How do we know Christ is the ultimate high priest?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is the ultimate high priest because He is sinless and His sacrificial death perfectly fulfills the requirements of the law.

In the biblical narrative, the role of the high priest was critical in the Old Covenant as he officiated the sacrifices for sin. However, these sacrifices were merely types pointing toward the final reality in Jesus Christ. Hebrews explicitly states that Jesus, as the perfect high priest, offered Himself without spot to God, thus fulfilling all that the Old Testament sacrifices represented. He is the anti-type of the high priest, bringing complete reconciliation through His own blood rather than the blood of animals, which could never take away sin (Hebrews 10:4). This perfection renders Christ the ultimate high priest for His people, securing eternal redemption and saving them fully.
