The sermon "Storm Warning #43" addresses the grace of God in salvation, emphasizing the doctrines of total depravity and sovereign grace as understood in Reformed theology. The key arguments include the portrayal of God as merciful and sovereign, able to save even the chief of sinners, and the importance of recognizing Christ as central to all aspects of salvation. Key Scripture references include Ephesians 2:2, Romans 11:36, and Jeremiah 9:23-24, which collectively underscore the believer's dependency on Christ for salvation and the necessity of glorifying God above self. The practical significance lies in the call to the awakened sinner to come to Christ, emphasizing that true acceptance of grace transforms one’s relationship to the world, and ultimately points to the necessity of a personal encounter with the sovereign Christ, urging listeners to place their faith and hope in Him.

Key Quotes

“The riches of this world are but the fancy of fools. And the honors of this world mean little or nothing, for to be a child of God is the highest calling.”

“No sinner ever came to Christ believing that he would be turned away, yet all sinners at the same time acknowledge that the right to bestow mercy belonged only to the Lord.”

“If my gospel fails to honor God's demands for perfect obedience and punishment for disobedience, it is not the gospel of God.”

“Today is the day of salvation. Call upon the name of the Lord while he may be found, and seek him while he is near.”

Warm greetings, friends, near
and far. The Lord Jesus Christ be magnified
forever and ever. His loving kindnesses, tender
mercies and compassions are new every morning. Great is his faithfulness. His mercy endureth forever. This is Sinner Saved coming at
you with the following short evangelistic gospel message,
which is sponsored by preacher Wayne Boyd and the Brethren in
Christ at First Baptist Church located in Almont, Michigan,
USA. And God willing, this broadcast
will reach you, Lima Charlie, loud and clear. It is my hope
and prayer unto God most high, the only holy father, that his
only begotten son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our righteousness, be
greatly exalted, that his everlasting gospel be clearly proclaimed,
that the pride of mere flesh and blood men be humbled, and
that his elect saints be greatly encouraged and comforted in these
evil and perilous times. Please consider having paper
and pencil handy to jot down the scriptural references for
your own follow-up study. And so we begin with the weekend
gospel message to follow for all hands. Heads up! Please find enclosed encouragement
in so great salvation. by the perfect and finished work
of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy, and wretched sinners
by His sovereign free grace, that is to say, Almighty God,
and His unmerited favor to save me and you from our sins and
from hell. A young student asked his Bible
teacher this question. How is the believer dead to the
world when he lives in the world, works a regular job, raises a
family, and owns property in the world? The teacher sent him
out to the gravesite of a friend with instructions to criticize
the dead friend, harass him and find fault, and then praise him
with glowing terms and brag on him to excess. Upon his return,
the teacher asked, "'What did your friend say when you criticized
him?' "'Nothing,' was his answer. "'How did he react when you praised
him?' The young man said, "'It made no difference to him. That
is what it means to be dead to this world, said the teacher.
Its applause means nothing, and its hatred means nothing. We
neither admire the people of this world, nor do we fear them.
The riches of this world are but the fancy of fools. And the
honors of this world mean little or nothing, for to be a child
of God is the highest calling. The religious traditions and
ceremonies of the world have no attraction nor meaning when
Christ is all. That which was once important
to us, we now consider loss for the excellency of the knowledge
of Christ our Lord. This spiritual life in Christ
cannot be explained, it must be Experienced! That was from
preacher Henry Mahan. David shows mercy to Shimei and
Mephibosheth. Friends, please see 2 Samuel,
chapter 19, verses 15 through 30. As sovereign, David's expression
of mercy is his own, to dispense or withhold as he pleases. But
power is most beautifully displayed not in the execution of justice,
but in mercy and tender kindness. No sinner ever came to Christ
believing that he would be turned away, yet all sinners at the
same time acknowledge that the right to bestow mercy belonged
only to the Lord. The good news is that there is
no record of mercy being withheld. from any needy sinner who sought
it. Praise God for that. The awakened
sinner comes to Christ knowing that there is a veritable list
of the who's who in sin and rebellion who have been frankly and freely
forgiven. Though a safe sinner often ponders
why the Lord should show mercy to such a one as him, he comes
in his heart saying, thou has saved others, why not me? To
die seeking the Lord's mercy is to die as no sinner ever died. We were enemies born so and we
revealed that enmity with our every breath, thought and action.
From birth, we were enlisted in the army of Satan gladly,
voluntarily and blindly. walking according to the course
of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air.
See Ephesians 2, 2. What we did not know was that
Satan had been defeated, his head bruised, his throne crushed,
and his kingdom routed. The gospel made us aware of this
great victory and put us face to face with the sovereign, the
victorious king of kings. The head of the snake has been
cut off and our world lay in ruins. What we saw was a wonder. There before our eyes were this
king's former enemies, men and women just like us, surrounding
him and joyously acknowledging his royal sovereignty. He had
shown mercy to them and to many others who had hated him. Can
I do else but fall at his feet? Perchance he will be merciful
to me. Lord, sovereign, victorious Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst
make me whole. And that wonderful message was
from preacher Tim James. A reading from Romans 11, 36.
For of him and through him and to him are all things to whom
be glory forever, amen. Speaking of God the Son, the
Lord Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul writes of three things that
should cause every child of God to continually rejoice in him.
Of him, Christ is the cause of all things. Through him, Christ
is the means of all things. To him, Christ is the end of
all things. The Lord Jesus Christ is Alpha
and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last,
Revelation 22, 13. Christ is all and in all, Colossians
3, 11. We don't make him Lord of our
life, he already is Lord. My only hope of redemption is
that God might make him Lord of my life. All things, especially
salvation, are of Him as the cause, through Him as the means,
and to Him in the end. Truly, God saves His elect for
His own namesake, Isaiah 48, 11. Has God shown you that? If He has, then you will proclaim
as Paul did, to Him be glory forever, amen. That was from
preacher David Edmondson. The gospel of God or another
gospel? We read numerous times in Scripture
of the gospel of God. Is my gospel the gospel of God? The gospel of God is the gospel
that lines up with the Old Testament Scriptures, gives God all the
glory and salvation, gives the preeminence to Jesus Christ in
all things, does not violate or contradict any of the attributes
of God, actually honors the law's demand for perfect obedience
and punishment for disobedience, meets the sinner where he is,
deadens sins, and gives him life, saves the very chief of sinners,
provides all God requires, keeps a man saved, enables a man to
face death and judgment with perfect peace, conforms a sinner
to perfect likeness to Christ, and enables him to rest in Christ's
finished work. If it fails to do any of those
things, it is not the gospel of God, but another gospel that
will not save. That was from preacher Todd Nybert.
Jesus, who passed the angels by, assumed our flesh to bleed
and die, and still he makes it his abode. As man, he fills the
throne of God. Our next of kin, our brother
now, is he to whom the angels bow. They join with us to praise
his name, but we the nearest interest claim. But ah, how faint
our praises rise! Sure tis the wonder of the skies,
That we who share his riches love, So cold and unconcerned
should prove. O glorious hour, it comes with
speed, When we from sin and darkness freed, Shall see the God who
died for man, And praise him more than angels can. A reading
from Matthew 25, 6. And at midnight there was a cry
made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet him. When Jesus, the bridegroom of
His church, first came, it was in a moment sudden and unexpected,
like the surprise at a midnight hour. And when Jesus cometh to
any of His people, it is unlooked for. Indeed, it is always midnight
in the soul of a sinner, when the cry is made. But how blessed
is the cry when a poor lost perishing sinner is advanced to the midnight
of death on the verge of an approaching eternity and in that season hears
the voice of the Son of God and lives. How many like the thief
on the cross or like the jailer at Philippi have been surprised
into grace at such seasons by the sovereignty of him who calleth
things that are not as though they were. Precious Jesus and
all the circumstances of life in the midnight of nature the
midnight of carnal security, the midnight of sleep, in which
even thy dear children are so liable to be found. Oh, that
we may hear thy voice and go forth to meet thee, and, Lord,
let the going forth of thy redeemed be, not with the lamp of a mere
profession, but with the enlightened oil of grace, that we may meet
thee with all our affections alive, to hail and welcome thy
coming, so that at midnight, or cock crowing, or in the morning,
when Jesus saith, behold, I come quickly, our souls may cry out
in joyful reply, even so, come, Lord Jesus. That was old-timer
preacher Robert Hawker. A reading from Jeremiah 9, verses
23 and 24. Thus saith the Lord, let not
the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory
in his might. Let not the rich man glory in
his riches, but let him that glorieth glory in this, that
he understandeth and knoweth me. So we are allowed to glory. But in what and in whom? Not
in ourselves. That is forever disannulled.
The Lord has purposed a poor contempt upon all human glory,
that none should glory in himself, whatever he be or whatever he
have. But when a man has a view of
the Son of God in his beauty, in his suitability, in his heavenly
grace and divine glory, then he can and may glory in the Lord. He can say, oh what a Lord there
is above. How glorious is he in his excellency
and his suitability and in his blessedness. How glorious his
wisdom, his righteousness, his sanctification and his redemption. Let my whole glory be there. Let me not take to myself a single
atom of it. If I am wise, let me give him
the glory for being my wisdom. If righteous, let me give him
the glory of being my righteousness. If I have any fruit of the Spirit,
let me give Him the glory of being my sanctification. If I
am redeemed from death and hell, let the glory of my redemption
be His. This is doing as God would have
us to do, glorying in His dear Son. And the Lord will bring
all His people to this spot sooner or later. He will give them such
views of the effects of the fall, of the misery of sin, and of
their own helplessness, and will give them such gracious views
of His dear Son, and shall wean them from glorying in the creature
and make them glory in the Lord as all their salvation and all
their desire. It may be a long course of severe
discipline, but the Lord will eventually bring all His people
there, for He has determined to glorify His dear Son. And
when we can thus glorify Him, then we have the mind of Christ
and are doing the will of God." Another old-time preacher, J.C.
Philpott. Reading from Psalm 104 verses
1 through 5. Bless the Lord, O my soul. O
Lord, my God, thou art very great. Thou art clothed with honor and
majesty, who covers thyself with light as with a garment, who
stretches out the heavens like a curtain, who layeth the beams
of his chambers in the waters and maketh the clouds his chariot.
who walketh upon the wings of the wind, who maketh his angels
spirits, his ministers a flaming fire, who laid the foundations
of the earth, that it should not be removed forever. Blessed be the name of God forever
and ever, for wisdom and might are his, and he changeth the
times and the seasons. He removeth kings and setteth
up kings. He giveth wisdom unto the wise,
and knowledge to them that know understanding. He revealeth the
deep and secret things. He knoweth what is in the darkness,
and the light dwelleth with him. Daniel 2, verses 20 through 22.
which in his time he shall show, who is the blessed and only potentate,
the King of kings and Lord of lords. 1 Timothy 6.15, hallelujah. It is written in Isaiah 45.22,
where our Lord Jesus Christ commands, look unto me and be ye saved,
all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else.
Also the master says in Matthew 11, 28 through 30, Come unto
me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn
of me. For I am meek and lowly in heart,
and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and
my burden is light. Friends, it is imperative that
you flee to Christ Jesus today, not tomorrow, for none of us
are promised another day on this planet. Today is the day of salvation. Call upon the name of the Lord
while he may be found, and seek him while he is near. Only by
being in Christ, the ark of our salvation, may we be delivered
from the fierce wrath of Almighty God, which is coming soon upon
the wicked. This about wraps up this evening's
broadcast. I trust almighty God will awaken
his sleeping elect and draw multitudes of men, women, and children around
the world to his only begotten son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our
righteousness, Yehovah Sidkenu, bless his name, Baruch Hashem. Hey, I'd like to give a shout
out to dear brother Chris, up in New York State and to all
the sweet brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus along with preacher
Wayne Boyd and his wife Vicki at First Baptist Church. located
in Alamont, Michigan. Praise God Almighty. I am so
grateful for your generosity in sponsoring the Storm Warning
broadcast. In doing so, you are propagating
Almighty God's everlasting gospel to the glory of the Lord Jesus
Christ. And who knows how many people
around the world and from where are tuning in. Praise God. Thank
you. God bless you kind folks. Great
is our Lord Jesus Christ, and greatly to be praised. Take heart,
friends. Our mighty and glorious King
of Glory is inbound for his afflicted saints. Even so, come quickly,
Lord Jesus. Maranatha.
