How do we know Jesus is in the Old Testament?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is revealed in the Old Testament, as affirmed by His own statement that 'Moses wrote of me.'

In John 5:39, Jesus instructs the Jewish leaders to search the Scriptures, highlighting that the writings of Moses testify about Him. This indicates that the entirety of the Old Testament, including Genesis, serves to point to Jesus and His redemptive work. Moses, as the author of the Pentateuch, embedded themes and prophecies that ultimately find fulfillment in Christ. Understanding this connection affirms that the Bible is a cohesive narrative centered on God's redemptive plan through Jesus. Hence, when we read any portion of Scripture, especially in the Old Testament, we should be keenly aware of how it points to Christ and His salvation.
