If you have your Bibles in the
morning, turn back with me to the book of Hebrews 7. I'd like to read here out of
the 7th chapter, beginning with verse 21. For those priests were made without
an oath, but this, with an oath by Him, that said unto him, The
Lord swear, and will not repent, thou art a priest for ever after
the order of Melchizedek. By so much was Jesus made a surety
of a better testament, and they truly were many priests, because
they were not suffered to continue by reason of death. But this man because he continueth
ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore, he is able also to
save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing
he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Well, it is evident
that Paul has been speaking about priests. If you were to read
the entire chapter, here in the seventh chapter of Hebrews, it
would become evident to you that he's talking about priests and
whose work was never finished. But this man, this man, his work
was never finished until He is done gathering all of his
people into eternal glory. Might I say that another way?
All of the priests of the Old Testament, their work wasn't
finished because they died. They passed away. But this priest
that is after the order of Melchizedek, who had no beginning and no ending,
this priest, He in heaven above will make intercession for His
people, and He is the priest that we love, the priest that
we adore, and all other priests as we know them on earth, whatever
denomination they'd be affiliated with, are a mockery in light
of what the Scripture teaches about this, our great High Priest,
the Lord Jesus Christ, who brought in that better hope by which
we draw nigh to God. I want to speak a little while
this morning on verse 25, talk to you a little bit about the
ableness, the measure of the ableness of the Lord Jesus Christ
to save to the uttermost, talk a little bit about our drawing
nigh to God or our approaching God by Him, by the Lord Jesus,
that ordained High Priest, and then say a few things hopefully
that will be comforting to you about the intercessory work of
our blessed Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. Isn't it marvelous
that he ever lives, that he ever lives, that he has a continuing
priesthood, an unchangeable priesthood. Now the measure of Christ's ability
to save. When we think about the ability
of the Lord Jesus Christ to save, my friend, it's amazing how many
things that just come to your mind. We're interested, very
interested, in the subject of salvation, in the subject of
how it is that God reconciles sinners unto himself, how it
is that God brings a sinner out of his natural state into that
glorious state wherein he is called a child of God. We know
that there must be a tremendous transformation take place when
God, as it were, brings a sinner out of the first man, Adam. We
all were born in sin and it was because of the
our federal head, Adam, that we fell. We fell in him, and
when he fell, we did. And it's amazing how that God,
in his wisdom and power, has been pleased to redeem us and
to put us into the second Adam, the Lord from heaven, and has
brought us there and clothed us in the righteous garments
of this our great High Priest, the Lord Jesus. So we're talking
about a subject that will be interesting, I think, to many
of us here. There may be some here that may
not. Those to whom it will be interesting are those that have
come unto God by Him. Those who have come unto God
by the Lord Jesus Christ. We might ask this question, have
you approached God through the Lord Jesus Christ? My friend,
if you've never approached God through Christ, then you have
not got to God. You're not a Christian if you've
not come to God through the Lord Jesus Christ. You know, one of
the things that I think that we'll never make any progress
if we're seeking the Lord And if we're desiring to know the
way of God, the way He would reconcile a sinner to Himself,
and the way He would save a soul, is that we must come to the place
where that we believe firmly in the infallibility of the language
and the Scriptures that concern our Lord Jesus Christ, the words
of Christ Himself. We must believe in the infallibility
of the words of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, either he meant
what he said, or he didn't. Now, if he cannot be trusted
or believed, then we should find out about it. I should have found
out about it maybe 53, 54 years ago. I should have found out
that he was not to be trusted, that his word was not reliable.
But my friend, the Word of God is reliable, and the statements
made in Holy Scripture concerning God's Son, and the way that God
reveals and reconciles men and women to His Son, these things
are irrefutable. And we must stand on the Word
of God. The Scripture here talks about
men approaching unto God here in verse 25, wherefore he is
able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God, or come
unto God by him, seeing that he ever liveth to make intercession
for them. We read back in John chapter
14 and verse 6, where Jesus made the statement, I am the way,
the truth, the life, no man comes to the Father except by me. Now you say, well now preacher, Do you mean to say that if a
man is a man of another religion and he worships another God,
maybe he might be a Jew that doesn't believe that the Messiah
has come, that the Lord Jesus Christ is truly that one scent
of God. Maybe he doesn't believe that.
And do you believe that he is never going to approach God,
never going to be able to draw an eye to God, that he'll never
be reconciled to God unless he comes to God and changes his
mind about God's Son, the Lord Jesus Christ? That's exactly
what I'm saying. I'm saying that he cannot approach
unto God but by Jesus Christ. Somebody says, well, but he may
be a Muslim. Well, he may be, but the Scripture
And the Word of God is infallible, and you cannot bypass what the
Scripture says. Jesus said, I am the way, I'm
the door. By me if any man enter in, he'll
be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture. I am the
way, the truth, and the life. No man, get that, no man, if
he be Jewish and denies the Messiah, or if he be a Muslim and denies
the person of Christ, Wherever he be, he cannot approach unto
God except he come by the Lord Jesus Christ. Now you say that's
narrow-minded, but I would remind you that the truth is narrow.
The truth is narrow, and Christ is the mediator. The Bible says
that he is the one mediator between God and man. And so, beloved,
let us, if we are here this morning and we believe the Word of God,
Now, the Lord Jesus said in John 5, verse 24, and in a few places
in Scripture, the Lord Jesus used the terms, verily, verily. Verily, verily. Now, when the
Lord Jesus generally spoke, what he said always was the truth.
But there are times when he emphasized his truth, and he would expect,
as he would say, truly, truly, or verily, verily, I say unto
you, he would expect that we would give the more earnest heed
to what he said. And in John 5, verse 24, he said,
He that believeth on me, and believeth on him that sent me,
hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but
is passed from death unto life. He that hears my word, and believes
on him that sent me, he has everlasting life. He's missed the judgment,
and he will not come into the judgment. He's passed over from
the judgment and God has nothing against him. He stands accepted
in the beloved one, the Lord Jesus Christ. And so you see,
he emphasized that statement of scripture because he would
have you to pay the more earnest heed to it. Now the question
is, have you approached unto God by Jesus Christ? Now if you haven't, then the
ableness of Christ to save is not too interesting to you. And
not only that, but the intercessory work of the Lord Jesus Christ
doesn't mean much to you either. Because if you feel you can come
to God without Him, then why do you need Him to save you or
to make intercession for you? Well, you'd have to admit, my
friend, that you're in a dilemma. But let's look a little bit about
this. Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost
that come unto God by Him. We believe Him to be a very able
Savior. a very able Savior. Now the ability
of Christ to save to the uttermost that Christ is able to save may
be argued from His appointment to that work by the Father. Now
what I'm saying is that the Father appointed and commissioned the
Lord Jesus Christ to the work of saving His people. And it
was said early on in Matthew 1 and 21 that thou shalt call
his name Jesus, meaning Savior, because he shall save his people
from their sin. The Lord Jesus Christ was commissioned
to save. He was appointed to that work
by the Father. Thou art a priest forever, the
Lord swear and will not repent. Thou art a high priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek. And you are, from this time,
you will have no predecessor, you will have no successor, you
are my high priest, the one that I have appointed to be the savior
of my people. Now, we know that the Father
has infinite wisdom, and he could employ no means inadequate to
the purpose they were designed to accomplish. Now think on that
a little bit. The Father is wise. He's all
wise. He's omniscient. He knows all
things. And would He employ a means such
as appointing Jesus Christ to be the High Priest and the Savior
If he knew that he was inadequate, that he wasn't able to accomplish
the job, that he wouldn't be able to deliver the souls of
his people. You see, the Lord Jesus Christ
has been chosen and all of his people chosen in him. And Jesus
Christ is the representative of his people, and he is the
Savior of the body. The Lord Jesus is an adequate
Savior, and the Father appointed the only one in the universe
that could be a Savior to be the Savior of his people. Now then, that he is able to
save may be argued also from the dignity of his person. We know that He is God, that
He is God. And that He had every qualification
to be a Savior. Now I believe that one of the
most important things that you are to get if you're a stranger
to the gospel of God's grace and truth is the fact that the
Lord Jesus Christ is God. He is God. You turn back with
me to the first chapter of the book of Hebrews. Hold your finger
there in Hebrews chapter 7 if you want, and turn back to the
first chapter, and look at beginning with verse 1. The Lord Jesus
Christ is God, and that's the reason why He can save to the
uttermost. He's able to save. He's adequate
to save. He has the ability to accomplish
the design, the eternal counsel and perfect will of God from
eternity. He has the ability to accomplish
that. And here it says in chapter 1
and verse 1, it says, God, and beloved, that's where you must
start. That's where you must always start when you're talking
about this business of being saved to the uttermost. You've
got to start with God. God is the author of eternal
salvation. It was God that sent the Son
into the world to die and to become a sacrifice for our sins. It was God that did that. Well,
take note. who at sundry times and in divers
manners, or in different manners, spake in times past unto the
fathers by the prophets." He's saying that in the Old Testament
times, God spoke to the people through the mouths of prophets. He spoke to our fathers in the
faith through the prophets. But half in these last days,
and we've been in the last days ever since the Lord Jesus Christ
was born into this world. Ever since Christ came into the
world, we're in the last days. Somebody said, I think we're
in the last days. Well, we've been in it ever since
Christ came into the world. Okay, hath in these last days
spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all
things, by whom also he made the worlds. Now, the Lord Jesus
Christ is that one that the Father has spoken through. He's the
one that now there's not going to be any more Scripture written,
because God has spoken His last word. His last word is, this
is my Son. Bow down to Him. Repent. Turn to Him. This is my Son. Look to Him as the all-sufficient
One, as the sufficient Savior. Look to Him as the only One who
can deliver you out of your dilemma and out of the fix that you're
in by nature. The Son has the last word. He's the One who's spoken. And
cursed be everyone who will not hear this prophet of God, this
Son that has been sent into the world. He's been appointed heir
of all things, meaning that God turned everything over to Him
and put everything, including you, into His hands. He's appointed
heir of all things. The Lord Jesus Christ is the
prime minister of the universe. The Lord Jesus Christ is a sovereign
Christ, and He rules over all. All are subject to Him. The Bible
says He has power over all flesh, that He might give eternal life
to as many as the Father has given to Him. So He has power. And He has the power, all of
those that Christ redeemed by price. God has, the Son has the
power, not only to redeem them by the laying down of His life,
but power to redeem them, power to bring them, power to change
their lives and to put them into the family of God. Okay, so now
He's appointed heir of all things. The Bible says in John chapter
2, I think it's verse 35, that the Father loved the Son and
hath put all things into His hands. All things into His hands. This is the Son I'm talking about,
and by whom also He made the worlds. The Bible says in the
first chapter of John's Gospel that There was not anything that
was made without Him. Nothing was made without Him,
the Lord Jesus Christ. So we're talking about somebody
here. We're not just talking about
an ordinary man. We're talking about the God-man,
the Lord Jesus Christ. And then look in verse 3, who
being the brightness of His glory, the Lord Jesus is the very brightness
of the glory of the eternal God, the sovereign God of the ages.
He's the brightness of His glory, and He's the express image of
His person, meaning that He's the one that tells out God because
He is God. You remember what He said to
Philip. You remember that He told Philip, He mentioned the
Father, and Philip said, Show us the Father, and it'll satisfy
us. And the Lord Jesus said, Philip,
if you've seen me, you've seen the Father. Because the Lord
Jesus is that one that reveals the Father. The fullness of the
Godhead dwelt bodily in the Lord Jesus Christ. And so he says
this, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when
He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand
of the Majesty on high. Jesus, my friend, is God. He is God. He's the fullness
of the Godhead and it dwelt bodily in Him. Turn back also to the
10th chapter of the Gospel of John and listen to these words. I'm talking about the ableness.
How is He able? Well, He's able to save to the
uttermost because He's God. Because He's God. Because He's
been appointed by the Father. Because he's not inadequate and
the Father's wisdom chose him. He was the chosen of the Father,
the first elect. Now here in John chapter 10,
the Lord Jesus made this statement in John 30. He said, I and my
Father are one. I and my Father are one. So we're
dealing with God here. Then the Jews took up stones
again to stone him. And Jesus answered them, Many
good works have I shown you from my Father, for which of those
works do you stone me? Which of those good works that
I performed among you, are you stoning me? And the Jews listened
to what they answered him. They said, For a good work we
stone thee not. We are not against doing good
works. We know the Pharisees were always
in favor of doing good works, and we are not against that at
all. But for bless Phimian, because thou being a man, makest thyself
God. He said, I and my Father are
one. And so, beloved, here we have
the Lord Jesus Christ. These Jews were going to stone
to death. They got stones together to stone
God. What do you think of that? They
were going to stone God Himself. Now, that is a tremendous statement
to make, but that's exactly the truth, beloved. Now, we know
that a man cannot be God. But we know that God can become
a man, and that's exactly what the Lord Jesus Christ, that's
what He did. He was God, He was born of the
Virgin into this world, a body was prepared for Him in the womb
of the Virgin, and He was God, very God of very God. And we
know that the Scripture teaches clearly that this He was the
God-man, and therefore he was able to die and to purge us from
our sin. Well, how is it that he is able
to save to the uttermost? That means able to save a man.
from old Adam, clear into the second Adam, and to eternal glory. He is able to save us with a
complete salvation, an absolute complete salvation. How is it
that He is able? Well, because this God-man, He
died. He died in order to save us.
Now the Bible speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ as being that sacrifice
He was that high priest, and he had a sacrifice, and he had
somewhat to offer. He offered himself. And the Bible
says that he purged us from our sin. Well, the way he did that
was that he went to Calvary and shed his blood in order that
our sins be put away. Now, in thinking about this,
the Bible, you know, says a whole lot about the death of the Lord
Jesus Christ. And my friend, we know that there
could have been no salvation apart from his death. The Lord
Jesus must die. He must die to satisfy the justice
of God. The scripture says that all have
sinned and come short of the glory of God. All have sinned. That means you and I. All have
sinned and come short of the glory of God. And the Scripture
says the wages that God pays men for sin is death, is death. Now beloved, you either die the
death of sin, sin's death, or someone else must die in your
room instead in place. Now the Lord Jesus Christ has
come to represent, as we said earlier, His people. He represents
His people. And that needs to be understood.
You'll never understand the death of Christ apart from understanding
that He was a representative man, just like our father Adam
was a representative man. The Lord Jesus Christ represented
us. When He died, He died for me,
and I died in Him, and so He suffered my death. He suffered
my death on Calvary. He paid the price. of my redemption. He met the demands of God and
laid down His life that I might be spared the wrath of God. Scripture says, Who shall lay
anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. The Scripture says, Who is He
that condemneth? It is Christ that died. It is
Christ that died. Now, beloved, if the Lord Jesus
Christ died for you in your room instead in place, then you won't
have to die the second death. Scripture, our brother read it
this morning, says it is appointed unto men once to die, and after
this the judgment. It's appointed unto men once
to die. You must die once. But if you
do not come to God by Jesus Christ, and if you're not in Christ when
you die, then you will die the second death in eternity. you will die the second death,
that death which never dies. You will experience that death.
And so my friend, how does the Lord Jesus Christ, how does He
save to the uttermost? He saves to the uttermost by
dying, by going to Calvary and suffering in our place. Alright,
now we are told then in the Scriptures that the just one for the unjust
died on the tree. And we believe that the Lord
Jesus Christ, that His death satisfied God on the behalf of
somebody. He satisfied God on the behalf
of His people, those chosen from eternity by the Father. The elect were chosen by the
Father from the foundation of the world. And the justice of
God, which we owed a debt to the justice of God, a debt we
could not pay. And the Lord Jesus Christ paid
the debt He did not owe. in order that we might be saved,
in order that we might be delivered. And so, beloved, this salvation
to the uttermost, and oh, how the people of God can testify
of the Lord Jesus Christ. And I believe that the grace
of God is so evident in people's lives that, well, we can see
it in Scripture as well as in experience. There are those that's
already gone on into eternity. And that were great sinners. Great sinners. Manasseh of old. Mary Magdalene. Paul said that
he was the chief of sinners himself. And we know of the maniac of
Gadara. And there were others in the
scripture that could be mentioned that were great sinners. And
then we know that there were no little sinners. No little
sinners. We know that all men are in the
sight of God, they are great sinners. We all sin by nature,
choice, practice, and we are great sinners in God's sight,
and it takes the death of Christ to save any sinner. No sinner
can be saved apart from his death. So he died in order to save us.
The measure of his ability enhanced by the fact that He died in order
to save us. And then we're told here that
He ever lives to make intercession for us. The fact that the Lord
Jesus Christ ever lives. And I'd like for you this morning
to be able, when you leave this place, to go out of this place
believing ever bit as much in a Christ who is alive
as you ever believed in a Christ who died. I want you to go out
of here believing in a Christ who is alive, seated at the right
hand of the Father. A Christ who is there. Scripture
says, as the brother read it this morning, that He's entered
into the presence of God for us. How is He able to save such
wayward people as we are? Even since our conversion, if
God had taken His hand off of us, we would have perished. We
would have perished many times. I like what the Lord Jesus said
in John 10, where He said that, My Father is greater than I,
and no man can pluck them out of His hand. No man can get them
out of his hand. No man can wrestle them out of
his hand. No man can get them out. No man can get them out. They
shall never perish. I give unto my sheep eternal
life, and they shall never, never perish. Well, how is it that
they shall never perish? Have you not sinned even since
your conversion? Have you not sinned? Well, the
only reason, the only way you're going to to remain saved and
never perish is that there's somebody making intercession
for you. Somebody pleading your case before
the Father. And the Lord Jesus is at the
right hand of the Father and He's pleading our case. Now we
owe this debt to God and it's been paid in full by the Lord
Jesus Christ. But then that Death of Christ
must continue to be pleaded on our behalf before God. And the
intercessory work. The scripture says in 1 John
that if any man sins, he has an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous. And what that means is that if
any man sins as a believer, and all believers do sin, because
if we say we have not sinned, we make God a liar and His truth
is not in us. If we say we've not sinned, then
we deny the Word of God, and deny the truth of God. We all
do sin. And so, he says that if any man
sin, we have an advocate with the Father. An advocate. Somebody that will plead our
case. Somebody acting like a lawyer. A mediator between us and God. You know that this dear person,
that I died for this person. I shed my blood for this person.
I went to Calvary. My five bleeding wounds testify
I represented them. I had no sin of my own. I died
for their sin. And my death was their death.
Father, forgive them. Forgive them. Forgive them as
they stand in me. And so the Lord Jesus Christ
represents us before the Father, regardless of how low we fall,
how much problem we have, how much difficulty we have. trying
to make it in this world, and to do the things that we ought
to do, and we stumble often and fall. But the Lord lifts us up,
and the Lord Jesus pleads for us at the right hand of the Father,
and He pleads His blood and His righteousness. Father, You know
they're not righteous, but You know that I am their righteousness. Accept them in my person, and
accept them through my name. And so even our prayers must
be perfumed by the merit and righteousness of the Lord Jesus
Christ because they're not suitable at the throne. He must reward
them. He must reward them. He must
say, Father, this is what they meant. This is what they meant
to say. This is the way they meant to
say it. And Father, this is what their desire is. And so the Lord
Jesus represents us before the Father. And that's the way He
keeps you saved. Now, as the old song says something about that,
if sheep of Christ could fall away, my fickle, feeble soul
would fall a thousand times a day. I believe in eternal security
for God's true sheep, God's true people. The Bible teaches it.
It's plain in the Scriptures. And so we ought to rejoice and
praise our God that He has provided us a salvation that we don't
have to be in doubt as to whether or not it's the outcome of our
journey that we can know that our sins are put away and that
we're forever, ever safe in the person of God's beloved and true
Son. So then we've talked a little
bit about the measure of Christ's ability to save, and how that
He is God, and how that He was able and all-wise and all-sufficient,
and how that He died, and that's the way that He saved His people
by His death, and by His resurrection, and then how that He makes intercession
on our behalf, pleads our case, and talks to the Father on our
behalf. Now, I wanted to emphasize this one thing before we wrap
this up, and that is that I think you need to face some statements
that I believe are true in the light of this. Some statements
that are true. that I think would be very helpful
if you could just simply face these statements and think on
them and meditate upon them. Now what we've said this morning, I would like to say that it leads
us to this conclusion. You know there's a verse in Isaiah
chapter 42 verse 4 that says that He, speaking of Christ,
shall not fail. He shall not fail. And that simply
means that whatever the Son of God undertakes to accomplish,
He shall accomplish. Now that is a statement there
that I think should make everybody perk their ears up. That He shall
accomplish it. So then we conclude here that if he prays for a man's salvation,
that man shall be saved. That man shall be saved. Because
he is able to save to the uttermost all that come unto God by him
seeing he ever lives, to make intercession for him. If he dies
to put away a man's sin, that man's sin must be put away. Now is that true? Is there any
question about that? He must be put away. If he seeks
the sheep, the sheep must be found. If he leaves the ninety
and nine who need no repentance and goes to find the one lost
sheep, the lost sheep must be found. Must be found because
we're dealing here with God. God is the author of our salvation. He sent the Son. If He says to
the dead sinner, live, the dead will live. The dead will live. If He comes to save a sinner
by the power of His grace, that sinner must be saved. Must be saved. No question about
it. He shall not fail. But somebody said, well, but
what happens If a man is guilty of some terrible, terrible crime,
some terrible sin, well, the Apostle Paul said that he had
been guilty of blasphemy himself and was a murderous man toward
the Lord's people. And yet, God saved him. He said,
I was the chief of sinners. But this is a faithful saying,
worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world
to save sinners, of whom I am chief. And so the Lord saved
the apostle Paul. He shall not fail. Well, what
happens if Satan sends a legion of demons to destroy a man's
soul? One for whom Christ died. What
about that? He shall not fail. Well, what
if the sinner is not interested in salvation? Well, he shall
not fail. What if that sinner is not willing
to trust Christ? Well, his people shall be willing
in the day of his power. Wait. See. And if a man lives
his life, all of his life, and never comes to God by Jesus Christ,
never comes to God by Jesus Christ, it's like if you see a man aiming
an arrow and he shoots an arrow out of the bull, and you see
a bullseye out there, that arrow, its flight prophesies where it's
going to hit. And if a man never repents, never
believes the gospel, never comes into God by Jesus Christ, then
it's evident he's lost, irretrievably lost if he dies in that state. Might we say that the cross of
our Lord Jesus Christ shall never be discovered to be a miscarriage? Never will be discovered to be
a miscarriage. Every sinner for whom he endured
the agonizing travail and death of the cross shall live by the
power of his blood and grace. The Lord Jesus effectually accomplished
the redemption of God's elect when he died on the cross. when
He died on the cross. Now, these are things that are
evident and clear by the fact that He saves to the uttermost
all that come unto God by Him. That He's able to do that, able
to accomplish what the Father sent Him to do. Now, back in
1789, there was a lady born that was
named Charlotte Elliott. And she lived till 1871, born in
1789, died in 1871. And when she was a young lady
she had lived a very sinful life. And she got under conviction
and she went to a man by the name of Caesar Milan, an old
believer, and said to him, how can I be saved? And he said, well, come to the
Lord Jesus. Just come to the Lord Jesus.
And she says, will he take me just as I am? And He said, He'll take you just
as you are. You see, you must approach unto
God by Jesus Christ. You must come to Christ. You
must come to Christ. Now we know that if any sheep
of Christ hears those words, and hears them in their soul,
that there is divine power that accompanies those words. and
enables them to come. So, she went away to her room,
this young lady, Charlotte Elliot, and wrote the song, Just as I
am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, O
Lamb of God, I come. She went and wrote those words.
So you see beloved, you come just as you are because He is
able to save to the uttermost all that come unto God by Him.
There was a man one time who went into a drug store and he
had a real bad cold. And he said to the pharmacist,
do you have anything for a cold? And the pharmacist said, do you
have a prescription? And he said, I don't have anything
but my cold. There's a picture there of a
sinner coming to Christ. You don't come with a prescription.
Tell God how to do it. Explain to God about your situation. You just come like you are. That's the way you come to the
Lord. He has all the ability. The ability is His. What did
it say? He is able. to save to the uttermost
all that come into God by Him. He is able. Jude said that He
is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless
before the presence of His glory with ecstatic joy. He is able. The ableness belongs to the Savior. It belongs to God. May the Lord
bless these few scattered remarks. I don't apologize for not having
the strength that I once had. I just simply, I've told everybody
the only thing going to help me is the resurrection. And that's
probably going to be it. But sometimes I've got more strength
than I have others. But that's not where the power
is anyway. Power is in the Word and in the
truth. So may the Lord own His truth. I have asked Susan, if she would,
to stand and sing for us that old hymn, Just As I Am. Did you
want to come up here, Susan? She wants to come up here, so
she can come up here. She's going to sing Just As I
Am, and then we'll be dismissed. Just as I am without one plea,
but that Thy blood was shed for me, and that Thou bidst me come
to Thee, O Lamb, of God I come, I come. Just as I am and waiting not
to rid my soul of one dark blot, To thee whose blood can cleanse
each spot, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am, though tossed about
with many a conflict, many a doubt, fighting's within and fear O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
