How do we know that trusting in God is essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture emphasizes that salvation comes through faith in God, rejecting any dependence on human works or alliances.

The Bible illustrates the folly of seeking salvation through our efforts or worldly alliances, as seen in the example of Judah seeking Egypt's help instead of trusting God. Isaiah 30:1-2 highlights this rebellion and foolishness, stating that they devised their plan without seeking God's counsel. Any attempt to gain salvation through our own works ultimately leads to trouble and shame (Isaiah 30:3-5). Instead, true salvation is found only in returning to God and relying on His promises as expressed in His Word. It is through faith in Christ alone that believers are saved, as emphasized in Ephesians 2:8-9, which declares that we are saved by grace through faith, not of ourselves.
