How do we know that Jesus really died?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus' death is confirmed by eyewitnesses, including a centurion and followers who handled His lifeless body.

The reality of Jesus' death is validated by multiple eyewitness accounts. The centurion, tasked with overseeing the crucifixion, confirms to Pilate that Jesus is indeed dead, having observed His death through physical signs. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, both prominent figures who took Jesus’ body down from the cross, handled His corpse, wrapping it in linen for burial. Furthermore, the women who witnessed these events and remained at the crucifixion provide additional testimony. Their accounts serve as evidence that He truly experienced death, a requirement for our understanding of His atoning work.
