How do we know God is just and still able to justify sinners?

Answered in 1 source

God's justice is upheld because He justifies sinners through the righteousness of Christ, who fulfilled the law.

The dilemma of God's justice and His ability to save sinners is central to the message of the Gospel. The Scriptures assert that God cannot overlook sin without compromising His holiness and justice. This is exemplified in Daniel's situation, where the law had to be honored. However, through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, God demonstrates His justice by punishing sin in Christ while simultaneously justifying the ungodly who believe. Romans 3:26 encapsulates this perfect harmony where God is both just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Therefore, it is through Christ’s perfect obedience and sacrifice that God remains just while justifying repentant sinners.
