Bibles again, and turn to the
book of Proverbs 12. I'd like to look at one verse
of Scripture, Proverbs 12, verse 22. Proverbs 12, 22. This is what the Scriptures say. And again, what the Scriptures
say. That is going to stand. Verse 22 says, Lying lips are
abomination to the Lord, but they that deal truly are His
delight. I've entitled this message, God
is Disgusted and Delighted. And you know, when I read that
scripture, the thing that hits me is this. What God has said is going to stand. I know that. This verse of Scripture deals
with what disgusts God and that which pleases Him. And whatever disgusts Him and
whatever pleases Him, I want to know what that is. I need to know. I've got to know. It would seem to me that any
rational person would desire to know that. Don't you want to know that which
disgusts God and that which pleases Him? Based on that scripture
right there, lying lips are abomination. I looked the word up. Abomination. You know, there's another word,
you know. Abomination. Well, I've heard that word. What
does it mean? Disgust. Lying lips. Disgust the Lord. John 12, 48 says, He that rejecteth
me and receiveth not my words hath one that judges him. The
Word, listen to this, the Word that I have spoken, the same
shall judge him in the last day. This is going to be the standard.
God's Word. Not man's intention. Not the best they could do. God's Word. I want to know. I do. I want to know what God
has to say. Romans 3, 4 says, Yea, let God
be true, and every man a liar. Let God be true. Let every man
just say, I'm a liar. Now, this is the first thing. There's only two points in this. Lying lips are abomination to
the Lord. Now my question would be this,
where did this start? Where did lying lips start? Turn to Genesis 3, 1-4. Here's
where it all started right here. Genesis 3, verse 1-4. Now the serpent was more subtle
than all beasts of the field which the Lord God had made.
And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, You shall not
eat of every tree of the garden. And the woman said unto the serpent,
We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the
fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God
hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it,
lest you die. And the serpent said unto the
woman, Ye shall not surely die. Now, the bottom line is this. Lying. Lying on God. Disputing. And this is the heart
of lying right here. Disputing what God has to say. That's the very heart of lying.
John 8. Let me read this to you. John
8, 43, 44. The Lord's talking to some Jews
and He says, Why do you not understand my speech? Even because you cannot
Hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil,
and the lust of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from
the beginning and a bow not in the truth, because there is no
truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh
of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it." Now, back
in Proverbs 12, verse 22, here is the bottom line This is the source of all lying
on God when it comes to men standing in the pulpit and telling men
something contrary, as Paul says, if any man preach any other gospel
than that which we've preached unto you, the gospel of free
grace. Anathema. Anathema. Let it be accursed. Those are sobering words. Where did all lying on God come
from? It came from the devil. He's
the father of lies. He said, you are of your father
the devil. He was a liar. He was a murderer
from the beginning. And you're just like him. And
that's sobering. You know, men, they don't like
to be told that they're lying on God. But my question is this. If they say anything contrary
to the Scriptures, what does God have to say about it? And
that's the only thing that really matters. He said lying lips are
an abomination to the Lord. He disgusts Him. I know how we want to say, well,
men are sincere. I know that. But as I told you
before, Hitler was sincere. But the problem is to say anything
contrary, to give men a false hope, you're not giving them
any hope because the Spirit of God does not bless a false gospel. He doesn't bless that. All it's
doing is giving men a false hope. And God's disgusted with it. I can't tell you the fullness
of that, but I can tell you the end of it. In that day, when
they stand before God and try to plead their case, there won't
be any pleading that has any profit to it. This is what I
need. I desire that God Almighty have
mercy on me. I'm not trying to be anything
other than honest. This is the bottom line. Lying
lips discuss God. I know the source of it. The
source of it is Satan himself, the devil. The Lord said that.
He is the father of lies. When men stand in pulpits today,
And you tell them you are speaking directly from Satan himself. But they that deal truly are
his delight. You know the source of that.
The Lord Jesus Christ said, I am the way. I am the truth. I am
the lie. No man cometh to the Father but
by Me. So lying is from the father of
lies. Truth is from the Son of Truth.
Christ Himself. 1 John 2.22. Who is a liar? denieth that Jesus is the Christ."
And men will say, I don't deny that Jesus is the Christ. I give
every man a choice. But when you understand what
he's saying when he says that Jesus is the Christ, when you
see what the Scripture has to say concerning the Christ, that
God has chosen Him, that God made Him the surety, That He,
in that everlasting covenant of grace, agreed to the surety
ship. That the Christ came into this
world to save His sheep, that's what the Scripture sets forth
as being the Christ. Not the one that's trying. Remember,
we just established that last service. God is not a failure.
When we say the Christ, we're talking about the Savior. He
shall save His people from their sins. Things are not open-ended
with God in salvation. It's not possible. God Almighty
shall save His people. The Christ. Who is a liar? He that denieth that Jesus is
the Christ. He is anti-Christ. I heard Brother
Henry say this one time. I thought, you know, men are
not anti-religion. They're not anti-morality. They're
anti-Christ. They will not vow until God gives
them a new heart. He is anti-Christ that denies
the Father and the Son. He denies what God says. He denies
what Christ says. the Lord Jesus Christ, Jesus
of Nazareth, the true, eternal Son of God. He is the Messiah
spoken of, prophesied by the prophets, typified in the Old
Testament, the showbread candlestick. That is Him. He is the Savior
of God's elect, and to deny Him is to lie on Him, and God is
disgusted with it. 1 John 2, 4, He that saith, I know
Him, and keepeth, doesn't watch, doesn't hold fast, doesn't guard
His commandments, His precepts, His Word, His admonition, is
a liar, and the truth is not in it. The question would be this, is
a person that proclaims a message contrary to the gospel that gives
total honor, glory, and praise to God Almighty for salvation,
is that person that stands in a pulpit preaching a message
that does not Give all of the glory of salvation to Christ. Is He a liar? Yes. He's a liar. He is a liar. Is this the only message that
God honors? Yes. Romans 1.16, Paul said, I'm not
ashamed of the gospel of God. It is the power of God unto salvation. You never find the Scriptures
ever bearing out that God blesses any other message except sovereign
grace. The only message. And I know
what men are going to say. They're going to say, you are
just arrogant. Wasn't it Brother Scott that
says that men say, I just don't see... see Christ in you with
that kind of spirit. And Brother Scott said they didn't
see Christ in Christ. They didn't see the glory of
God in Him. This is the message. It is Christ's honor, Christ's
glory, Christ's power, Christ's purpose. He does as He will in
the army of heaven. He is the anointed of Jehovah,
union of divine and human nature. And He absolutely gets the job
done. And what we're doing is we're
setting forth that God has a people and He's going to save them.
And He's not going to try to save them. He's going to save
them. Abomination to the Lord. You cannot get around the fact
that He has chosen a people in the Lord. That the Lord Jesus
Christ said, I laid down my life for the sheep. And some Jews
came to Him and said, why don't you be straight up about this?
Why don't you tell us the truth? Why don't you be truthful with
us and tell us The truth. And he said, I told you the truth,
John 10. I told you the truth. And you
believe not. Because you're not my sheep. I know. How man by nature. I can understand. I do understand
how man by nature resists that. But it doesn't change the fact.
It does not change the fact. It's not based on what I think
and you think. God Almighty has set forth, lying
lips, lying on my son, disgusts me. There's hope in only one. pleased to manifest Himself. May we be pleased to follow after
Him and say, Lord, as You said, You are. Lord, keep us according
to Your grace. Lord, don't let us waver. We know that God is going to
keep His people and still we'll ask for that. Lord, help me.
We know that God's going to forgive His own. And we say, Lord, forgive
me. And when he died spiritually, he then did not believe God.
We have to be given a new heart. We have to be given new life
to proclaim, to behold and to believe Him who alone is able. Revelation 5-2, I saw a strong
angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who's worthy? And that's what it comes down
to, the worthy. Who's worthy? Who's worthy to open the book
and to loose the seals thereof? Who's worthy to break open the
seven seals? of the revelation of God's redemption
for a fallen race. Who's worthy to set forth what
God has done? And the Scripture says, no man
in heaven nor in the earth, neither under the earth, was able to
open the book and to look thereon. And John said, and I wept. And
that strong angel says, weep not. The Lion, the powerful,
the mighty, the line of the tribe of Judah, the kingly line. He who is the King of kings,
he's able. He's worthy. And the 420 elders
threw their crowns, the Scripture says, and said, You're worthy
to receive all the honor and glory and praise because You've
redeemed us No one was worthy, and now you're worthy. Here's the truth. Here's the
truth. They that deal truly are His
delight. Job 33, 23, 24. If there be a messenger with
Him, an interpreter, one among a thousand to show unto man,
his uprightness, then he is gracious unto him." If God shows a man
hope, God's gracious to him, and He says, deliver him from
going down to the pit. I found a ransom. I found one. I found one table. When did He
find him? He everlastingly found him. He
said I was ever before him. This is what delights God. This is what pleases God. I know
what disgusts Him. I know what disgusts Him. Lying lips. I don't have to sit
here and dwell on that. I know what disgusts Him. A false
gospel. I know. But tell me what He's
delighted in. Here's my hope. Tell me what
God Almighty has delighted in. He's delighted in His blessed
Son. This is My beloved Son in whom
I'm well pleased. You want to talk about faithfulness?
Let's talk about His. You want to talk about love for
the Father? Let's talk about His love for
the Father. Why? Because that faithfulness
is imputed to me. I'm not standing here proclaiming
how faithful I've been. I know better than that. I'm not going to lie on God.
Everything that He imputes to me is Christ's. Well done, my good and faithful
servant. I continue to think about that
Scripture. Lord, if you would mark iniquity, who could stand?
Lord, if you took into account every time I deviated, who would
ever stand before God? But here is what delights Him. His precious Son. And I'm telling you, the Son
delights God's people too. It is a delightful thought for
me to think that He's in our presence today. I'm not saying
something He didn't say. I didn't make that up. He said
where two or three are gathered together in my name, in the midst
of His honor, in the midst of the proclamation of His truth,
He's in the midst of us. How? I don't know. I know He dwells
in the hearts of His people. I know where we're meeting together
honoring Him. He's hearing exactly what's being
said right now. And He knew what I was going
to say before it ever came out of my mouth, that He would give
me a heart to honor Him. I don't want to dishonor Him.
I don't. And I know the greatest honor that is given to the Lord
Jesus Christ is the proclamation of Him, His faithfulness, His
honor, His glory. It honors Him. When we set forth
that He came into this world as our substitute for as much
then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself
likewise took part of the same, that through death He might destroy
him that had the power of death. That is the devil. It honors
the Lord when we speak of His incarnation and His obedience
and His death, His substitution, His resurrection, His ascension,
standing now before the throne of God. Not wrong. I made a wrong statement. Seated. Seated. Seated. He done. It honors Him. Whenever we speak
of His substitutionary death, it honors Him when we speak of
the Spirit of God who honors Him and speaks of Him regenerating
His people. This is the delight of Almighty
God. Lying lips disgust Him. Oh, but they that deal truly. That word means faithfully. They
that deal faithfully. We're here this morning, just
a group of struggling sinners converted. And we're converted
by the grace of God. Sitting here to learn of Him.
To eat of the bread of heaven. the drink of the water of life.
And we know that we are what we are by the grace of God. And
we glory only in Him. We glory in the cross, not in
that piece of wood. I'm not talking about a piece
of wood. I'm talking about Him who hung there, but is not there
anymore. He who has made sin Not anymore. All grace, all power. He was delivered for our offenses,
raised again for our justification. Means because of. God was going
to look on us from before the foundation of the world. And
He's revealed it unto us. Now, here's what I know. This
is what I know. God has saved some people. I know that. He's saved some
people. He's chosen them in Christ. Christ
has redeemed them. And some He's already called
out of darkness. And some He will call out of
darkness. We have been saved. We are being saved. And we shall
be saved. Who has saved us and called us. I pray that God is pleased to
call out of darkness those that He saved. When Scripture says He saved
us and called us, salvation is an eternal thing. Why? Because Christ, who is our
salvation, is eternal. He is our life. Salvation is
not an event. Salvation is a person. You know
how I know that? You remember, was it Zacharias? I can't remember the priest,
the one that was in the temple. They brought in the Lord Jesus
Christ, eight days old. And he held that little infant. And he said, Lord, let Thy servant
now depart in peace, for mine eyes have seen Your salvation. Salvation is not an event. Salvation
is Christ. who has saved us and called us
with a holy calling. It delights God when men deal,
set forth truthfully the honor of His blessed Son. May the Lord
bless these words to our heart. For Christ's sake, Amen. Let's stand together.
