The Bible affirms God's sovereignty and ability to deliver His people from sin and justice through Jesus Christ.
The scripture teaches that our God is able to deliver us completely. In Daniel 6, we see a profound illustration of this in the life of Daniel, who was saved from the lion’s den. The text from Hebrews 11:33 highlights that 'who through faith subdued kingdoms, brought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.' This demonstrates not merely the faith of Daniel but the power of God through whom Daniel was delivered. It is ultimately not our faith that saves us, but the Lord Jesus Christ, the object of our faith, who has the power to save and deliver us from the consequences of sin and justice.
Daniel 6; Hebrews 11:33
Christ’s work on the cross fulfills God's justice and offers salvation to all who believe.
The certainty of Christ’s ability to save stems from His sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection. God provided the ransom through His Son, Jesus Christ, and this is how God can be both just and the justifier. Jesus willingly took on the sin of His people, fulfilling the demands of justice by suffering in their stead. Thus, in Christ, God's law requires that those who believe in Him live. The resurrection of Christ further ensures that sin has been paid for, and by raising Christ from the dead, God demonstrates that He accepts the sacrifice, providing hope and assurance for all believers that they too will have eternal life.
Romans 3:26, 1 Corinthians 15:17
Faith in Christ is essential because it is through Him that we are saved from sin and death.
Faith is crucial for salvation because it connects us to Christ, the only means through which we can be justified before God. Ephesians 2:8-9 states that 'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.' This emphasizes that our salvation is entirely a work of God's grace and not based on our own efforts. Without faith in the divine Savior, we remain under the just condemnation of our sin. Trusting in Christ means relying on His finished work, acknowledging that He is the sole mediator between God and man, who alone can intercede for us.
