How do we know that faith is a consequence of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture indicates that our ability to believe is a product of being made alive by God.

We understand that faith is a consequence of salvation by examining the nature of spiritual life as revealed in Scripture. In John 5:24, it states that those who hear and believe have everlasting life, suggesting that belief follows the impartation of life from God. Since we are dead in sin by nature (Ephesians 2:1), it is God who must first bring us to life before we can respond in faith. Consequently, our faith, love, and willingness to repent are not conditions for salvation but rather evidences of the transformative work God has done in us.
