What does the Bible say about the kingdom of God?

The Bible teaches that the kingdom of God is a spiritual realm established by Christ, not of this world.

The kingdom of God is described in scripture as a spiritual kingdom established by Christ. In John 18:36, Jesus states, 'My kingdom is not of this world.' This indicates that His reign and authority transcend earthly boundaries and expectations. It's a present reality for believers who have been given spiritual eyes to see and appreciate its glory. The establishment of this kingdom is not a future hope but a current truth, as highlighted in 2 Corinthians 4:6, where Paul notes that God has shined in our hearts to give us the knowledge of His glory through Jesus Christ.

John 18:36, 2 Corinthians 4:6

How do we know redemption through Christ is true?

Redemption through Christ is rooted in God's eternal purpose, confirmed by His actions throughout history.

The truth of redemption through Christ lies in its grounding within God's eternal plan, as emphasized in Revelation 13:8, where the Lamb is described as 'slain from the foundation of the world.' This indicates that redemption was always in God's design and not a reaction to sin. Furthermore, the efficacy of Christ's sacrifice is affirmed in Hebrews 10:12, stating, 'This man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God.' This means that Christ's work was sufficient and complete, ensuring our reconciliation with God.

Revelation 13:8, Hebrews 10:12

Why is the blood of Christ important for Christians?

The blood of Christ is essential for redemption, providing the only means of acceptance with God.

The significance of Christ's blood is paramount in the process of redemption. As stated in Hebrews 9:22, 'without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.' This underscores that the blood of Christ is the only sacrifice capable of fully atoning for sin. Unlike the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament, which could not take away sins (Hebrews 10:4), Christ’s sacrifice was once for all (Hebrews 10:12). It not only covers sin but completely removes the condemnation for those who trust in Him, allowing believers to stand accepted before God.

Hebrews 9:22, Hebrews 10:4, Hebrews 10:12

Welcome, friends, to another
broadcast of Morsels for Zion's Poor. It is understandable that
those who sit in darkness, regardless of their earthly lineage, should
revere a land which can be seen and felt with the eyes and hands
of the flesh. But it is not quite so clear as to why those who
have been given eyes to see and ears to hear the spiritual nature
of the kingdom of God, in the glorious revelation of the gospel,
should do so. We can see why the natural Jews
would feel that they have a claim to this real estate, which men
mistakenly call the holy land, and we have some understanding
of why the Ishmaelites would consider it a holy place as well.
It is the natural bent of man to be religious, as can be seen
in all cultures of the earth. However, apart from the revelation
of truth, the religion of all men shall remain mired in a reverence
for earthly things rather than in a love for the truth and an
understanding of the spiritual nature of the kingdom of God.
It was this lack of understanding which the Lord upbraided the
Pharisees for when He said, This eternal kingdom has been established
in the earth, yet it is not of the earth. The Lord Jesus described it thusly.
My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world,
then would my servants fight that I should not be delivered
to the Jews. But now is my kingdom not from hence. Notice that he
said, now is my kingdom not from here. We're not waiting for a
future time when his kingdom shall yet be established, but
realize that he has already established it and has caused its glory to
be manifest unto those who have been given the privilege to see
it. Paul described it with these words, for God who commanded
the light to shine out of darkness has shined in our hearts to give
the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face
of Jesus Christ. The psalmist said, lead me in
the way everlasting. The word way means a road or
pathway. In the city of Jerusalem is a
series of streets called by some the Via Dolorosa, or the way
of the cross, which is purported to be the route that the Lord
trod as he carried the cross to Golgotha. Whether this road
is literally the one his feet touched as he bore that awful
load in our behalf is of little consequence. But what is of the
utmost importance to the sons of God is that the way of the
cross is the only means whereby they might find peace with God.
The Lord Jesus said it like this, I am the way, the truth, and
the life. No man cometh unto the Father
but by me. While the sons of the earth seek
out many things to satisfy their religious cravings, the true
sons of God can find no lasting place of peace and satisfaction
in anything but the blood and righteousness of their blessed
Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Vain are all of those pleasures
which may satisfy the man who walks in darkness. But the converted
sons of God know that apart from the imputed righteousness of
Jesus Christ, they shall perish. This is the ancient pathway because
this is a pathway marked out in eternity. Redemption is not
an afterthought on the part of God. He did not react to some
unforeseen or unwanted occurrence and devised the means whereby
He would redeem His own. Before there was ever a sinner,
there was a Savior. He is the Lamb slain from the
foundation of the earth. The world was created as a means
of displaying the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, that throughout
eternity He might be glorified in the manifestation of His mercy
and grace to the sons of men. But God, who is rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were
dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace
you are saved, and hath raised us up together and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages
to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness
toward us through Christ Jesus. This is the only pathway by which
any man has ever found acceptance with God. The Jews of old were
instructed to offer blood sacrifices of animals, but this was not
in order to expiate their sin, but to point to the one who would
come and literally cancel sin's ability to condemn the sons of
God. For it is not possible that the
blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. But this man,
after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on
the right hand of God. This is the only path which shall
never be destroyed. That work which the Lord Jesus
undertook for his people shall never pass away, and its eternal
efficacy shall be that for which the saints shall praise him forever.
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever,
sat down on the right hand of God. Evermore lead us in the
way everlasting, O Lord. And they sung a new song, saying,
Thou art worthy to take the book and to open the seals thereof,
for Thou hast slain and has redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of
every kindred and tongue and people and nation. For a free
