How do we know God's grace is preserving?

Answered in 1 source

We know God's grace is preserving through the promises of Scripture and the assurance of the Holy Spirit.

The assurance of God's preserving grace stems from His promises in the Scriptures and the work of the Holy Spirit in believers' lives. In John 6:39, Jesus speaks of the Father's will that He should lose nothing of those given to Him, reinforcing that our salvation is secured by divine decree. Furthermore, Hebrews 7:25 states that Christ is able to save to the uttermost, assuring us that His mediatorial work preserves us until the end.

Additionally, the presence of the Holy Spirit in our hearts acts as a divine assurance of our salvation. 1 John 2:19 teaches us that those who abandon the faith were never truly part of God's elect, while those who remain show evidence of being born of God. This guarantees that God’s preserving grace will result in our continued faith and clinging to Christ, evidencing that we belong to Him.
