How do we know that Jesus is not to be tempted?

Answered in 1 source

We know that Jesus is not to be tempted because He Himself affirmed this truth by quoting Scripture in response to temptation.

In Matthew 4:6, Satan challenges Jesus with Scripture, prompting Him to cast Himself down from the pinnacle of the temple. Jesus counters by stating, 'It is written again, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.' This response underscores His divine authority and the harm of testing God's promises. Tempting the Lord reveals a heart of unbelief that presumes upon God's grace, whereas true faith acknowledges God's sovereignty and trusts in His Word. Hence, Christ’s refusal to engage in temptation teaches us the vital importance of approaching God in faith, reverence, and obedience.
