How do we know grace is central to Christian discipline?

Answered in 1 source

Grace is central to Christian discipline because it serves as the foundation for our relationships with one another, motivated by the grace we have received from God.

The concept of grace in discipline is critical because it illustrates how our actions towards others should mirror the grace we have received from Christ. As stated in the sermon, the righteousness of Christ imputed to us is the basis of our justification and inspires us to seek reconciliation. In every situation where conflict arises, we must remember that grace reigns through righteousness. Thus, any form of church discipline should reflect the goal of restoration and be rooted in this divine grace rather than a harsh legalistic approach.
