I want to read this incident where the
Lord Jesus had just crossed this raging sea. He comes here to
the eastern coast of the Sea of Galilee, and He meets this
maniac full of devils, and He heals him. and then goes back
across the Sea of Galilee again. Our Lord was a laboring man.
He never stopped. He never stopped. He was always
going about, the Scripture says. He went about. From the time
He woke up early in the morning to begin His prayer to His Father
until He laid down usually late at night, He was going about.
Let's read this account beginning in verse 1 of Mark chapter 1.
And they came over unto the other side of the sea, unto the country
of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the
ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an
unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs, and no man could
bind him, no, not with chains, because he had been often bound
with fetters, shackles, and the chains had been plucked asunder
by him, and the fetters broken in pieces, neither could any
man tame him. And always, night and day, he
was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying and cutting himself
with stones. But when he saw Jesus aforeoff,
he ran and worshipped Him, and cried with a loud voice and said,
What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High
God? I jure thee by God that thou
torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out
of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy
name? And he answered, saying, My name
is Legion, for we are many. And he besought him much, that
he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was
there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine, pigs,
hogs, feeding. And all the devils besought him,
saying, Send us unto the swine, that we may enter unto them.
And forthwith Jesus gave them leave, and the unclean spirits
went out, and entered unto the swine, And the herd ran violently
down a steep place into the sea. They were about two thousand
and were choked in the sea. And they that fed the swine fled
and told it in the city and in the country. And they went out
to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus and see
him that was possessed with the devil and had the lesion. He was sitting. and clothed,
and in his right mind, and they were afraid. And they that saw
it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the
devil, and also concerning the swine. And they began to pray
him to depart out of their coast. And when he was coming to the
ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that
he might be with him. Albeit Jesus suffered him not,
but said unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how
great things the Lord hath done unto thee, and for thee, and
hath had compassion on thee. And he departed, and began to
publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him,
and all men did marvel. I want us to learn some things
from this incident this morning, and not to keep you waiting,
I want to get right into it. First of all, let's learn something
from this man about ourselves. Let's learn something about our
humanity, the humanity that you and I live among and are involved
in. And what do we see about humanity? I think this man here is a representative
of humanity. In the extreme, I know that.
But what he shows us here is how far humanity has fallen from
its original state. How far humanity has fallen from
its original state. We often try to identify what
Adam lost when he sinned there in the garden. And we're able
to identify some things that Adam lost when he sinned. I can't
imagine what he was like. I can only imagine what he was
like. How holy that he was. How upright that he was. How
innocent that he was. How moral that he was. How strong
he was. the affections he had for God
his Creator, the faith to believe his Creator. God hath made man
upright. And I don't know what all that
includes, but it includes a lot. Adam was a brilliant human being. But what did he lose when he
sinned in the garden, and what did we lose in him? Well, one,
we lost our mortal goodness. We were good, but we lost that
moral goodness. You might call it a created righteousness,
original righteousness, however we refer to it. We lost it. Adam lost his purity of heart. He lost his moral ability to
thank rightly of God. He lost his ability to believe
God, to live for God, to please God, His Creator. He lost that. He lost that. Lo, this only have
I found, that God hath made man upright, but He hath sought out
many inventions. Listen to Romans chapter 5 and
verse 19. By one man's disobedience, one
act of one man, many were made sinners. By one act of disobeying
God, Adam was made a sinner. And not only was he made a sinner,
you and I was made sinners because we were in Him. That's why every
child that's born in our day since the fall is born little
sinners. Every time a little baby darkens
his mother's womb, another little sinner. What made them sinners? Adam. He lost his spiritual life
immediately. In the day that you eat thereof,
you shall surely die. And he lost his physical life
later. What did he lose? Righteousness,
morality, moral goodness, heart goodness. He lost his spiritual
life. He died by one act of disobedience. He died. What else did he lose? I tell you, he lost that sweet
communion with his Creator, didn't he? Oh, can you imagine how sweet
that communion was? The Lord, His Creator, come walking
in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and Eve would
run to meet Him, and they would fellowship and commune one with
another. Oh, the love that was shared. But he lost that. Then when he
heard the Lord walking in the cool of the day, what did he
do? He hid himself from the presence of the Lord. He lost even the
desire. His whole heart had changed.
Where there was love on his part, now there is enmity. Where there
was a desire to fellowship with his Creator, now he has lost
all of that. He hid himself from the presence
of the Lord. Well, he lost paradise. That
garden had to be a paradise. The garden that the Lord planted
and put man in to care for and to hold and love it and cherish
it. Paradise. A place where there
was food abundantly, every tree pleasant to the eye, where there
was health and happiness and holiness. He lost that. He lost
paradise. Where is it? I doubt it's anymore.
The flood probably destroyed it. It lasted that long. It's
gone. Paradise is gone. As far as the
garden. What did Adam lose? He lost the
blessings of the first covenant. Listen to this. God blessed them,
and God said, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,
and subdue it, and have dominion. That was the blessing of the
first covenant. As long as you're obedient, you'll
be blessed. Oh, but he lost that, didn't
he? Having sinned against the first covenant, he lost the blessings
of the first covenant. Now what did he do? He tilted
the curse. He tilted the cursed ground.
He earned his living by the sweat of his face. And when Eve bore
her first child, she did so in travail. The blessing was gone. And Adam's enemies were they
of his own household. And he became a man full of sorrow
and trouble until finally, until finally He returned from the
dust of which He came. What did He lose? What did He
lose? Oh, we could go on and on of
what He lost. We're not what we used to be,
folks. We're not what we used to be. Somebody said, oh, we
stumbled in the garden. Oh, we died. We were awful losers
by our first-birth sin. But not only what we gained,
what we lost, But my goodness, what we gained. What we gained. Some people say
there's no such thing as devils. I heard a man say one time, it's
just the evil. There's no such thing as a personality,
a real devil or demon. It's only the evil that's in
the world. Boy, Mark shoots that myth out
of the air, doesn't he? He blows that myth up. The devil
and his demons are real. They're real. And you and I in
our unregenerate state are subject to them and their influence,
and if we die unconverted, we'll be punished with them for everlastingly. Demons are real. Somebody said
there's two kinds of demons. Two kinds of demons. There's
white demons and black demons. I think that's so. There's white
demons and there's black demons. This man had a black one. He
had some black ones, didn't he? Open and profane. He lived naked. He was violent. He was vile. He had a black demon. But you
know, there's white ones. There's white demons. They're
black, but they pose as white demons. Here's what the Lord
said to the Pharisees. You are of your father the devil,
and the lust of your father you will do. The lust of your father. Now we can understand how this
fellow here that was possessed with the devil lived like he
lived, but listen. How could it be said that those
Pharisees walked according to the devil? You are of your father
the devil, and the lust of your father you will do. Well, listen to this. What was
the lust that they did? How could you have seen their
lust? How could you have seen the devil leading them about?
It's obvious this man in our text had devils. We can see the devils working
in his heart, but how was the devils working in the Pharisees'
heart? Well, here it was. It was seen
in their prayers. It was seen in their outward
morality and their religious duties. You say, Bruce, come
on, you've got Plumalp. Now listen. Listen to this. The
Pharisee fulfilled the lust of his flesh when he bragged about
fasting. And he bragged about tithing. He fulfilled the lust of His
flesh when He gloried in Himself and said, I'm not like other
men are. I'm better. That's the lust of
the flesh. They took great pleasure in their
missionary outreach. The Lord said, I'll give you
credit. You can pass land and sea to make one proselyte, one
convert. But listen. And though you glory
in that, when you've made Him, you make Him two-for-more the
child of hell than yourself. Why? Because they didn't believe
the gospel. And they didn't preach the gospel.
And when they converted somebody, they just converted them to their
traditions. And the Lord said, the devil
is behind it. The devil is behind it. So see,
he's not just down at the bar. He's not just influencing people
who get drunk. He's influencing the pulpits.
He's not just influencing the open and profane. He's influencing
religious people. I used to often think, when the
Apostle Paul included himself in fulfilling the lust of the
flesh, I never could understand when
he made such statements like this in Titus 3. We ourselves
also were sometimes foolish, deceived. I can understand that.
But listen. Serving thyber's lust and pleasures. You follow Saul of Tarsus before
the Lord saved him. Would you think that he was fulfilling
thyber's lust and pleasures? I mean, he was so strict. The
kind of clothes he wore, where he went, he fasted all the time.
He was outwardly a very, very moral man. And yet he said, I
fulfilled the lust. What was that? Well, there is
lust of this flesh. That lust after vain religion. That lust after glory. I'm not
like other men or I'm better. That's fulfilling the lust of
the flesh. Listen to how he writes it in Ephesians chapter 2 verse
2. In time past you and I walked according, he included himself,
to the course of this world, now listen, according to the
prince of the power of the hour. Who is that? That's Satan, isn't
it? And we walked according to the
prince of the power of the hour. The Spirit that now works in
the children of disobedience, listen, among whom also we all
had our conversation, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and
of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath. Devils have come down among us,
brothers and sisters, and they've not only led us to be open and
profane, But they've led us into all kinds of false religions.
I don't know what determines who is led by these devils to
be open and profane and who's led to be religious. I don't
know what determines that. I have no idea. But there it
is. We have white devils and we have
black devils. Paul talked about false apostles,
didn't he? There's true apostles and there's
false apostles. There's honest workers and there's
deceitful workers. Christ has his ministers and
Satan has his. And Paul said, no marvel, for
Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light, into
a moral character, a moral spirit. So it's not only what we lost.
My goodness, what we gained. What we gained. We lost the presence of God.
Boy, but look at this. We gained the company of demons. Did you notice that in verse
2? There was a man who came out of the tombs. And He was keeping company with
that unclean spirit. Boy, what about that? We lost
the company of God. We gained the company of the
Spirit. We lost the beautiful garden. And which were those trees pleasant
to the eyes? And what did we gain? A cemetery. Does this man not represent to
us humanity? Look around you when you go home.
How many cemeteries do you pass? Man, this earth has opened its
mouth to swallow gallons and millions of barrels of human
blood. Through wars and disease and
accidents, we've become a graveyard. Have we not? We exchanged, and
we lost the garden, and we gained the cemetery. And before it's
finished, you'll be there, and I'll be there. That's what we
gained. We lost the righteousness that
we could stand before God in, and we gained our utter nakedness. That's all we've got, isn't it? Somebody said there's three things
these demons seek to destroy. Three things they seek to destroy.
First of all is our souls. Our souls. Demons don't love
us, brothers and sisters. They hate us. They hate our souls. They seek to deceive us. They
blind our minds. When we get around the gospel,
they try to steal the Word of God out of our hearts lest we
should believe it and be saved. They're after our souls first
and foremost. And if you can't get your soul,
here's what demons want, your body. Your body. I tell you, it was only by the
grace of God this poor man didn't despair and take his own life. Wasn't it amazing how he was
spared? These demons got in him, and I'm telling you what, day
and night we're told here he was in the mountains and in the
cemeteries cutting himself and crying. Can't you see what he
looked like? No clothes. human waste all over
his body, how he stinked, and what drove him to that? These
demons. They hated his body. They, being damned themselves,
want to drag everybody they can down with them. They want to
kill the body. The soul, the body, and this
can't be overlooked, man's possessions. Man's possessions. Demons want
to take everything we possess. Our souls, our bodies, and if
they can't get that, they'll get everything else we possess. They want us to be in poverty
and hardship and utter despair. This man lost his house. He lost
his friends, he lost his family, he lost his clothes, he lost
his insanity, lost his mind. And who was responsible for taking
it? Demons. Demons. Somebody said the other day,
I was reading a documentary, maybe they were talking about
Al-Qaeda, radical Islam, how they thrive where there is poverty
and despair. They go into countries that their
unemployment rate is high, they have no jobs, and the people
are starving. And they thrive in situations
like that. They thrive on men's despairs
and hardships. No wonder they do. They're of
the devil. That's where the devil strives,
by taking everything that he can away from men. God gives. He gives what we need in our
daily life. What does these demons do? They
take, take, take, take. Remember when Job, the Lord,
Satan came up before the Lord and the Lord said, Have you considered
my servant Job? And he said, Oh yeah, I've considered
him. You've blessed him. Look what all you've given. Look
at his possessions. He has all of these things and
all these children and servants. And cattle, take it all from
him. And see what he does then. And
the Lord said, everything he has is in your hand. You spare
his life. And what happened to Job? Loss,
loss, loss. He took his cattle. He took his
servants. He took his children. He took
everything, didn't he? That's what the devils do. They
just take. Hardship and despair and loss. Why did these demons want to
go into these swine? Well, what did they do to the
swine? They killed them. They destroy them. That's what
they are, brothers and sisters. They're destroyers. They hate
humanity. Somebody asked why these demons
didn't want to leave this country. You notice they kept begging
Christ, don't cast us out of this country. Let us stay in
this country. And somebody said, why did they
want to stay here? Well, if the Lord gathered all
the demons out in San Francisco, do you think they'd want to leave
that place? Do you know anything about San Francisco? And I just about bet you, right
about this time in the history of our country, the demons don't
want to leave this country either. They're getting everything set
up, aren't they? They're getting it set up where they can take
over. That's why they didn't want to leave this country. There
were heathens here. There were apostate Jews here
raising their swine. They possessed these men. They
had it made. Don't send us out of the country
now. What can we learn? Well, we can
learn how far we've fallen. We can learn what humanity has
got itself into by sinning against God. Demons have come down among
us, white demons and black demons. And boy, look how they've dealt
with us. We face it in our lives every
day, don't we? We see it. We see it in our inner
cities, the open and profane. We see it in religion, the deceit
in religion. That's the first thing we learn.
Second thing, let's learn this from this incident. The Lord
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Savior, is the only hope
for this demon-possessed world. He's the only hope, brothers
and sisters. People tried to help this poor
man. He had friends. He had family. And they did everything
they could do to help this fellow. They bound him with chains when
he started just shaking. And he got wild and they said,
grab the chains, grab the feathers. We don't want him to go back
to the cemetery. So they bound him. But you know, he just broke
them. He just broke them. I imagine
he tried to help himself. I can just almost see this man
maybe laying out somewhere under the stars and he's feeling good. And he thinks, oh, I've got to
stay positive. I've got to think positive thoughts.
I can't yield to this anymore. If all this stays strong in my
mind, I can beat this. But boy, there comes the devils.
And they begin to rage within him. And he begins to cry. And
he grabs a rock and begins to cut himself. And back to the
cemetery he goes. Nobody could help this man. He
could not help himself. I want you to notice three things,
and I'll give you these three quick things. And I hope if you're
here this morning, and if you're lost or if you're saved, these
things may have an effect upon you. The first thing is this. I hope this makes you very serious.
I think it made this man very serious when he thought of this.
The first one is this. Think of this. It was by the
mercy of God that this man was preserved until Jesus found him
and saved him. It was by God's mercy that this
man did not do what these swine did. And isn't it amazing when we
see the power of these demons in 2,000 swine, making them run
over a steep place and choke themselves into the sea. And
all of these swine were in Him. And you know, they tempted Him
to do the same thing that these swines did. And why didn't He
do it? Why didn't He destroy Himself?
I bet you talked to Him and He'd tell you, it's owing to the mercy
of God. I don't know how long he was
in this condition. I don't know how old the man
was. But I tell you this, it was God's mercy that spared him
until Jesus found him. You think of the people this
morning, my dear lost friends, that are younger than you are.
And they've been dead for a number of years. I have friends Some killed themselves,
fooling around. Others in accidents. Other friends
that I went to school with have died of horrible diseases, and
you have too. You have too. And many of those
died without hope. I knew them personally. They
died without hope. And many of your friends died
without hope, and yet here you are this morning. And perhaps
here you are and you're lost. Why have you been preserved while
your friends have died without any hope? And I hope you don't attribute
to your being careful that you've lived this long. I hope you don't
attribute it to exercise and eating properly or your DNA. I hope that God has taught you
this truth, that you have been preserved, you have lived this
long, and it is solely the cause of His tender mercies and nothing
else. That there have been times when
justice pleaded with God to damn your soul for your sin. And the
demons have tempted you, or some awful disease has been eaten
away at you, and yet here you are to this very day, and you
are preserved. You have been kept in the land
of the living. And just perhaps, just perhaps,
It's been the purpose of God, the triune God who holds life
in His hands. Maybe it's His intention, His
gracious intention, that He has preserved you, that you should
hear the voice of His dear Son in the gospel and be saved. Isn't that a wonderful thought?
Don't you think this thought, Made this man so serious when
he thought about it? When he began to think, why didn't
I destroy myself? Why weren't the devils allowed
to destroy me? And it was a one-to-one thing.
God's mercy. I was almost drowned when I was
a child. Out just in time to get a breath. Paula Snow fell on me and they
pulled me out just before I took my last breath. In two car accidents,
I should have been killed in both of them. But I was preserved. Why? Until Jesus found me and
saved me. And I attribute that to nothing
but His tender mercies. I hope you go home this morning
and contemplate on this. Why have you been spared? Why
have you been spared? And secondly, I want you to consider
this, and I imagine this filled this poor maniac's heart with
love and humility when he found out about this. What the Lord Jesus faced just
to get to Him. What He faced just to get to
Him. What did he face? We're told
in the preceding chapters, and you can find it in Luke's Gospel
and Matthew's Gospel, that the Lord Jesus had got up early that
morning. He was up on the mountain preaching.
He'd come down from the mountain and there was a leopard that
He healed. And then the centurion had a servant that was sick and
he said, I'll come and heal him. He healed him. He went into Peter's
house. And his mother-in-law, Peter's
mother-in-law, was sick of the fever. He healed Peter's mother-in-law. And then they brought multitudes
to him. Those that were possessed with
devils and those that had these diseases. And he healed them
all. They interrupted his meals. And
he was tired and he was weary. He was so tired and weary, he
said, let's go across the sea and to the other side. And he
fell asleep in that boat. Even when the storm came down
and it was filling the ship, the Lord Jesus was so weary and
worn that he slept. He slept. Why couldn't he have
waited until the morning? Why couldn't he have just said,
I'm so tired this afternoon and it's eight miles across the lake. I'm going to wait and go in the
morning. Because he loved that maniac.
And the time of his deliverance had come. And the master denied
himself and his weariness and tardiness. And said, I'm going
to deliver one of my sheep. And his disciples began to cry
out to wake him. Lord, we perish. This storm is
going to drown us. We're perishing. And I can almost
see him as he sets up. And then he stands, and he has
to still himself, sturdy himself, because the boat is rocking violently. And there he stands, and his
body is drenched, and his clothes are drenched, and his black lots
are down in his eyes. And the rain and the wind is
burning his face. But does that keep him from this
man? It doesn't, does it? Can you
imagine how this man felt when he found out about that storm
the master endured? And he simply spoke to the wind
and he spoke to the raging sea and there was a great calm. And
then he comes on over and he confronts these devils and he
delivers this man. And when he found out what the
Lord Jesus went through, he did that for me. Just to deliver me. And oh, is
that anything, brothers and sisters, compared to the storm that the
Master went through to save you and to save me. Didn't He cry
from the cross, all thy ways? and all thy billows have gone
over me? He said, Thy wrath lies hard
upon me, and he hath afflicted me with all his waves. I sink in deep mire, where there
is no standing." And yet he endured that all. The awful wrath of
God upon our sins. the being made sin, whatever
in the world that means. He said, Is there any sorrow
like unto my sorrow, wherewith God hath afflicted me in the
day of His fierce wrath? And yet He endured it all, didn't
He? He went through it all and never
flinched. Why? Before He could get to you,
Glenn. He could only get to you by the
cross. He cannot get to us by His moral
life. He cannot get to us by fulfilling
the demands of the law in His life. He can only get to us by
doing the wrath of the law, owed to our sins. What did it cost Him to get to
you? It cost Him everything. It cost Him His blood, His heart's
blood, His life. The old songwriter said, what
are these blood drops along the way that mark out the mountain
tracks? They were shed for one who had
gone astray, or the shepherd could bring him back. But none
of the ransomed ever knew how deep were the waters crossed,
nor how dark was the night the Lord passed through, or he found
his sheep that was lost. Oh, we'll never know the depths
of what he went through. He told this guy to read and
he said, go tell them what great things I've done for you. And
I've had compassion. Tell them the whole story. Tell
them why I did what I did. Why did I endure the storm? Why
did I go to the cross? My love. My compassion. That's it. Lastly is this. This poor man
had to be filled with holy reverence when this happened. Gratitude
to the Lord when this happened. What did this poor man do when
the Lord Jesus got out of the boat and stepped on the shore?
He ran to him, didn't he? He ran right where the Savior
was. And I guess he must have got
down at his feet. But you'll notice here, he never
said a word. The devils took over the conversation. The devils were doing the speaking. And this poor man sat there,
or lay there, or knelt there, and he heard the Lord Jesus Christ
pleading his cause against these devils. But he never said a word. They were doing the talking.
They were pleading for the Lord Jesus to be merciful to them
and not send them out of the country. They were making requests. But this poor man could say nothing. This poor man was listening while
Christ was speaking. And then the demons would speak.
And Christ kept saying, He kept saying, come out of him. He kept
saying that. That's the gist of this scripture.
He kept saying, come out of him. And here this man was listening
while Jesus was pleading his cause. While Jesus was pleading
for him. And don't you think it filled
him with admiration and reverence that somebody like Jesus of Nazareth,
the Son of God, should take up his cause and plead his cause
against these wicked, powerful spirits? What could he have said
anyway? He did everything he could do.
And what was that? Simply come to the Savior. You know what man's problem is.
And I bet you identify somebody's problem here this morning. If
you're here this morning and you're lost, you know what your
problem is. You won't come to the Lord Jesus Christ. That's
the whole problem with humanity. They will not come to the Lord
Jesus Christ. Isn't that it? I was talking with a person the
other day. They was talking about they wanted to be saved and they
wanted to be right with God. I said, have you been seeking
His face? Well, no. Well, no. You know another problem with
men when they do say they come to the Lord, they won't quit
talking. It's talk, talk, talk, talk, talk. This man never said
a word. The Lord don't want to hear about
your plans. He doesn't want to hear about what you've got cooking
up. He doesn't want to hear about your resolves and your promises
and how you're going to do better. He didn't come to involve Himself
in your plans. He comes to save you from your
purposes. He comes to bring you into His
purpose. He comes to save you. And I'm
telling you, if He pleads your cause, He can save you by Himself
without you saying a word. Here would be my advice to people.
Come to Christ. Come to the Lord Jesus Christ. And say nothing. And see if He'll please your
cause. And if He's pleased to please
your cause, You'll be saved. You remember the story, I think
it's in Zechariah chapter 3, where we have the story about
a man by the name of Joshua, the high priest. I don't know
what sins he'd committed. But the Scripture says he stood
before the Lord. He stood before the Lord Jesus
Christ, the mediator between God and man, and he was dressed
in these filthy rags. And the devil was standing on
his right hand. And the Bible says he never spoke
a word. He never said a thing. He just stood there before the
Lord in those filthy garments. And the devil began to accuse
him of one thing and then another. And he never said a thing. He
didn't try to justify himself. He never said a thing. But the
Bible says the Lord said to Satan, the Lord rebuked you, Satan. Is this not a brand plucked out
of the burning? It ain't your prayers. It ain't
you bringing these pretty words and telling the Lord what you're
going to do and all your resolves. It's Jesus Christ pleading your
cause before God and saving you. And when He begins to plead your
cause and undertake for you, that's when the devils begin
to tremble. Just come to Him. Just come to
Him. That's the secret. Come to Him. That's what this man did. And
I'm telling you, if you'll come to Him, and He undertakes for
you, then all the devils in hell, however many they be, cannot
so much as hinder Him from saving you. If you want to hand in on it
and you want to keep talking, then He probably won't say a
word on your behalf. But if you'll shut your mouth and say, Lord,
I have nothing to plead, if you will plead my cause, then He
will. When He finds out you have nothing
to plead, He'll plead His own cause on your behalf. What a deliverance this was.
It was said here in verse 15 that this man was clothed, setting,
and in his right mind. Just like you are this morning.
You're setting, aren't you? I mean, Gibb was talking. It's alright to probably tell
this, Gibb. Gibb's not a Pentecostal, and
I ain't either. We offer up on the Pentecostal that we give.
We're talking about how silly they act and get out these tongues
and running and jumping and rolling and all this stuff. You know
what happens when the Lord saves you? You'll be still. You'll be quiet. You'll sit down. He don't make you crazy. He puts
you in your right mind. This man was running and screaming
and cutting himself until the Lord saved him. Stay away from
these Pentecostals. Boy, stay away from them. They're
bad in our day and getting worse. Luke's Gospel says this, The
Lord Jesus said to this man, Go tell them how great things
God has done for you. And he went and published how
great things Jesus had done for him. Ain't that amazing? What a revelation this was. Jesus said, go tell them what
God's done for you. And he went and said, here's
what Jesus has done for you. Is Jesus God? He is, isn't He? Here this dumb maniac knew it.
What a revelation that was. He knew more than all the Jehovah's
Witnesses knew. All the Mormons know. He said,
Jesus is my God and my Savior. He's yours too, isn't He? Don't
you love to say, Jesus Christ is God. Jesus Christ is God. He's our God and our Savior. Let's pray.
