How do we know that the persecution of Christians is justified?

Answered in 1 source

Persecution is justified when it arises from a faithful witness to Christ and His gospel, as indicated in Matthew 5:10-12.

Persecution against Christians is not simply a consequence of being disliked; rather, it is specifically due to one's commitment to Jesus Christ and His message. In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus states that when individuals are reviled or persecuted for His name's sake, they should rejoice because they are identified with Him. The persecution faced by God's people is thus a confirmation of their commitment to the true gospel and evidence that they bear the same fate as the prophets who came before them. This affirmation brings comfort and a sense of belonging to God's people.
