How do we know that Jesus became poor for our sake?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus became poor by assuming human nature in its vulnerability to save us from our sins.

The Apostle Paul underscores this truth in 2 Corinthians 8:9, 'For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.' Jesus willingly left the glories of heaven, taking on human likeness in a state of humility and dependence. He was born into poverty, lived without material wealth, and experienced the fullness of human limitations except for sin. His condescension illustrated the depth of His love and grace for sinners. In becoming poor, He identified with the spiritually bankrupt, showing that His mission was directed towards the needy, not the self-righteous. His lack of earthly riches serves as a profound reminder of the spiritual wealth that believers receive through faith in Him.
