How can Old Testament figures like Job be justified in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Old Testament figures were justified in Christ based on their faith in the promised Redeemer, anticipated through the covenant of grace.

Old Testament saints, including Job, were justified by their faith in God's promise of redemption, ultimately fulfilled in Christ. Although Job lived centuries before Christ’s incarnation, he believed in the coming Redeemer, as indicated in Job 19:25-26 where he expresses hope in a Redeemer who would stand upon the earth. The Reformed understanding of justification encompasses the notion of the covenant of grace, which asserts that God made a promise of salvation through Christ before the foundation of the world. Essentially, Old Testament believers were saved through the same means as New Testament believers: by grace through faith in the righteousness of Christ that would be manifested in time.
