How do we know God's mercy leads to healing?

Answered in 1 source

God's mercy is evident when He wounds us of our sin to ultimately heal us through Christ.

The sermon illustrates that God's mercy often comes through painful realizations of our sinfulness. Just as physical healing sometimes requires an operation that involves wounding, so spiritual healing necessitates a divine confrontation with our sin. In the biblical account, the Samaritan woman is confronted by Christ, revealing her sinful past. This moment is a wound of mercy designed to awaken her to her need for salvation. As she recognizes her condition, she is led to the living water of Christ, which brings true healing and satisfaction. Thus, knowing that God wounds us for our healing highlights His loving and sovereign purpose.
