When God's servant Moses stood
before the burning bush, the Lord God said to him, put off
thy shoes from off thy feet for the place whereon thou standest
is holy ground. I very much feel exactly that
way when I read or attempt to preach from the 17th chapter
of John's Gospel. Here our Lord Jesus makes His
high priestly prayer just before He takes His own blood and enters
into the holy place to obtain eternal redemption for us. This is how He prayed just before
He consummated everything the father had trusted him to do
as our covenant surety. Just before he finished all the
work right down to giving his life as our substitute, as a
sacrifice for sin, to make atonement for our sins and secure for his
ransomed everlasting glory. The prayer is a prayer of extreme
devotion, a prayer of compassion and intercession and recorded
here for us for learning, for our instruction. It is a prayer
given on the pages of Holy Scripture in every detail, the only one
of our Lord's prayers, which is given in every detail exactly
as he spoke it, recorded by the pen of inspiration. Our Lord
Jesus anticipated his death on the cross. And as he did, these
are the words he spoke to God the Father on our behalf. Father, the hour is come. The hour for which he had come
into this world, multitudes Foolishly imagine that the Lord Jesus came
here hoping that the Jews would pretty please let him be their
king Sitting on a little peanut throne over in a place of physical
ground called Israel. Nothing could be further from
the truth Our Lord did not come here to be made a king. He was born king He did not come
here that men might let him reign he was born reigning Our Lord
Jesus came here as Jehovah's servant for the purpose of accomplishing
redemption and putting away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
The hour appointed before the world was is now come. The hour
for which God made the universe is now come. The hour upon which
hinges all of history is now come. He's talking about the
hour when he at last, having put away sin, satisfied divine
justice, would cry, it is finished, bow his head, and breathe out
the ghost, saying, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. Glorify thy son. He elaborates
on this in verse 5. Glorify thy son, glorify thou
me with thine own self, with the glory which I had with thee
before the world was. That is, he's saying, exalt me
to your throne as the God-man mediator. Give me as a man the
dominion over all things. Magnify me as Lord and King over
all things. Give me the preeminence over
all things and in all things that thy son also may glorify
thee. Give me the rule, the complete
rule over all things that I may glorify you, my God, in the saving
of your people for the praise, honor, and glory of your great
name forever. Now we know that's exactly what
he intends by this because he tells us in verse two, as thou
hast given him, already done, already done. He's saying, give
me this manifestly as you've already given me power over all
flesh. This power was given to him as
our covenant surety before the world began, given to him in
the covenant of grace as the result of his agreed redemption
of our souls, that which he pledged himself to, and that which in
the purpose of God was finished before the world began. The triune
Jehovah turned over to him, the God-man, as our Redeemer, the
reigns of the universe, power over all flesh, power over all
flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast
given him. Now, hear this and hear it well. Jesus Christ, the son of God,
he who is the Christ, not the false Christ of Arminian will-worshipping
creatures, not the false Christ of the papist, not the false
Christ of religious thinkers. He who is the Christ came here
on purpose to save a specific people and save them he shall. There is no possibility There
is no possibility that Jesus Christ came here to save people,
that he died to save people, that he wants to save people
who finally perish in hell. We're told these days that God
loves everybody and Christ died for everybody and the Holy Spirit's
trying to save everybody. Three of the greatest lies ever
perpetrated from hell. If God loves everybody, then
everybody is saved. If Christ died for everybody,
everybody is saved. If the Holy Spirit is trying
to save everybody, everybody is saved. Either that or God
Almighty is a failure. Take your pick. One of the two. We do not worship a failure.
We worship God Almighty. That he should give eternal life
to who? To as many as thou hast given
him. The purpose of Christ's exaltation,
power, and dominion is that he might, by the power of omnipotent,
irresistible grace, give eternal life to chosen redeemed sinners,
those purchased by his blood. Now look at verse 3. And here's
our text. And this is life eternal. Oh, I'm interested in that. This
is life eternal. That's the title of my message.
That's my subject. This is life eternal that they
might know thee, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou
hast sent. This is eternal life. Now, if
you will repeat after me and say the sinner's prayer, whoopee,
go home, you've got eternal life. No. This is life eternal that
you would come down here at the end of the service and make your
profession of faith and the preachers say you're saved and everything's
all right now, you're going home and rejoicing. No. This is life
eternal that some soul winner might buttonhole you on the street
corner and get you to follow him down the Romans road and
say you believe in Jesus and pat you on the back and tell
you you're saving everything's all right. No. This is life eternal. You'll come join the church,
get baptized and start serving Jesus. No. Brother Don, that's what everybody
talks about. Everybody's wrong. That's the
way the whole religious world thinks. The whole religious world
is going to hell right now! This is life eternal. That they
might know Thee. The only true God. And Jesus
Christ whom thou hast sent. Now I want to ask you something.
Do you know God? Do you know God? Do you know
God? That's what life is. Do you know
Jesus Christ whom the father said? Do you know it? Brother Don, I don't know. Oh
yes you do. Oh yes you do. I made a decision
when I was a little boy and I've been depending on that. Do you
know God? Do you know God? the Word of God. This is life
eternal. Let's define it. That they might
know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast
sent. When we preach about eternal
life, many people think that we're talking about going to
heaven. And we are. But eternal life
means much more than going to heaven when you die. Eternal
life in the knowledge and experience of it begins here. Eternal life
obviously is eternal. It is without beginning and without
end. But it is that which is experienced here in time and
begins here in the experience and in the knowledge of it. The
life that is eternal is Christ's life put in you. Now get that. Eternal life is
not just an emotional experience. It's not just a religious feeling. Eternal life. is the birth of
Jesus Christ in you. So the one who is born of God
is given a new nature. He's made to be partaker of the
divine nature and Christ is formed in you. That new man created
in righteousness and in true holiness, Jesus Christ formed
in you. This is how the scripture describes
him. Christ in you, the hope of glory,
the life of a newborn child of God who has just a moment ago
begun to call on the name of the Lord. Oh, I pray that you
have. I pray that you will right now,
right now. Oh, God help you to believe on
the son of God. If right now you believe on him.
The life that is in you is the very same life that is possessed
by Abraham and Isaac, by Enoch and Noah, by Elijah and Moses,
who have possessed it for thousands of years. But the life is exactly
the same. Eternal life is like a mighty
river. It deepens and widens as it flows. But it's the same river which
began when Christ, the water of life, first sprang up in your
soul. Yes, we grow in grace, but you've
got to have life to grow. We see through a glass darkly,
but we do see, and you've got to have life to see. It is true
that we only know in part, but we do know, and you've got to
have life to know. When the believer dies, he doesn't
suddenly enter into life. No, death is simply the release
of life. The death of this body is the
dissolution of this tabernacle of play, which sets free the
soul in life everlasting, so that Paul cries, who shall deliver
me from the body of this death? Thanks be unto God, who maketh
us to glory and to triumph in Christ Jesus our Lord. When the
believer dies, he enters into life eternal, that life that
was born in his soul. I want us to see this. Eternal
life begins here in the new birth. It's not something that awaits
us in heaven. To have eternal life is to be
made by God, the Holy Spirit, partaker of the divine nature. This life is the gift of God
the Father. Paul says the wages of sin is
death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Now back during the Christmas
season, there was a fellow on television who tried to make
advertisements for Jesus and he was so sweet and he would
smile like a possum eating briars and he'd say, there's a gift
that's unwrapped. that's waiting for you. And that
sounds nice, doesn't it? We gave lots of gifts to folks,
but there's one still waiting for you. The gift of eternal
life, but you have to unwrap the package and take it for yourself.
What blasphemy. What foolishness. A gift is not
something offered to you. A gift may lose what God puts
in you. Do you understand the difference? A gift is not what's
offered to you. A gift is not what's presented
to you. A gift is not something awaiting
you. The gift of God is eternal life. God comes to poor, helpless,
lost, ruined, doomed, damned, dead sinners just like you and
opens up their hearts and drops in life. That's how sinners have
eternal life. This eternal life is God's gift. We were born in spiritual death.
We deserve eternal death. You and me. But God has decreed
and promised to give chosen sinners eternal life. The sun's purchase
is the gift of eternal life. For God so loved the world. God loved his elect scattered
among all the nations of the world. In every rank of society,
in every nation, kindred, tribe, and tongue, God so loved the
world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish but have everlasting life. God's
gift of his son and the sacrifice of himself was that which was
necessary in order for God in his mercy to give eternal life
to sinners. Justice must be satisfied before
grace can be conveyed. So God gave his son. He that
believeth on the Son of God hath everlasting life. I find it interesting
that the translators translated the very same word eternal and
everlasting. Because what God gives is that
life that's ours with Christ eternally. But that which we
experience begins in us and is everlasting. And whosoever believeth
on the Son of God hath everlasting life. Not if you believe you'll
get life. Oh, no. Oh, no. If you believe,
you've got life. You see, faith in Christ is not
the cause of eternal life. Faith in Christ is the fruit
of life. That doctor takes a baby out
of the womb and slaps him on the bottom. I don't know whether
they still do that or not. They might call that cruelty now. But whatever
they used to do, they slap him on the bottom and that baby cries.
Oh, look, yonder the baby is living, cause he cried. Why,
that's nuts. No, he cried because he lives. And the child of God believes
because God's given him life. You mean preacher faith is not
a work? by which we cause God to do something. You heard me right, didn't you?
No, faith is not a work. Faith is the fruit of grace.
Faith is that which shows grace wrought in us. It's the fruit
of grace. He that believeth on the Son
of God hath everlasting life. I don't believe you don't have
Life everlasting. He that believeth not the Son
of God shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
You who believe not, you have no reason to suspect that God
might look graciously upon you. You have no reason to imagine
that God might favor you. You have no reason to imagine
that God might love you. Only the wrath of God is revealed
to those who believe not. The only thing you know about
God is His wrath. That's the reason you can't sleep
at night. The only thing you know about God is His justice.
That's the reason you're tormented by your conscience. The wrath
of God abides on you. The very wrath of God that burns
in hell today abides on you and will take you to hell right soon
unless you believe on the Son of God. And that God alone can
do for you. This eternal life is the gift
of the Father, the purchase of the Son, and it's the work of
the Spirit in you. Turn over to 1 John 1. John 1. Our Lord told those folks in
John 6, it is the spirit that quickeneth. It's the spirit who
gives life. The flesh profit of nothing.
It's the spirit who gives life. If life came by something you
do. Then you've got every reason
to put your thumbs under your lapels and strut around like
a peacock and say, look what I did for Jesus. I gave him my
heart. I gave Jesus my life. I decided
to start serving the Lord. Well, bless your heart. Isn't
that wonderful? No, no, no. It's the spirit that
quickeneth. And Ron, since it's the spirit
that quickeneth, the flesh profits nothing. If you have eternal
life, it's not because you somehow or another decided that you would
make a decision for Jesus. If you have eternal life, it's
not because of your will. If you have eternal life, it's
not because of your mama or daddy. If you have eternal life, it's
because the Spirit gave you life. The flesh profiteth nothing.
Eternal life is bestowed upon helpless, dead sinners by sovereign,
irresistible grace of God the Holy Spirit. John 1 verse 11. The Lord Jesus came unto his
own and his own received him not. He came to his own people,
his own nation, his own tribe, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name, which
were born. Now watch this. How is it they
believed on his name? How is it that you trust him
and your neighbor doesn't? How is it that you believe on
the son of God and your daddy doesn't? How come? Which were
born not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of
man, but of God. The wind bloweth where it listeth.
Thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it
cometh, nor whither it goeth. So is every one that is born
of the Spirit. You never know where God's gonna
work. You never know where God's sending his word. You never know
what heart shall be awakened by God's grace. The wind blows
where it will. You can't direct it, you can't
control it. blows where it listeth, and so is every one that is born
of the Spirit. God, the Holy Spirit, comes at
the appointed time of love, as he will, and gives life to chosen
sinners, to all God's elect. This eternal life, this gift
of the Father, this purchase of the Son, this work of the
Holy Spirit, is given by Christ our Lord, to those the Father
gave him in everlasting love before the world began. Look
at John 17, 2 again. Thou hast given him power over
all flesh. Our Savior is not a beggar waiting
for you to let him come to your heart. A very common one of those common
idolatrous pictures of supposed to be of Jesus. By the way, Chris
called me yesterday as he was going to Silicon Valley and leaving
the post office. He said, somebody down here marching
on the streets and got pictures of Wild Bill Hickok, those long-haired,
sissified pictures supposed to be Jesus. One of the most popular
is he's standing at the heart's door, knocking, and he got a
little candle. Isn't that a beautiful picture?
I remember years ago, somebody said to me, you know, you see
anything strange about that? And I said, yeah, but what are
you talking about? He said, there's no handle on
the outside. You've got to open the door from the inside and
let Jesus come into your heart. Isn't that wonderful? In other
words, you're God in control of him. Here is Jesus Christ,
who's supposed to be the light of the world, got a candle in
his hand. And he who is God Almighty is tapping at your heart's door
saying pretty, please let me in. I got news for you. There's nothing about the picture
that represents the son of God. If he ever knocks at your heart's
door, he'll knock the door down, bolt and bar. And the first time
you know he's around, you're welcome. You welcome him there.
He comes in by almighty power. God is not in your hands. You're in his hand. You don't
do with him what you will, he does with you what he will. Oh
brother Don, I never heard anybody talk about God like that. That's
because you never heard anybody talk about God. There are many
who've been given to Christ from eternity whom he must and shall
save. And all whom Christ had given
to him in eternity, he gives eternal life in time. He said,
my sheep hear my voice. And I know them, and they follow
me, and I give unto them eternal life. He said, I lay down my
life for the sheep. Other sheep I have, not I'm going
to have, I already have them. Them also I must bring, and they
shall hear my voice, and there shall be one foal and one shepherd.
And then the Pharisee said, well, we don't like that. He said,
I wasn't talking to you. He said, you believe not, because
you're not of my sheep. If you were my sheep, you'd believe
me. My sheep hear my voice. The evidence and proof of life
being given is faith in Christ Jesus. The evidence and proof
of our election is the gift of that life that brings faith.
There's Ezekiel's deserted infant, Ezekiel chapter 16. And the infant is cast off, aborted. from his mother's womb, despised,
polluted in his own blood. That's a pretty good picture
of you. Pretty good picture of me. That's
what we are by nature. Useless, unwanted, polluted,
aborted infants. Test off dead. because unwanted, useless, and
aborted, counted as common trash. That's fallen humanity. But I
pass by thee, and behold, thy time was the time of love. And
I spread my skirt over thee, and I said unto thee, live. Yea,
I said unto thee, live, and thou becamest mine. Another picture
is in chapter 37 of Ezekiel. The Lord God says to his prophet,
said, Ezekiel, Look over this valley of dry bones, many bones,
very dry. Can they live? Well, Lord, if it's up to them,
there's no hope. If it's up to them, no. Can these
dry bones live? They're gathered in our midst,
myrtle heart, dry bones today. Do you reckon they can live?
Oh, Lord, thou knowest. prophesied to the bones. And
as he spoke, the spirit moves by the word, and the bones rise
up and live. And so God says, I will raise
you from your graves. And this new birth is called
the first resurrection. Raised from the dead. Lazarus
is in the tomb. And the Lord Jesus comes to Lazarus'
tomb. And he said, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came out
of the tomb. And the master said, loosen and
let him go. Eternal life is God's gift. The sons purchase the spirit's
work. But how do you define it? What
is it? What is this eternal life? Can it be defined? Can it be
described? Look at our text again. This
life eternal that they might know thee the only true God and
Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. Let me make two statements and
then I'll address a question I'll be done. First, eternal
life is the knowledge of the Lord God Almighty the only true
God. There was a time when man knew
God. When God created Adam in his
uprightness, Adam walked with God in the garden as a man walks
together with his friend. Imagine that. Imagine that. Imagine getting up in the morning
and meeting God for a cup of coffee. You don't talk like that,
brother Doc. That's how familiar Adam was
with God and God to Adam. He walked with God as a friend,
and then he sinned, and he lost everything. And we, the sons
of Adam, lost it all in him. He died spiritually. He lost all knowledge of God.
He had no more idea who God was than a man in the moon, just
like you, just like me by nature. He lost all spiritual sight,
all spiritual discernment, all spiritual understanding, all
light, all righteousness, and all peace. See, the fact is no
man by nature knows God and can't know God. Whatever you hear men say about
God, whatever you hear, unless they quote it right out of the
book, Whatever you hear men say about God is wrong. Whatever
they say. Whatever a person thinks about
God who's not born of God is wrong. Don't give any, don't
pay any attention to it. Give no heed to it. Man does
not know God. Hasn't a clue who God is. No
man knoweth the father save the son and he to whomsoever the
son will reveal him. Our Lord said, ye neither know
me nor my father. Everybody thinks he knows God.
And everybody thinks he knows all about God. But nobody knows
it. And yet man must have a God.
Everybody's got to have a God. Just like a dog has got to have
a master. Every man's got to have a God. Man's ignorance of
God has led him to every imaginable form of idolatry and superstition. I can't think of a single creature
you can see with the naked eye I can't think of any power or
element of nature that man has not worshipped as God. Isn't
that amazing? All men by nature worship and
serve the creature more than the creator. And the more educated,
more brilliant a man is, the more ridiculous and base is his
idolatry. Paul went into Athens in Acts
chapter 17. And they had all kinds of idols. They had a plaque to worship
the sun, a plaque to worship the moon, and a plaque to worship
this, a plaque to worship that. And just in case they missed
one of them, these Athenians, Alan, were the smart alecks of
the world. They were educated. Greek philosophers,
ever anxious to learn some new thing, they gathered at Mars
Hill so they could philosophize and teach each other wondrous
mysteries. But just in case we missed something,
They had a little nook and had a plaque there, to the unknown
God. To the unknown God, him whom
you ignorantly worship, Paul said. Man's ignorance of God is such
that he always rejects light. He always chooses darkness. He
always turns from truth. and turns to vain philosophy,
heathen superstition, and religious tradition. Our Savior told the
Pharisees, I'm come in my father's name, and you see me not. If
another come, doesn't matter who he is, in his own name, him
you will receive. My thoughts are not your thoughts,
God says. Neither are my ways your ways. The wisdom of God is foolishness
to man. And there's a way that seemeth
right to a man. But the end thereof are the ways
of death. What is it to know the only true
God? I mean knowing. Knowing God is
just not having a God. Everybody has a God. You do and
I do. Knowing God is not just acknowledging
that there is a God. Everybody knows there is a God.
Everybody. Whether they acknowledge it or
whether they say, I don't believe in God, I'm an atheist. Everybody
knows there's a God. Watch them when they die. Everybody
does. To know God, the only true God,
is to know Him as God. To know Him as God, Almighty,
Infinite, Omnipresent, omniscient, holy, just, sovereign God. God, who does as he willed in
the armies of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth,
whose head none can stay, are saying to him, what doest thou?
He is God, the incomprehensible Trinity. There are three that
bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost,
and these three are one, the infinite God. Brother Don, you're
going to have to explain that. Listen to this. Mr. Spurgeon
said this, I would not worship a God that I can fully understand.
I would not worship a God that
I could fully understand. If I could put my religion in
my pocket like a box of lozenges, I would soon suck it all away.
And that's just the kind of religion most folks have. You can write
it out on paper. You can teach it. You can organize
it. You can put it in your pocket.
You can defend it. And you can suck it all the way. There is
in God an infinite depth, an infinite mystery, an infinite
height beyond understanding, something that can't be comprehended. He's called the incomprehensible
God. He who is God upholds all things
by the word of His power. He who is God worketh all things
after the counsel of His own will. He who is God is He in
whom we live and move and have our being. He who is God reigns
everywhere over all things all the time. Always has His will. always does what he will. Always
performs his will. No possibility of failure with
him. He's God. To know the only true God is
to know him as my God. Brother Mahan was telling me
Tuesday, he went up after he retired from pastoring and he
and Doris went up to hear LaSere Bradley up in Cincinnati, a primitive
Baptist preacher. Brother Bradley came down here
to hear Henry last time he was here preaching, but he said,
he said, the Sarah got up to preach. He said, I don't, I don't
remember all the sermons I hear, but I can remember that outline
right now. He said, his outline was God is great. God is holy. God is just. And God is by. To know Him as the only true
God is to know Him as my God. The Spirit comes, gives you life,
and you lift your heart to heaven and cry, my Father, my Father,
my Father, so that you have no fear, no
dread, of Him as God, but only delight
in Him as God. Reverence, yes, but not dread.
We worship Him as God our Father through Christ the Lord. You
men and women both are very careful about my time and you are very
careful about disturbing us when I'm studying. And I know sometimes
you'll sneak in one of the doors here and be quiet as possible,
don't want me to hear you. And I appreciate that. I don't want
you to ever feel like you can't come into my office anytime you
want to. I want you to do that. I'm here for you. But I appreciate
that respect. My grandson and our granddaughter,
nine and 12 years old, do you know how many times that boy
has knocked on my office door to come in? Not once. And he walks in just
like he presumed he was welcome to come in. I mean, he just presumes
it's all right for him to come in. And he's right. He's always welcome. That's my
grandson. That's my grandson. He's always
welcome. Hear me. You who are gods know
you're always welcome at his throne. Always welcome, no matter
what you need, no matter what your circumstance. To know the
only true God is to know him as our father. If God Almighty
is my father, all is well all the time. You can strip me, but
I'll still be clothed in his righteousness. You can put me
in prison, I'll still be free in Christ. You can pluck out
my eyes. I can still see his glory. You
can cut my tongue out, but I'll still sing his praise. You might
forsake me, but he's with me. I may be sick in body, but I'm
well in my soul. I may be pressed under a load
of heavy burdens and cares, but I am always resting in God's
goodness and mercy. I may at this moment be at death's
door, but that's all right. That will lead me into his presence. To know God is to have life. And Charlie, I'd never had life
before, just death. Before I knew him, I cussed the
day of my birth. and the womb that bared me. Now I thank him for life to live.
Before I knew it, I felt like a galley slave pulling his oars
for no reason, with no future, with no purpose. But knowing
him, I have a reason for life. And I see that there's a reason
for every event. If I didn't know God, I'd be
in utter confusion regarding life and death and heaven and
hell and justice and mercy. But in Christ, I see the wisdom
of God in all these things. If I didn't know God, I'd tremble
at the prospect of old age and sickness and death. But knowing him, I face these
things as realities. with peace. We're all proud, but we don't
like to get old or get weak. You're getting old, and you're
getting weak, and you're withering away, and you're going to die. And Skip Gladfelter, that's just
the way it ought to be. That's just the way it ought
to be. That's how God's arranged it. If I didn't know God, There'd
be no joy for me today, and no satisfaction with yesterday,
and no hope for tomorrow. But I have great joy today, and complete satisfaction with
yesterday, and blessed hope for tomorrow. He's done all things
well. This is life eternal, that they
might know thee, the only true God. Eternal life is to know
the only true God as he has made himself known and revealed himself
in Jesus Christ, his son. Now, people have the idea that
they know God in some kind of a mystical spiritual experience,
but that's nonsense. To know God apart from Christ
is to know him only as you know him by creation. with a tormenting
conscience because you know that God is a consuming fire. To know God apart from Christ
is to know nothing but justice. To know God apart from Christ
is to know nothing but holiness. To know God apart from Christ
is to know nothing but anger. That's why you're terrified of
God. To know God in Christ. Now that's something else. To
know God in Christ is to know God as reconciled and you reconciled
to him. To know God in Christ is to know
God satisfied. Satisfied with his obedience
and satisfied with his death. To know God in Christ is to know
God in peace. This is life eternal that they
might know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou
hast sent. Now, one question. How does a sinner get this life,
this eternal life? How does a sinner get this eternal
life? The gift of God is eternal life. It must be wrought in you. And so we wait on God to do His
work. When it's wrought in you, it's
revealed in you. When it's wrought in you, Christ
is made known to you. When it's wrought in you, you
find yourself irresistibly believing on the Son of God. No, faith doesn't cause it. Faith
is the result of it. I urge you, I plead with you,
believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is written. It is promised.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. You
cannot believe on Christ and walk out those doors and go to
hell. It's not possible. But you can't believe on Christ
unless God, the Holy Spirit, creates Christ in you and causes
you to believe. And so I beg, oh God, I beg of
you, give eternal life to chosen, redeemed, dead, lost sinners
for Christ's sake. Amen.
