In this sermon titled "Storm Warning #39," various speakers emphasize the importance of securing salvation through Jesus Christ, highlighting the Reformed doctrine of salvation by grace alone. They argue that the urgency for repentance and a righteous life arises from the imminent reality of sin, judgment, and the return of Christ. Key biblical references include Matthew 11:28-30, which invites the weary to find rest in Christ, and 2 Peter 3:11-12, reminding believers to live in light of Christ’s return. The sermon serves to encourage the faithful to seek a deeper communion with God, to recognize their own inadequacy outside of Christ, and to motivate them to live sacrificially for the benefit of others, reinforcing the central tenet of sanctification.

Key Quotes

“Oh, give me Christ, or I perish! Give me His blood to pardon me, His righteousness to justify me, or I am damned forever!”

Warm greetings, friends, near
and far. The Lord Jesus Christ be magnified
forever and ever. His loving kindnesses, tender
mercies, and compassions are new every morning. Great is His
faithfulness. His mercy endureth forever. This is Sinner Saved coming at
you with the following short evangelistic gospel message.
which is sponsored by preacher Wayne Boyd and the Brethren in
Christ at First Baptist Church located in Almonte, Michigan,
USA. And God willing, this broadcast
will reach you, Lima Charlie, loud and clear. It is my hope
and prayer unto God most high, the only holy father, that his
only begotten son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our righteousness, be
greatly exalted, that his everlasting gospel be clearly proclaimed,
that the pride of mere flesh and blood men be humbled, and
that his elect saints be greatly encouraged and comforted in these
evil and perilous times. please consider having paper
and pencil handy to jot down the scriptural references for
your own follow-up study. And so we begin with the weekend
gospel message to follow. For all hands, heads up! Please find enclosed encouragement
and so great salvation by the perfect and finished work of
our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy, and wretched sinners
by his sovereign free grace, that is to say, almighty God,
and his unmerited favor to save me and you from our sins and
from hell. the great object of our lives. To exalt the Lord Jesus Christ,
to comfort his beloved people, and to benefit our fellow men
should be the great object of our lives. For this purpose,
we were chosen by the Father, redeemed by the blood of the
Son, and are sanctified by the Holy Spirit To accomplish this
end, grace is given us, gifts are conferred upon us, and life
is continued to us. We only live consistently as
we live for the benefit of others. No Christian should make self
his main end. Therefore, the apostle says,
look not every man on his own things, but every man also on
the things of others. If we are influenced by the grace
of God, if we study to commend ourselves to God, if we are ruled
by the Word of God, our principal object will be to do good unto
all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Upon this, we shall keep the
eye steadily fixed toward this. We shall bend all our energies,
and upon this we shall habitually set our hearts. Friends, that
was an excerpt from Christ Exalted, Saints Comforted, and Sinners
Directed, by preacher James Smith, the year of our Lord, 1855. The Master, our Lord Jesus Christ
said in Matthew 11, 12. The kingdom of God suffereth
violence, and the violent take it by force. We say hunger will
break through stone walls. Desperate circumstances make
men violent. Thus it is with a convinced sinner. He sees himself in the city of
destruction. And Moses has set his house on
fire, as Mr. John Bunyan says in his Pilgrim's
Progress. Now he cannot think of God, sin,
death, judgment, heaven and hell with indifference. No, he is
awake. He sees the importance of them.
His soul is alive. He feels the weight of them. He finds sin has destroyed him. The law terrifies him. Death
stares him in the face. Judgment alarms him. He trembles
to see hell moved from beneath to receive him. Now his fancied
good works, his morality, et cetera, stand him in no stead. He hungers after righteousness. His apprehensions of wrath make
him violent. His hunger is keen. He besieges
the kingdom of God with eager prayer. He forces his way through
every opposition. He breaks through every wall
of obstruction with the prayer. Oh, give me Christ, or I perish! Give me His blood to pardon me,
His righteousness to justify me, or I am damned forever! This is fleeing for refuge. This is like one escaping for
his life from dreadful flames and devouring fires. This is
being violent. Such take the kingdom of God
by force. Though by grace we are brought
into the kingdom of God and enjoy pardon of sin and peace with
God through our Lord Jesus Christ, yet the Lord forbid that we should
so lose our conviction of divine truths as to have done with holy
force and violence. Soldiers of Christ, to arms! What? Think of laying down your
arms of defense and folding your hands to sleep on an enemy's
ground when all around are up in arms against you? Come, come,
there is enough yet before you to alarm you and to call up your
violence. Sin is within you. Satan is plotting
against you. The world would ensnare you. Death and judgment approach you. As it is written, the day of
the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens
shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall
melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are
therein shall be burnt up. Oh, dream not over dry doctrines
and empty speculations, so as to be proof against the force
of these solemn events, and to lose your holy violence, as it
is written in 2 Peter 3, 11 through 12. For seeing that all these
things shall come to pass, what matter of persons ought we to
be in all holy conversation, looking for the coming of the
day of the Lord, Let me ask the important question. Brethren,
be not too secure. What is it to be a Christian?
How may our hearts assure us? Vain is all our best devotion,
if on false foundations built. True religion's more than notion. Something must be known and felt. Friends, that was an excerpt
from A Spiritual Treasury for the Children of God, Volume 2,
by preacher William Mason, a long time ago. The next is entitled, As We Grow
in Grace and in the Knowledge of Christ. The longer a redeemed
sinner lives, the more he will want to know Christ. The brighter
the revelation of Christ to his soul, the blacker self will be
in his apprehension. The more his heart is warmed
with a sense of the love of his God, the more he will mourn because
of his coldness and deadness. This is a paradox which no hypocrite
or mere professor can understand. As the child of God grows in
grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
and sees more of His beauty, enjoys more of His bounty, and
feels more of His blessedness, the more He is brought into a
true conception of what He is in Himself. As a wretched, ruined,
undeserving, and hell-deserving sinner, Yet he discovers something
else, a heart yearning, longing, panting, and desiring after communion
with a glorious God and fellowship with a precious Christ. As he
grows in grace, Christ is exalted and self is abased. Preacher Thomas Bradbury, Why, O Lord Jesus? I asked the Lord that I might
grow in faith and love and every grace, might more of His salvation
know, and seek more earnestly His face. T'was He who taught
me thus to pray, and He, I trust, has answered prayer. But it has
been in such a way as almost drove me to despair. I hoped
that in some favored hour, at once he'd answer my request,
and by his love's constraining power, subdue my sins and give
me rest. Instead of this, he made me feel
the hidden evils of my heart, and let the angry powers of hell
assault my soul in every part. Yes, more, with his own hand. He seemed intent to aggravate
my woe, Crossed all the fair designs I schemed, Blasted my
gourds and laid me low. Lord, why is this? I trembling
cried. Will you pursue your worm to
death? This is the way, the Lord replied. I answer prayer for grace and
faith, These invert trials I employ. from self and pride to set you
free and break your schemes of earthly joy that you may seek
your all in me. That was from old time preacher, John
Newton. Love and chastisement. The master. saying in Revelation
3.19, friends, as many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Sorrowing
believer, what could you wish more than this? Your furnace
is severe, but look at this assurance of him who lit it. Love is the
fuel that feeds its flames. Its every spark is love. It is
kindled by your heavenly Father's hand. and designed as a pledge
of his special love. How many of his dear children
has he so rebuked and chastened, and all for one reason, I love
you, I love them, saith the Lord. The myriads in glory have passed
through these furnace fires There they were chosen, there they
were purified, sanctified, and made vessels fit for the master's
use. The dross and the alloy purged
that the pure metal might remain. Are you to claim exemption from
the same discipline? Are you to think it strange concerning
these same fiery trials that may be purifying you? Rather
exalt in them as your adoption privilege. Do not envy those
who are strangers to the refining flames, who are without chastisement. You should surely rather have
the severest discipline with a father's love than the fullest
earthly cup without the father's smile. Oh, for grace to say,
when the furnace is hottest and the rod sorest. Yet, yes, father,
for this was your good pleasure. And what, after all, is the severest
of your chastisements in comparison with what your sins have deserved?
Do you murmur under a father's correcting love? What would have
been to have stood the wrath of an unpropitiated judge and
that too forever? Surely in the light of eternity
the heaven heaviest pang of earth is indeed a light affliction. Oh, thank you lord god almighty
for your only begotten son the lord jesus christ There is a fountain filled with
blood drawn from Immanuel's veins, and sinners plunged beneath that
flood lose all their guilty stains. The dying thief rejoiced to see
that fountain in his day, and there have I, as vile as he,
washed all my sins away. Dear dying lamb, thy precious
blood shall never lose its power till all the ransomed church
of God be saved to sin no more. E'er since by faith I saw the
stream, thy flowing wounds supply. Redeeming love has been my theme
and shall be till I die. When this poor, lisping, stammering
tongue lies silent in the grave, Then, in a nobler, sweeter song,
I'll sing thy power to save. That was from old-timer brother
William Kalper, who suffered severe depression and, ah, the
Lord is good. It is written in Isaiah 45, 22, where our Lord Jesus Christ commands,
look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for
I am God, and there is none else. The master also says in Matthew
11, 28 through 30, Come unto me, all ye that labour, and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me. For I am meek and lowly in heart,
and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and
my burden is light. Friends, it is imperative that
you flee to Christ Jesus today, not tomorrow, for none of us
are promised another day on this planet. Today is the day of salvation. Call upon the name of the Lord
while He may be found, and seek Him while He is near. Only by
being in Christ, the ark of our salvation, may we be delivered
from the fierce wrath of Almighty God, which is coming soon upon
the wicked. This about wraps up this evening's
broadcast. I trust Almighty God will awaken
His sleeping elect and draw multitudes of men, women, and children around
the world to His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus, the Lord our
righteousness, Yehovah Sidkenu. Bless His name. Baruch Hashem. If you are led to the Lord to
