How do we know faith without works is false?

Answered in 1 source

Faith without works is dead, proving that true faith will always result in good works.

James 2 reinforces that faith without works is not genuine. The essence of this teaching is that while we are justified before God by faith alone, the reality of that faith is evidenced through our actions. If a person's faith does not produce good works—actions flowing from the love and grace given by God—then such faith can be deemed false. Just as a body without the spirit is lifeless, so too is faith without the manifestation of good works.
