Let's open our Bibles again to
Psalm 138. Early Monday morning, I read
this Psalm. What David says here at the beginning
of verse 7, absolutely gripped my heart. Though I walk in the
midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me. I looked and looked and looked
at that. And I prayed, Oh Lord, would you do that for us at this
time? Would you? That was my prayer. And I read this psalm again,
and I believe the Lord's given me a message. The title of it
is revived in the midst of trouble. And nobody knows for sure when
this psalm was written. It seems like that it was written
After the time that David became king of Judah and before he became
the king of Israel. God had already delivered David
from many very difficult situations and David's thankful. But he
may already be in the next trial. He certainly knows that there
are more difficult days coming in the days ahead. And he prays
with some confidence that the Lord will deliver him from those
things, just like he has in the past. You know, if you'd like
some assurance, one of the best ways to gain some assurance in
God's love, God's power, His willingness to deliver, His care
to deliver us from our current troubles is go back and look
how God has been pleased to deliver and protect and preserve and
help in times past. God never changes, does He? So
whatever He's done in the past, pretty good indication of what
He might be pleased to do for us right now. And David says,
though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me. Now that's the life of a believer.
The life of a believer is a life filled with troubles. We look
at our own lives, we can see that so, can't we? We look at
the lives of those of our church family right here, and we see
that's true. We look at the lives of believers
that have been recorded in scripture, and we see that's true. Job said
what's true when he said man is born of a woman is a few days
full of trouble. Full of trouble. Those troubles
are real. They're real. They're difficult
and they're painful to our flesh. And we'd be lying if we said
otherwise. Yet, in those times of trouble and trial, the believer
has confidence. Even in that time we're being
foot through the window. The believer has confidence.
Our confidence is our Lord, who He is, His character. We have
so many examples in Scripture of how the Lord has miraculously
delivered His people. We read about the sick being
healed, just miraculously. Peter and Paul, we read about
them being in prison, both of them miraculously delivered from
prison. And the same thing holds true
for us If we're going to be healed of any of the many sicknesses
that we're going through right now, I'm telling you, it's the
Lord's going to do it. Now, He will do it. If we're
going to be healed, He's the one that did it. Now, absolutely,
He's going to use me. Don't be one of these people
that say, well, I'm just going to sit around and not get treatment.
Don't do that. That's dumb. The Lord's going
to use me. But if you're healed, He's the
one that did it, isn't He? His very name is Jehovah Rapha, the
Lord that healed us. So if we're going to be healed,
that's the Lord's going to do it. And if we're going to be delivered
from these present troubles and distresses and sorrows of this
life, it's the Lord that's going to deliver it. He's going to
provide a way out with his power and by his providence. And over
time, our God has proven to us his character, his faithfulness,
his power, his ability to heal and to deliver. He's proven time
and time and time and time again, his loving care, his tender care
for his people. So it's only right that in this
time of earthly difficulty and troubles and sorrows and sicknesses,
it's only right that we call on him in prayer. Who else are
you going to call on? He's the only one that can help,
right? But now our faith, our faith
in Christ and our hope and our God goes on. a whole lot further
than the troubles of this flesh. Our peace, our joy goes a whole
lot further than this flesh. If it doesn't, we're in trouble,
aren't we? David is talking about something much greater than the
reviving of his flesh. Look what he says at the beginning
of verse eight. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth
me. The Lord's going to perfect that which concerneth me. Well,
what is it that concerns me? What truly concerns me? What is it that's going to be
concerning me for eternity? Well, the well-being of my flesh,
I have to tell you, concerns me. Doesn't it? Nobody wants
to be in pain and sorrow and suffering. The well-being of
my flesh is of some concern to me. But I'll tell you what truly
concerns me. It's my soul. A whole lot more
than my body. My soul. I'm much more concerned
with the eternal than the temporary. Now, the Lord may heal me of
some sickness I get. And I'd be very thankful. I'd
be praying that he'd heal me. He may be pleased to do that.
But if he does, I'm going to get sick again. And I'll die
someday. But my soul is going to live
forever. One day, maybe all of you, I don't know how many days
I've got. If I live out a normal lifetime, those of you who are
younger are going to put me in the ground, throw some dirt on
my casket and go back home and get something to eat. My body's
not going to be here forever. But in that day, do you remember
this? My soul is going to live forever. So I'm a whole lot more
concerned about the health and the well-being and the life of
my soul. The Lord may or may not be pleased to revive my flesh,
but he's promised his people. He will revive our soul. He'll revive our spirit. Does
that interest you? The Lord may be pleased to deliver
me from some trouble here below, or he may not be pleased to do
that. The Lord was not pleased to deliver the apostle Paul from
his thorn in the flesh, was he? He wasn't pleased to do that.
But either way, whether the Lord delivers me or He doesn't deliver
me, either way, at one point, unless the Lord returns first,
this flesh is going to die in dishonor. But if I know Christ,
my soul is going to live forever, and I'll be with Him in glory,
eternal, in peace and joy with Him. That's why I'm a whole lot
more concerned about the state of my soul than the state of
my flesh. And in this psalm, the Holy Spirit
gives the child of God sweet, precious promises that our God
will indeed revive the souls, revive the spirit of his people.
Even in the midst of their trouble, he will revive their spirit,
he will revive their soul. And the first way is this. Our
God will revive his people by giving them spiritual life. They're
going to be born again. And we need that, don't we? God's
elect are born into this world dead, dead in sins. Well, thank
God, He saves sinners. We're born dead in trespasses
and sins, and God saves sinners. He makes it clear He doesn't
save good people. Those who are proud, He says at the end of
verse 6, He knoweth them afar off. He holds them afar off.
He doesn't save good people. God doesn't save righteous people.
He doesn't save people who think they deserve it. God saves the
lowly. Look here at verse six. Though
the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly, but the
proud he knoweth afar off. One of the subject I spoke to
our children about in Bible school is humility. You know, salvation
and humility go hand in hand. They're joined right together.
In order for God to save a sinner, two things have got to happen.
God's got to humble himself to do something for us. And he's
got to humble us to make us fit objects of his mercy. God's got
to humble himself to even think on us. You and I can't comprehend
how high above us God is. When David says, the Lord be
high, we can't imagine how high above us he is. Yet He humbled Himself. He didn't
send an angel to do it. He humbled Himself to come save
His people from their sin. Our Savior humbled Himself more
than we can describe with our language, more than we can understand
with our pea brains, how He humbled Himself so that He could become
a man in order to save His people. The Creator clothed Himself with
the weakness of this flesh. Yet without sin, but He clothed
Himself in the weakness of this flesh. That's the Creator. Almighty
God became an embryo in Mary's womb. Now that's humility. Thank God for humility. If it
wasn't for His humility, we wouldn't have a representative. We wouldn't
have a righteousness. And after a life of humility
where the Creator made Himself subject to the creature, He was
subject to the authority of his parents. He was subject to the
authority of the Jewish religion. He was subject to Roman authority. The lawgiver was subject to his
own law. After living a whole life, every
moment of it was humility. He humbled himself. The Holy
Son of God humbled himself to be made sin for his people. To
take their sin away by suffering and dying a cursed death. how
he humbled himself. He humbled himself even unto
death. You see, there's no salvation
without humility, without Christ humbling himself. And then in
order for you and me to be saved, the Lord's going to have to humble
us. He's going to have to take the pride out of us. He's going
to take the starch out of us. He's going to have to humble
us because the Lord only saves the humble. He saves the lowly
sinner who says, I can't do anything for myself. Now the only way
we're going to say that and mean it, because we're so full of
pride, the only way we're going to say that and mean it is if
the Lord takes that proud sinner and humbles him. There's no salvation
without humility. The Son of God had to humble
himself to save the humble, needy sinner. And that's exactly what
David says here in verse 7. God revives his people by Christ
our Savior. Look here at verse seven. Though
I walk in the midst of trouble, thou will revive me. Thou shalt
stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and
thy right hand shall save me. Now this right hand he's speaking
of here is the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ is the right hand of God.
He's the power of God. And God saved his people in power. He saved them through the power
of Christ. He saved His people by the power
of the righteousness of Christ to make His people righteous.
God saved His people through the power of the blood of Christ
to atone for all of our sins. He saved His people by the power
of the death of Christ. The power and the death of Christ
to give life to His people. And Christ, the right hand of
God, is going to stretch out and wipe out every enemy. Now,
who are these enemies David's talking about here? This is before
Saul had died. Saul would have been one of his
enemies. Abner would have been one of his enemies. All the Saul's
men. That's not what David's talking
about here. Men aren't our enemies. Not really. We have men and women
who are enemies, but men are not the enemies we really ought
to be concerned with. I'll tell you the enemies. Truthfully
speaking, the Lord will take care of those enemies one way
or another. At one point, Saul of Tarsus
was the enemy of the church. Well, God took care of that enemy,
didn't He? He took care of him in graves, made this great apostle. Others He'll destroy in judgment.
One way or another, He's going to take care of all those enemies.
But I tell you the enemies that David's speaking of here, the
enemies that must be taken care of so that our souls are revived
and given life. First, there's the enemy of my
sin. Sin is my enemy. It's my sin that separated me
from God. But what does scripture say?
Christ died for sin. He died for sin. He died to remove
the curse of sin and the power of sin from his people. He has
destroyed the power of sin over his people. Sin can no longer
touch or harm anyone for whom Christ died. He put it away.
The second enemy Christ destroyed is the law. The law is against
us. The law is accusing us. The law
has demands upon us that we can't keep. So the law demands we die.
Well, Christ died. He died as our substitute. He
died to satisfy the law. so that the law is satisfied
with the believer. If you're in Christ, if you believe
Christ, the law satisfies you. Your representative kept the
law for you, kept it perfect, obeyed it perfectly, and then
he died to satisfy the demand of the broken law. And now the
law cannot condemn you. And what's more, it doesn't want
to. The law does not want to condemn you any more than the
law wants to condemn any other innocent man. Because if you're
in Christ, the law is satisfied. He put that enemy, the law, away,
didn't he? Then there's our enemy, Satan,
the accuser of the brethren. Christ destroyed him at Calvary.
Yes, Satan did bruise our Lord's heel, didn't he? But our Savior
crushed Satan's head. Put him out of business so that
he cannot accuse you anymore. There's nothing for him to accuse
you of. Christ put all your sin away. And then one day, there's
one. One day, every enemy is going
to be destroyed before you. And then God's even going to
destroy that one. The last enemy which shall be destroyed is this
one. These bodies that have been laid
in the grave, one day the trumps going to say, they're all going
to be raised again. to never die again. They're going
to be raised again in perfection because Christ already died and
rose again for us. He is the resurrection. We're
going to be raised because of Him. And when God calls His people
out, when He gives them faith, here you sit. You might sit here
for many, many years. And then one day you realize,
you know, I'm hearing what he's saying. One day you realize,
I believe that. One day you realize, that Savior,
He's preached, that's my hope, that's my Savior. What's happened? God's raised you to new life.
He's given you new life in the new birth. And you know why?
Because your Savior died for you. So you've got to be given
life. So I'll tell you this, while I just sue my flesh, not
suffer, I'm telling you this, after I know Christ, Whatever
happens to my flesh is of absolutely no consequence because I've got
confidence in the salvation of my soul. Now that is a reviving,
isn't it? In the midst of the trouble of
this life, there's reviving. I hope Lindy won't mind me, if
she does, don't tell her. She came and we sat there in
my study. She told me she won't be baptized,
We both cried a little bit, you know, together. In the midst
of this trouble, God gave life, a reviving of life. God's going
to give his people spiritual life because Christ died for
them, because Christ destroyed every enemy. And then I would say there's
a second way, really it's the same way. God gives spiritual
life to his people by his word, by the seed of the word. That's
why we preach the word. Going verse by verse, line by
line, word by word, because God uses the seed of His word to
give life. Look at verse 2. David says,
I will worship toward thy holy temple and praise thy name for
thy loving kindness and for thy truth. For thou hast magnified
thy word above all thy name. Now this word David used up here
in verse 7, revive, has several meanings. The first one is this,
to make a lie That's this word, that's the seed of the word.
All life, as I understand, I think this is true, all life comes
from a seed. God used physical seed to give
us, each of us, he used physical seed to give us physical life.
And in order to give us spiritual life, God uses spiritual seed. The seed of his word, this word
is the seed that God uses to give life. James says, of his
own will begat he us with the word of truth. That's the seed
he uses. So you take comfort in the word
of God. The word of God always produces
life for God's elect. It cannot fail. I don't know
why we preach anything else. We do desire to see sinners saved,
but for the life of me, I don't know why you'd ever do anything
to preach this word. because this is the Word, this
is the seed God uses to give life. What does it mean here
when David says, Thou hast magnified Thy Word above all Thy name? I'll tell you what it means.
It means that the glory of the name of God depends upon Him
keeping His Word. So you can believe this Word.
God will never break it. Whatever it is you read in this
book, you can believe it. You can rest in it. God won't
break it. This is the Word of God who cannot
lie. If God ever breaks any of His
Word, He's going to lose all of His glory. He's not going
to allow that to happen. The gospel that we preach is
the gospel of truth because it comes directly from the Word
of truth. So you can rest secure in every
promise of this book. Every truth of this book, you
can just rest in it. This book tells us man is lost
in sin. You can believe that. Man is
completely ruined in sin. But you know what else this book
says? This book says there's no hope for a man in himself. But you know what it says? It
says there's hope for sinners. There's life for sinners in the
Lord Jesus Christ because He's the Savior of sinners. The Savior
Himself says If you come to Him, He'll in no wise cast you out.
Now why haven't you come? He said He'll cast no sinner
out that comes to Him. He said no one who ever believes
on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will ever be ashamed.
You can believe that. That's the truth. He said, our
Savior said He will keep and He will preserve everyone who
trusts him. Don't you worry. He's going to
keep you. He's going to preserve you. That's
another meaning of this word revive, to keep and to preserve. And you know how he does it?
He does it by his word. You trust the word of God. God thinks so much of his word. He named his son, the word. That right hand of God God, the
father named him the word. He is the expression of God. Now you rest in him. You put
all of your hope on him. The songwriter said, how firm
a foundation you saints of the Lord. He laid for your faith
in his excellent word. What more can he say than to
you he has said, to you who for Jesus, who for refuge to Jesus
have fled. You flee to him. You put all
your hope in Him. It's this word that gives life
to His people. And the assurance that we have
that God will indeed revive His people just like He promised
is His character. It's His loving kindness and
it's true. Verse 2, I will worship toward
thy holy temple and praise thy name for thy loving kindness
and for thy truth. Now everything God does is always
done in truth. God's love is always shown, always
given in truth. God is not kind. He's not loving
his people because he's a sweet old grandpa that just can't see
their faults. No, God's kind to his people.
God's love is to his people and is in truth because he poured
out his wrath against our sin upon our substitute. Now he shows
love to his people, loving kindness to his people in truth. Now God
is just. Everything He does is true. So
whatever He does, it's right. Well, if Christ died for you,
if the Father punished Christ for your sins, it'd be wrong
for Him to cast you out and to be unkind to you. That would be wrong. Well, God's
not going to do what's wrong. So you can rest. You can just
be assured of His loving kindness to His people. He will give his
people spiritual life. He'll revive them in the midst
of this awful world that we live in, this world of trouble. He's
going to revive them and give them life through the preaching
of Christ. Life that can never be lost.
Well, here's the second promise. God promises to revive his people. He's going to revive their soul,
their spirit in the midst of trouble. Now this is something
every believer learns sooner or later. God revives the spirit,
the soul of His people even when the flesh is left in trouble
and trial. Only a believer can understand
this. How the spirit can just soar in joy and thanksgiving
while the flesh is left in the battle. Only a believer can understand
how the spirit can be, how comforted and encouraged the spirit is
while the flesh is left so discouraged. And there are several ways that
God revives the spirit of his people in the midst of this trouble.
And the first one is praise. Verse one, I will praise thee
with my whole heart. Before the gods, I will sing
praise unto thee. Now, if you want your spirit
to be revived, You want to repress it in the midst of trouble. You're
going to have to look away from yourself. You're going to have
to look out of yourself and look to Christ and praise Him. Just
praise Him. I don't care what the circumstances
are that your flesh is in. Look away from yourself and praise
God just for who He is. Now, in the world in which we
live, this is what comes to people's mind. People having these praise
services and all this stuff. All that is is lip service. And
Dave is not talking about lip service. Dave is not talking
about hollering and screaming and running up and down the aisles
and throwing song books and waving your hands around in the air
and being so overcome you faint. All that stuff is is a show of
the flesh. It's flesh. Now, that might whoop
you up when you're in the crowd. Does that help you in the middle
of the night, when you're all alone, when it's dark? No, it
doesn't. But praise in the heart will.
I'm telling you, it will. Praise God with your whole heart,
because that's what God deserves. Doesn't He deserve our best?
My whole heart, at this point, someday it'll be wonderful, but
right now it ain't much, but I'm telling you, The Lord's at
least worthy, the best I got. Praise Him with your whole heart.
Honor God with your heart, because He's honorable. And do it in
the midst, even in the face of idolatry that kills our world
today. And the best way to do that is
just don't compromise with it. Do not compromise with it. And
I'll give you an example. Those of you who are so ill. Maybe it's crossed your mind.
Maybe you should go to one of these faith healers and they'll
blow on me and I hope they'll brush their teeth first, you
know, they'll blow on me and they hit me with their hand and I'll
fall over and, you know, I'll be healed. Should you do that? No. That wouldn't praise God,
would it? No, I'll tell you how we praise
God. Here's a good way to praise God. It's not with a show of
the flesh. It's by trusting Him. It's simply by trusting Him.
Not in all these idols and this show of the flesh around us.
Just trust Him. That's praising Him. Trust Him. If I tell you something and you
say, I believe you, in a way that's praising, you know, that
you don't think I'll lie to you. When you trust God, that's praising
Him. He'll do what He said He'd do. Then we, here's another way
we can revive our souls. It's by worshiping. By worshiping. Worship God where He is. Where
is He? He's in public worship. David
said, I'm going to worship toward thy holy temple. Well, that temple
is a picture of Christ. Well, if you worship God, if
you praise Him, praise Him in Christ our Savior. God's worshiped
in Christ. The fulfillment of that temple. God's worshiped where Christ
is preached. If you would have your soul revived in the midst
of trouble, be in your worship center. Secondly, God revives
the spirit of his people in the midst of trouble through his
word. Through his word, through that word that he magnified above
all his name. If you would have your spirit
revived, spend time reading God's word. Spend time hearing it. Hear it preached. Before I had
my back surgery, All I could do without being in pain was
lay flat on my back. I had to lay on even a mattress
I couldn't. I had to lay on a wood floor.
Now I'd be laying there, you know what I mean? There's not
a lot you can do. And I told Jan, I said, tell
you what I'd like. Would you just read? Would you
just get the Word and read? Would you read to me? And she
said, what would you like? I said, start with creation.
Just read that to me. Boy, that helped. It didn't take
the pain away. But it revived my soul. My Savior's
the Creator. I reckon He can take care of
that desk, don't you? If you're in trouble, oh, you're
in distress and trouble, ask your husband or wife, just say,
I'll read the Word. Just read it aloud. You'd be
amazed what it'll do for you. Another meaning of this word
revive is to nourish. That's exactly what the Word
of God does. nourishes the soul. The more
you feed your soul with the Word, the more it'll be revived. Have
you ever been working or doing something, you've gone a long
time, maybe you missed a meal, missed lunch or something, and
after a while your body's just dragging, you just seem like
you've had a beating, you lift this glass and just, oh, what's
wrong? Well, your body didn't have any
fuel, and eat you a good, nutritious meal, you're amazed how quickly
the body recovers. Your spirit will be revived the
same way, nourished the same way with this Word of God. Read
it, hear it preached. Nothing will strengthen your
soul or spirit like the Word of God. What did God use to give
life to your soul? It was the Word, wasn't it? Well,
God's also going to use that same Word to feed comfort and
courage and to teach His seed. And only the Word will do it. Not somebody else's commentary
on the Word. The Word. And spend some time
with Him. And here's the third way God
revives the soul of His people. It's through prayer. Look here
at verse 3. In the day when I cried, Thou
answeredest me, and strengthenest me with strength in my soul.
If you want your spirit to be revived, You're in trouble, you're
in distress, and you feel like you need a refreshing, I tell
you what to do. Spend some time in prayer. And
when you pray, don't spend so much time asking for things.
Now, do, ask what you need for. But don't spend the majority
of your time asking for things that you want. Just spend time
talking. You're heavenly father. Lay your
heart open for him. Thank him. Thank him for who
he is. Thank Him for everything He's
done for you. Spend time praising Him for who He is. Praise Him
for His righteousness. Praise Him for His holiness.
Praise Him for His mercy and His grace and His love. Praise
Him for His humility that He didn't even humble Himself to
hear your prayer. You do that and your soul will be revived. It really will because your soul
has its life in God. So then spend time talking to
Him. You'll be strengthened and nourished
in Him. And I'll tell you, here's a good encouragement to pray.
God answers prayer. We probably ought to spend a
whole lot more time in prayer. God answers prayer. David said,
in the very day I cried. As soon as I cried, you answered
me. In Psalm 34, David encouraging
us to pray, he said, this poor man cried, and the Lord heard
him and saved him of all his troubles. Maybe He would you
too. Why don't you cry to Him? Why don't you pray to Him? The
Lord answers prayer. He'll use prayer to revive your
soul. The Lord promised, I'm going
to revive my people in the midst of trouble. Then pray and ask
the Lord to do what He's already promised to do. I've told you
that several times. A very good way to pray is this.
Ask God to do what He's already promised to do. And He'll do
it. And then lastly, here's this. One day, our God's going to revive
both the soul and the body of his people. He's going to raise
them up and bring them to be with him eternally. Verse 8. The Lord will perfect that which
concerneth me. Thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever. Forsake not the works of thine
own hands. Here's another meaning of this
word revive. It means to make whole. I'm speaking to believers. I'm speaking to you who know
Christ, who love Him and believe Him. The Lord saved you. He's given you life. He's given
you life through faith that He gives by hearing the preaching
of the Word. He's called you out of your darkness. He's called
you to the light of His Son. He's called you out of your unbelief
to faith in Christ. And right now, as you sit here
tonight, you're as saved as you ever will be. Right now, David's
in glory, and you're sitting in one of those chairs, and you're
just as safe, just as eternally secure as David is. That's so.
But, the work of grace is not complete yet. David's a whole
lot happier than we are. You're still in this body of
sinful flesh. That won't last long. It's not
lasting too much longer. God's begun a work of grace in
you. And He's gonna finish it. You'll finish it. One day soon,
you're going to find yourself in glory and you'll be perfect
for body and soul. You take comfort in this truth.
You're the work of God's hands. It's He who made us, not we ourselves,
right? We're the work of His hands.
He's made you what you are by His mercy. He's not going to
forsake that work. David says, Lord, would you not
forsake the work of thine own hands? Well, he won't. His work
of mercy, he'll never forsake it because his mercy endureth
forever. He's not going to forsake it.
God's made you what you are right now by his mercy. We're not what
we wish we were. We're not what we ought to be.
We're not what we will be one day. But we are the children
of God. Now, right now, we're the children
of God. It does not yet appear what we shall be, but we are
the children of God. He's made you what you are by
His mercy. And God's going to make you what
you will be by His mercy to you. He's going to make you perfect.
And He won't fail to do it because His mercy endures forever. He's
not going to forsake the work of His hands. And when that work's
complete and we're with Him forever, We're going to praise Him and
worship Him perfectly. Not like we do now, so weakly
and imperfectly, but there, when the work's complete, we're going
to worship Him perfectly. Now, does that thrill your soul?
Oh, it thrills my soul. There. Now, we're cast down. Cast down, but not destroyed.
There, we won't even be cast down anymore. Perfect. Now, does
that revive your soul? Does that refresh and encourage
your soul? Right now, I'm talking about
right now, in the midst of trouble, does that revive your soul? David
says, though I walk in the midst of trouble. Well, it won't be
too much longer and the walk will be over, but I'm telling
you right now, we've got to walk. We've got to have the strength
to keep walking. Does that revive your soul enough
to keep walking through this midst of trouble? I pray it will. And when you need another refreshing,
go back to his word. Go back to him in prayer. Go
back to him in worship. Keep looking to him. I'll revive
and see him. I'll refresh him. Let's bow. Our Father, we thank you for
this sweet, precious promise of your mercy to your people
that you recorded in your word. Father, we pray you'd apply it
to our hearts. all for a heart that believes you, looks to you,
rests in you. Father, we confess that we're,
as David, we're walking in the midst of trouble. We pray that
you'd give us a fulfillment of this promise, that you'd revive
the soul, revive the spirit of your people in this day of trouble. Cause us to continue to look
to thee, rest in thee, until your time at the work will be
complete. Cause us to keep looking to you, resting in you, and praising
you, and thanking you, and worshiping you, as you ought to be praised,
as you ought to be worshiped. Go with us now, Father, by your
grace and mercy, uphold us, keep us in the way. For it's in the
precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ we give thanks and we
do ask these blessings.
