How do we know faith is more reliable than feeling?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is grounded in God's promises, while feelings are often inconsistent and deceiving.

Faith, as understood within Reformed theology, is a deep conviction rooted in the truth of God's Word and His promises. Unlike feelings, which can fluctuate based on circumstances, faith remains steadfast and anchored in the reality of God's character. The believer is called to trust in Jesus Christ and His completed work, which provides a more stable foundation for confidence and reassurance than any emotional experience. Charles Spurgeon illustrates this by contrasting the stability of a branch drawing life from the vine with attempts to live independently, emphasizing that true life is found in dependency on Christ, not on the whims of our emotions.
