How do we know that salvation is by grace and not by law?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture clearly defines that salvation is through faith in Christ and not through our works or adherence to the law.

In Galatians 3:21, Paul asserts that if a law could provide life, righteousness would have been achieved through the law. However, the law was incapable of granting life; thus, salvation is predicated on God's grace through faith in Christ. The law serves to highlight our sins and our failure to uphold its requirements, thereby underscoring our need for the righteousness of Christ, which is imputed to us through faith. This emphasis on grace as the means of salvation reflects the Reformed belief in the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice and His obedience to the law on our behalf.
