How do we know that grace can lead to a righteous life?

Answered in 1 source

Grace motivates believers toward righteousness by causing them to recognize Christ's complete work for their salvation.

The understanding of being under grace transforms a believer's motives. Romans 6:14 states that sin shall not have dominion over believers because they are under grace, not law. When believers truly grasp this grace, it generates a love and gratitude for Christ, compelling them to live righteously. This is not through legalistic efforts but through the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, who empowers them to live according to God’s will as a response to His mercy. The assurance of being justified in Christ enables believers to serve God in righteousness rather than self-righteousness.
