How do we know that Christ's death defeated Satan?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ's death on the cross is seen not as a defeat but as an exodus, successfully delivering God's elect from the bondage of sin and Satan (Luke 11:21-22).

Christ's death is pivotal because it was not a failure but a purposeful act of redemption. As indicated in the sermon, His death was akin to an exodus, reflecting the deliverance of God's people from sin and bondage, similar to the Israelites' escape from Egypt. The shedding of His blood established an everlasting righteousness that satisfied divine justice, allowing God to justify the ungodly. In this way, the work of Christ on the cross not only bears the penalty for sin but simultaneously dismantles the dominion of Satan over humanity. This act of sacrificial love demonstrates that through His death, the chains of sin and the power of evil are irrevocably broken for all who believe.
