Psalm 16
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8 ¶ I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Okay, this evening we're gonna
look at Psalm 16. Psalm 16. Notice right under the Psalm,
it's the Psalm of David, but it says Mictam of David. And
that word Mictam, as you see in the marginal reference there,
means golden, golden. Gold is something that's rare
and special. And certainly this psalm, being
the inspired God-given word, is certainly special to the Lord's
people. Mictam, which means golden or
precious, or a precious jewel. All those things are fit description
of the Lord Jesus Christ. His person is golden. He is precious. To you who believe, The Lord
Jesus Christ, he is golden, he is precious, as we studied in
the Song of Solomon. He's altogether lovely. He is
altogether lovely. He is a precious jewel. He's golden in his person, he's
precious in his person, and he is absolutely excellent in performing
all salvation from us. He's a precious jewel sent from
God's throne to accomplish our salvation. You reckon if the
Father decreed from eternity that the Lord Jesus Christ would
come as a surety covenant, as the eternal covenant, as the
sacrifice that was slain from the foundation of the world,
you think when He came here that He would fail in His mission? I can't even imagine such a thing,
that God sending someone to accomplish God's purpose and that person
failed. That can't be said of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Word
of God says he cannot fail. He cannot fail. God the Holy
Spirit gave these words to David and both Peter in his preaching
in Acts chapter 2 on the day of Pentecost, and Paul in his
first sermon there in Antioch of Pisidia that we studied in
Acts 13 on Sunday. both point to this Psalm declaring
from the Word of God that the resurrection of the Lord Jesus
Christ is evident, effectual, and true. He's not dead, he's
risen. He's risen from the dead. When
he by himself purged our sin, he sat down on the right hand
of the throne of God. Now, why is that especially good
news to the believers? Because the Lord Jesus Christ
came as a representative man, representing his people. When
he obeyed God and the law of God, that's what we did. His
obedience is our righteousness before God. When the Lord Jesus
Christ went to Calvary's tree with our sin, the sin of God
the elect laid upon him, having made full atonement for our sin,
that was God's people there being punished fully, totally, for
their sin in the substitute. What does that mean to us? There
is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ. God's
not going to punish my substitute, the Lord Jesus Christ, and then
turn around and punish me when he paid the full debt, and he
did. You see, what he did, by one man's disobedience many were
made sinners, by the obedience of another shall many be made
righteous. His life, his death, his resurrection. He didn't come as a private man,
live as a private man, die as a private man, or come out of
that grave the third day as a private man, or 40 days later ascend
to heaven and sit on the right hand of God as a private man.
He did that as a public head, as a representative man. The
old timers called that federal headship. And that's what the
Lord Jesus Christ has done for us. So his resurrection, without
that link, without that connection, Being so, we would have no salvation. Matter of fact, if he's not raised
from the dead on the third day, just as he said that he would,
just as the scripture said that he would, as Jonah was three
days in that fish's belly, even so the son of man was three days,
if he be not raised up the third day, we have no salvation. We have no forgiveness. and we
are yet dead in our sins. Now, I want to consider this
Psalm in four parts. And like I said earlier, this
is a Psalm of David. And this is a prayer of David,
but it's also a prayer for believer. But most especially, as we enter
in and look into this, it's the prayer of the God-man, the Mediator,
the Lord Jesus Christ, as he represents us. Now, let me give
you these four parts. In these 11 verses, we see in
verse one, the Lord Jesus Christ praying unto the Father, and
it is a prayer of faith. THE PRAYER OF FAITH. HE SAID,
I PUT MY TRUST IN YOU. I PUT MY TRUST IN YOU. AND THEN THE SECOND POINT WOULD
BE VERSE 2, DOWN THROUGH VERSE 5, WE SEE THE CONFIDENCE OF HIS
FAITH ALONE. THE CONFIDENCE OF HIS FAITH ALONE. And then the third point will
be the contentment of his faith in verse six and seven, the contentment
of his faith. And it's the faith of David and
the faith of believers as well. And then lastly, verse 8, 9,
10, 11, we see the assurance of His faith, the assurance of
His faith in His own resurrection glory. My flesh shall rest in
hope. Our Lord told those women, He
said, you remember when they were weeping as He went to Calvary
Street? He said, don't weep for me. HE
SAID, FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM, HE ENDURED THE CROSS.
HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS GOING TO ENDURE, AND HE KNEW THAT HE WOULD
GIVE UP HIS LIFE. HE SAID, FATHER, INTO THY HAND
I COMMEND MY SPIRIT. BUT HE ALSO KNEW, REMEMBER HE
SAID, I MUST SUFFER, I MUST BE RAISED UP THE THIRD DAY. THE
CONFIDENCE AND ASSURANCE OF HIS FAITH IN HIS OWN RESURRECTION
GLORY. NOW, LET'S LOOK AT VERSE 1. Psalm
16, verse one. Preserve me, O God, my God. Preserve me, O God, for in thee
do I put my trust. Now this is the Lord's prayer
unto the Father. It's David's prayer, but it's
also our prayer as well. WE CAN READ THAT PSALM 16 AND
TIE IT RIGHT INTO JOHN CHAPTER 17 AS WELL IN HIS HIGH PRIESTLY
PRAYER. PRESERVE ME, O GOD. HERE THE
LORD JESUS PRAYS AS THE RIGHTEOUS SERVANT OF GOD THE FATHER, ONE
MIGHTILY HELPED OF THE FATHER AS THE GOD-MAN MEDIATOR. NOW AS GOD IN HIS DEITY He doesn't
need any help. But as a God-man mediator, even
the angels came and strengthened him as he suffers in Gethsemane,
being in agony, remember? And the angels came and strengthened
him, even when he was tempted. You remember the devil? 40 days,
40 days and nights, eating nothing. The angels came and they ministered
unto him. Now, as God, he didn't need that,
did he? But as the man Christ Jesus,
he's a man just like you and I, suffered, tempted, tested
in all points, just as like we are, yet without sin. He was
a real man. And God preserved him as the
God-man mediator. Father, preserve me, keep me
as the apple of thy eye. Guard and watch over me as the
surety of the covenant. This was a promise that was made
to him by the Father WE WON'T TURN TO READ THIS, BUT IT SAYS
THAT IN ISAIAH 49, VERSE 8, I'VE LAID HELP UPON ONE THAT IS MIGHTY. I'VE GIVEN HIM AS A COVENANT
SURETY BY THE PROMISE OF ALMIGHTY GOD, EVEN WHEN HE WAS IN THE
DAYS OF HIS FLESH JUST AS A LITTLE TWO-YEAR-OLD INFANT. NOW, HOW
HELPLESS IS A TWO-YEAR-OLD INFANT? You remember when Herod went
about slaughtering all the children to destroy the Messiah that he
heard had been born? You remember the angel said,
Joseph, Mary, take that child down to Egypt. Even then, the
Father preserved him, didn't he? Even in his infancy. And
he was preserved there in the temptation in the wilderness
40 days. Satan couldn't lay a glove on
him. Why? God preserved him. preserved
him in his earthly ministry, even from among wicked men who
tried to one time throw him off a cliff, and he just passed right
through them. One time they picked up stones
of stoning, when they said, well, you make yourself God. When he
said, I am my father, one. Remember what they did? They
picked up stone to kill him. What happened? They couldn't
lay a hand on him. Why? Preserve me, oh God, when
thee do I put my trust. Even preserved by God Almighty
from the corruption of flesh, when he died for our sins, according
to scripture, he saw no corruption, his body, even though he has
made sin for us, having made full atonement for our sin and
put away our sin, the grave had no claim on him, did it? Death
had no claim on him. Corruption had no claim on him. Now, here's the good news. As
our union and as we're one with him, they call that, the old
timers called that vital union. Now, I've often told you that
we have a vital union with the Lord Jesus Christ. What's true
of the head is true of the body. How vital is your head to your
body? You take your head off and the
body's in trouble. The head is too. You see, they
go together. What's true of the head, the
Lord Jesus Christ is true of his body. As we're one with him
in that vital union, the elective gods are likewise preserved in
him. HE SAYS THIS, HE'S ABLE TO KEEP
US FROM FALLING AND TO PRESENT US THOUGHTLESS BEFORE THE PRESENCE
OF GOD'S GLORY WITH EXCEEDING JOY. YOU REMEMBER IN COLOSSIANS
1-22, HE SAYS THAT GOD'S PEOPLE ARE HOLY, UNBLAMEABLE, UNREPROVABLE
IN HIS SIGHT. WHY? WE'RE PRESERVED IN CHRIST
JESUS, KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD. AND I LIKE THE SECOND PART OF
VERSE 1, Indeed do I put my trust. I like
what Job said in Job 13, though he slay me, yet I'll trust him. Though he slay me, yet I'll trust
him. You know, the Lord Jesus Christ is the only man who had
perfect faith. He never doubted the father's
word, the father's promise. I can't say that. And you don't
dare you say it either. We're so frail. You remember
how many times the Lord told the apostles, oh, you have little
faith. Boy, that's me. The Lord Jesus Christ fully trusted
the Father perfectly. He had perfect faith as the God-man
mediator. He trusted Him at all times.
Now, that's what we're to do. David says that in Psalm 62,
trust Him at all times. Your people pour out your heart
before Him. God is a refuge for us. Trust
Him always. at all times, in all things,
in all circumstances. When we're up, when we're down.
When we're sad, when we're happy. Trust Him at all times. The Lord
Jesus Christ had perfect faith. You know, the perfection of His
faith is our righteousness. He's faithful in all things,
obedient unto death. Now here's the second part, the
confidence of his faith in God the Father, verse two, three,
four, down to verse five. My soul has said, verse two,
my soul, my heart, my being, thou hast said unto the Lord,
who is Jehovah my Lord. Now again, this is the God-man
praying for us, but it's David too. David certainly knew something
about heartache and sorrow, didn't he? Thou hast said unto the Lord,
thou art my Lord. Remember David said in another
place, the Lord is my light and my salvation. I love how he said,
he's mine, he's my light. And certainly the Lord Jesus,
the God-man mediator, LOOK TO THE LORD GOD JEHOVAH AS MY LORD,
MY GOD, AND MY FATHER, MY ALL, AND MY ALL. THE LORD JESUS HAS
THE SURETY AND ADVOCATE, MEDIATOR, GOD-MAN OF THE COVENANT. THE LORD JESUS BOWED HIMSELF
TO DO SERVICE UNTO THE FATHER ON THE BEHALF OF GOD'S ELECT.
Philippians 2 where it says, he thought it not robbery to
be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation and took upon
himself the form of a servant, became obedient unto death, even
the death of the cross. Thou art my Lord. In the garden
he prayed, Father, not my will, thy will be done. In thee do
I put my trust, O my soul. Thou hast said unto the Lord,
Thou art my God. Now, believers, David could say
that, and every believer can say that. And the God-man Mediator,
he said that. He's my Lord. This same Jesus,
whom you crucified, remember we read God had made him both
what? Lord and Christ. We don't make him Lord, we bow
to him. We bow to his Lordship, receive
him. Now this is an interesting statement
here, the second part of verse two. My goodness extended not
to thee, or we could say it does not add anything to the Lord,
our God. Now, the righteousness of Christ
His perfect obedience, His goodness, His obedience does not add to
the glorious perfection and character of God, does it? Oh, not at all. It reveals the character of God,
the Father's love, but it does not add to it, does it? His goodness
didn't extend to the Father. The Father didn't need that,
did He? The Father is holy in every way, holy, holy, holy.
The obedience of the Lord Jesus Christ doesn't add anything to
the perfect character of God. It reveals the Father's love
but does not add to it. It reveals the mercy of God but
it does not add to it. One old writer said this, God
would have remained the same in his holy character if no atonement
were made for our sins and we perished in our sins. You see,
Even the perfect redeeming work of the Lord Jesus Christ did
not add anything to the character of the Father, did it? That's
what he's saying here. My goodness doesn't extend to
thee, but now here, here's the good part for us, verse two,
verse three, rather. Psalm 16, verse three, but to
the saints, the saints that are in the earth. The goodness of
the Lord actually extends to the saints, but to the saints
that are in the earth. Now, who are these saints? We
see and we read in the Bible here, and some of these books
are called St. John, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. Paul, St. Jude, And we think maybe that
this term saint here is just reserved for some special elite
class of believers. But as I've often told you, every
believer is a saint. Because every believer is sanctified
in the Lord Jesus Christ. You understand that? We're all
saints in him. He's made unto us wisdom, righteousness,
sanctification and redemption. He is our sanctification. We're
set apart, that's what it means, set apart and declared holy by
God in Christ. set apart by divine election
and made righteous by the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. God
made him to be sin for us who knew no sin that we might be
made the righteousness of God in him. We are sanctified in
the Lord Jesus Christ in and by him. Our Lord prayed this
in John 17. He said this, and for their sakes
I sanctify myself that they also might be sanctified through thy
truth. Sanctify them through thy truth.
You remember John 17, 17? For thy word is truth. We're
regenerated and made new creatures in Christ. What he's saying is
this, believers are complete in him. We are saints. His goodness, his righteousness
extends to us. but to the saints that are in
the earth, to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. Remember the Father spoke from
heaven audibly to the Lord Jesus Christ, describing him at his
baptism, and then again on Mount Transfiguration. Remember what
the Lord, the Father, God the Father said about the Lord Jesus
Christ? in whom is all my delight. This is my well beloved son in
whom I'm well pleased, remember? And then he said in that, on
the Mount of Transfiguration, in whom I'm well pleased. Now
hear him, hear him. He is all my delight. God the
Father sees his people in the Lord Jesus Christ and what he
says of him, he says of us. God's not angry with us. He's
in love with us. Behold what manner of love the
Father has bestowed upon us that we should be called sons of God.
He is all our delight. God is delighted with us in the
Lord Jesus Christ. Although the saints have the
weakest thoughts of themselves and in themselves, We are the
chief of sinners. We're less than the least among
the saints. We can say with the apostle old
wretched man that I am, but the Lord Jesus Christ delight in
his bride, his church, his elect. BECAUSE WE'RE BLESSED IN HIM. HE LOVED THE CHURCH AND GAVE
HIMSELF FOR HIS CHURCH. DON'T TURN. LET ME JUST READ
THIS TO YOU. I WAS LOOKING AT THIS EARLIER TODAY. IN ISAIAH
62, IT SAYS, THOU SHALT NO MORE BE TERMED FORSAKEN, NEITHER SHALL
THY LAND ANY MORE BE TERMED DESOLATE, BUT THOU SHALT BE CALLED HEPHZIBAH. HEPHZIBAH. THAT'S MY NAME. What does that mean? The marginal
reference says, that is my delight is in her. That's what God says
of his people. And then, thy land shall be called
Beulah. For the Lord delighteth in thee,
and thy land shall be married. Remember, there was an old song
back years ago called Beulah Land, you remember? That's where
it comes from. You know what Beulah means? Married. WE'RE MARRIED TO THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST. HE'S OUR HUSBAND. HE'S OUR HUSBAND IN OUR HEAD.
NOW, WARNING, VERSE 4. THE SAINTS ARE BLESSED WITH ALL
SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS. GOD IS DELIGHTED WITH US AS WE
ARE ONE WITH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AS WE'RE SONS OF GOD, BELOVED
OF GOD IN HIM. THEIR SORROWS SHALL BE MULTIPLIED
THAT HASTEN AFTER ANOTHER God. There are drink offerings of
blood. Well, I'm not offer. David is
saying, and the Lord Jesus is saying, I won't give any sanction
to those who are worshiping another God, another gospel, another
spirit. You remember what Paul says of
those who preached another gospel, which is not another, Cursed
though an angel from heaven, but we are an angel from heaven
preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached
Well, you know, can't we all just get along? That's not what
he said Let him be accursed Our Lord had the sharpest harshest
rebukes For who the self-righteous who are going about to establish
their own righteousness. He had the kindest most merciful
words unto those who approached him as mercy beggars, as sinners. But those who stood up and said,
Abraham is our father, your they would justify yourself before
men. But God knows your hearts. Remember,
our Lord said, that which is highly esteemed among men is
an abomination in the sight of God. There's no hope for sinners
who seek after another God. Isaiah 45, you remember we read
Isaiah 45, 20, where it says, they pray unto a God that cannot
save. What good would it do to have
a multitude of, you know, down in Egypt, they had 700, 800 different
gods. They had gods of flies and frogs and all those things,
the lice, all those plagues that God, they had a God for every
one of those. And the Lord sent plague after
plague after plague. Would you trust an idol? You remember the heathen said
to David, David, where is your God? We know where our God is,
Dagon, Baal over here. David said, our God's in the
heavens, you remember? He'd done whatsoever he had pleased.
And the Lord says here, I'm not even gonna take their names
into my lips. You know, the Lord Jesus Christ,
as the covenant head and surety of God's people, he says, I pray
not for the world, He's not the mediator for every man in this
world. The surety, he's not the sacrifice
or the surety for every man in this world. He said, I pray not
for the world, I pray for those thou hast given to me. It says
that in John 17. John 17, I pray not for the world,
but for them you've given me. I jotted this down. Salvation
is not just a mere changing of doctrine, It's a changing of
gods. To believe the gospel is to,
as we've studied in 1 Thessalonians, that God turns his elect to the
true and living God, and when we're turned to the true and
living God, we turn from our idols, right? We don't look back
to those idols, those false refuge of lies, THAT WE CUT OUR TEETH
ON. WE'VE TURNED AWAY FROM THAT.
WE'RE LOOKING GODWARD, UPWARD TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, ALWAYS
LOOKING TO HIM. VERSE 5, THE LORD, PSALM 16,
5, THE LORD IS MY PORTION OF MY INHERITANCE. YOU KNOW, WHEN
YOU GO TO A READING OF A WILL, When a parent dies and the children
assemble for the lawyer to have the reading of the will, and
when you go there to hear the reading of the will, what do
you listen for? He listens for your part. What
is my part? Well, the Lord Jesus Christ is
all our part. He is our inheritance. The Lord
is the portion of my inheritance. We're heirs of God and joint
heirs with the Lord Jesus Christ. And my cup, we have a cup of
blessing is running over. He's blessed us with all spiritual
blessing and heavenly in Christ. And then the Lord says here of
his people, his saints in whom he delights, that he maintains
my lot. Now, you have a lot of property,
don't you? I mean a lot, L-O-T. You have a plot or a lot, right? Who maintains it? You all do,
don't you? Weed eating, mowing, all those
things. The Lord maintains our lot, our
lot of salvation, our lot of forgiveness. We don't maintain
it. Salvation's a gift of God. We
attain it as a gift of God. We don't maintain, we don't do
maintenance of it. on our house, we do maintenance
on our natural house, but we don't do maintenance on this
spiritual house. He said, I'll build my house,
I'll maintain my house, and the gates of hell shall not prevail
against this house. He maintains my lot, my life. My all in Him dwells all the
fullness of the Godhead bodily and we are complete in Christ. Look at verse six. The lines
are fallen unto me. Now here he's talking about the
providence of the Lord. And we often talk about the providence
of the Lord, and the providence of the Lord is what unfolds in
our life in time, has been decreed from eternity. The lines or the
decrees of God's providence have fallen out unto us on purpose. He gives us hands full on purpose. It's not, what's that old country
song used to, how'd that old country song used to go? If I
had no bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. It's not luck, fortune,
misfortune, mother nature, or lady luck. The lines of God's
providence fall out unto his people by his decree and his
unchanging purpose. And because of that, it says
here, pleasant places. The lines are fallen unto us
in pleasant places. Yea, he says, I have a goodly
heritage. Now the Lord Jesus Christ was
a man of sorrows acquainted with grief. He knew God had one son
with no sin, none without sorrow. We know what sorrow to some degree
is, not like he did, not like he knew. But even the Lord Jesus
Christ as a God-man mediator, he said, my heart is to do the
will of him because the lines of God's providence fell out
unto him in pleasant places, accomplishing our salvation.
And we can say that as well. All things work together for
good, and we know that all things work together for good. Well,
it hurts. Yeah, I know it hurts. It hurts. We have sorrows that
hurt. We have temptations that hurt,
and we know all things work together for good to them who love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose. And we're talking
about his eternal good for us. You know, if we didn't have heartache,
trouble, and sorrow, I think we just get so elevated with
pride. I think that's why Paul had that
thorn in the flesh. Lest he be exalted above measure,
remember the Lord said, I've sent you a thorn, the message
of Satan just to keep beating you down. Lest you be exalted
in yourself. But he said, he prayed, Lord,
take this away from me. The Lord said, I don't think
so. The lines are falling out of you in pleasant places. It's
good for you whom the Lord loveth. He chastens and scourges every
son whom he receiveth. I have a goodly heritage because
God is all our salvation. Verse seven, I will bless the
Lord who hath given me counsel. My reins, my heart also instruct
me in the night season thou. The Lord Jesus Christ is a mighty
God and a counselor, but as a God-man mediator, he learned obedience
by the things which he suffered. He said, the words I speak are
not mine, but my father's. My heart's instructed in the
night season, oh, to be taught of God. All those who have heard
and learned of the Father, they come to the Lord Jesus Christ
to be heart-taught. My heart also instruct me in
the night seasons, in the night seasons. You ever lay on your,
I know you do because you're like I am, but just try to lay
down and try to rest a minute, and your mind is still working. I mean, your body's laying there,
but your mind's going 100 miles an hour, isn't it? In the night
seasons. That's good for us to lay down
and to stop and to meditate upon the Lord, to think upon these
things. I've set, verse eight, the Lord
always before me. The Lord Jesus Christ was always
looking down to the Father. You remember he said, I must
be about my Father's business. He said, my meat is to do the
will of him that sent me to finish his work. He's at my right hand. He's ever near. He's ever near. I shall not be moved. Steadfast
in his obedience as the righteous servant of the Lord. Therefore,
verse nine, my heart is glad. My heart is glad. Obedience breeds
gladness. Obedience to the Lord, to the
will of the Lord, breathes gladness. And my glory, or my heart, or
my soul, does rejoice. My flesh shall rest in hope. Shall rest in hope, dwell confidently
in hope. When we take our dear loved one
to the cemetery, it's blessed for the believer to die in the
Lord. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his
saints. when we take our dear loved ones and we put them in
the ground, back to the dust, for the believer, their flesh,
they're with the Lord, but their flesh shall rest in hope. What kind of hope? It's a resurrection
hope. Our Lord said, because I live,
you shall live also. What a day that will be when
the Lord comes back. You ever think about, If you
think about all those, I drive down Route 23 there and look
on, look at that cemetery and that whole hillside there full
of all those bodies. I think about this about every
time I go through there. I buried some bodies up there
on that hill. And I think about their body
resting, but they rest in hope. One day that's gonna look like
a plowed field when the Lord comes back. And everybody in
there will be raised up, some to eternal life, his people,
but some to eternal condemnation. But for the believer, we have
a good hope through Christ. Verse 10, that will not leave
my soul in the grave. neither wilt thou suffer thy
holy one to see corruption." Now here he's talking specifically
about the Lord Jesus Christ, and we know that reference is
to Christ because both Peter and Paul quote this, verifying
the fact of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is according
to the word of the Lord. It's not some myth or some hearsay. It's according, he died for our
sins according to scripture, and on the third day he was raised
again according to the record of the Lord. Everything God has
promised, he will bring to pass. He will not suffer the Holy One,
the Lord Jesus Christ. His body never knew corruption
when his soul and spirit went out of that body. You remember
he said to the thief, today you're gonna be with me in paradise.
And his soul and spirit went to the father in that heavenly
paradise and he took that thief there. And they took that thief's
body down from the grave, didn't they? And they buried that body
somewhere, and that body saw corruption. And they took the
same, they took the body of the Lord Jesus Christ down the same
way, pulled them nails out, and his body fell limp to the ground,
and Joseph and Nicodemus came and wound it up and prepared
it to bury it and put it in the borrowed tomb. but he never saw
corruption, because he fully made atonement for the sin of
his people himself. Thou wilt not, thou wilt not
suffer the holy one to see corruption. He delivered for our fences and
raised again because he justified us. Verse 11, thou wilt show
me the path of life. He is the way of life. He said
to Mary and Martha, remember, when they said, when the Lord
said, your brother will rise again in the resurrection. Oh,
they said, we know that. But our Lord said, I am the resurrection
and the life. He that liveth and believeth
in me shall never die. Do you believe that? Yes, I do. That will show me the path of
life. He is the way, the truth, and the life. In thy presence,
in thy presence is fullness of joy. Those who are redeemed by
the blood of Christ, they sang worthy is the lamb that was slain
forever. To receive all honor, glory,
power, both now and forever in thy presence is a fullness of
joy. That's the eternal song. There's
no day or night in glory and eternity. It's just one eternal
right now. Eternal worship. No sin, no sorrow,
no crying, no death. One with him. Precious in the
sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Blessed are those
who die in the Lord. At thy right hand there are pleasures. In thy presence is fullness,
fullness in his presence, fullness of redemption, fullness of salvation,
completeness in him, joy forevermore. at thy right hand there are pleasures. Wow, I can't even imagine. Can
you? Pleasures forevermore.
