How can we tell who are true believers?

Answered in 1 source

True believers are those who abide in Christ and demonstrate their faith through obedience.

The distinction between true believers and those who merely profess faith can often be seen in their perseverance and resulting actions. In 1 John 2:19, John explains that those who departed from the faith were never truly of the faith. In contrast, a genuine believer remains in Christ, trusting in His blood for salvation, and seeks to live a life of obedience motivated by love and gratitude rather than fear of punishment. This transformational evidence, seen through a consistent pursuit of righteousness and reliance on Christ, marks the true children of God, as they are sustained by the seed of Christ that remains within them.
