How do we know Jesus is our Comforter?

Answered in 1 source

We know Jesus is our Comforter through His promises in Scripture and the testimonies of His work in our lives.

Jesus affirmed His role as Comforter by declaring in John 14 that He would pray the Father to send us another Comforter, one of the same kind as Himself. This promise points to the Holy Spirit, who continues to provide comfort to believers. Moreover, the entirety of Scripture illustrates that Christ fulfills this role — He offered comfort to His disciples in their troubles and still advocates for us before the Father, reminding us of His presence and provision in our lives. Understanding that Christ does not abandon us, but remains intimately involved with us, reinforces our confidence in Him as our eternal Comforter.
