How do we know that Christ is our righteousness?

Answered in 25 sources

We know that Christ is our righteousness because through His sacrificial death and resurrection, believers are justified and considered righteous before God.

The doctrine of Christ as our righteousness is foundational to Reformed theology, articulated through the imputation of His righteousness to believers. In Revelation 19:13, Christ is referred to as having a vesture dipped in blood, symbolizing His redemptive work on the cross. This work satisfies God's justice and reconciles sinners to Him. As believers, we are clothed in His righteousness, which is what allows us to stand before God justified. This is further backed by Scripture such as 2 Corinthians 5:21, which affirms that Christ became sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. This assures us that our acceptance before God is not based on our works but solely on the finished work of Christ.
