This sermon, titled "A Wedding Song" and based on Psalm 45, articulates the beauty and majesty of Christ as the King and His relationship with the Church, depicted as His bride. John Chapman emphasizes the theme of love between Christ and His followers, illustrating how this deep affection should cultivate a heartfelt worship among believers. He supports his claims by referencing the Scriptures within Psalm 45 and other texts such as Revelation and Isaiah, demonstrating that Christ’s reign is eternal and characterized by righteousness, grace, and truth. The practical significance lies in the call for Christians to wholeheartedly adore Christ, recognizing their identity as heirs in His kingdom and the necessity of a loving, worshipful relationship with Him to live out their faith authentically.

Key Quotes

“True worship begins with love because you worship that which you love.”

“He’s the love of your life… Straightening up, not drinking, not doing this, not doing that, that ain’t going to save me. Christ saves me.”

“His word is His sword. His weapon is His Word… When God speaks, it happens.”

“His throne, O God, is forever and ever. His reign is one of perfect righteousness and justice.”

What does the Bible say about the beauty of Christ?

The Bible depicts Christ as matchless in beauty and graciousness, exemplified in Psalm 45.

Psalm 45 beautifully illustrates the majesty and grace of Christ, declaring Him to be 'fairer than the children of men' (Psalm 45:2). This passage highlights not only His divine beauty but also His humanity, emphasizing that there is 'no man like this man.' The greatness of Christ is acknowledged in Scripture as He embodies grace and truth, being full of grace that is poured into His lips. Believers are invited to recognize and reflect on His beauty, leading them to worship and adore Him with their lives.

Psalm 45:2, John 1:14

How do we know salvation is a heart work?

Salvation is a heart work, as true worship comes from a heart filled with love for Christ.

Salvation is fundamentally a work of the heart, as noted in the sermon where it emphasizes that true worship begins with love for Christ. It’s not merely adherence to doctrines but a genuine relationship where one's heart overflows with love for Him. This concept is reinforced by the idea that 'out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks' (Matthew 12:34), indicating that true transformation originates in one's affections and devotion to Christ. Therefore, understanding salvation as a heart work necessitates recognizing that it involves a personal, heartfelt connection with the Redeemer.

Matthew 12:34, Romans 10:9-10

Why is worship important for Christians?

Worship is essential for Christians as it reflects their love and adoration for God.

Worship holds profound importance in the life of a Christian because it is the expression of love towards God. The sermon highlights that true worship stems from a heart overflowing with affection for Christ, emphasizing that we worship what we treasure. If Christ is our ultimate treasure, our acts of worship will reflect that value through our words and actions. Additionally, worship is a means of acknowledging God's sovereignty and grace, which fosters spiritual growth and draws believers closer to Him. Through worship, Christians fulfill their purpose in glorifying God and aligning their lives with His will.

Psalm 95:6, Luke 4:8

What does Psalm 45 teach about being the bride of Christ?

Psalm 45 illustrates the church as the bride of Christ, exalted and honored beside the King.

Psalm 45 provides a vivid portrayal of the church's position as the bride of Christ, emphasizing the honor and glory bestowed upon her. It depicts the bride standing at the King's right hand, representing a place of honor and intimacy. This relationship signifies that believers are cherished and loved by Christ, who has united Himself with His church. The psalm encourages believers to embrace their identity as royal heirs, encouraging them to forget their past allegiances and wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to their King. This union reflects the profound love Christ has for His church and the resulting beauty of being His bride.

Psalm 45:9-10, Ephesians 5:25-27

on pictures of Christ in the
Old Testament. And I still want to filter those
in as we go along. And this was the next one. And it's a good one. All of them
are. This is a good one. If you'll
look at the heading in Psalm 45, it says, A SONG OF LOVES. Now I titled this, A LOVE SONG
TO THE KING. This is a love song to the king. Written, I believe, by David,
even though his name's not written there. It's written by, I believe,
written by David. And the theme of this psalm has
to do with the majesty and the beauty of Christ, our king, and
his bride. And our purpose this morning
is to exalt our King and to praise our King and to sing this psalm
in our hearts. I know we're not going to put
music to it, but in our hearts, let's sing this psalm of love
to our King today. Let's do this today. Let's exalt the Lord Jesus Christ
and pray that God stir our hearts up to love, to worship, to adore,
and to follow Him. Every time He called one of His
disciples, what's the first thing He said to them? Come, follow
Me. That's the first thing. Come,
follow Him. And we follow Him willingly,
and we follow Him adoringly, we adore Him, we adore Him. You know, if a husband and wife,
if they will always adore one another, they'll do well. If they always adore one another,
they'll do well. Now we see here in verse 1, the
overflowing heart this song is a song of love to the king david's
heart is just bubbling over he said here my heart is indicting
a good matter and over in the margin of my bible it says boileth
or bubbleth up it bubbleth up with this good matter his heart
is full i asked the lord to make my heart bubble up this morning
This is so, but we ought to come here every Sunday and every Thursday
and ask the Lord to make our hearts bubble up in love for
Him and thoughts of Him. Lord, give us thoughts of You.
I tell you, that overcomes a lot of trouble, doesn't it? We have
real thoughts of Christ. But this is what it's about.
He said, I speak of the things which I have made touching the
King. My heart's inditing a good matter,
and I speak of things which I have touching the King. My tongue
is the pen of a ready writer. And Christ is the good matter
here. Christ Himself is the subject of our praise and our worship
this morning, and He is what makes it a good matter. He's
what makes this worship service a good matter this morning. He
s the one. And a heart filled with Christ
results in a tongue ready to speak of His grace and of His
character. When your heart is filled with
the Spirit of God, with Christ, you re ready to speak of Him.
Your tongue I hope and pray this morning that my tongue, since
I'm standing here speaking, I pray that my tongue is the pen of
a ready writer to tell you of the grace, the mercy, and to
remind you again of the grace and the mercy that He has to
us and what He did for us at Calvary. I can't put that into
words. I can't even, there's no vocabulary
for me this morning to describe what He saved us from and what
He has saved us to. Now are you the sons of God?
Do you realize what royalty is sitting in this room this morning?
God is true royalty. God is. Christ the King is true
royalty. And we are sons and daughters
of the King? And we are married to the King? We're the bride
of the King? What royalty? What royalty! And He says here,
My heart. This is coming from His heart. You know, salvation is a heart
work. It's not believing some doctrines. It's not just believing and holding
to the doctrines that this church holds to. It's a real heart love
for the Lord Jesus Christ. That's where it begins. true
worship now listen true worship begins with love because you
worship you worship that which you love well your treasure is
your heart is if money's your treasure you'll be out there
getting it you'll be out there working for it be out there trying
to get it if christ is if christ is your treasure you do that
to pay the bills and you do that to support the gospel But Christ
is your life. Christ is your life. He's not
a decision you made. He's your life. He's the love
of your life. Vicki's the second love of my
life. Where'd she go? Oh, she's back there with the
baby. Oh, she got me on TV. You hear
this? You're the second love of my life. Christ is the love
of my life. Christ is the love of my life.
And you know what? I'm the second love of her life and Christ is
the love of her life and neither one of us are jealous. We're
not jealous of that. You know, I have told her, I
said, if you always seek the advice of your real husband,
the Lord Jesus Christ, it'll be a lot easier on me. It will,
if you really seek Him because it really makes a difference
when you talk to Him first before you talk to me. It does. SALVATION IS THE HEARTWORK, OUT
OF THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART, THE WHAT? THE MOUTH SPEAKETH. So out of the abundance of His
heart, His mouth is speaking, He's writing, He's writing this. And then here in verse 2, David
thinks upon the matchless beauty and gracious lips and the words
that fall from those lips of his king. No king like our king.
There's no king like our king and we have a king Our king is
the king Our king is king of kings and lord of lords right
now He's king over Washington DC He's king over China He's
king over the whole Europe. He's king over America. He's
king of the he's Listen, he's a king of glory. You know what
that means? His kingdom has no boundaries
This earth has seen a lot of kings, and every one of them
has a boundary. There's been the King of England,
and then there's been the King of Denmark, and you can name
all these places over in the Middle East. Kings of everything,
but they have a little boundary. They don't go outside that boundary. He's the King of Glory. I can't even begin to describe
what that is. But he has no boundaries. He rules and he reigns from sea
to shining sea. He rules and he reigns in heaven
over all the angels. He rules and reigns over Satan
and all the demons. He's their king too. He tells
them what they can do and what they cannot do. He says, come
out and guess what? They come out. And you know what
they ask? Can we go over into those pigs?
And he says, yes, go ahead. If he had said no, they wouldn't
have. They had to ask HIM where they could go. He's their King,
He's King of Kings and Lord of Lords. That's who He is. And
David says here in verse 2, Thou art fairer than the children
of men. Now David is speaking to the
King. He's speaking to the Lord Himself. Thou art fairer than
the children of men, not only because He's God, but in His
humanity He's fairer than the children of men. No man like
this man, as I said last week, what manner of man is this? No
man like this man. Grace is poured into thy lips
or from thy lips, therefore God hath blessed thee forever. Thou art fairer than the children
of men, You know when the Shulamite woman was asked over in Song
of Solomon chapter 5, What is thy beloved more than other beloveds? What's so different about him?
And then she goes into a description of him. And at the end of that
description, you can read that, that's in Song of Solomon chapter
5, 9 through 16. At the end of it she said, He's
all together lovely. There's not a thing about him
I'd change. And I have no doubt there's a few things Vicki would
change about me. And there's a few things your
wives would change about you. But there's nothing we'd change
about Christ. Nothing we would change about the Lord Jesus Christ.
He's altogether lovely. And she describes Him from the
top of His head to the bottom of His feet. She describes Him. And He's altogether lovely. HE'S ALL TOGETHER LOVELY BECAUSE
HE'S DIVINE AND HE'S INCOMPARABLE. WHO WILL YOU LIKEN ME TO, GOD
SAID. HE'S THE ONLY BEGOTTEN OF THE
FATHER, FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH, IT SAYS. AND IT SAYS GRACE IS
POURED INTO OR FROM HIS LIPS. HE'S FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH.
HE'S FULL OF IT. THAT'S WHAT HE'S FULL OF. Never a man spake like this man,
they said. Never a man. And his word to us is so gracious. Come unto me, all you that labor
and heavy laden, I'll give you rest. That's a promise. Take
him at his word. His words to us are so kind and
so gracious. You know, he could say to every
one of us in here, depart from me, I never knew you. But he
says, come to me and all your filth and all your rags come
to me. That's gracious, isn't it? He
invites beggars. He tells beggars to come to him. Come to me. Oh, my, my. The gracious words
of our Lord. You know, Job said that his word
was more to him than his necessary food. Would do God that we would
feel that way too, that we have to have this here more than we
have to have our food. It's better for me to be to go
physically hungry than to go spiritually hungry. Lord fill
us, fill us this morning. And he's blessed forever. Look
at this. And therefore God has blessed
thee forever. God has blessed him forever because
he's blessed forever. And because of that, all blessings
flow from Him. They flow from Him. Now gird
thy sword, gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O Mighty, O Most Mighty,
with thy glory and thy majesty. Gird on thy sword. What is His
sword? What is His sword? It's His Word. It's His Word. His Word is His
Sword. And she says, Gird thy sword
upon thy thigh. He rides in the cause of truth
and grace. And in thy majesty ride prosperously
because or in the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness.
You know, other kings, they go out and they ride to plunder.
That's how they became rich. That's how they advanced their
kingdom. They advanced their kingdom by
plundering other kingdoms and overcoming them and taking their
riches and enslaving the people. But ours rides in truth and grace. His calls is for truth and grace. It's for righteousness. It's
for meekness. That's what it's for. Our King
is a righteous King. He fights no unrighteous battle.
You know, there's been a lot of political wars that should
not have been, but our Lord never fights a war that shouldn't have
been. Every war He fights, it is a righteous war. And as I
said here, He says, Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, which is His Word. It's alive,
powerful, and effectual. I want you to look, I want you
to, I want to read Isaiah to you, Isaiah 55, 11. God says,
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth, it shall
not return unto me void, it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the things whereto I sinneth. God's Word
this morning will accomplish in every heart here exactly what
He sent it for. IF YOUR HEART NEEDS YOU ENCOURAGED,
HE SENT IT TO ENCOURAGE YOUR HEART. IF HE NEEDS TO BREAK IT,
HE'LL BREAK IT. IF HE NEEDS TO SOFTEN IT, HE
WILL. IF HE NEEDS TO HARDEN IT, HE WILL. THE WORD OF GOD WILL
HAVE IT'S EFFECT THIS MORNING ON EVERY PERSON HERE, EVERY PERSON. AND I WANT YOU TO TURN OVER TO
REVELATION I said His word, His sword is His word. He doesn't
use a carnal sword like we do. That's why He told Peter, put
that sword up when He's going to cut off that
man's ear. He told him to put his sword
up. But look here in Revelation 1.16. AND HE HAD IN HIS RIGHT HAND
SEVEN STARS, AND OUT OF HIS MOUTH WENT A SHARP TWO-EDGED SWORD. Out of his mouth went a sharp
two-edged sword. Turn over to Revelations 2, look
in verse 16. He tells the church he had just
written to, he says, OR ELSE I WILL COME UNTO THEE QUICKLY,
AND WILL FIGHT AGAINST THEM WITH THE SWORD OF MY MOUTH." His weapon is His Word. If He speaks to your heart this
morning, it will accomplish what He sent it to your heart for. It will accomplish that. If He
says, IF HE SAYS LIVE TO ANY DEAD SINNER
HERE, IF HE SAYS LIVE, YOU'LL LIVE! I PROMISE YOU, YOU'LL LIVE! Because when He speaks, it happens. When God speaks, it happens.
And His arrows pierce the heart, He says here, in the king's enemies.
In verse 5, Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's
enemies. whereby the people fall under
thee. You know, everybody, everyone in this room that believes the
gospel, every one of us were enemies at one time. Every one
of us were enemies of God. We had a natural enmity in our
minds against God. We were naturally hostile against
God. And God shot the arrow of truth, the gospel, in our hearts
and conquered us. AND CONQUERED AS HE DID. HIS
ARROWS PIERCED THE HEART AND BRINGED SINNERS TO SURRENDER
IN LOVE. BUT NOW HIS ARROWS ALSO STRIKE THE HEART OF HIS ENEMIES
AND THEY PERISH. DEPART FROM ME, I NEVER KNEW
YOU." I don't want to hear that. I do not want to hear that. I
know better than the one he says that to. You know that? You realize
that? WE ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ONES
HE SAYS THAT TO. THERE IS NOTHING THAT I FEEL
IMPRESSED MORE AND MORE AS I GROW OLDER. I FEEL SO IMPRESSED WITH
THIS. WHEN I STAND IN GLORY, I HAVE
NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. ZERO. ZERO, ZERO, ZERO. HE LOVED ME, HE CHOSE ME, HE
DIED FOR ME, HE MADE ME RIGHTEOUS AND HOLY IN HIS SIGHT, AND HE'S
GOING TO BRING ME TO GLORY, AND I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
NOTHING. And then He speaks here in verse
6 and 7 of His eternal throne. Thy throne, O God, and we know
this is concerning the Lord Jesus Christ because it's written over
in Hebrews chapter 1 verse 8. that and he's writing this years
many many hundreds of years before christ came and then paul applies
it to christ there in hebrews thy throne oh god is forever
and ever the scepter of thy kingdom is a right scepter thou lovest
righteousness and hatest wickedness therefore god thy god hath anointed
thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows I UNDERLINE
THIS, Thy THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER. ETERNAL. Where's the throne of
all these kings in the past? Where are they at? So many of them are gone, and
the ones that are left are just like puppets. I mean, what's
the throne of England now over there? It's show. There's no
power in that throne over there. It's SHOWTIME! But not His. He said His throne
is forever and ever. He will never be dethroned. Never
be dethroned. Christ, listen here, He says,
Thy throne, O God, He's called God here. Christ is called God. His throne is eternal. His reign
is one of perfect righteousness and justice. NO KING LIKE OUR
KING! NO RIGHTEOUS KING LIKE OUR RIGHTEOUS
KING! NO JUST KING LIKE OUR JUST KING! HE'S A JUST GOD AND A SAVIOR!
THAT'S EXACTLY WHO OUR KING IS! A JUST GOD AND A SAVIOR! AND
HE'S ANOINTED ABOVE ALL BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS AND WHAT HE'S DONE,
WHAT HE LOVES! HE LOVES RIGHTEOUSNESS! WHAT
DID YOU AND I LOVE AND WE STRUGGLE WITH YET? SIN! and self. Those two go together
and we still struggle with it, but our Lord never struggled
with self-love. He loves righteousness. He loves justice. He loves right. Aren't you glad our King is like
that? I'm glad, I'm so, I am thankful that we have such a
just King, such a righteous King. I'm so thankful for that. My
soul, that won't really set in to us until we die. And we stand
in glory. And we know that He'll never
turn on us. He'll never turn on us. He'll
never change. I am the Lord, I change not.
Therefore, you sons of Jacob, you sons of election, are not
consumed. That's why we're not consumed.
It's not because we straightened up. Not because we straightened
up, but we had enough thoughts this morning to put us in hell.
If we can see sin as God sees sin, we've never seen it as God
sees it. That's why people can't really
understand eternal torment because they cannot understand the depth
of sin and the holiness of God and what real justice is and
what real righteousness is and what sin really is. We have never seen the full sight
of it. Jesus Christ is the only one HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO KNEW
THE FULL DEPTH OF SIN. AND WHEN HE WAS MADE SIN HE SWEAT
GREAT DROPS OF BLOOD. THERE AIN'T A PERSON IN THIS
ROOM WHO'S EVER SWEAT ONE DROP OF BLOOD OVER ANY SIN. NOW THE
LORD HAS CONVICTED ME OF SIN AND I HAVE CONVICTION OF SIN
AND I MOURN OVER IT. I DO, I MOURN OVER IT. BUT I
DON'T BLEED OVER IT. HE DID. HE KNEW THE FULL DEPTH
OF MY WICKEDNESS. I DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT. I don't
even come close to knowing that. Oh, His throne is forever and
ever. Let me get back here. Thy throne, O God, is forever
and ever. His scepter of thy kingdom is
a right scepter. And you love righteousness and
you hate wickedness. You know the Scripture says that
thou hatest the workers of iniquity. He didn't just hate wickedness,
He said He hates the workers of it. Is God allowed to hate? You know,
if you listen to the religious world out there, God is not allowed
to hate anybody. He hated Esau, didn't He? God said that. Jacob have I loved, Esau have
I hated. And Esau hated God. But Esau
had no right to hate God, and God had every right to hate Esau. God has every much right to love
and to hate as He does to love. The miracle of miracles is that
He loved me. I could be Esau. Because one time I hated God
just like Esau did. God thy God hath anointed thee
with the oil of gladness above thy fellow. Now listen here.
Now we get to the fragrance, the fragrance and the joy of
the Lord Jesus Christ our King. All thy garments, all thy garments
smell of myrrh, aloes, and cassia. He has such a sweet smell to
Him. You know, He doesn't have to
perfume up like we do to hide the odor. He Himself is the smell,
the sweet smell, His character is His sweet smell, the smell
of righteousness, the smell of grace, the smell of love. His garments speak of honor and
righteousness and His priestly beauty and they all smell good.
They all smell good. And I leave here and I go home
and I change clothes. is going in the laundry basket.
It's not going in the closet, it's going in the laundry basket.
I'm sweating, Peter. I don't want to put back on another
old sweaty shirt. He never has to change garments.
Never. Oh, that garment's smell of myrrh. His presence is a sweet aroma. to the lost, his smell is offensive. You know that? You know, I thought this morning,
the lost are like buzzards, they like the smell of death. Have
you ever watched the buzzard stick its head in a dead carcass
and you think, How in the world can it do that? That smells like,
my man, that smells like Vicky's cooking over there to me. You
know, or I smell something from her. She's cooking yesterday,
cooking chicken and corn and green beans and that was smelling
good. And now to a buzzer, the dead
carcass, dead rotting carcass smells good, but not to me. I tell you what does smell good
to me, Christ. THE GOSPEL, THE GOSPEL OF HIS
GRACE. THAT SMELLS GOOD! THAT SMELLS
GOOD, BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE LEFT HERE OVER THE GOSPEL? YOU
KNOW WHY? IT STUNK. IT DIDN'T SMELL GOOD
TO THEM. THEY DON'T LIKE THE FACT THAT
GOD CHOSE A PEOPLE. THAT'S NOT RIGHT. THAT'S NOT
FAIR. THAT'S NOT FAIR. WELL, LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING,
BEFORE GOD, WE HAVE NO RIGHTS. WE ABSOLUTELY HAVE NO... WE ARE CRIMINALS! And before
God Almighty, WE HAVE NO RIGHTS! We have forfeited all of our
rights, and Adam, we forfeited all of our rights by our own
conduct. And God said the wages of sin is DEATH! The wages of sin is not a fair
hearing, is what we think of in this country. No, we have no rights. You know,
when I stand in glory, when I stand by God's grace and glory, you
know by whose rights I'm going to stand there? I'm going to
stand there by the rights of Jesus Christ. That's how I'm
going to stand there, by the rights of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I'm not going to stand there by my own rights. We preached
in your name, we cast out devils in your name. I preach in Christ's
name every week. I don't care if I preach 10,000
sermons, not one of them is going to save me. Christ saves me. He's my Savior. Straightening
up, not drinking, not doing this, not doing that, that ain't going
to save me. That ain't going to save anybody. Christ saves
me. His blood and His righteousness,
that's what saves me. All thy garments smell of myrrh.
He's the sweet aroma to all God's children. What does Christ smell
like to you? Boy, when you hear the gospel
preached and God chose you in Christ, loves you in Christ,
does that smell good? That smells good to me. And I thought of this. Do I smell
like Him? Gracious, kind, merciful. Do I smell like Him? You know,
if you hug a person that's got perfume on, because I've hugged
some of you women, I go away smelling like you women. Yeah,
I got your perfume on me. I can smell it when I get home. If you've hugged up to Christ,
you can't help but smell like Him. You can't help it. And our Lord, listen here in
verse 8. All thy garments smell of myrrh,
aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces whereby they have
made thee glad. He rejoices in heaven, surrounded
by the joy of the redeemed souls. We were talking about that, Vicki
and I were talking about that this morning, eating our muffins. We were talking about when all
this ends and God makes a new heaven and a new earth and there
will be no sorrow, no death, no crying. There will be nothing
that offends in that new world. It's hard to grasp, but it's
so. God said it's so, so it's so. And we were talking about
that this morning. And now in verse 9 through 12,
and I'll wind this down. Upon thy right hand did stand
the queen. Here's the bride's honor and
worship. Here's her honor. It's the one
she's standing beside of. Our honor is Christ. He's all
the honor I have. Adam had his Eve. Christ has
his church. He has his bride. and the church
is exalted to a place of honor standing there beside the Lord
Jesus Christ. There is no higher honor than
to be by Him and to be with Him. And notice here in verse 10,
Hark an old daughter, well let me read verse 9, Kings daughters
were among thy honorable women, but on thy right hand did stand
the queen in gold of Ophir. Hark an old daughter, and consider,
and incline thine ear, Now listen, forget also thine own people
and thy father's house. You're mine. You're mine. You leave mother, father. He
that loves mother, father, sister, brother more than me is not worthy
of me. You can love them as much as you love Christ, but not more.
Because if you love more, you'll worship them. You'll compromise
the gospel, you'll give up the gospel. You'll give up the gospel
over that which you love. But if Christ is your, if He
truly is your first love, everybody else has got to get in line.
Everybody's got to get in line. Because that's what, listen here,
FORGET! You say, well that's pretty dogmatic, that's pretty
possessive. You know, we don't like that,
possessive. We like our independence here.
No, He said, He's saying to her, forget also thine own people
in thy father's house. Forget them. Forget your past. She forgets her past and worships
her Lord exclusively. There's no rival for her love
to Him. There's no rival to that now. And her beauty is derived from
Him. Hark an old daughter, consider
and incline thine ear, forget also thine own people, thy father's
house. So shall the king greatly desire
thy beauty. Where'd she get that beauty?
Where did she get her cleanliness and her beauty? From Him. He's our beauty. His righteousness
is our beauty. She derived her beauty from Christ
and not her own, not herself. And then we come to verse 13
and 15. We have the glorious character and procession of the
bride. The king's daughter is all glorious
within. She has a new identity. Forget
your people, you're mine. You're the king's daughter, you're
born of God. BE BORN OF GOD, YOUR ROYALTY,
AND YOUR BRIGHTEST TO THE SON OF GOD. And her INWARD GLORY is THIS,
CHRIST IN YOU, the HOPE OF GLORY. You know your INWARD GLORY is
CHRIST IN YOU. That s the INWARD GLORY of every
one of God s children. CHRIST IN YOU is your INWARD
GLORY. It s your And that's your hope
of glory is Christ in you. And her clothing is wrought from
the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. And the daughter of Tyre shall
be there with a gift, even the rich among the people shall entreat
that favor. The king's daughter is all-glorious. She's all-glorious within. I forgot, I wrote down I was trying to think of Song
of Solomon where the bride is described, the Shulamite is described.
He saw no fault in her. There was no fault in her. I'm
afraid to go over there and start looking for it, it may take me
forever, but it's over there around chapter, I think it's
in chapter 4 or 5, somewhere in there. But anyway, her clothing
is wrought from the righteousness of Christ and her homecoming
is is joyful. You know, I know that we have
some intrepidation of death, dying, coming up, you know, if
you're not dying, especially, you know, if you don't, if you're
not dying, you don't need dying grace. So, you know, you kind of sometimes
you think of it and it's kind of I mean it's a serious thing
the serious thing will ever happen to you in your life is the day
you die and you meet God you really meet God and as Solomon
said as a tree falls so shall it lie And you know that, as
a believer, you know that. And we trust Christ to save us,
we do that. I trust the Lord to save me and
deliver me before God's presence, holy, righteous, unblameable,
unreprovable in His sight. But I think, what's it gonna
be like to die? What will it be like when my
soul, me, I am a soul, and I'm starting to be pulled out of
this body? I'm being lifted out of this body, this clay. I've
been here for 69 years. And I'm going to be separated
from it forever. And this body is going back to the grave. I'm
going to have a new body, but you know, that's got to be the
most unbelievable experience to die, to die. But we have assurance here that
when to be absent from the body, be present with the Lord, it'll
be a joyful, joyful homecoming. It'll be a joyful homecoming
and it won't be, no sins will be mentioned. None of my downfallings
will be mentioned. That's all over with. That's
all over with. But it'll be a joyful, and listen,
in this homecoming for the Queen, the Church, will be public. Oh, it'll be public, it'll be
seen. And there'll be a triumphant entry into glory. And then we
come to the CLOSE. Verse 16 and 17. Well, let me go to verse 15.
With GLADNESS AND REJOICING SHALL THEY BE BROUGHT. That's what
I was just talking to you about. THEY SHALL ENTER INTO THE KING'S
PALACE. Enter in there with JOY. Joy. Not like the sons of Joseph.
Remember how they entered the king's palace when they went
in to Joseph? They were scared to death, weren't they? You're
not going to be scared to death. You're going to be joyful. Instead
in the stead or in the place of thy fathers because you know
we all have to die don't we We all have to die and we and our
prayer is this that the lord will continue this ministry here
The gospel will stay here that He will raise up young people,
like I had Matthew standing here this morning. He will raise them
up and this will continue on. And here is this, we have a promise
here. Now I know that the Gospel has
its time and a place, I know that, and it will leave, it will
eventually. But He is saying this, In the
place of thy father shall thou be thy children. And He is speaking
here of spiritual children because not every believer's children
are saved. Esau was not saved. Esau was
not saved. Isaac loved Esau. He had more of an affection for
Esau than did Jacob. Jacob was mama's boy. But he
saw, he was a man of the woods. He was hunting, and Isaiah said,
go out there and fix me some of that meat that I love so well,
that you so well prepared. He was a, I'm gonna say, he was
a, what we call a man's man, but he was lost. He was lost. God never did save that man.
And that's a reality we live with. It's the Lord. What's Eli say? It's the Lord. Let him do as he please. That's
how we'd handle that. I can't see what God sees. I can't see from where he's at.
I can't see that. But he has a family, spiritual
family. Instead of thy father shall be
thy children whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. CHRIST'S NAME IS GOING TO ENDURE
FOREVER, in verse 17, I WILL MAKE THY NAME TO BE REMEMBERED
IN ALL GENERATIONS, AND THEREFORE SHALL THE PEOPLE PRAISE THEE
FOREVER AND EVER, just what we're doing right now, like we're doing
right now. CHRIST'S NAME ENDURES, HE WILL
BE PRAISED IN EVERY GENERATION UNTIL TIME SHALL BE NO MORE,
THEN HE'LL BE PRAISED FOR ETERNITY. AND HIS SPIRITUAL CHILDREN WHO
ARE KINGS AND PRIESTS, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE THIS MORNING,
He has made us kings and priests under God, every one of us who
believes. And His reign is eternal. And
it will bring ceaseless praise and glory. Now this song, this
wedding song is what it is. This is a wedding song. It's
a wedding song. That might be a better title.
A wedding song. I seem to get my titles when
I'm preaching anymore. Anyway, this Psalm, it's a wedding
song, it's a Spirit-inspired celebration of the Lord Jesus
Christ, our Divine King, our Bridegroom. In Heaven, the Bridegroom
is everything. Here when we have a wedding,
the Bride is everything, but they're not. It's the Bridegroom. He's unmatched in His beauty,
His grace, and His righteousness. And His Church is exalted to
glory in Him. What a Psalm! What a song. What a wedding song. All right.
