promoted Daniel to the highest place of honor in all the kingdom
beneath the king himself. Daniel was made president of
the princes of the kingdom. And Belshazzar, man, he liked
Daniel. He loved Daniel. And everybody
else was envious. Everybody else hated him. Hated
Daniel because Daniel worshipped God and hated Daniel because
Daniel was promoted to be the president of the princes. And
so they hatched a plan. Some of these fellows, they said,
we've got to get Daniel out of the way. We've got to move Daniel
aside. And so they came to Darius and
they said, Darius, we believe that it would be a good thing
If everybody, everybody, for a given time pray to no other
gods, and if they do, you see to it that they're put to death. They're thrown in the lion's
den. And so they did that. They came
to Darius in Daniel chapter 6, and this decree is made, and
Darius said, oh, these fellas, they want to praise me. Man,
they know how to blow smoke up my skirt just the right way.
Like any other good politician, man, I like folks think I'm something.
And so he said, we'll make the law. They said, put your ring
signet right here and stamp it with the law of the Medes and
Persians so it can't be altered. That's a good idea. So he sealed
it with his ring. And they knew what was going
to happen. Came time to pray, and they went
to Daniel's house. Ron, you know how easy it would
have been for Daniel to have saved his life? You know how
easy it would have been for Daniel to have saved his life? All he
had to do was shut the windows. All he had to do was reach behind
him and started praying and pull the shutters too. That's all
he had to do. So nobody could see him. But
Daniel was not ashamed to worship God, even at the hazard of his
life. And he threw the windows open.
And he bowed toward Jerusalem and called on the Lord his God.
And these men came to Darius. Darius, you remember the law
you made? Yes, sir. You boys had a good
idea with that. They said, Daniel's been praying.
Daniel's been praying to Jehovah. Daniel's been calling on his
God. Throw him in the lion's den. And Darius was in a dilemma. I want Daniel to live. But the
law says Daniel's got to die. What shall I do? And he paced
the floor all night long, and at last he threw Daniel into
the lion's den. And he came back to Daniel and
cried to Daniel, is your God able to deliver you? And the
Lord God delivered him. You see, there again is a marvelous
picture of the way our God saves sinners. He saves us because
he found a way to be both just and the justifier of all who
believe. And that way is a substitute. We pass under the sentence of
the law and suffer all the fury of the law in Christ our substitute. Now watch this. We'll pick up
verse 25 of Daniel 6. Then King Darius wrote unto all
the people and nations and languages that dwell in all the earth.
Peace be multiplied unto you. I make a decree that in every
dominion of my kingdom men tremble in fear before the God of Daniel,
for he is the living God and steadfast forever. and his kingdom
that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even
unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and
he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth. Who hath
delivered Daniel from the power of the lions? Then in chapter
7 and 8, Daniel tells us about the prophetic visions God gave
him during the days of the wicked king of Babylon, Belshazzar,
Nebuchadnezzar's son. And we come to chapter 9. In
Daniel 9, we have Daniel's great prayer. Here he extols God's greatness
and goodness and majesty as God and confessed to God his sins
and the sins of the nation. and acknowledge that all the
evil that's come upon us has come upon us by God bringing
it upon us. I realize that my voice is the
voice of an insignificant nobody preaching out here on this hillside
in the rural area, Boyle County, and nobody gonna pay attention
to me. If God would give me the voice to make everybody in this
world hear me, I would declare this nation... Somebody asked
me the other day, You think we're headed for judgment. I said headed
for it. God's hand of judgment has been
on us a long time. It's been on us a long time and
we deserve it. We've earned it. We spit in God's
face nearly from the beginning. We've rebelled against God's
word, rebelled against his prophet, rebelled against every word given
to us, and we walk in our own way as a stiff-necked people
from the White House to the Dug House. The whole nation behaves
such a way. The whole nation. It's a wonder
to me God hasn't swept us away to hell already. But maybe, maybe,
oh maybe, God will intervene. Maybe God will yet be pleased
to be gracious. Maybe God will yet have mercy
upon such people. He did Jerusalem and Israel when
they were in Babylon. And he hasn't changed. And so
Daniel makes his prayer. He makes his prayer. Now watch
verse 20. The man Gabriel appeared to Daniel
and assured him of Christ's coming and of what Christ would accomplish.
while as I was yet speaking and praying and confessing my sin
and the sin of my people Israel and Presenting my supplications
before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God Yeah,
while I was yet speaking while I was yet in prayer Even the
man Gabriel whom I'd seen in the vision at the beginning being
calls to fly swiftly Touched me about the time of the evening
oblation Lindsay, while he was praying, God answered his prayer. Before you ask, I'll hear. Before
you call on me, I'll answer. When God is about to perform
wonders for us, when God is about to perform wonders for us, he
causes the people for whom He is engaged to seek Him in prayer. We try to pray. I know you do,
I do. We lament what passes for prayer. And we can't pray until God puts
it in our hearts to pray. And when God puts it in our hearts
to pray, then we can expect wondrous things to happen. God will do
what he puts it in our hearts to seek from him. He will perform
what he puts it in our hearts to seek from him. We repeat our vain repetitions,
and we repeat Daily I, I, I, I repented my prayers. Just so much talk about nothing. So, so many words. Oh, but if
God puts prayer in your heart, God will perform the thing he
put in your heart. Daniel said, while I was yet
praying, God sent Gabriel to me and he told me he's going
to do this. Watch this, verse 22. At the time of the evening sacrifice,
he came and touched me and he formed me and talked with me
and said, oh Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill
and understanding. At the beginning of thy supplications,
the commandment came forth and I am come to show thee for thou
art greatly beloved. Therefore, understand the matter
and consider the vision. Seventy weeks are determined
upon thy people and upon the holy city. Sadly, all my life
as a believer about everybody. I hear talk about Daniel chapter
chapter nine has got something to say about these 70 weeks. I don't think I've ever had anyone
to write to me at any time. Or to call me at any time and
say, uh, other Don, I will talk to you about Daniel chapter nine,
that they didn't say what those 70 weeks mean. That's the only
thing they're interested about it. That's the only thing that
interests them. You see, the devil will give you a keen interest
in the word of God. As long as he can keep you from
what the word of God teaches. If you read what men say about
it, you'll find out none of them understand. None of them understand. And besides that, the 70 weeks
don't matter. Whatever they are, they're done.
The 70 weeks are unimportant. But what transpired in the middle
of the 70th week, that's another story. That's where the message
is. So you can go home and get your
books out and read and study and debate and fuss and get on
the internet and look up some yay who will tell you what 70
weeks are and you can talk about it from now till you go to hell. Or you can pay attention to what
the book says. Here the Lord God showed Daniel what Messiah
would and must accomplish. Read on. These weeks are determined
to finish the transgression. That's the first thing. That's
the first thing. To finish the transgression. He who saves after this sort,
the God who saves after this sort, he alone is God who finishes
the transgression. Now it's interesting. In this
one text of scripture, three words are used to describe what
we generally refer to as sin. He uses the word transgression,
and the word iniquity, and the word sin. Reckon how come? Because those three words describe
what sin is. You know the word of God says,
thou shalt not commit adultery. So you kick the fence over and say,
I'll have my way. And I'm going to sleep with who I want to.
That's called transgression. It's it's deliberate, willful
violation of God's law. That's transgression, iniquity,
iniquity. That's what some of you doing
here this morning, iniquity, trying to be good, trying to
be good, trying to be as righteous as you can, trying to to to make
up for all the bad stuff and trying to trying to act right
and be good. Go to church, read your Bible,
pay your tithes. Perform righteousness that God
calls filthy rage. That's iniquity. Iniquity is
missing the mark. Transgression, David, is kicking
the fence, says, I'll have my way, regardless of what God says.
Iniquity is trying to do what God says. And you're not able. Trying to obey, but unable to
obey. Sin Sin is the evil that comes
out of us in acting iniquity and transgression. Sin is the
root of it all so that those things that are enacted out of
our hearts are sins, iniquity and transgression. Here, Daniel
says, when the Messiah, the prince comes, he shall make an end of
transgressions. He shall finish the transgression,
finish it. He will bring it to an end so
that those people for whom he suffers and dies, he makes complete
satisfaction. Our transgressions were laid
on him, borne by him and carried by him all away through the stream
of his precious blood. When he made satisfaction for
us, those transgressions were done. And God will never bring them up
again. Isn't that wonderful? Darren, I spent my life kicking
the fence down. Willfully deliberately maliciously
hating God violating every law Christ died And God in heaven
never brings it up again Never brings up again God done.
He shall make an end of sins. That's the second thing Yes, our blessed Savior Abolished
the sins of his people Forever. When he paid the full price of
our atonement, of our ransom, by the sacrifice of himself,
he made an end of sin. An end of sin's condemnation. An end of sin's curse. An end
of sin's judgment. An end of sin's consequences.
An end of sin's death. an end of all sins, past, present,
and future. He made an end of sins guilt. Merle Hart, we're not guilty
before God. Not guilty. Not guilty! Our conscience that once tormented
us, our consciences that once nearly drove us insane, now Rest
in peace before God because there's therefore now no condemnation
to them that are in Christ Jesus No charge can be brought against
us the curse of the law Can't reach us the sentence of
death Executed upon Christ can never be executed upon us Our
Lord Jesus made an end of sin He made an end of sin's existence. You remember what 1 John 3, 5
says? You know that He was manifested to take away our sins. Can you
finish it? And in Him is no sin. In Him is no sin. Brother Renneria,
in Christ we have no sin. And we're in Christ. That's where
we really are. Blessed is the man to whom the
Lord will not impute sin. The best sermon I ever read in
my life I found written by a false prophet by the name of Balaam. He said, surely, surely the Lord
God hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen
perverseness in Israel. Here's the third thing. Messiah comes when he cut off
in the midst of the 70th week By his sacrifice he shall make
reconciliation for iniquity Making blood atonement for us Christ
Jesus made reconciliation for iniquity God was in Christ Reconciling
the world Obviously Alan that doesn't mean everybody in the
world Because the whole world would reconcile to him. But reconciling
the world of his elect, reconciling his people scattered through
all the world, through all the ages of time, reconciling the
world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. He made reconciliation for iniquity. And our Lord Jesus Christ, by
his death at Calvary, took us who were by nature opposed to
God, us who justly deserve the full wrath of God, and fully
reconciled us to God, so that God, through the sacrifice of
His Son, God, through the sacrifice of
His Son, has no reason ever to be angry with the people for
whom his son has died. No reason ever to be angry with
me again. Christ put away my sin. He reconciled
me to God. He hath made Him to be sin for
us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness
of God in Him. so that now we who were by nature
sin are made perfectly righteous in Jesus Christ. Perfectly righteous. He made reconciliation for iniquity. Fourth, our dear Savior brought
in everlasting righteousness. By his obedience to God's holy
law as our substitute, he He lifted his hand to God in heaven
as our substitute and surety. before the world was and said,
Lo, I come to do thy will. Oh, my God. As he as he came
into his mother's womb in human flesh, he said, Lo, I come to
do thy will. Oh, my God. As he as he broke
his mother's womb and came forth in life, he said, Lo, I come
to do thy will. Oh, my God. While he walked on
this earth, he said to his mother, Don't you know, I must be about
my father's business. I've come to do the will of God.
And he finished the will of God for us. Perfectly obeying God
as a man in the room instead of his people So that we now
have in him a robe of righteousness Wrought by his own hand which
God puts in us and puts on us called the garments of salvation
That prodigal son came home and the father said my boy's home
Y'all go get the fatty calf and let's kill it. Let's have a party.
My son was lost and he's found. He was dead and he's alive. Bring
some shoes and put them on that boy's foot. And bring the family
ring, the covenant, the covenant family ring and put it on his
finger and bring the best robe. Bring hither the best robe and
put it on his back. Don't hand it to him, put it
on his back. Go to the store to get try on
a suit and they will invariably I guess they think maybe you'll
feel a little bit better. They'll invariably go get one that's
too big now that's hard to find for me and They'll put that on
you and then they'll try something on that's too little And but
they they'll just have you stand in you hold your arms and they
put it on you Yeah, because of that while back did it put it
on you? What's this and then they'll
come to what a total get start with? 52 long. Watch this. Perfect fit. Made just for me. The robe of
Christ's righteousness was made just for me. Just for me. And He put it on
me by His grace. And I stand before God in His
righteousness, not my own. This righteousness shall never
wear out. It's his righteousness and it's
everlasting. He came fifthly and sealed up
the vision and the prophecy. What's that mean? You remember
John saw a book at the right hand of God and thrown written
in the backside within without and sealed. Well, that's not
the meaning of the word here. He opened the book. When it says he sealed up the
vision and prophecy, that means he fulfilled it all. You remember
Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration? Talk to him
about the decease he should accomplish at Jerusalem. Now, I've seen
a lot of folks die. I've never yet seen anybody accomplish
decease. I've never seen anyone accomplish
decease. But he came here and Moses and
Elijah spoke to him about the decease he should accomplish
at Jerusalem. And this is the decease he accomplished. He fulfilled all the law and
all the prophets. So that there's not a word written
between Genesis 1 and Malachi chapter 4, he didn't accomplish. He fulfilled it all. He fulfilled
it all. He sealed up all the law, all
the prophets, all the types, all the promises. And then there's
one more thing. Seventy weeks are determined
upon thy people and upon the holy city to finish the transgression,
to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity,
to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and
prophecy and to anoint the most holy. To anoint the most holy. Some
folks imagine that's referring to the holy place, the holy of
holies in the temple. No, he tore the veil open so
as to show that there was nothing there. But some say that means
to ascend up into heaven and anoint the most holy place when
he with his own blood entered into the holy place having obtained
eternal redemption for us. No, there's no anointing there. This anointing is the result
of him entering into heaven. with his own blood, having obtained
eternal redemption for us. This is the result of him sprinkling
the blood on the mercy seat and God accepting us in his Son.
What's this all about? This is not talking about anointing
the most holy place. This is talking about anointing
the most holy people. The most holy. The most holy. He's the most holy. He's the
most holy. But Joe, if you're in Him, you're
the most holy. And the time comes, called the
time of love, when He pours out His Spirit on you. It's called the anointing. And
you have an unction from the Holy One who are the most holy. Oh, blessed Son of God, will
you today send the anointing? Send your spirit upon chosen
redeemed sinners and make them to know they have been made most
holy before God by your work and yours alone. Amen.
