How do we know that God has a remnant of believers?

Answered in 1 source

God declares that He will preserve a remnant of His people who trust in Him for salvation.

In Zephaniah 3:12-13, God promises to leave among His people a remnant, an 'afflicted and poor people' who trust in His name. This concept is foundational to the understanding of God's redemptive plan throughout Scripture, affirming that despite widespread disobedience, He will always have a people who remain faithful to Him. The idea of a remnant is central to the doctrine of election, suggesting that God preserves those who, by His grace, will believe in Christ and be saved. This remnant will ultimately not be judged alongside the ungodly, as they are justified in Christ.
